QT plugin cropping instead of scaling in IE6

I'm streaming video via RTSP/RTP to the QuickTime plug-in, and it works fine in Firefox. However, in IE6 the video is being cropped instead of scaled. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thx.

Java Plugin 1.4.1 hangs on IE6 close (Win98, WinNT)

Hi everybody,
I have an applet that connects to a server over HTTP. It uses swing(complicated gui with tables, dialog boxes, etc.) and multi-threading.
In Applet.dispose() method, I make one final call to the server if necessary and make sure to kill all started threads. In 1.4.0 it worked fine (exept for the ugly proxy bug ID 4638241). In 1.4.1 it works fine with Netscape 7 on any platform and IE6 on Win2000. However on Win98 and WinNT when I try to close the browser window, the whole IE6 process(2 windows) and the JavaConsole hangs. The only way to close the browser is to kill it with EndTask.

The first strange thing is that java reports the stop and destroy events long before I print a debuging info from the applet. But this may be due to the asynchronous printing to the JavaConsole
When the plugin hangs it reaches at maximum Joining applet thread ... message. But sometimes nothing is printed.
It appears that the Plugin prefers to hang more after a connection to the server has been made. In other words the chance of hanging before connecting to the server is 2% and the chance of hanging after connecting to the server is 98%.
Any clues or similar behavior?

I'm usin gthe 1.4.1 plugin and the browser hangs while trying to initialize the applet. Similiar to your problem, the only way to get out of this is to kill the IE6 window itself. This only happens on some machines. It seems like it has nothing to do with the code of the applet. Navigate to a simple "Hello World" example out in the internet and see if you encounter this hanging problem as well. So far, I've observed that if it doesn't work with one applet, it won't work with any.
Everything works just fine in 1.3.x version.

Referencing External components

I have two files in my project:
Project/main.mxml
Project/com/layout.mxml
(Main is an application and layout is a itemRenderer inside a
HorizontalList container.)
How do I resize the layout.mxml VBox height relative to the
Main.mxml container height from inside of Main.mxml?
Flex won't let me assign an ID to the root container of
layout.mxml, and trying to reference it through com.layout.height
gives me a "Call to a possibly undefined method through a reference
with static type Class" error.
I tried setting the height of layout.mxml using
parentApplication.id.height, which worked until I updated the
height of main.mxml and the layout.mxml remained unchanged. Flex
mentioned the height not being bindable. What a pain.

I have two horizontal lists stacked vertically on top of each
other with a bar between them for resizing their respective
heights. The default is 50% / 50%, but I figure some people might
want to see more of the top section, or vice versa.
Inside of the top horizontal list I am using an itemRenderer
to parse an XML file into pretty columns of data. Problem is that
the itemRenderer VBox doesn't update when you resize the horizontal
lists, so it gets cropped instead of scaling. Because I am using
justified text, it appears as though I have to use fixed heights
instead of percentages.
This is the resize function inside of the main.mxml
application:

I would like to add one more line to resize the content that
goes inside of box1 (layout.mxml) if possible. I'm just not sure
how to call properties from other mxml files. Especially when I
can't assign an ID to the root container.

layout.height = box1.height;
If I set the height inside the layout.mxml file to
height="{parentApplication.box1.height}" it doesn't update when I
resize the boxes.
Perhaps I could add an event inside the application that goes
off during a resize and a listener in the layout to pick up the
changes as the user moves their mouse, but it seems like there
should be a simple / elegant way of doing it within one
function.

Known issues with web viewer
Some scrollable frames in web viewer are no longer working properly with the v29 release. This issue is under investigation.
Social Sharing is not working properly for v27 and v28 apps for folios published after the release of v29.
Smooth Scrolling articles in web viewer may not display properly on the last page if the length of the smooth scrolling article is not an exact multiple of the folio height. For example, the last page of a 1024x2000 article may be cropped, but a 1024x1536 (2 times the height) or a 1024x2304 (3 times the height) should display fine. The issue is especially common in portrait orientation.
TOC images larger than 70x70 are being cropped instead of scaled.

Is it possible to make a preset that makes it crop all my images to 5x7 instead of camera crop?

All my templates for printing are made for 5x7 crops. So my cameras are all 4x6 crops and I want to import my images and have LR crop to 5x7. I've tried to save a 'preset' to save 5x7 but it doesn't save that crop? I can save everything else except a default crop.
I know that i can copy and paste those settings after I import, but it would be nice to have all that done when I import to begin with.
Or maybe theres another shortcut to do this?

The placement of an image into an image cell within a page layout, does not require you to have cropped the image (in Develop) to that same shape exactly. The same image can be used within different page layouts at varying aspect ratios.
Normally an image is scaled to FIT into its image cell without loss. This means that margins are left inside the image cell, outside the image area, wherever the aspect ratios do not match. However, by highlighting a given cell and checking the option to "zoom to FILL", the image is instead zoomed larger until no margins are seen. In effect, this is a second on-the-fly "crop" which only operates inside this page setup. By setting this option for all the image cells (good idea to save your layout as an updated page preset), you remove the need to crop images specially for usage within those.
If your image is (say) 4:3 - then this "print crop" will need to trim off parts of the image, to get it to 7:5 proportion. But the same would equally be true if you used the Develop crop, instead, to get it to that same proportion.
Benefits: you still can show / export the same image for other uses, at its original 4:3 shape - or any other shape - in parallel. You can "slide" the crop of the image to a better composition, right inside its framing window within a given page layout, interactively (if it is a free-form layout, you may need to hold the Ctrl / Command key so as to do that).
Personally, as a rule, I retain my as-shot aspect ratio for general purposes. I treat that as a distinctive property of each image, as I took it. I don't want to affect my careful general-purpose composition, merely because I may have printed it in a certain way. Printing is to some degree a separate matter: one can either present those whole-image compositions centred generously inside a variable-margin region of the page - or force-frame them tightly to a given shape on the page - as the whim strikes. And then save that as a Print Collection for future re-use.

IMovie HD Crop plugin corrupted

Does any one know how to fix the crop plugin in iMovie HD 6. This plugin stopped working for reason unknown, after giving an error message "Something wrong with the plugin Crop"

Try deleting the imovie preference file.
Close Imovie.
Then locate a file named com.apple.imovie.plist and get rid of it. Then empty the trash, run a permissions repair with disk utility and restart. That might do it. The files you need to delete are found in:
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist

Adobe Form output cropped when sent directly from SAP to printer

I have created an Adobe Form (not interactive) that looks perfectly OK when previewed in Adobe Acrobat viewer but when printed blank margins of 4-5 millimeters are applied on all 4 paper edges. The form was designed with a coloured frame around it but the margins effectively remove most of the frame. The form content is being cropped instead of being compressed inside the margins.
The form has been created with LiveCycle Designer via SAP transaction SFP. I am generating the form from an ABAP program
When the form is printed from the Adobe Acrobat viewer I have the option to set Page Scaling to 'Fit to Printable Area'. This makes the form content being compressed inside the blank margins and the coloured frame remains intact. If I leave the Page Scaling setting as 'None' the output is being cropped as described above.
The real problem occurs when I want to print without previewing first. I need to do that since previewing enables the user to skip printing and the application must know if the form has been printed or not. I have so far found no way to make the printer print on the paper edges or fit the content to printable area. Is there some setting in the output parameters than handles this?
Also there is a need for duplex printing when sending form directly to printer. On help.sap.com there is information about duplex print for SAPscript and Smartforms but nothing for Adobe Forms.

I have not set up the printer myself but when talking to the printer guy which settings should I recommend him to look at?
I can see in transaction SPAD that there are settings specific to SmartForms but there is nothing said about Adobe Forms. Is there some way to make Adobe Forms related setting appear in SPAD for a device type?
Maybe my problem is not related to the printer device settings but rather to the way the printer is being called. When printing duplex we will have to override the default settings of the printer anyway.
Function module FP_JOB_OPEN has a parameter structure of the type SFPOUTPUTPARAMS. Which fields in this parameter structure are to be manipulated to get duplex print and output fitted to page size?

Firefox ClassNotFoundException (works in IE6)

I've recently rebuilt a java application with about ten classes in the default package - rather than buried in a package three layers down.
Now, instead of running in IE6 and Firefox as it did before, it only works in IE.
Anyone got any ideas?

My problem is simply the scaling of the videos. The files are .flv-files and do stream very well from the source directory to my browser. But when I change the object-width or object-height the video is just cut instead of scaled.
If I change the videoHeight or videoWidth (in Flashvars) it has no effect. What am I doing wrong?
ps The player naturally scales the clips slightly larger than they really are. So I already guess that there's a setup-file with settings, but I have no idea where to look it up to configure the player.

IN CASE someone has this problem too, it seems the standard Adobe stream player integrated in the FMS-Installation (...) cannot resize the video. So the solution seems to be using another player. I'll use the free FlowPlayer which I also used for replaying .flv-Files, and which has a rtmp-plugin for streaming. Good luck folks...

Yoga 2 Pro Resolution Scaling Issues

So I just picked this laptop up from Best Buy the other day and so far I am loving it. However that is not to say that it has been entirely without issues so far and I do apologize if this issue has been brought up before but I was unable to find a decent answer in my searches.
I have checked this on a few games but I will focus on one that I want to play the most but also seems to have the most issues.
So this laptop is just not powerful enough to run a lot of games at the full 3200x1800 resolution and I totally understand that and was not expecting to, however, when turning the resolution down, say to 1600x900 instead of scaling the resolution to fill the screen, it runs it as the actual pixels inside a black box. This has the effect of making the games just too tiny to see, not to mention half or more of the screen is just being wasted.
This seems to really only happen when running a game in Direct X 11 mode, DX9 seems to work fine, but causes other problems and is really not a great option. Alternately, some games, I can set the windows resolution down (which scales fine in windows) and then the game will run and scale. However, specificially with Civilization 5 (one of the games I was most excited to play) it still does not work properly. There is a work around, but it is less than ideal, and I am at a loss as to why I just cant run the game at a lower resolution and have it scale and fill the screen.

There is a setting, however, when at native resolution, instead of giving the option to scale to fit display, it just has another option that says maintain display scaling or something like that (I am not on the laptop right now, so I have to double check). As far as I can tell it just does not scale properly. When I change to a non-native resolution, the options change and it then says scale to fit screen, which is what i want.
However, I would rather not have to change to a non native resolution every time I want to run a game. And, specifically in the case of Civilization 5, it doesn't help. The only thing I have found so far that works at all is to change the resolution to 1920x1080, then set the ingame resolution to 1440x900. It is a pain, and ends up in a streched picture.
I tried to install the latest intel drivers from their website (not sure if it would have fixed the issue, since there was no changelog) but it gave me an error saying they were not verified for my device.
This is a rather frustrating issue, especially considering that every computer I have ever owned up until this point has been able to scale the image to fit the screen with no problems what so ever.

I have had problems with Adobe DLM version 1.6.2.63 as it is not compatable with firefox 3.6.6.

Turns out that although libjavaplugin_oji.so is still shipped with Java, it's only there to support older browsers.
With Firefox 3.6 and later, the link in plugins should instead point to jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so

Photoshop tif won't open in Photoshop; launches Camera Raw plugin window

We recently upgraded from Creative Suite 1 to Creative Suite 3 (with Mac OS 10.5.4). I am trying to open a tif file that was saved out of Photoshop CS1, and it keeps launching the Camera Raw plugin window instead. I've tried saving as an EPS, then opening the EPS and re-saving as a tif. Doesn't help. I don't want to process this tif through Camera Raw each time it's opened!
Other images from the same photoshoot and saved in the same manner are fine (the tifs open in Photoshop as they should).
Is this a feature or a bug?

So why is it happening with only 1 out of 8 tifs from a single campaign that were all treated in the same manner (digital shots that were opened through Camera Raw plugin, manipulated in Photoshop and a layered PSD file saved, then flattened tif files generated)? The other 7 flattened tifs open directly into Photoshop without launching Camera Raw plugin.
And I can't find a preference that affects it. If it is "Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for supported raw files", I have it unchecked.
Any other suggestions?

GlassFish View Log File opens in editor instead of console

How to reproduce:
Open the Servers view, and bring up the context menu for a GlassFish server
Select GlassFish > View Log File
Actual: Log file is opened in an editor. Every time the file is changed, a popup is shown to ask whether the contents should be reloaded (unusable)
Expected: Log file is opened in Console view and provides the usual reloading and scrolling behavior
Eclipse: 4.3.0 (Kepler) (Platform 4.3.0.I20130605-2000)
GlassFish Tools: 6.0.3.201306271729
The question is: Can this bug please be fixed?

I've noticed that search is sometimes quirky in the console, yes. But that always felt like a bug in platform. Other than searching, usability of the console is superior: Automatically scrolling, Clear Console, Scroll Lock, Show Console when output changes, being in a view instead of an editor.
The editor is so bad that some people here refuse to upgrade to the new plugin version, instead installing the Indigo version from old workspaces.
How about just offering both in the context menu? They could be named something like View Log in Console and View Log File in Editor.

Microsoft has stopped development of WMP for Mac and now offers the Flip4Mac plugin HERE instead. It is not a universal binary yet and you will have to run the installed under Rosetta in order to get it to work.
