Query builder, procedural builder - Oracle 8.17

I'm running Oracle 8.17 and I can't find query builder, procedural builder, report builder form builder and other builders. Where can I get these? I tried the universal installer and there are no options to install them.

Hi Fraser,
Thank you for responding.
I think I fixed that problem, actually there was a spelling
mistake in one of the parameter files.
But now I get another error message, says:
"ORA: 02068: following severe error from MSOLEDB
ORA: 28511: lost RPC connection to heterogenous
remote agent using
SID = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)
(HOST=LOCAL_HOST)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=
(SERVICE_NAME=<SERVICE_NAME>)))
Do I have to configure the SQL Server network utilities?
I pinged both the servers ,they talk to each other.
But when I use tnsping ,the client machine (i.e.,the SQL Server
machine)talks to server(Oracle machine) but the server doesn't
talk to the client.
I am definitely not doing something right.
Asha.

  • Procedure Builder - where to find

I can not find Procedure Builder. I have installed Oracle 9i (9.0.1.1.1) and Oracle 9iDS. Earlier on, proc builder used to be a part of application development where forms builder, schema builder, procedure builder, reports builder, etc., all were clubbed together in one location. I have looked at the bin subfolder of the client machine. I just can not find it.... Will somebody please help.
    Thanks

Can't help you there, I never used Procedure Builder to debug. I've always done it the old fashioned way, with dbms_output and sqlplus. I only use PB to fix syntax errors and find line numbers...
I noticed that Forms 9i has a "Debug" menu containing several tools and a console. Maybe that's what you're looking for....

  • Procedure Builder does not come with Oracle 9iDS r2 (Complete)?

    Hi All
I have enjoyed using Procedure Builder - but did not see opportunity to install with the Developer Suite.
Does anyone know where I could get PB? I am not interested in using the version that comes with Forms 6i...
    Thank you!

Procedure Builder is no longer a stand alone product.
You can still edit and debug PL/SQL procedures from inside Oracle9i Forms.
You might also want to take a look at the PL/SQL development capabilities of Oracle9i JDeveloper.
It gives you the ability to debug PL/SQL stored procedures and it also has a helpful code insight when you write PL/SQL code in it.

  • Execute Dynamic SQL statement using procedure builder

i want to execute a dynamic SQL statment using procedure builder not using forms
because my statement depending on a variable table name

    FORMS_DDL('SQL_STAT');
but i wanna to use the procedure builder
which function i should use and how?
please explain in example if you don't mind.
    thanks

    Hi,
You can very well use DBMS_SQL Package supplied by Oracle for doing this.
Search for DBMS_SQL in OTN. You will get all info regarding this.

  • Problem in connecting to local db in procedure builder

I install oracle 8i for window 2000 personal edition in my local computer and also forms & reports 6i. I create a db during installing of oracle 8i. By using the sql worksheet I build up several tables. But when I try to use procedure builder in forms 6i to connect to my local data base, I can not. I do not know which userid and password and database name I should use. I tried scott/tigger or system/manager, all give me an error: can't find the service. Can somebody help me with the connection to my local database in the proceduce builder?

  • Procedure Builder 9i developer suite

I have done a full install on my Windows 2000 machine, but can't find Procedure builder installed (or an option to install it). Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    thanks, robin

Nothing is wrong, it is simply not there. Check out the obsolesence paper on OTN.
You can still debug and create stored procedure from within Oracle Forms.

  • Procedure builder for 8i Personal

    Hi
Had my 1070 training (PL/SQL) and want to prepare for exam.
I downloaded (and installed) the 8i personal edition. Now there's no procedure builder included in this package, only SQL*Plus.
Found out that ProcBuilder is included in the Developer package, so I downloaded this also.
8i Personals Universal Installer is V 1.6.0.9.0. When You try to install additional Products with it, it wants You to search for "products.jar", which is nowhere to find in the developer temporary installation directory (created from the zip).
So I ran setup from there (developer), and installed Procedure Builder only. I had to make another Oracle home, as he didn't let me install into d:\ora\ora81, so I made a d:\ora\orant. (A bunch of other stuff was installed also). Now I can start Procedure builder, but he doesn't connect (even when I type in exactly the same as in the SQL*Plus in my ora81 startgroup).
Error: PDE-POC011 ORA -12154 Servicename could not be resolved (Additional error depoc4).
What did I do wrong? (I had no dba training, so actually I'm in a blind flight, not knowing what actually I'm doing!)
All I want is the environment as in the training room, where I can run SQL*Plus and procedure builder to train and learn what they told me there. I spent several days now, don't ask me for my phonecosts for downloading several houndred megs, as the CD I got in the training didn't work at all, and I had to remove everything several times manually (including registry) No idea what all I missed to remove.
Any help possible with this sparse description?
    Thank's in advance
    Martin

I already have Oracle 8.0 Personal Edition, and I can start that database without any
password. But If I want to run SQL*Plus, then
I use SCOTT/TIGER as username/password and that works fine. But with this newer version
(Oracle 8i Personal Edition), I am having problem just starting the database.

  • Procedure Builder in 9iDS

Hi, I am looking for procedure builder in the Oracle 9i DS. Is there such a product? Has it been discontinued?
    Thank you, -Cecil

Procedure Builder is no longer shipped as a stand alone product in Oracle9i Developer Suite.
What do you want to do with it? If you are looking for a PL/SQL development/debugging environment you can use Forms or even JDeveloper -
    See : http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/database/db_overview.html

  • Regarding "Procedure Builder"

In my PC I installed Oracle9iDS which is downloaded free form Oralce website, but I couldn't find "Procedure Builder" in this suite. So "Procedure Builder" is not included in DS free version? Or I didn't install properly?
    Thanks in advance

As far as I know, Procedure builder is not available beginning with Oracle9ids(Experts, correct me if I am wrong). You may want to start looking at Oracle's JDeveloper.

  • Looking for Procedure Builder

My understanding is that Procedure Builder is supposed to be part of the Oracle Forms software. I have installed the 9i Developer Suite, but cannot locate Procedure Builder. Where should I be looking? Any help is appreciated.

procedure builder is not part of Oracle9i Developer Suite anymore. See the Oracle9i Forms obsollecence paper on otn.
You can still use Oracle Forms to build stored procedures and debug them with the new debugger.

  • Add subquery to main query in Report Builder 6i

Usually, when you add a subquery to an existing query in a report, you'll see the query in data model marked by a paper clip icon with a forward slash across it (means "Subquery Inside"). All current field names in current query (except CF and CS) will have a '1' appended after it (CF and CS fields are not affected), but in your sql, the column names stay the same. So there is an out-of-sync situation with the column names.
    To fix this:
    1) before change anything, back up old report somewhere else
    2) copy the original query somewhere else as backup
    3) open the query in Report Builder
    4) wipe out the query, replace it by "select 1 from dual" to reset it and press ok.
    5) replace "select 1 from dual" with your new query with an embedded subquery.
    6) All field names will be without the '1' appendix.
    7) check all the CS fields, the source should be reset to null. Redefine the CS fields using backed up report as reference. CF fields are not affected.
    8) move the fields and restore the break orders according to backed up report.
    9) Recompile whole report.
    10) save report again and you're done.
Maybe you don't need this in the latest version of Report Builder, but in 6i, this is what I do.

If you use aliases for your item names in your original query you avoid this problem....
    eg
    Select field1 item1, field2 item2 from table.....
item 1 and item2 will stay in your layout between query changes.

  • How to build wizard in Oracle Forms?

How to build wizard in Oracle Forms? Is it possible only in JDeveloper?
    Regards
    Rajesh Kumar

What do you mean here - you want to extend the Forms Builder with your own wizard, or you want to build a Forms Application with a Wizard Style interface?
If it's the First then you can't, if it's the second then check out the 9i demos there is a re-usable wizard component that shows you how to do it.
