QFS problem: Error: mount_samfs: mount() error: Device busy

Hi:
I setup the QFS on my two nodes sun cluster 3.2 environment. Everything works fine. But when i reboot both nodes, the QFS system cann't be mounted. it shows following error:

# clresourcegroup online -emM archive-rg
Actually, i did not do the step 8 (Create the QFS metadata server (MDS) resource group for high availability).
then i reboot both nodes, the QFS failed to be mounted
I found one doc is related to my problem.
http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-25-90055
It suggests to restart the samfs-qfs Resource Group to fix the problem. But the problem is i haven't setup the "samfs-qfs Resource Group ".
How can i do now? any advices?
Many many thanks!

It looks like you have the wrong entries in your hosts.archive file.
On a cluster, these should always reference the clusternode-priv names, e.g.
-bash-3.00# cat hosts.rac_data
pgyruss1 clusternode1-priv 1 0 server
pgyruss2 clusternode2-priv 1 0
These resolve to slight different addresses to the ones you are using and that might be the cause of your problem.
-bash-3.00# getent hosts clusternode1-priv
172.16.4.1 clusternode1-priv
Try that and see if it works. You might have to fiddle about a bit and may need to run "samd config" again.

i transitioned over to systemd on one of my laptops, and now im running into a problem that i cant seem to solve

I think this "bogus number of reserved sectors" has been there since initial installation about 6 months ago, but since upgrading to systemd, its becoming a fatal problem, whereas before when in initscripts it wasnt an issue.
I tried runing parted, but couldnt see any problems, and didnt know where to go from there.  It is an MBR type table.
I am able to run my network connection from maintenance mode, and install what i need to.  I was able to get past the maintenance mode and get the system to boot up by running
    mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda6 /home
but when i do that i get an empty home drive
The funny thing is when i am in  maintenance mode, i can access the home drive no problems.  So it is mounted.

this was great info, thanks for that.  it really looked promising to me, and it led me to trying things i have not tried before, and taught me a few new things. However, no matter what i try i cant get the users home directories mounted properly on ntfs.  Its probably over the top for me to reach into the AUR and and add another program to solve a problem that's getting over complicating to solve what deceivingly seems to be a rather simple issue.  so i tried your examples of fstab every other way without bind, i even installed what i thought was bindfs, under the name 'bind', all i got to say for that is oops, it installed (Berkeley Internet Name Domain).  As far as the taboo of mounting users homes to ntfs, i am able to reconfigure my system at anytime after i achieve this, but for right now i would rather go through the pains of mounting the user directories residing on sda6 than i would to reformat the drive to another file system type that wont be accessible to windows.  this is mainly for a learning experience, to try it on for size, and to realize for myself why i would or would not want this in the next build.
in the mean time,  what i tried hasn't work, i have only been able to use the ntfs file system as root, and not able to alter the permissions at that.  looking at my fstab below you can see what i am trying to accomplish, the 'miker' entry has dmask and fmask entries from a root test just to see what it will yield, so ignore that one, but the last 2 entries of users are the way i would like it to be.  can i accomplish this using fstab without having to install bindfs through the AUR?
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
    /dev/sda2 /boot ext2 defaults 0 2
    /dev/sda4 / ext3 defaults 0 1
    /dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/cdrom /mnt/dvd iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide,iocharset=utf8 0 0
    #/dev/sda6 /home ntfs-3g agid=users,dmask=022,fmask=133 0 0
    /dev/sda6 /mnt/ntfs ntfs-3g auto,dmask=022,fmask=133 0 0
    #/mnt/ntfs/miker /home/miker ntfs-3g auto,uid,1002,gid=users,dmask=022,fmask=133 0 0
    /mnt/ntfs/liaml /home/liaml ntfs-3g auto,uid=1002,gid=users,umask=027 0 0
    /mnt/ntfs/ellal /home/ellal ntfs-3g auto,uid=1001,gid=users,umask=027 0 0
as you can see, the fstab wont work because /mnt/ntfs isnt a block device, but its just where i gave up and am asking for more ideas...

  • EXT4 errors while mounting a USB in initramfs on a specific computer

    Hi,
I'm having trouble booting a newly installed Archlinux on a USB key on an old HP Compaq computer.
I am getting EXT4 errors in the regular initramfs, but they blink really fast on the screen so I can't read them properly.
It boots fine with the fallback initramfs, and dmesg shows that there are no problems while mounting.
The system boots without any problem on both initramfs with QEMU on my Windows.
    My mkinitcpio.conf :
    # vim:set ft=sh
    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES=""
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
    FILES=""
    # HOOKS
    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
    # modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
    # Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
    # Examples:
    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
    # HOOKS="base"
    ## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
    ## work as a sane default
    # HOOKS="base udev autodetect block filesystems"
    ## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
    ## No autodetection is done.
    # HOOKS="base udev block filesystems"
    ## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
    ## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.
    # HOOKS="base udev block mdadm encrypt filesystems"
    ## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
    # HOOKS="base udev block lvm2 filesystems"
    ## NOTE: If you have /usr on a separate partition, you MUST include the
    # usr, fsck and shutdown hooks.
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems fsck keyboard"
    # COMPRESSION
    # Use this to compress the initramfs image. By default, gzip compression
    # is used. Use 'cat' to create an uncompressed image.
    #COMPRESSION="gzip"
    #COMPRESSION="bzip2"
    #COMPRESSION="lzma"
    #COMPRESSION="xz"
    #COMPRESSION="lzop"
    #COMPRESSION="lz4"
    # COMPRESSION_OPTIONS
    # Additional options for the compressor
    #COMPRESSION_OPTIONS=""
I'm really puzzled about this, since I initially thought that the HP Compaq simply had problems with my USB key, but since it boots fine with the fallback initramfs, I think that it is the initramfs' fault, but it is the default one, so I currently have no clues about this.
I've also checked the USB key multiple times with fsck, and that doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem.

The thing is, the block module and the filesystem module are both loaded in my regular initramfs, and the presence of ext4 errors while mounting my USB key (it uses ext4) signifies that the system is actually using the right tool to do what it's supposed to.
The system has been installed via VirtualBox so the autodetect module may have messed things up. Going to recreate an initramfs image without it.
EDIT : It worked, sorry for bothering you guys, I could've found it sooner.
Anyway, as a note for others, if you plan on installing on a USB key to use it on other computers, remove the autodetect module from the initramfs, otherwise the required modules won't always be there.

    Hi,
Could you please have a share with your phone's information?
Based on what I know, different phones may have different softwares developed by the manufacturer to make the connection through Windows operating system, we may check with the phone's manufacturer side and see if there could be some helpful information
    offered.
Besides, please take a check with
Event Viewer and see if any special errors logged there.

  • Problem with DMGs and error: "No Mountable File Systems"

Problem with DMGs and error: "No Mountable File Systems"
The files are not corrupt. The problem is occurring with all DMGs that are apparently formatted in MS-DOS FAT16. No the file will not mount with Disk utility or any other disk mounter programs I have found.
This is now the second time this occurred and now effects my MBP and my iMac. First time i spent days with Apple support and the only solution was ultimately back up the data, reformat the HD, start over from scratch and reload everything. That lasted about a month before the problem resurfaced and is now an issue on both iMac and MBP.
I tried to identify all the programs I installed immediately before the error, as I am convinced it is the result of a software conflict.
    Recent programs includes:
    1) upgrading from Parallels 5.5 to 6.0 on both machines.
    2) using an HP secure II usb drive and setting up a secure disk.
    3) installing new itunes 10
    4) new update to Flip For Mac.
The files affected are downloaded dmgs, including personal brain and google earth, both which are formatted in FAT16.
Any help or thoughts? Apple has now spent hours trying and they say i now have to reformat and wipe and start over. That is unacceptable and based on pasted experience the problem is likely to repeat itself. having to wipe and rebuild a HD ever month is not an solution. i need to fid the root problem.
In the meantime, anyone got a real solution on how to extract the data for a DMG using a different method?

  • Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)

    Hi!
So i think i closed the wrong service at some point a few weeks back (apple mobile device) but iTunes remained working after that for another week. I then updated iTunes and i get the same  "Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." every time. If i click ignore, just so i can access iTunes with out syncing my iPod (touch 2nd gen) i then get 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)" when it has all installed. I don't understand what the problem is anymore as I have looked at other questions on the apple website, carried out the advice and it hasn't work. Any of them.
    Tings I have done:
    - Wiped all iTunes and Apple data from my computer (if you search for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' nothing comes up apart from applets from system code.
    - Attached iPod before iTunes install and updated drivers.
    - Installed iTunes as 'Run as administrator'
    - Uninstalled and re-installed the software nearly 20 times now and rebooted the computer in between everytime.
Please someone help because i really need to get music on my ipod and i enjoy the ease of use of iTunes compared to spotify or Windows Media Player.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

    Hello!
I have a problem connecting my Ipod Shuffle 2nd generation to my Windows 8 based laptop. The computer doesn't recognize the Ipod and issues an error message saying 'USB device not recognized'. I tried uninstaling ITunes(latest version) and all other Apple software and reinstaling it back again, checked my USB hubs in the 'Device Manager' section of the Control Panel, you name it.
I could really use some help solving this.
I've turned to the troubleshooting section in Apple Support but it has nothing concerning situations in wich the device isn't even shown in the 'My Computer' folder.
Help a brother out, will you???

Found a solution in another forum http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-63733-ipod-not-detected-on-computer (a few posts down).
It was for an IPOD so you can see those details in the link.
Found how to reset a shuffle and inserted it into these instructions - did not have to follow his last steps.
    - Turn off computer.
    - Plug Shuffle into usb.
    - Then you must reset your shuffle
    To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.
    - Start computer and it should install the usb driver for the ipod automatically.
    - Your i pod will say do not unplug so don't. then open itunes and it will be there.
I did not have to do these thing below – did not get error message and shuffle was displayed in Itunes. / LMc
Just remember to not only eject ipod from itunes but stop usb.
Go to the program icons near the clock and right click the usb icon and "safely remove hardware" will appear and click it.
Stop it and select "apple ipod".
