QT7 Pro - QTVR and Flash - Repeat question

Within Flash I create a user interface for my QTVR realty tours.
I export as a flat QTVR file.
Then within QT PRo 6 I am able to select the Flash Track layer properties (MOVIE - GET MOVIE PROPERTIES) and deselect the MOUSE CAPTURE ENABLED checkbox. This allows the VR to 'spin' properly.
I have asked this question before and I have heard nothing back from Apple so here it goes again:
I could not use the same workflow I used with QT Pro 6 (as above) with QT Pro 7 - I tried it back in May 2005. Has anything changed since then?
Has this Flash Track property been reestablished in any upgrades?
I thought that I had asked Apple - a long time ago - they said they would answer the question - but I have heard SQUAT!
Any help would be appreciated.
Peter.

The ability to edit the "mouse capture" properties has been removed from QT version 7. It is still available in version 6.5.2 (Movie Properties window).
I've installed version 7 of QT and use it with an older (previously hidden) copy of QT 6.5.2 Pro. I'm still able to remove the check mark from the movie properties on these files.
To install both version of QT Pro on the same OS you need to "hide" the older QT Player app prior to the upgrade. I just added 6.5.2 to the app name (Applications folder) and now can use both versions (and both different movie properties windows) during my work.

  • Early Mac Pro EFI and 64 bit Question

    I have an early Mac Pro 2006 and have been unable to successfully install Windows 7 64 bit due to EFI incompatibility (after installation was able to boot to safe mode but unable to otherwise boot; device manager shows that MacPro incompatible).
    My question is why Apple has not provided a firmware update for the early MacPros that includes the newer EFI version present in current generation MacPros??

    Let's see, different motherboard and you don't think that matters? the front side bus and memory operate differently, the PCI slots are configured different.
    You can't just "update" firmware to cross those bridges. And I'm sure there is even more involved between EFI32 and UEFI 2.x (EFI64).
    Vista SP1 wasn't out in 2006, and UEFI wasn't finalized and supported yet.
    Apple never provided 64-bit drivers for Windows on the 1st generation Mac Pro, and none of the iMac series has had UEFI or 64-bit endorsements.
    You figured out how to install Windows 7 from inside Vista, and probably how to get Boot Camp 64-bit. All you probably need is a small Vista or Windows 7 32-bit system partition to carry you forward.

  • FlashBuilder and Flash AS3 question

    I'm heads down working with the FlashBuilder tool which is heavy AS3, and have used Flash CSx for years.
    My question: I'm assuming my AS3 skills that I develop with FlashBuilder will be directly applicable to Flash CSx, correct? I understand I'll need the context of applying my AS3 code to the Flash objects when working in Flash CSx but for the most part will my AS3 skills carry over from FlashBuilder to Flash CS4/5?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

    AS3 knowledge and skills has nothing to do with editors/IDE (which CSx, FlashBuilder, etc. are) per se. So, once you get your hands on AS3 - it doesn't matter where you write your code - it will work the same way in the final compiled swf. Nevertheless, there is a learning curve involved while getting to know new development environment as with any new software.

  • MacBook Pro 13" and Thunderbolt Display Question

    I am considering purchasing a 13" MacBook Pro to use with the Thunderbolt display.  I do a fair amount of photoshop work and am concerned that the lack of a dedicated video card and the dual-core as opposed to quad core in the 15" will be a limiting factor. I would be purchasing the i7 with 8GB of ram in the 13".  Has anyone used this combination (Thunderbolt and i7 13" Pro) for Photoshop, and how has it performed?
    Thanks!

    Thank you for your response, I will definitely way that option more heavily. I was hoping to be able to accommodate the 13" form factor. As a student I bring my computer everywhere so the smaller size would have been nice.
    I
    f I may waste a tad more of your time, is the reason behind the GPU and quad core because of photoshop or the 27" monitor in general? The only reason I ask is that I am only a casual photoshop user so that alone may not sway me, but if powering the thunderbolt display is of a concern for the lesser device then the decision becomes much easier.
    Sorry to ask so many questions, I know a decent about computers but I am not too familiar with the thunderbolt adaptor and as such am not sure how that interacts with the GPU and such.
    Thanks again!

    I am about to buy a MacBook Pro 13" but need help deciding between the i5 model or the i7. I am in all kinds of engineering classes and will be running heavy programs on it. I will be creating mobile apps, will be using it to create large documents, and using Autocad. Which model would you reccomend? Also, I plan on buying next weekend, so will OS X Mountain Lion be pre-installed on it or will I have to update myself? Thank You.

  • Rman and Flash Recover questions.

    I am trying to understand some of the new features of Oracle 10g as they relate to backup and recovery.
    1) Flashback Query? I have looked thru many technical bulletins in the Oracle Technology Network and Metalink and am still confused as from where Flashback Query retrieves the data. Documentation seems to point to the Undo Tablespace. Is this is true I assume the Undo Tablespace would have to be quite large if you wanted to retrieve a record that might be > 1 week old on an active database. The undo_retention parm would have to be set quite large and the Undo Tablespace would have to be created with the "Retention Guarantee" clause. Correct?
    2) Backing Up the Flash Recovery Area to Tape?
    For all databases we backup with Rman this is the standard backup configuration we use for Oracle 9i.
    RMAN> show all;
    RMAN configuration parameters are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 100 DAYS;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
    CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO 'SBT_TAPE';
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF; # default
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE TO '%F'; # default
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARALLELISM 2;
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1; # default
    CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/crs01/app/oracle/product/9.2/dbs/snapcf_CRSP.f'; # default
    The standard Rman backup script we use is seen below.
    run {
    # Full database backup including the control file and spfile
    backup database format '%d_%U' ;
    # Switch logs before backing up the archive logs
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    # Backup all the archive logs for the past 5 days
    backup archivelog from time 'sysdate-5' format '%d_archives_%U';
    # Mark unavailable backups as expired
    crosscheck backup;
    # Delete backups older than 100 days
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    delete expired backup;
    # Delete archive logs older than 7 days
    delete noprompt archivelog until time 'SYSDATE-7';
    # Backup control file again
    backup current controlfile;
    resync catalog;
    If we use Flash Recovery area and have enough disk space for two days of Rman backups to be stored there we must move anything over two days old to tape. The command "Backup Recovery Area" backs up the Rman backups in the Flash area to tape, correct? Will any of the
    configuration or backup commands listed above have to change? Upon execution of the Restore command in Rman will Rman know to retrieve from tape a backup > 2 days old?
    Thanks

    Hi David
    1.yes u need large undo tablespace that hold information for long time.
    and set undo retension parameter according to need of flashback query.
    But Don't set "Retention Guarantee" because when u set this parameter it will fail DML transaction on database.
    because it will give importance to retail data in undo.
    In simple Scenerio(No Guarantee Mode)
    if DML required undo space in undo tablespace then it will overwrite expired undo and select query may be fail with "snapshot too old error"
    But when u set it to undo retension then
    oracle will not able overwrite on expired undo and u r DML query fail..........
    so in normal prod database we will give more importance on DML query rather then Select query
    so Don't use undo retension to gurantee mode.
    But u can use in dataware house where query take long time to fetch result even in days.
    2.u need to config MML for taking backup of rman to tape directly.
    Thanks and regards

  • Macbook pro 13" and external monitor question

    Hi,
    I got a mbp 13" 2010
    I would like to buy a  HP 2510i monitor http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02076507 &lang=en&cc=us&taskId=115&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=3757979&prodTypeId =382087
    Today I brought my macbook to a computer store and connected it to a samsung monitor 27" using mini-display to hdmi cable.
    When i mirrored the screens I got two black areas on the left and right. basically it wanst fullscreen. (macbook res is 1280x800, so I think I got the same resolution on the external monitor)
    But when I disable the mirror option Its all good and supports 1080p resolution.
    How can I get fullscreen(1080p) even when I am mirroring the screen? will this hp monitor be able to do this?
    thanx

    You can change your screen resolution by going to system preferences and displays from there you can select the bes resolution. However you will never get is perfect as the ratio is different from your ho screen to your mac. You could either go without mirroring (what I do with my cinema display) or plug it into your screen and then shut your mac lid so the dock moves onto the ho screen and it becomes your only display. You would however need an external mouse and keyboard to control this.

  • DVD Studio Pro - Markers and burning DVD questions

    Hi everybody... I'm not very experienced in DVDSP, actually this is my first professional project with DVD Studio.
    I have three issues I don't know how to solve:
    1. I have 4 differents video tracks in my DVD. Each track has some Chapter markers. When I use the simulator to test the NEXT/PREVIOUS Chapter everything is ok and when the last Chapter of the current video is reached, if I press again "Next Chapter" nothing happens and that's ok. The problem is that when I test the DVD in my DVD reader, pressing "Next Chapter" when the last chapter of a video is reached goes into the following track. I do not want this to happen, I just want to limit the chapter next/prev on the current track. Is it possible?
    2. I set precise chapter markers for the beginning of a new section. On Mac Simulator and Apple DVD Player everything ok, but on the actual standalone DVD player the audio of the next marker is cut for about 2 sec... So the chapter is not exactly as design, first moments of the audio cannot be heard and that's very bad because this is a video lecture... Anyone has experienced that or has an idea on how to solve?
    3. I read in the forum that to burn the actual DVD many suggests to use Toast instead. When I create the build and import in Toast the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files, I see that DVD Studio creates some layout non DVD standard files in the VIDEO_TS folder. Some suggests to remove these two files. It is safe?  Why DVD Studio includes them in the build if they are NOT according to DVD standards??
    Thank you so much for anyone who can help!!
    Andrea

    Merlino wrote:
    3. OK so if it's safe to remove the files from the build manually no problem. I've found only two files one .LAY and one .layout. Are there any other files that need to be removed?
    No, those are the only ones.  One other item that you've probably already figured out: The Orange Book ("the DVD Bible") is very specific about content and very limited in what it allows. I believe the reason for this is that the specs were decided almost 20 years ago and as compared to current electronic devices, the players are dumb as a rock. While we're all willing to deal with this, it leaves one significant pitfall: If you are not careful with the naming of your "Build" folders you'll quickly have dozens of identical folders with contents that appear identical except for how many identically named files they contain.
    I've adopted a policy of religiously naming my build folders with descriptive and explicit names ("Wash D-I Recital 2013 Build 1") and stayed away from anything that requires me to remove the .layout file. It is the only actual identifier 'til you open the VIDEO_TS folder in a player. DVDSP doesn't actually remove the layout files, it just discards them from the data stream as it burns the files.
    That said, thanks for the work-around idea you came up with; you're going to be a really good author with that kind of savvy.

  • Screen is grey and flashing apple, question mark and warning symbol

    I was working on my computer when a message appeared on my screen telling me my hard drive was almost full. I tried to delete some files, specifically Logs files, and then continued working until my screen froze and I had to shut down. When I rebooted the following appeared on my screen.

    Sorry, but you did not post your image. Please use the camera icon in the message composition window's toolbar to upload your image into your post.
    Meanwhile see:
    Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
    You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
    You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
    Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Why won't my MacBook Pro start up? White screen and flashing question mark.

    Hi,
    I've had my MacBook Pro for almost 2 years now and I installed OS X 10.8 about 4 months ago.
    Today I turned the MacBook Pro on and a white screen with a flashing question mark appeared. I tried then getting the startup manager up: turning on the laptop and immediately holding in alt (option). But nothing appeared for about 25 seconds until a rotating Earth labelled 'Internet recovery' appeared that gave me options to join wireless connections. However, my internet wasn't in the options and when I tried typing in the information required to join my internet the laptop would just load and never find it.
    I then tried putting in my Mac OS X install DVD (10.6.7) and help in C until the apple logo appeared on the screen and the little rotating loading circle appeared. That then disappeared and a cicle with a cross through it appeared (similar to a no entry sign). Then after about 30 seconds a blue screen followed by a grey screen appeared until eventually the disc ran properly. I then went into Disk Utility but there was no option called Macintosh HD, only the discs content. It wouldn't let me first aid, erase or repair anything.
    I'm totally stumped and have 4 exams at university within the next 2 weeks. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me out here?
    Thanks,
    Best wishes,
    Connor

    The support article linked below is somewhat outdated. Where it refers to starting up from an installation disc, you should instead start up in Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    If you don't have a current backup of all the data on the startup volume, and you want to preserve that data, then you must try to back up before you do anything else. Ask for instructions if you need them.
    Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to reinstall OS X from Recovery, if necessary. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

    I just bought a 2013 late model Mac Book Pro Retina and am wondering if it is worth installing windows through boot camp.
    If I install the windows component in order to run an exe file and its component "Declans Korean Flash Cards"... will it make my mac suseptible to viruses overall due to having a windows component? also will it make my mac slower as well

    If you are only going to use one or two window only programs then I wouldn't waste the space.  Try WinonX it allows you to install exe. Files on Mac without installing windows.

  • Flash CS6 and Flash Pro CC questions

    I have the Adobe Creative Suite CS6, I just seen that Flash has a new version "Flash Pro CC" I need to know the following.
    WIll Flash Pro be available on its own? Or is there a CS7 Creative Suite coming?
    Main differences in Flash Pro CC  and Adobe Edge Animate?
    I do not see any of this info available as my business seems to be pointing to more app creation and HTML5 animation in the future. Adobe Edge is a good tool but there is no tool that can stand beside Flash when it comes to animating and I would hope that in some way shape or form, masks and some other features which were avaialble ONLY in Flash are now somehow integrated in Flash Pro?
    Any info appreciated.
    thx
    RD

    "edge is stictly an html animation tool.  flash pro is much more, but even in the realm of html publishing, i'm not sure there's anything that edge can do that flash pro cannot.  (there might be, i just don't know.)"
    This is a very good point as anyone who knows Flash would agree that it would be a godsend if Flash Pro CC would allow the user to create Flash based animations and then export to HTML5 while preserving the tools in Flash like masking which is not available in Edge. Having worked in Edge plenty of times it still requires alot of coding when you are doing button states and the overall nightmare of audio not being totally perfected to work in HTML 5 without 3rd party javascript libraries makes it difficult.
    So, Flash Pro CC is ONLY available in Creative Cloud for a subscription, correct?
    I have the new Lynda.com overview of Flash Pro CC and will have a look but in the meantime you are a Flash god and have helped me numerous times, many thanks !!!!

  • Installed new hard drive and flashing question mark appears

    I bought a new hard drive for my macbook pro (mid 2009) because my original harddrive bit the dust... I purchased it off of amazon which states that its specifically for macbooks and the reviews appeared to back it up. I saw a lot of people with great reviews of the same model of macbook that I have so I figured it was the best solution.. I connected the new hard drive but I am getting the dreaded flashing folder/question mark. Is this normal before re-installing the OS x? Heres the problem, I am out of town on business and do not have the original OSx disc on hand. So my question is, is the flashing question mark normal upon installing a new harddrive? and if so, is there away to install the OSx onto the new harddrive without the disc?
    my macbook was running mavericks before the harddrive went to poo, however I did try to re-install mavericks before i ultimately realized that I needed to new harddrive. I noticed that rebooting my mac with command+r would give me the option to reinstall mavericks without a disc or anything. the next question I have is, would this still be do-able on the new harddrive? I tried the command+R option on the new harddrive but nothing happens.
    Can someone help me out here, I am getting a little desperate as I have gone over a week without my mac and theres so crucial things I need to get done! Luckily I have all my stuff backed up on an external hard drive, I just need to get the mac running again. Thanks for taking time to read!

    1. Yes, it is normal. If there's no OS on the drive, there's nothing to take the computer past that point.
    2. No, there's no way on that Mac model. You need to use an existing system(see #4).
    3. Not on that Mac model; it doesn't have the Internet Recovery system, and there isn't a recovery partition on the new drive.
    4. If the backup drive contains a bootable clone of any compatible OS, or a Time Machine backup created from Mac OS X 10.8 or newer, connect it and restart the computer with the Option key held down. If it doesn't contain either, you can't.
