QBE report to update form link

Running portal30 from 9iAS media on Solaris.
Been searching topics for an answer before posting...
I'm building an app that uses a QBE form to display the contents of a table through a view with UPDATE link enabled. When the user clicks the UPDATE link, they are presented a form with the selected row in it. However, this appears to be a default generated form. I would like to build my own form with edit criteria and additional formating and have the UPDATE link to my custom form instead of a default form. Anyone know how to do this link? I can't find squat in the docs.
Thanks, Dan Dodge

This is strange, - made the same report again, this time as a sql-query (not QBE) - and linked the report and form together exactly as before - this time the link works when using the report as a portlet.
The QBE-report generates empty parameterstrings (i.e. foo=&bar=&) when run as portlet on a page. Is this a bug?

  • Link from QBE-report to form not working when published as portlets

    I've created a simple QBE-report where I've linked (using a LINK) keyvalues to a detail FORM. Query and linking and automatically display of selected record works fine in the App.builder, - but when I publish the elements as portlets and access the QBE-report as a portlet on a page, - the link fails, no keyvalues are passed to the detail form. It only shows up blank.
    What am I missing here?
    Thankful for any hint.

  • Change layout Update form from QBE report

    Is it possible to change the layout from the form that appears when i click on the update link from a QBE report? If yes: where?
    T.I.A.

    I don't think that is possible. You can try creating custom reports and forms and try linking them together using the link component to get the same effect.

  • Using Update and Delete Links in QBE Reports with a Template

    QBE Reports in Portal allow Update and Delete links against Report output rows.
    When run, if I press the Update link it displays a simple form and utilises the Template I specified for the Report (as expected).
    If I press the Delete link it displays a page with a default Oracle template (including Navigator, Home and Help buttons I wish to suppress)
    How can I get the Delete to use the specified Template?
    Any simple fix appreciated.

  • Using a LOV in an Update page for a QBE Report

    In my QBE Report-based portlet, I have set one of the fields to use a LOV.
    When I go into Customize for the portlet, that field uses the LOV, but when I click on the Update link for a row, the same field does NOT use the LOV.
    How do I make it use the LOV in the Update page?

  • Insert, save, etc.. button's not showed on customize form of QBE report.

    Hi,
    I've created a QBE report with all button's enabled in the customize form, when testing this with the
    provider customize link the button's are shown and I can perform an insert etc...
    When this QBE report-portlet is added to my rootpage and I go to the customize link everything is shown
    except the button's ??? what am I doing wrong ?
    Luc De pauw

    Hi,
    This is because it is the customize of the portlet. The customize of a portlet only supports the Apply, OK and Cancel buttons. Hence the QBE cannot support Insert in the customize. They are the full page options. The customize is to change the parameters of the report that control the output of the report. It cant be used to insert into a table. The Apply and ok do the same the thing that save does. It saves the customizations for the user.
    Thanks,

  • How to make a link in a report open a Form in a different region of the same page ?

    Hi,
    I developped a report and a form for the same table. I also created a link and used it in my report so that when I click on the link of one record, the form is opened and display this record.
    My problem is that when I include my report as a portlet and I click on a link, the form is opened in full screen mode by replacing the page containing my report.
    What should I do in order to open this form in another region of the same page ?
    Thanks a lot

    I presume that the two regions are working fine with their individual buttons and your issue is how to make them both save with one button.
    Here is how
    a. You will have 2 ApplyMRU and 1 ApplyMRD processes for each of the regions. Right? Lets say you have 2 "Save" (i.e. label=Save) buttons, one has name SUBMIT and the other SAVE ( SUBMIT and SAVE being the requests that will be sent when they are clicked , respectively)
    b. Make the Display condition on one of the buttons 'Never'. Now it won't show when you run the page. Lets say you made SAVE's conditional Display 'Never'
    c. Go and change the condition on all ApplyMRU and ApplyMRD processes from "When Button Pressed" to "Request is contains in Expression1". In Expression1 enter SUBMIT,SAVERegards

  • Parameters on linked report not updating

    Hi,
    I updated a report adding parameter expressions.  A linked report based on the report I updated didn't get the parameter expressions when I deployed the base report.  Anybody else having that issue?  It's not much of a problem.  I just have to recreate the linked report which is a nusance.
    Thanks,
    DD

    I know this question is old, but I had the same problem today, and I think the answer is useful.
    When you deploy a new "main" report, the linked reports are NOT updated automatically, so you need to refresh them. You can do this easily from the Report Manager:
    1 - Update the main report;
    2 - Go to the linked report, use the "Manage" menu, and in the "Properties" tab click in the "Change Link" button:
    3 - In the following screen, select the main report, and click "OK". This will refresh the linked report with the modified main report:
    4 - Once you're back to the previous screen, click the "Apply" button, to really update the linked report.
    5 - VERY IMPORTANT: Since you changed the main report, all the previous adjustments you made in the linked report parameters were lost - like Null, Hide, Prompt User and Display Text, only the Default Value is preserved - so GO TO THE PARAMETERS tab and
    adjust the linked report parameters again!!!

  • Report not updating after Form saved in Workspace in Hyperion Planning

    Whenever a form is changed in workspace and saved, it updates the form. I then go to the report to print, the report isn't showing the updated information. I have to go to Essbase to calcall for the report to be updated. How can I get my reports to update as soon as the form is saved. Thx

    A few things I would suggest you do to determine where the problem lies.
    1) Create an Essbase pull sheet in Excel that mimics the form and verify you see the data in Essbase -- you should see it just after your form is saved.
    2) Compare the dimensions on your report with those on the Form. I would guess your report has an upper level member that is not dynamically calculated -- if this is true then if you really want the report to show the exact data as the form then update the report appropriately.
    Good Luck,
    -John

    Thanks for attention.the port which you have mentioned is it WLS_FORMS_PORT or any other.
    Try running default Forms port WLS_FORMS_PORT that will be 9001
    or check for the WLS_FORMS_PORT in the portlist.ini file.
    Also are you getting any exception in the Java console.?

  • Direct Link Row View Form to Update Form ?

    Hi, I'm using JDeveloper 9.0.3 - BC4J+UIXML 2.1.7, and i whould like create link for each row (only one column) in my Results Query List to call Update Form.
    It's possible ?
    If possible, please send an example.
    thanks,
    Danilo

    Danilo,
    Are you trying to create a link like
    DR. JOHN PETER SCHOOL
    in a BC4J column? If so, one way to do so would be something along the lines of
    <bc4j:column attrName="DspNomEscola">
      <columnHeader>
        <bc4j:sortableHeader text="Nome da Escola"/>
      </columnHeader>
      <contents>
        <link>
          <boundAttribute name="text">
            <bc4j:attrValue/>
          </boundAttribute>
          <boundAttribute name="destination">
            <ctrl:pageURL name="ed00030update">
              <ctrl:properties>
                <ctrl:property key="key">
                   <boundAttribute name="value">
                     <bc4j:rowProperty name="key" />
                   </boundAttribute>
              </ctrl:property>
            </ctrl:properties>
          </ctrl:pageURL>
        </boundAttribute>
      </link>
      </contents>
    </bc4j:column>
    ...                                                       I didn't check the code, but essentially you want to create a bound attribute binding the the attribute's value to the text attribute of the link.
    This should give you a column
    DR. JOHN PETER SCHOOL
    DR. MARY MARTHA UNIVERSITY
    with links to the editing page.
    Good luck,
    Joe

  • Cannot add popup LOV to existing update form for interactive report

    I have a requirement to add a popup LOV to an existing interactive report with an update form in apex 4.0.2.00.07. I have an insert form as well form the interactive report and was able to add the shared LOV as a popup correctly (so the issue isn't with the popup LOV definition). However, when I add the popup LOV to the update form, the field does not show up when I run the application. There currently isn't any data in that column of the table in the db (I'm adding the field so that users can update the data with the LOV return ID). Is there something I should look for that is keeping the field from showing on the screen that i have to check or uncheck?

    Either write a classic report and implement your own filters, and use those on your update function, or try to retrieve the where clause Apex uses in the IR.
    This blog from Stew should help you on your way:

  • How to Insert using QBE report in portlet?

    [This is using the latest version of Portal, 9.0.2]
    I have created a portlet which is based on the Report QBE.
    It displays fine, with Update and Delete columns/links for each row.
    However...
    When I created the portlet, I specifically said I wanted to display the Query, Reset and Insert buttons in the "Customization Form Display Options" Button Options. When I click on "Customize" from the Develop tab for my portlet, it shows the full page customize, which includes these buttons. But when I add the portlet to a region, and then click on its Customize link (to the right of the portlet's navbar), the resulting customize page does NOT show these buttons.
    How do I get Insert functionality working from a portlet? Do I have to do something more to make the portlet customize page show the necessary buttons?
    I feel like I may be missing something obvious (again!), but I can't figure it out, and I've looked in all the places I can think of.
    Help much appreciated...
    Regards
    Bryan

    You are not 'missing something obvious' , this is how it works. The insert option is not available for qbe reports as a portlets. Reason being that you may not want all users who are able to customize the report to insert data into the base table.
    For insertion of data use a form portlet or a link on one of the qbe columns.
    Sunil.
