Query Migration from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0

Dear All,
We are in the process of migrating from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0 and need to find answers to the following-
Will the query variants created with BEx 3.5 and BW 3.5 be available with BEx 7.0/ BEx 3.5 in BW 7.0.
What all settings need to be made to ensure tht the queries are migrated intact, with variants and other features.
Are there any tables where this data can be found.
We are planning to go-live with 3.5 functionalites as they were, its a technical upgrade.
Regards,
Saurabh Diwakar

Hi Diwakar,
For Query migration - u have to do one simple thing only...
i.e just open the query in 3.x and save it ... then it will be automatically migrated to 7.0...
Hope it helps..

  • Query Migration from 3.5 to 7.0

    Hi All,
We have a upgrade done from 3.5 to 7.0.
We need to migrate queries which were developed in 3.5 to 7.0.
As of now, we are migrating EACH query by opening it in 7.0 and Saving it.
    This works fine.
But we have N number of queries of diffrent projects.
Any pointers how to migrate ALL the queries at one time in 7.0.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Prashant

  • Query Migration from bw3.5 into BI7.0

    Hi friends,
I need to run the queries in BI7.0 which are in BW3.5. How can we do this and what are the prerequisites.
    Thanks&Regards

    Hi,
    Chk out this link....
    /message/1969749#1969749 [original link is broken]
    /message/2324740#2324740 [original link is broken]
All the queries will work if the peratining objects exists in the warehouse. Other than this there aren't any spl measures that actually needs to be taken care to while running the query on BI  7.0, to my knowledge.

  • 9.2.0.6 - 10.2.0 migration, now unable to query file_name from dba_data_fil

I'm in the process of migrating from 9.2.0.6 to 10GR2.
Despite the pre upgrade script specifying there was adequate space in the system tablespace, it ran out of space during the run of catupgrd.sql. I left the script running so only discovered the errors this morning.
However, when I query dba_data_files no values are being returned for any of the file_names for the tablespaces.
I can't resize the system tablespace, I can't shutdown the tablespace because of the space issue in the system tablespace.
Has anybody else come across this problem and know how I can resolve it?:
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
thanks for your reply, yes I got a null value for the file name though the file_id was being returned.
I added more space to the system tablespace and re-ran the upgrade script but I got different errors, re-running the upgrade script seems to cause more problems though the documentation says it's OK to do this.
I'm going to start again and clone the database and ensure that there is plenty of space in the system tablespace before starting the 10GR2 upgrade and hope that things go more smoothly this time around.

  • Driver and Driver Package migration from 2007 to 2012 R2 query

    Dear Team,
I am in the process of migrating the drivers and DriverPackage from SCCM2007 to CM2012 . I am following the below steps and also i am getting below warning message while doing Driver migration.
    1) Copied all the driver source path from SCCM2007 to 2012 folders and shared the same.
    2) By using migration Utility , i have migrated all the drivers from 2007 to 2012 .
    3) After the migration i have changed the dirver source path at CM2012 side pointing to new CM12 driver source path.
    4) I have started the DriverPackage migration.
    5) After the DriverPackage migration , i have changed to DriverPackage Source path at CM12 side pointing to new CM12 dirverpackage source.
Please help me my steps and procedure and suggest if anything i need to do extra .....
    My question and observation :
    1) During the driver migration , i got a warning message like . Some drivers not able to migrate due to unsupported by CM2012 .
        a) Is there any way i can find unsupported model drivers before or after the migration
        b) Is there any other process to migrate Unsupported drivers from 2007 to 2012 other than manual import or script basis
    2) After the DriverPackage migration and after the change in the DriverPackage source path. I am not seeing any folder creating in DriverPackage new source path (I understood the reason).
       a) Is there any way i can recreate those folders in new source path after the DriverPackage Migration ?
       b) What is the best process for the DriverPacakge migration from 2007 to 2012 regarding the SourcePath.
    Thanks in advance....

  • Migration from MySql to Derby

I am currently migrating from MySql to Derby.
I have been developing a MRPII package for a while now and whilst my classes worked with MySql I am finding difficulty with implementing them using Derby.
I have developed a GUI interface for MRPII functions and use a Database Interface class to connect to the database.
The Database Interface class gives me the capability of reading and writing from a database.
I extend this capability to sub classes ie part, customers, suppliers, work orders.
The problem I have is with the ' "+standardCost+" ' type statements. In MySql, the database engine recognises that the standard cost variable is a double though using Derby I get the following Errors.
SQL Exception: Columns of type 'DOUBLE' cannot hold values of type 'CHAR'. In Save Data error code30000

Executed statement INSERT INTO part VALUES('BUDGET500', 'PENTIUM','76.0', '86.0','EACH','MP','7','33')
The only solution I see is giving each subclass of Database Interface the individual capability within that class to connect to the database and use prepared statements.
Does anyone know if Derby has the capability of processing the updates using a similar format as shown in my code.

I am currently migrating from MySql to Derby. Dear God, why?I am using the embedded functionality.
    >

MRP as in "manufacturing resource planning"?Yes

and whilst my classes worked with MySql I am
finding difficulty with implementing them using
Derby. That suggests that your Java code relies too heavily
on MySQL features. You didn't make your code
    portable enough.
I have developed a GUI interface for MRPIIfunctions
and use a Database Interface class to connect tothe
    database.
The Database Interface class gives me thecapability
of reading and writing from a database.
I extend this capability to sub classes ie part,
    customers, suppliers, work orders.
The problem I have is with the ' "+standardCost+"'
type statements. In MySql, the database engine
recognises that the standard cost variable is a
double though using Derby I get the following
Errors.Right - you're counting on something that might not
be true for all databases. MySQL appears to be doing
an implicit conversion from string to double. Bad
    idea.
SQL Exception: Columns of type 'DOUBLE' cannothold
values of type 'CHAR'. In Save Data errorcode30000
SQL Exception: Columns of type 'DOUBLE' cannothold

    VALUES('BUDGET500','A1',

    Executed statement INSERT INTO part
    VALUES('BUDGET500', 'PENTIUM','76.0',
'86.0','EACH','MP','7','33')Do you use PreparedStatements to escape strings and
dates for you? If not, you're in for a bumpy ride.
The only solution I see is giving each subclass of
    Database Interface the individual capabilitywithin
that class to connect to the database and use
prepared statements.I would not have a single database interface. Each
class has its own requirements. How can a single
class know about all of them? Better to break your
persistence layer into several interaces, one per
persistent class. That is what I thought
    >
Does anyone know if Derby has the capability of
processing the updates using a similar format as
shown in my code.I think your code is in trouble, Jim.Probably so, thought a redesign is not so much of a problem now as I am a bit more experienced than when I started out.
    >
You don't use prepared statements, which would help
    with your portability issues.
You have SQL embedded in the objects. I'd move it
out into a separate persistence layer.
You might want to read about Hibernate, an
object/relational mapping layer. You've got objects
and tables. Hibernate tools or Middlegen can
generate the XML mapping files for you. Once you
have those, you'll find that Hibernate will make
porting to another database a lot easier. It can be
as easy as changing configuration files.
I'd also look into Spring. It has some great
plumbing to help you deal with databases and lots of
    other stuff.

  • What are the Issues in Migration from oracle 8i to oracle 10g

    Hi,
Can you let me know what are the issues that i face when i migrate from oracle 8i to oracle 10g. I will be very thankful if you give me a list of issues that you face while migrating from 8i to 10g

In addition to Max's reply, you must be aware that you have to test your applications agains 10g database before you actually upgrade the database.
If you use CBO, it may produce different execution plans for one query when you run it in 8i and 10g. This may affect your application performances, which you don't like to happen.
Also you have to decide how much downtime you can afford during the migration. Can you afford some downtime and how much? If you can't than this makes the situation more complicated.
How big is your database? You may end up only with simple export/import solution using export import utility.
The bottom line is, whatever you decide, you must test your applications running against 10g database before you actually upgrade your database.

  • Very difficult migration from MS Access to Oracle with SQL Developer

    Dear Developers
I have tried to used for one Project Oracle Sql Developer Migration from Access to Oracle (Application Express). Was about an evaluation if Oracle Express (with Application Express) or Mysql (with PHP) as target database.
I am working with Oracle for 14 years and i earn my money in projects related with Oracle. Of course i am sentimental and i push every time when an opportunity comes to have as an option Oracle.
This time beside my sentimental approach the decision was different.
I will tell you why and i hope that someone there will listen and make something for a better Product.
I was trying yesterday the whole day to migrate an Microsoft Access database. A nightmare....
    1. Microsoft Access Exporter 2000 was too slow. For a 25 MB Access database, running time was 15 Minutes. And 15 minutes to obtain an undocumented error. I followed your instruction and eliminate all references etc... as you described in HELP. a lot of time necessary to read and do..... After that i obtained an Error #..16. Sorry that i don't provide you with an exact number error. i don't have it right know and personally i am not interested anymore. For this error i don't find nothing in forums about it.... Search again and again..... Every time after waiting 15 Minutes in which you don't know exactly what application does or if really does something. I decided to delete sequentially macros, modules, forms, querys from Access database and see where Exporter stops... Time and time lost for trying and searching.... Finally i obtained my XML file only by keeping my Access tables. The file was produced even if i obtained at the end Error #5:..... Because was an error i am not really sure if the file was completly consistent with my database.
    2. I followed the next steps and with some errors (enabling, disabling constraints, objects couldn't be created because of different reasons) i had my Model and Oracle Schema. I have tried to export the data from Access and import it in Oracle. data exported was in UTF8 and SQL Loader Control file doesn't have
    LOAD DATA
    character set utf8
So i tried to add the string "character set utf8" in my dozens of CTL files - with a freeware of course.....
Maybe you can say that if i knew that from the beginning i would have set my character set in SQL Developer. I don't know and i will not ever try with this product!
So finally after hours of working and trying and playing with my nerves, reading a lot of forums and documentation, i had an Oracle schema, maybe incomplete because of different errors at so much migration stages.
And now i have tried for the first time in my life MySQL Migration Toolkit. I read that for migration to MYSQL this tool is what i needed.
I recommend you to try the product and see something about the quality required for a piece of software. Is not enough if your product runs OK with Nortwind DEMO Access database. It should run OK with all ACCESS databases.
With the tool i have done the job in 5 MINUTES. Simple, efficiently and without errors. At the end i had the SQL Scripts and the DATA imported in the database.
Difficult to say something now. I am sentimental but i asked mysef if you can do something to improve the quality of the product.
What arguments can we provide for a client in Migration from Access to Oracle ???? Can you honestly answer at that?
Please try this MYSQL Migration Toolkit.....Maybe this give you some ideas about simple tasks and about what we really need...
    Best regards

    Dear Barry and Kgronau
Thank you very much for your response. My Post was after a long day of trying to import an MDB file.
Maybe you can understand why i was so angry...
Yes i understand that your tool try to do more than other even if actually you don't really convert too much.
From Modules to make some procedures where the whole code is commented! .....
For other MDB which i tried to import in APEX the forms where really not usable. Queries are full of errors requires most of the time manual corrections.
I am sorry that i can not provide you with this MDB which cause these problems.
Data and software doesn't belong to me and the company which own it can not provide to you.
What i hope from your product is, even when errors come, to show a better error explanation. At what object in Access error ocures ? This is very important because i can correct my MDB or just delete the module, form, query in cause if SQL Developer doesn't like it....
Just showing an error Error #.... doesn't help me too much. And if an error occurs i don't know if program continues to work or is dead. No information about this. Maybe you can show that your application is alive and does something (working status etc...) ! Anyway we wait long minutes in front of dead screen....
Again, thank you very much for your attention

  • Problem with some queries after migration from MS Access

    Hi everyone!
We've just finished a migration from a MS Access database and we notice some errors when running some queries like :
    Query1:
    SELECT A.field1, A.field2, B.field1 as FieldTmp
    FROM A,B
    where (B.field1 <=10);
    Query2:
    SELECT Query1.field1, Query1.field2, Query1.FieldTmp
    FROM Query1 LEFT JOIN Table3
    ON (Table3.field1 = Query1.Field2) AND
    (Table3.field5 = Query1.FieldTmp)
    WHERE ((Table3.field5) Is Null)
    ORDER BY Query1.field1, Query1.FieldTmp;
The Query1 runs as expected, but when I try to run the Query2 I got a ORA-00904 error message. If I remove the (Table3.field5 = Query1.FieldTmp) statement or modify to compare with another field (as instance, field2) everything goes fine.
If I modify the first query to a make-table query, the Query2 request runs as desired too.
Is there anything that we can do to keep the queries statement as it is when using the MS Access DB?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elaine Viel Denadai

Hi Turloch! Thanks for your help!
Those SQL Statements were extracted from the MS Access application that we will continue to use to access the data , now on an Oracle Database.
I don't know what I can do to make this kind of statements works as it is on Access database. The first query, that I called Query1 works fine on Oracle, I just mentioned it because the 2nd Query , named Query2, use it.
I'm not able to understand why when I change the 1st. query to a "make-table" query the Query2 works as desired, but if I keep the Query1 and Query2 as it is on the MS Access Application I got the ODBC error message and the ORA-00904 error message , related (I think!) to the FieldTmp field used on the LEFT JOIN statement (AND).
As I told before, if I change the AND clause to compare to another field, as instance, field1 :
    FROM Query1 LEFT JOIN Table3
    ON (Table3.field1=Query1.Field2) AND
    (Table3.field5 = Query1.Field1)
    it works.
Please, is there anything that I can do to keep the MS Access Application unchanged?
    Oracle = 8.1.6
    Oracle ODBC Driver = 8.1.6.4
    Oracle Migration Workbench = 1.3.1
    Thanks in advance,

  • Bulk Project Site option isn't working in project server 2010 migrated from PS 2007.

    Hi,
I am doing a test migration from epm 2007 to epm 2013.
So first, i need to migrate the project server 2007 to project server 2010. i have 2 separate environments for EPM 2007 and EPM 2010).
there is no problem in migration process and i successfully migrate entire PWA 2007 to 2010, except Workspaces (Project sites).
Bulk project site option is not helping. I have tried 4-5 times with different PWA 2007 databases (PWA1, PWA2...) but this option did not work. and errors in queue are WSSWebDoesNotExist(16405) and GeneralQueueJobFailed(26000).
Then next time while migrating all over again i kept the same port and same PWA name then bulk project site option worked.
Question is, Do i need to keep the same PWA name and same port for the new upgraded PWA??,  one more issue regarding this is that if don't keep the same PWA name and i open the project site and click on the "Project web app" back link, it
redirects me to old PWA site which doesn't exist and give me page not found error (Obviously).
Below, you can see the both scenarios.
my previous PWA 2007 site, say  - http://epm2007:2222/PWA
When  -  migrated PWA 2010 site, say  - http://epm2010:3000/NewPWA    (Bulk project site update just doesn't work)
When -  migrated PWA 2010 site, say  - http://epm2010:2222/PWA    (Bulk project site update worked)
Whats the solution of this problem. is there any utility or query to link all project sites correctly?
Will i face the same problem while migrating PS 2010 to PS 2013??
    Thank you.
    sandeep

    Hi,
I would say it is easier to keep the same PWA name between 2007 and 2010 (no need to have the same port).
If you want to move to a new PWA URL maybe you can use stsadm backup/restore as detailed in this article?

    Hope this helps

Well, you can migrate, you can not upgrade (semantics I suppose). E.g.; the RDC was deprecated in CR XI r1 and retired in CR 2008. Thus there is no way for you to upgrade to version 12 of the RDC as there is no such thing. So, from here, you have two options: migrate / port the app to .NET, or Java SDKs.
Re. RDC, see my blog here:

For porting the app to .NET, see this article:

  • Migrating from iPhoto 08 (v7.1.5) to iPhoto 11 (v9.3)

    Greetings iPhoto gurus,
I currently run iPhoto 08 (v7.1.5) and I have an extensive library of pictures, albums and slideshows. I'm considering upgrading to iPhoto 11, but will only do so if it will retain and migrate all my current stuff. In the process of upgrading, will the resulting iPhoto 11 library contain all the slideshows, albums and metadata (particularly the Description field which I have made extensive use of and do not fancy retyping for several hundred piccies) be migrated?
I also have the latest version of Aperture (v3.3) which I have only just started to use. What prompted this query is that I now see that Aperture v3.3. and iPhoto 11 v9.3 can share the same libraries without exporting/importing, which is obviously appealling to me.
My ultimate nirvana is being able to merge the migrated iPhoto 11 library with my current Aperture library so that I can have one database with all my legacy pictures, slideshows and metadata alongside the new stuff that I have been populating since procuring Aperture.
    Can anyone advise on:
    1) Will migrating from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 11, as described above, work?
    2) Will I be able to merge the resulting iPhoto 11 library with the Aperture 3.3 library?
    Many thanks in anticipation.
    Simon.

Thanks - time machine already up and running. I will also duplicate library and copy that to external drive.
I tested the process of migration on my Macbook (where I have just a few test pictures - my main library is on my iMac). It all seemed to migrate fine. I then merged library with Aperture and everything seemed to transfer across - including Descriptions nicely migrating to Caption metadata. Quite impressed.
I am able to switch between iPhoto and Aperture library with ease in both applications. Nice!
Will try it for real later in the week and report back success or issues for the benefit of any other user who is contemplating the same thing.
    Cheers all,
    Simon.
