Quantizing audio parts?

I imported an audio part, cut it up with the knife tool. Then out of curiosity, I moved a slice slightly off the grid and started looking to see if there was a way to quantize it back to the grid. I can't find anything. For midi the quantize is visible, but as soon as you select an audio part, the quantize dialogue goes away. Is this the case that there's no quantize for audio parts in Logic Pro 7, or am I missing something?

hi, yes you can quantize audio clips..........
bare in mind the anchor on the clip dictates its position, not the absolute start of same. (these can be in the same position).
to quantize audio splices, select them, and open the edit list. go to it's highest level and there you will see these highlighted.
press the Q button on the lower left, select the value and unclick.
done, like an indian curry!!!

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Logic pro x quantizing audio

    Hi,
do you think it is possible to quantize a short audio loop? I am trying to use a short loop from a song but when I detect its TEMPO it comes out irregular and I cannot make an appropriate drum track. What is the best way to overcome this issue? In a tutorial I have seen that there was a quantize option that I think is not more utilized and been substituted with Follow Tempo. If I cannot quantize audio, How can I transform an audio file into MIDI?
    Someone can help me?
    Thank you.
    Angelo

If it's a drum loop, convert it to a sampler track.
Just do option-click or right click on the region to open the context menu. Navigate to Convert/New Sample track. A dialog  pops up, you need to select "create zone from transient markers', adjust the note range, if needed and click OK. Now, the audio will be chopped and loaded into the EXS and a MIDI track will be created. Open the MIDI region to re-quantize stuff, re-order, etc. It's real fun!!
    Enjoy!

  • Open audio part of e-CD

    Hi,
I did a cross platform enhanced CD (audio + data). on Mac, it
opens 2 sessions: audio and data, so the audio is not "hidden".
On PC, the autoplay from the windows explorer uses my
autorun.inf and doesn't opens the media player to play the audio
files. So, how do I add a button in my projector named "play audio"
to actually play the audio part of my e-CD ?
    thank you,
    ludo.

Thank you KRMult; I've been trying to use this script but it
doesn't works. I'm not a director expert (obviously) and I'm just
using it to publish my flash movie on the data session of my e-CD,
so I'm not familiar with lingo.
I looked for the global CDAudioDrive and cdAppPath functions
but I don't know what to do with those (no topics on the help with
that syntax). And the script you wrote stops on the "if
    baFileExists" part in the debugger.
Can you please be specific about what should I do and how to
use this script (and maybe where can I read about CDAudioDrive and
    cdAppPath).
    thank you,
    ludo.

  • Flextime - quantizing audio tracks??

I'm just wondering if there is a way to use Flextime to quantize live audio tracks (as opposed to sampled audio tracks).  Example:  I've got this wonderful accordion track, traditional music ... the tempo moves all over the place.  I want to experiment with adding an untraditional rhythm track / bass.  I've tried beat-mapping ... but even though I can track the accordion, the varying tempo of the added rhythm tracks just sounds weird.
Is there a way using Flextime that I can do the opposite: get the accordion (live-audio) track to quantize to a click track?  Ideally all at once, as opposed to me having to rebuild it all note by note.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated,
    Ben

    Hi
Were the original audio recordings done in Logic 9? If they were, they will automatically have the 'original recorded tempo' (of the original project) embedded within the file. This can cause problems with Flex.
If need be, you can remove the tempo info using Options:Tempo:Remove Tempo Info...
If you have enabled Flex, the files are analysed and Transient Markers added. If you did this with the current project at the "wrong tempo", you may need to remove the transient markers and start again.
It is usually better to beat map 1st, to get the tempo/tempo changes close, then enable Flex to "pin" the Transients to the current tempo map. Once done, you can easily switch tempo maps to another (possibly static) tempo map, and Flex can do it's magic.

  • Video clips freeze up when an audio part is locked to it.

I have imported around 200 clips. When I extract the audio from a clip and lock it to another clip for a voice-over, the video part of the clip freezes and then lurches ahead to wherever the playhead is. When I tried to attach a song to a clip from iTunes, the same thing happened. This did not happen in the past (Dec. 2007) but I have recently upgraded the OS and iMovie. I checked for the minimum requirements for iMovie 5.0.2 and the apple site says, "g3 400mhz and 256mb ram". I have QuickTime 7.5 installed. Is it the processor not being able to handle the newer version of iMovie?
    help,

I looked for any discussion on this problem and did a search but did not find anything until after posting this question. I found an extensive thread on what is called a "stutter" at the following location:

  • Down Loading only audio part of lectures from itunes

I use my Ipod classic only to listen to lectures (downloaded from Itunes) while exercising. I do not require the movie/video part. So my only interest is in the audio portion of the podcast. Some lectures e.g. from Oxford University are video based lectures that take hours to load.I have downloaded the Kant lectures in only audio form but I do not how I got it right! Will any kind soul please help me.
My continued and undiminished gratitude to the person who can help out
    Thanks again in advance

Downloaded the Kant lectures in audio only form or synced them to your iPod in an only audio format?
I'm not sure if you can download videos/lectures from the iTunes store in an audio only format.  However, you can set them up to sync to your iPod in an audio format by changing the video's Media Type from under its Options tab of the Get Info window.

  • Only play the audio part of my H.264, mp4 Video??

    Hey guys,
Im currently running Lion (10.7.3) on my macbook pro, but i also have windows bootcamped on here as well. I was doing a bit of gaming on the windows side and i used a program called "Fraps" to record some of my gameplay, and i then wanted to edit it with iMovie '11. Fraps uses its own codec, and its a .avi file nativly. I used a program called "VidCoder" to convert the Fraps codec .avi video to a H.264 codec mp4 video, so that way i could (theoretically) import it into iMovie. BUT ALAS!!! its not working...the veryyyy strang part of this is that i have done this before, and it has had no problems. In fact, i still have the clips on here from last time, and i am able to play them just fine. I used the EXACT same program to encode, with the EXACT same settings. I cant only hear audio when using quicktime, and iMovie wont even let me import them. Any help on this would be great!!! Feel free to let me know if i've been to vauge, or if you need more info.
    Thanks,
    Aaron
PS. Heres a shot of the vid i cant get to work, and the one from a while ago that works just fine.

Im not a pro, so alot of that in jibberish to me, but i did try encoding it with a lower bit rate (around 10,000 i think) and it successfully played via QT. what is the difference between a 79,000 bitrate and a 10,000 bitrate??
Basically, the Profile and Level define the combination of settings/limitations that adhere to a particular "standard." As previously mentioned, Main Profile Level 3.1 is very common for Apple software and hardware products which appear to come close to the settings for your "working" file. This combination for instance would allow data rates up to 14 Mbps (14,000 Kbps) with 1280x720 @ 30.0 fps while a Main Profile Level 3.2 file would allow a data rates up to 20 Mbps (20,000 Kbps) with 1280x1024 @ 42.2 fps. From this and the fact that your stats did not include the frame rate and/or whether or not the file was encoded anamorphically, I "guestimated" that you might have a "standards" issue in the Level 3.1 to Level 3.2 range for any Baseline, Extended, Main, or High Profile H.264 encode. Your results for the re-encoded file seem to confirm that the data rate was the problem here—i.e., that the video data rate at 80 Mbps was beyond the range of the Profile and Level designation for the file while 10 Mbps was not. Your ability to encode using non-standard settings is one of the reasons that Apple has moved more and more toward the use of device "presets" which prevent novice users from making such relatively simple mistakes when creating files in any of the QT based apps.  Hope this helps you to understand the problem better.

  • Cant seem to quantize audio regions?

I have read the manual which says the following:
"In order to use quantization on an audio region, you need to assign a flex mode to the parent audio track, and select the Flex parameter in the Region Parameter box for that region....
To change the quantization grid division for selected audio and/or MIDI regions
Choose a value from the Quantize pop-up menu in the Inspector’s Region Parameter box."
I've done that but nothing happens??
Also I don't understand the correlation between the track parameter box, and the region parameter box, do I have to set them both to the quantize setting that I want, or just one of them?? I have tried it all ways and I cant get it to work.

Worth downloading MPC quantizes if you can - they were made for drums. (Wish Logic would come up with some new quantizes though - they've been the same since year dot)...
You can download the MPC quantizes here:
    http://www.logic-cafe.com/Article_View.asp?ID=14&CategoryID=8
You'll need to open the above Logic song & copy the folders to your song (preferably your own template so that they're there every). Open the MPC folders in the song, select all regions simultaneously, then select "Make Groove template" from the Quantize menu in the Inspector. Hide the folders (don't delete them - they need to be there in order for Logic to remember the Quantizes).
You can also make extensive use of the "Delay" offset in the inspector (moving regions forward or back in time in small increments) or better still use the "Nudge Left" / "Nudge Right" functions (set to ticks ors samples). I have these two buttons (as well as "Nudge Value") permanently in my arrange toolbar.

  • Quantizing Audio Tracks without Strip Silence?

    Hi Y'all,
I'm kind of a nube, but I cannot figure this out. I've figured out from other folks' posts that the "strip silence" feature is only for Logic Pro (right?). So, that being the case, how do I quantize my audio tracks? For example, a common scenario is I play several bars of 8th notes on my guitar, and, having no rythym, I want to quantize them. Here is what I am doing now:
    1. Cut the audio file with scissors into individual notes
    2. Arrange the anchor point of each individual 8th note to the peak
    3. Quantize them in the Event list.
This works, but it's super labor intensive, and hard on the old carpal tunnels. Is there an easier way, short of buying Logic Pro? Many thanks. - Josh

Hi, try to use the "Enhance Timing" Plug-In on the Guitartrack.
It has to be inserted in the first slot of the channel strip.

  • Macbook Pro does not play audio part of video

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro (early 2013 with OS 10.10.1).
A colleague sent me a video file, which was originally recorded in MTS format. The sound portion of it does not play on my machine, although it generally can handle MTS. I have a colleague with a Windows PC, for him the audio plays ok. I have another colleague with an older MBP, for him the audio also plays ok. But then I have two more colleagues with a newer MBP like me, and for none of us the audio plays at all. The strange thing is that I can open the file in various editors such as Premiere, Audition, or Logic Pro, and they would all show the waveform of the audio, even the VU meters react normally, but there still is no audible sound.
On the machines that play the sound, we have tried converting the video and exporting the audio portion into various other formats, but with the very same result. None of them play sound for me. This is extremely weird and we have no answer what could be the problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks a lot & best regards,
    Rainer

    Hi Eric,
    thanks for the reply.
As I said, we had tried several editors and players, as well as all kinds of formats, using all kinds of converters, but so far to no avail.
The AAC codec is a common codec for the Mac, so there should be no need to convert it. I have videos with that codec that play ok. It already turned out that converting the video file to other formats does not make any difference.
    But thanks anyway,
    Rainer

  • Begin audio part way into presentation

I want to begin music in a presentation about half-way through rather than at the beginning. Is that possible?

Greetings and welcome to the Forum:
This topic has been addressed in numerous previous threads in the Forum. Try searching on the keywords music, hyperlink, soundtrack, etc.
Briefly, if you want to begin a music track that will carry through several slides, it must be created as a Soundtrack for a presentation that encompasses those slides. If these slides are a subset of a larger presentation, then you need to create separate sub-presentations, each containing the particular group of slides. Each then can have its own soundtrack. Finally, you will have to link the presentations together via Hyperlinks.
If you want a music track to play through only one slide, that is easy: Just drag the file icon for the music track into the slide; select it and the assign it to Start Audio in the Build-In menu. Be aware, however, that the track will stop playing as soon as you progress to the next slide.
So, a quick answer to your question is "maybe" but it depends on how you want to structure your presentation.
    Good luck.

  • How can I listen to only the audio part of a video?

I have the iPod Touch 4th Gen with 6.0 software. Sometimes I prefer to listen to movies or TV Shows instead of watching them, and I want to be able to turn the screen off while the video is still playing to save battery power. I've tried turning it off to standby then double clicking home and using the multitaskbar techniques but it just won't work! Is this even possible for this kind of software?

If you find out anything new, please tell me, thanks!
