Quarter folds?

I just purchased pages to replace Publisher.  But seems like there is no template that easily allows a quarter fold document.  All the printing on one side of the page, then fold in half and half again to make a little program.  Am I missing something?

You can easily create one your self and save it as an template.
Or look at http://www.iworkcommunity.com/ if there is one you can use as a template.

    I've just bought a mac mini and love it.
    I'm still moving over from MS products to Apple and it's going pretty well apart from MS Publisher.
    This still seems to be better at certain things than Pages.
    One issue is the lack of templates for cards in particular.
    Does anyone know where i can get hold of a quarter fold card template for Pages?
    I did see one but it was for Pages 09 and version 5.5.2 doesn't seem to open it.

    You can use a free Avery for MS Word Greeting Card. Click the Template Only (works with PC and Mac) radio button, and then download. Open in Pages v5.5.2, and first save as a Pages document in your Documents folder. Set the font, etc. to what you want in your Quarter-fold card template. Once you have done that, from the File menu, select Save as Template, and give it a name. While you are there, observe what a right-click on the template name presents in a pop-up menu.
    When you open Pages without specifying a document, it will default to a Template Chooser. Your Quarter-fold template is parked in the User Templates category.
    Pages v5.5.2 is not designed to compete as a true Desktop Publishing/Layout application. If you want to open Publisher documents on the Mac, get a free copy of LibreOffice, which will open them. Since it is not Publisher itself, your mileage will vary on layout accuracy. The LibreOffice PDF documentation is available, and created with LibreOffice. Since this is a superset, MS Office replacement package, there is a forms designer in the Writer application, and the ability to open PDF and edit them also exists. There is also complete Visio support from the first version to the latest.
    When you first launch LibreOffice, you must click the open button in the initial dialog, and afterwards, a double-click will open it normally. This will be true for any Mac applications obtained outside the OS X App Store.

  • Printing Quarter fold envelopes.

    I have a Photosmart C8180 All in One printer and it doesn't  have a quarter fold print option listed in the ppaper sizes.
    Is there a way to adust the printer to do this?

    You can try the following.
    1. Click on the Start menu.
    2. Click on Printers.
    3. Right-click on your printer.
    4. Select Run as Administrator
    5. Select Printer Properties.
    6. Click on the Advanced tab.
    7. Click on New Driver.
    8. Click Next.
    9. Select HP from the first list.
    10. Select Deskjet 990c from the second list. If the 990c driver isn't there, use the Deskjet 450 driver.
    11. Click Next.
    12. Click Finish.
    13. Click Apply.
    14. Click OK to close the window.

  • I am printing a Quarter fold card, using a IMac Desktop.

    I am printing a Quarter fold card, using a IMac Desktop. The "printable area" is small for all panels to print on. How can I change manually the printable area size, somewhere in the "Printers Folder" ?  I know I can't change the size of the printable area with just the regular settings.     I have an HP 6540 printer.   Please advice.

    Welcome back to the forums @Macdog64 
    I read your post about changing the printable area size, and I am honestly unsure if this can be done. I would suggest trying the HP Photo Creations software to see if you can change the area size. It could be worth a shot!

  • Half fold & quarter fold cards

    How do I make a half-fold (takes a full sheet of card stock) or quarter-fold card in PSE 6? When I go into the Create part of PSE it only gives 2 sizes of cards 5x7 and 4x6. The only cards I find locally are the half and quarter fold which are standard Avery templates. I can do these with other programs that don't have a lot of options. I would like to be able to do them in PSE but I don't want to have to fiddle and mess. Does PSE make use of standard Avery templates? IF not is there an easy way to do this?

  • How do you make a quarter fold thank you or invitation card on 8.5x11 card stock?

    I am trying to find help for Pages, and make a Thank You note using 8.5x11 card stock, but the printing is either upside down or on the wrong 1/4 of the paper, and I can not find any help from Pages.

    I inerpreted the question to refer to the process of printing both sides of the card on the same side of the paper and then folding in quarters since he referred to "1/4 of the paper." Well, one of us should be right.

  • HP Photosmart 309g-m ink usage, etc.

    I purchased this all-in-one from NewEgg.com in January 2010 for $119 on sale. I was thrilled because I was looking forward to owning an HP printer. I used to have an old dot-matrix and loved it. I was replacing a Lexmark X5150 which had served well for five years, but was giving me problems feeding paper, especially envelopes. Also, I thought the ink for the Lexmark was expensive. I was replacing cartridges on the Lexmark about every 3 mos. at a cost of $78.
    Since buying the HP Photosmart 309g-m all-in-one in January 2010, basically less than 3 mos. ago, I have spent $178.50 on ink as of April 22, 2010.  Yes ... One hundred, seventy-eight dollars. I have replaced all color cartridges three times since January and they now need replacing a fourth time. I have also replaced the black cartridge three times and the photo black once, although I have printed a maximum of four 4 x 6 photos -- only those printed as a test when I first installed the printer.
    I do not print extensively every day. The printer is for home use, almost exclusively printing occasional greeting cards, five 8.5 x 11.0 pages per week of 5.5 x 3.5 postcards using Microsoft Publisher 2002 (4 per 8.5 x 11.0 page, not using all the page space), greeting card envelopes, or other relatively small projects such as two 8.5 x 11.0 pages per week of 3.5 x 2.0 business-size cards with color images (10 cards per page) for a children's Sunday School class.  
    I have kept a record on my computer. Since last replacing all color cartridges, black cartridge, and photo black cartridge between 3/31/10 and 4/10/10 -- a MAXIMUM of 22 days, I have printed 112 documents, some of which were entirely black text, and some of which were 4.375 x 5.75 envelopes (i.e., small). That averages to approximately 5 documents per day, although, as said, I do not print every day. NO PHOTOS, and several documents in black text only or small envelopes.  
    The point of this post is not to ask a question -- unless it is how does HP get away with making and selling such an blatantly avaricious product. The point is to warn others and to vent my EXTREME anger and frustration. This all-in-one is a total rip off.
    I have read other posts on this forum from those who have similar ink usage issues, and not just with the 309g. If it were possible, I would post every where on the web to warn people about these HP products. I personally think it is abominable that they are allowed to produce this kind of product when they KNOW they will rake in a fortune on printer ink.
    Do not be misled by the sales pitch that individual color cartridges are a bonus. All color cartridges run low within days of each other and nothing color can be printed if one of them is too low. In addition, it is not possible to determine which low cartridge is responsible for the inaccurate colors on the printed page. Recently the color on a project printed streaked and it required replacing the black cartridge to cause the color to print correctly. I have had similar experience with needing to replace a magenta cartridge in order to correctly print a project where most color in the image was green, yellow, or blue. And, it is not necessary to inform me that the cartridge colors must mix to produce the exact color. That is not the point. The point is it is misleading to advertise that it is a helpful feature to be able to replace only the colors needed when that fact is useless practically speaking.  
    There have also been other issues with the 309g-m. The learning curve was extreme, and I am not a novice. The software is limited. It is necessary to create a new paper size under custom sizes for every project that involves something other than the preset sizes HP has decided "most people" want, and that includes something as simple as a half-sheet of 8.5 x 11.0 paper. It is not possible to print two-sided projects correctly if the project is a 4.25 x 5.5 booklet (half an 8.5 x 11.0 page greeting card format to avoid "quarter folding") produced in Microsoft Publisher 2002, because HP's software arbitrarily decides the user needs certain margins to allow for binding. Thus it is not possible to customize the software to individual creativity. As a matter of fact, if one changes paper size to 8.5 x 5.5 and the format to booklet in Publisher, HP's printer software will not even allow two sided printing.
    The scanner bed is slightly raised so that scanning a page from a large book, or a portion of a large sheet does not produce a clear image because the original cannot be placed flat on the scanner bed.  Scanner resolutions had to be modified to prevent grainy or speckled image results. The scan to computer option on the LED screen does not work unless one has the HP Solution Center enabled on startup (or takes the time to start it before attempting a scan).  
    I have read HP's article about ink usage and find that they have designed this equipment to USE INK.  Between every document printed, if you choose to print only one copy, the printer "adjusts" itself, using ink. Every time it is turned on, it "adjusts" itself, using ink. Every time it has set idle, even though on, for a period of 5 min. or so, it "adjusts" itself, using ink. And it was designed this way ... not, as HP asserts, the provide superior printing, but, rather, to provide superior bottom lines for HP from ink sales.  
    It is a travesty that HP is allowed to do this.
    This may never be posted, but I hope it is, and I hope people read it, and I hope others do not get stuck with $119 all-in-ones that cost $178 in ink within the first three months to print color documents, no matter how small or how infrequently. I can't imagine what I would do if I were trying to use this for a business! As soon as I am able to afford it, I will ditch this piece of equipment and buy something else. And HP can be assured I will not stop talking about it for a LONG time.

    I'm seeing a lot of comments posted on the 309g's ink use, but your experience seems most like my own.  I ran into another 309g owner at an Office Depot and that individual reported the same sort of results.  My question is this:  at what elevation is the town in which you live?  I (and the person I met) live at about 7500 feet and the 564 cartridges act as though the ink is is actually evaporating.

  • C6380 Trouble Printing Cards

    When I set up for a quarter-fold card to print, it looks perfect on the preview screen, but it prints differently. The margins are all messed up and it prints starting at the very bottom of the paper. This is so annoying and wasteful, as well. What's wrong with this thing?

    Is there an HP printer that allows borderless printing and has an 8.5 x 5.5 format as a standard option? Also needs to be something that can handle a thicker card stock.

    when I print my greeting card on 8.5x11 paper quarter fold it cuts off part of the border or text and or picture. I've tried to change paper setting or print setup. It says print A4 what is this ?? My paper is just standard 8.5x11 please HELP

  • When I try to choose a new folder to save a bookmark the resulting pop-up window only shows the top lefthand quarter minus any buttons, FF4 in Ubuntu Lucid

    When bookmarking a page, I click on the star or the menu. The 'Edit This Bookmark' window appears, I click on the folder arrow and select 'Choose'. The resulting window shows a large black shadow with the top left of the actual window. If I run the cursor across the black shadow various parts of the missing window appear and I can complete the operation, but it obviously sould not be doing this. I am using FF4.01 in Ubuntu 10.4 Lucid. I have taken a screenshot if you need it.

    I have the same problem.  I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad -  clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad.  WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

    Megan, I agree with Rob. Here is what I teach my students. When you shoot (it doesn't matter if JPG or raw; if both, just delete the JPG before importing), what you conceptually have is a negative (of course, it's actually a positive). I keep the organization simple and put all my images (with two engineering details specified below) in one "bucket", my Negatives folder. I export my favorite pictures, potentially (probably) after some editing, to a subfolder under my Pictures folder. So, if you have taken img1.jpg, img2.jpg, and img3.jpg, after import, you'd have, maybe, d:\negatives\img1.jpg, d:\negatives\img2.jpg, and d:\negatives\img3.jpg . Maybe you edit and want to save the first image as a flower picture, don't do anything with image 2 (or delete it), and export image 3 as a portrait. Perhaps, you'll end up with d:\pictures\gardens\roseGardens\xyzGardenDallasTX\20121211'DoubleDelight'Rose(338pm).jpg and d:\pictures\family\john\20121211(1131a)JohnStudyingCrystalCreek.jpg.
    Now for the engineering details. Most people will cycle through the image names (img_0001 through img_9999), so I divide my negatives folder by quarter - 20124Q, for example. The other "gotcha" is that if you are shooting with more than one camera, set one to be your default camera. Pictures from other cameras shoudl be renamed - e.g., "img_3773{PowerShotS100}.jpg" so that the images don't overwrite each other.

    I hope, that this will read somebody from Aplle, because this is really huge mystake in your almost flawless EMAIL client!!!
    BTW (My Macbook Pro Unibody, which costed 59 000 CZK. It is Equal to 3200 Dolars (Yes in Europe is Apple really expensive) and I got 250 Gbytes big HardDrive!!
    So I'm really ****** know, because for some stupid reason MAIL Application gets one quarter of my drive?!! BTW, I'm not begginer with MAC (I'm Mac possitive from Tiger and this is my 3rd Laptop, but I guess that could be the last ONE!!

    Good luck not having problems with that other system... especially if, at the first sign of trouble, you throw a little hissy fit and throw around a bunch of blame.
    A more productive approach would be to start troubleshooting. The first thing I would do is to see what is in the Mail folder and what is taking up the space. A good tool that will help with this is [OmniDiskSweeper|http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnidisksweeper>, which will show you sizes of stuff on your hard drive. It tells me that my Mail folder is 234.4 MB. (I have six accounts, including a GMail account.) Looking inside, OmniDiskSweeper tells me most of the space is taken up by the Mailboxes folder, and then I can look in there and see which mailboxes are taking up the most space.
    You also may be the cause of your own problems. If you have set Mail to not delete sent messages and to not store them on the server, and you have sent a lot of messages with large attachments, they'll still be sitting in your Sent box, taking up space.

    If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
    To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
    See:
    Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

    If you ran this query as a SQL query in the database you would also get no rows for quarters when there are no values. Discoverer cannot invent data that does not exist. You cannot invent values in a table where those values don't exist in the database.
    What we need to do is come at this from a different direction. You need a folder of years and quarters that is outer joined to the transaction folder to get the mark, substituting NULL with a 0. This is standard practice in a reporting environment and basically what you are doing is creating a mini-star schema.
    Try creating a new custom folder something like this:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    YEAR, QUARTER
    FROM
    DATE_TABLE
    You should now have a folder that, if queried on its own, results in something like this:
    Year | Quarter
    2002 | 1
    2002 | 2
    2002 | 3
    2002 | 4
    2003 | 1
    2003 | 2
    2003 | 3
    2003 | 4
    and so on
    If you don't have a date folder then you can create a custom folder like this:
    SELECT 2002 YEAR, 1 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2002 YEAR, 2 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2002 YEAR, 3 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2002 YEAR, 4 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2003 YEAR, 1 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2003 YEAR, 2 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2003 YEAR, 3 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    UNION
    SELECT 2003 YEAR, 4 QUARTER FROM DUAL
    This will give you a new folder containing a Year and a Quarter
    Next you create an outer join from the year and quarter in here to where you are picking up the Mark. You will now get all years and quarters as well as the mark if it exists.
