Query Builder Form

Hi all,
I built a simple query builder form:
<cfif IsDefined('form.query')>
<cfquery name="queryDemo" datasource="TestProduction">
#form.goQuery#
</cfquery>
</cfif>
FORM
<ul>
<cfform name="QueryForm" action="" method="post">
<li><label>Type Query</label></li>
<li><cftextarea name="goQuery" cols="100" rows="6"></cftextarea></li>
<li><cfinput name="query" type="submit" value="Run Query"/></li>
</cfform>
</ul>
<cfif IsDefined('form.query') and queryDemo.recordCount gt 0>
<cfform action="" name="resultsForm">
<cfgrid query="queryDemo" griddataalign="center" name="QueryResults" width="700" autowidth="yes" height="700">
</cfgrid>
</cfform>
</cfif>
When I run a "where" clause such as where type = 'LCR', I get an error. Has anyone tried this before? Please provide insight.
Thanks.

  • Query Builder Form Hide

    Hi Guys,
    I am working on a requirement for manage attachment functionality. But I am facing one issue in one scenario.
    From Manage attachment screen, User clicks on Search From Repository and in search page there are some default or hidden fields. Like where author is match with the login user and etc. For Expanded form there is no issue. All the hidden fields are not coming and search result is coming fine. But if user changes to Query Builder Form and manually modify the query then user can see all the content.
    So I want to stop the user to show the Query Builder form by which he/she could not modify the query and search. Is there any process by which we can hide the Query Builder Form?
    I have seen one Jonathan blog: https://jonathanhult.com/blog/2012/06/remove-fields-from-query-builder-search-form/
    But I would like to full hide the form.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Santanu

    Hi Guys,
    As part of the above solution  (DisabledSearchFormTypes=queryBuilder), the query builder form will never appear. Which is not a good practice.
    Because for development this is very useful.
    My intention was to stop the user access Query builder Form only in Manage attachment screen.
    So I have created one custom component which will override the resource : query_page_menus_setup and check the xIdcProfile value.
    If IdcProfile is PSFTProfile or EBSProfile then it will not appear.
    <$exec rsAppendNewRow("PageMenusData")$>
    <$PageMenusData.nodeId = "QUERY_BUILDER_FORM"$>
    <$PageMenusData.parentId = "SEARCH_FORMS"$>
    <$PageMenusData.label = "wwQueryBuilderActionLabel"$>
    <$PageMenusData.type = "item"$>
    <$if #active.dpDisplayLabel like ("EBSProfile|PSFTProfile")$>
    <$else$>
    <$PageMenusData.href = "javascript:switchQueryForm('queryBuilder')"$>
    <$endif$>
    I think this is really good.

  • How to specify an outer join in query builder

    I've very quickly built a large query with the query builder, and it works fine, but only produces 9 out of 2200 records - so I need to change it to an outer join.
    My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to specify an outer join. I've tried editing the query that query builder formed, but it won't let me.
    I know I can capture the query, edit it and run it in sql developer, and that works fine, but I want to use query builder as it is the fastest way I know of to quickly add and remove items - my users are unsure of exactly what to include.
    I know it is kind of a trivial question, but i've searched the forum, the manual, the web and no luck
    Thanks for any help you can give
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,
    When you use the Query Builder to create the sql statement, you should click on the empty square to the right of the fields on each table to create the join. When you've done this, you should see a line drawn between the two tables. Click on this line and a small popup appears allowing you to select inner, left outer or right outer joins.
    Once the report has been created, though, you need to edit the statement. For example, if you use the Query Builder to join DEPT to EMP based on the DEPTNO field on both tables, you get:
    select      "DEPT"."DEPTNO" as "DEPTNO",
          "DEPT"."DNAME" as "DNAME",
          "DEPT"."LOC" as "LOC",
          "EMP"."EMPNO" as "EMPNO",
          "EMP"."ENAME" as "ENAME",
          "EMP"."JOB" as "JOB",
          "EMP"."MGR" as "MGR",
          "EMP"."HIREDATE" as "HIREDATE"
    from      "EMP" "EMP",
          "DEPT" "DEPT"
    where   "DEPT"."DEPTNO"="EMP"."DEPTNO"Change this to:
    select      "DEPT"."DEPTNO" as "DEPTNO",
          "DEPT"."DNAME" as "DNAME",
          "DEPT"."LOC" as "LOC",
          "EMP"."EMPNO" as "EMPNO",
          "EMP"."ENAME" as "ENAME",
          "EMP"."JOB" as "JOB",
          "EMP"."MGR" as "MGR",
          "EMP"."HIREDATE" as "HIREDATE"
    from      "EMP" "EMP"
          LEFT OUTER JOIN "DEPT" "DEPT" ON "DEPT"."DEPTNO"="EMP"."DEPTNO"Andy

  • Query Builder and Expanded Form in Search

    I've changed the labels of some metadata fields like content type. In the expanded form it shows OK, but in the query builder drop down it's still content type. How can I change it?
    tnx in advance

    Hi, where did you make the change of label?
    I use rules, so the way I do it (and it shows for both query builder and extended search) is by putting the value in the "use custom label" when I edit my rule.
    cheers

  • CM14 BI Publisher - modifying an existing Data Model, the Graphic View in Query Builder does not display

    I am trying to edit the default forms/reports that come with CM14, trying to edit the data model, data set, (to get to the old Infomaker style graphic view) , the Query model does not display (error the list of tables is too long..) Oracle tell me the limit is 60,  there are not 60 tables referenced in any CM report.
    Does this Query builder view work at all on any report?
    (bigger question, we are moving from CM12, should we move to CM13 which works with infomaker?)
    Thanks,
    Paul L

    Kurt, thanks for your replies.
    A couple of notes/clarifications.
    1.     You are correct that BI works better in Firefox--I have observed issues with the BI display when using IE.  I would recommend using Firefox too.
    2.     You are correct about the way to get to the Query Builder to see a graphical view of data tables.  There are basically two issues with this that I mentioned, but will re-iterate:
    a.  If you have an EXISTING query in the data set, then click the "Query Builder" button, this will remove the existing query that's there, it will NOT display the existing query in the query builder.  Query Builder works only to create a NEW query from scratch.
    b.  Query builder is limited to selecting 60 fields max in your query.  If you are creating a large report with many tables, you may find that 60 fields is not enough.  For that you will have to work in the SQL edit screen rather than using the query builder.
    I would impress on anyone developing CM14 reports that they become familiar with the database schema and relationships to avoid problems when developing your BI reports.  You should be able to find the tables and joins documentation in the knowledgebase.

  • Internal errors during Query Builder

    Please help me to correct a problem. Database user has a very simple cube: a measure with two dimensions. User (named "warehouse") owns it, the fact table, the dimension tables etc.; client application connects using warehouse account too.
    While QueryBuilder makes a data source, one dimension (providers) fails at the some selections; for example, selections "top 10" and "last 3" works, but selection "measure value &gt; 10000" fails; the other dimension (services) works great with all selections tried.
    "Fails" means that selection step can be selected (moved from "available" to "selected" box), but cannot be configured (edited) at any manner, both in the left and right boxes - for example, I cannot edit value "10000". This selection cannot be applied too. Visually query builder does nothing, but prints exception trace (see below).

    I need to pass a query in form of string to DBMS_XMLQUERY.GETXML package...the parameters to the query are date and varchar ..please help me build the string .Below is the query and the out put. ( the string is building fine except the parameters are with out quotes)
    here is the procedure
    create or replace
    procedure temp(
        P_MTR_ID VARCHAR2,
        P_FROM_DATE    IN DATE ,
        P_THROUGH_DATE IN DATE ) AS

    The correct way to handle this is to use bind variables.
    And use DBMS_XMLGEN instead of DBMS_XMLQUERY :
    create or replace procedure temp (
      p_mtr_id       in varchar2
    , p_from_date    in date
    , p_through_date in date
    is
      l_xml   CLOB;
      l_query VARCHAR2(2000);
      l_ctx   dbms_xmlgen.ctxHandle;
    begin
      l_query:=  'SELECT
        a.s_datetime DATETIME,
        a.downdate Ending_date,
        a.downtime Ending_time,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downusage,3),''9999999.000'') kWh_Usage,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downcost,2),''$9,999,999.00'') kWh_cost,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(B.DOWNUSAGE,3),''9999999.000'') KVARH
      FROM
        (SELECT s_datetime + .000011574 s_datetime,
          TO_CHAR(S_DATETIME ,''mm/dd/yyyy'') DOWNDATE,
          DECODE(TO_CHAR(s_datetime+.000011574 ,''hh24:'
          ||'mi''), ''00:'
          ||'00'',''24:'
          ||'00'', TO_CHAR(s_datetime+.000011574,''hh24:'
          ||'mi'')) downtime,
          s_usage downusage,
          s_cost downcost
        FROM summary_qtrhour
        WHERE s_mtrid = :P_MTR_ID
        AND s_mtrch   = ''1''
        AND s_datetime BETWEEN TO_DATE(:P_FROM_DATE,''DD-MON-YY'')
                           AND (TO_DATE(:P_THROUGH_DATE,''DD-MON-YY'') + 1)
        ) a,
        (SELECT s_datetime + .000011574 s_datetime,
          s_usage downusage
        FROM summary_qtrhour
        WHERE s_mtrid = :P_MTR_ID

        ) B
      where a.S_DATETIME = B.S_DATETIME(+)';
      l_ctx := dbms_xmlgen.newContext(l_query);
      dbms_xmlgen.setBindValue(l_ctx, 'P_MTR_ID', p_mtr_id);
      dbms_xmlgen.setBindValue(l_ctx, 'P_FROM_DATE', to_char(p_from_date, 'DD-MON-YY'));
      dbms_xmlgen.setBindValue(l_ctx, 'P_THROUGH_DATE', to_char(p_through_date, 'DD-MON-YY'));
      l_xml := dbms_xmlgen.getXML(l_ctx);
      dbms_xmlgen.closeContext(l_ctx);
      insert into nk values (l_xml);

  • Query Builder functionality

    Has anyone built a Query Builder Page in the apps that is similar to the standard APEX Query Builder?

    I haven't done exactly this, but remember doing a tabular form genarator (similar to the tabular form wizard in the builder) choosing tables, columns and field types. But that was using Apex 3.2, now that we have jQuery and dynamic actions in Apex 4.0, it should be much easier.
    If you looking for an approach, here's one
    <li>create a left side bar region with tables from schema: report or list based
    select table_name from user_tables<li>On click of the list entry, show a modal dialog of a report based on the columns of the selected table
    SELECT * FROM USER_TAB_COLS WHERE table_name = :<TABLE_NAME ITEM> Show images based on column type ("data_type" in user_tab_cols)
    Checkboxes return the column name for each row
    <li> Have a dynamic action that runs for each checkbox calling a PLSQL to update a collection adding the clicked column name to the the list.
    Refresh a updateable report region which is based on the collection , showing the column, sort order,group by options
    and JS code to move rows up or down (
    move_up code (pseudo code)
    this_row = $(this.triggeringElement).parents('tr:first);
    prev_row = this_row.prev();
    next_row = this_row.next();
    //move up
    prev_row.before(this_row);Then the SQL code generation would concatenate the application arrays containing the column names adding columns one row at a time and adding sort and order options. You would need to some custom PLSQL coding, looping throw each row adding predicates.

  • A way to convert selection from query builder in DML language

    I search a way to convert selection from query builder in DML language.
    regards

    We will make a sample from this request and post it on OTN. I have pasted all the JSP code so you should be able to use it directly. Just change the BISession details and the presentation references.

  • Function in report query builder

    Hi,
    It is possible to call a function in the select statement of a report query builder as followed :
    select my_func()
    from my_table
    The function is defined as :
    create or replace my_func() return vachar2 is
    v_temp vachar2(100);
    begin
    v_temp := 'column_1, column_2, column_3';
    return(v_temp);
    end;
    Therefore, the query should be interpreted as:
    select column_1, column_2, column_3
    from my_table
    and the fields "column_1", "column_2" and "column_3" with the same alias name would be created for the report.
    Thank you,
    DS

    Ok. Here is the way!
    Create user parameter p_query. Datatype Character. Width 10000. Set initial value as
    select RPAD('n',10) c1, RPAD('n',10) c2, RPAD('n',10) c3 from dual
    ** Suppose type of column 1, 2 and 3 is character and maximum length can be 10. So using this in above select statement.
    Get value in After Parameter Form trigger
    begin
    :p_query := yourfuntion;
    return(true);
    end;
    data model will have only this:
    &p_query
    Now you will see three columns in data model
    c1
    c2
    c3
    NOW error ORA-24333 can appear, when function/procedure doesn't return back anything for data model, I mean lexical parameter p_query is empty.
    ** You can replace whole select statement with lexical parameter.

  • Group by clause using query builder

    Hi,
    I have some event pages (pages created using a template called event) which are tagged with event types and I have 5 event types in total. In the event listing page, i want to show the events grouped by event types.
    Is there a facility in query builder to use "group by" which returns be results in different buckets?
    Is thats not the case, i have to run 1 query per event type which means i have to run 5 queries. (or i get the event type as facets -> get the buckets -> get the predicate for each bucket -> run one query per bucket which again is nothing buket one query per event type). I dont want to do that.
    Hence using the query builder or any other form of querying, is there a way to group the results?
    Regards,
    yadhu

    Perfect... thats answers the query...
    Basically the summary is I cannot use aggregate functions like group by. Once i get the search results, i can either use facets, get the bucket predicates and drill down the search OR get all the results, do look up on property (using Node.getProperty) of each node in the result and build my UI based on mere coding. Am I right?

  • Query Builder - foreign key relationships not showing automatically

    Is it standard functionality in APEX that foreign key to primary key relationships are not shown in Query Builder when choosing related tables? Do you always have to join FKs to PKs manually (i.e. using control click) whenever you create joins in queries? In Oracle forms and SQL Developer the foreign key constaints are always draw in automatically. Any reason why this is not part of APEX's query builder as well? It's such a hassel to have to put them in each time when the relationships could easily be read directly from the data dictionary constraints.
    regards

  • How to use Query Builder as a component inside our applications?

    I am very new to Apex, but I loved it until now :)
    After my first experience I am thinking to advice Apex as an Oracle database reporting environment to some of our marketing and sales guys. These guys are familiar to basic SQL and table, index concepts and their need is to create dynamic reports, take their output to excel and email these reports all around the company :)
    My first question is can Apex 3.1 work with 9.2 - 10.1 - 10.2 and 11.1?
    My second question is how can I open the Query Builder inside the Create Region>SQL Report wizard to my users inside a custom user defined form?
    My third question is if the answer of second question is it is not possible, then anyone can advice on alternatives for this kind of a need with Apex?
    My last question is how Apex can handle a distributed database environment, like Java applications can it open several database connections as needed?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    My first question is can Apex 3.1 work with 9.2 - 10.1 - 10.2 and 11.1?Correct. That's said in the installation guide.
    My second question is how can I open the Query Builder inside the Create Region>SQL Report wizard to my users inside a custom user defined form?This does not yet exist out of the box. You can have a look how Oracle did it and try to mimic it in your own application.
    My third question is if the answer of second question is it is not possible, then anyone can advice on alternatives for this kind of a need with Apex?Import app 4500 in your own workspace. On page 1002 you should find the query builder.
    Again you can't just run this, you would need to make customizations to it. Alternatively you can add just a textarea on a page where you can run SQL statements from. But I guess you want to have the graphical display?
    My last question is how Apex can handle a distributed database environment, like Java applications can it open several database connections as needed?APEX is living in the Oracle database. So everything inside that database you can potentially work with. If you need data from other sources you can use a database link or hytrogenous connectivity. Basically if you can do it from the Oracle database, you can also do it from within APEX.

    Dimitri

  • Only Query Builder can be installed in PC?

    I'd like to know if only Query Builder from Form or Report Developer can be installed in PC. so I can continue to use stand alone Query Builder 6.0.7.
    . and if that's possible , is there any place that I can download that? or it may well be possible to install just that component?
    Regards.
    Jung Kyoo Lee.

    You can't download it separately, it part of the development environment. I think you can install it alone off of the 6i CDs though.
