Query on 0TCT_MC23 cube

Hi All,
I made my custom query on 0TCT_MC23 provider. It takes so much time to run. When i see in SM50 then it doesnt show any process running from my id.
I deleted and created the index too for the cube but still its very very slow.
Could you guys tell how can i improve the performance of teh query.

Hi, also when loading data on regular basis, reading the Virtual cube is very slow.
Unless you need explicit actual data schedule the delta to run e.g. 3 times per workday and exclude the VC cube from the reports. This works perfect.
You could also set 2 reporting scenarios. 1 for daily operations, VC exluded and thus fast reponse. Other set detailed analysis with VC for digging into troubles with current data.

What's the best way to add a descendents query to a cube? I don't think I should include the Calendar Dimension as the cube has multiple Calendar Hierarchies that I want the calculation to use if selected. Essentially the calculation should do the calculation
at the lowest level even when it's rolled up to a higher level.
Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "Add query to a cube"? If you want to add the calculation to the cube, then we can add it in the Calculations tab in the cube designer in BIDS. A calculation is nothing but an MDX expression or script which is used to define
a calculated member, a named set, or a scoped assignment in a cube. For the detail information about how to do it, please refer to the links below.

Problem with a query on Remote Cube

Hi,
We are working on Remote cube, which has a source from a view built on R/3 base table. I need to extract the data to BW based on a current date due to huge volume of data(performance reasons) in the table. I have used an exit on R/3 to restrict to current date but the extract checker was showing the valid data ie only for current date when i had built a query on Remote cube, the Report was showing complete data(restriction not working). We have even tried using an inversion routine in transfer rules to pass the selections to the Source system even then it doesn't work. Could you help if you have come across same kind of situation or you can suggest an alternate solution on the same but we have to use Remote cube.
Any suggestions asap would be highly appreciated and rewarded with full points.

Performance of my query based on cube ? and ods?

hi all,
how to identify the performance of my query based on a cube nor ods. I have requirement which enables to do flat file extraction and the extraction is only once and the records are less too. I need to sort whether my query will be faster based upon cube nor on ods.
Can anyone let me know how to measure the performance of my query based upon cube and ods and how to find out which one will be faster. bcos i need to explain them the entire process of going to load the data directly to ods and do reporting from there nor data loaded directly to cube and do reporting from cube.

Hi,
ODS is 2 Dimensional so avoid reporting on ODS,
Cube is MultiDim, for analysis perpose we can go reporting on Cube only
Records in ODS are Overwritten whereas in Cube records are Aggregated
and can also do compression on Cube, which will increase the query performance and so data retrieval in cube is faster

When running a query on Inventory Cube, I get some of the values like this "[2,000]" and the value is not taken into account in the total row.
Any Idea about the "[Value]"?

Hi,
I am trying to get query list based on last used date.
I ran query on stat cube 0BWTC_...
Also, i got list of queries from the view v_compdir_compic in bw backend.
But the query list i get from stat cube query is less than what i get from View table.
there are aprox 300 less queries.
can u please tell me why the list is different ?

We have all BW statistic cubes loaded on november 1st.
which are 0bwtc_c01,.......they are for aggregate, for OLAP, for OLAP navigation etc.
so how come the list of queries are different than V_COMPDIR_COMPIC ?
any clue ?

In the query of the cube for characteristics whereever it is blank from the cube it is getting displayed by a '#".I want it to display a blank. how to overcome this problem.

Error Message on query of the cube 0PUR_C01

Hi Gurus,
I am executing the standard query 0PUR_C01_Q0004 on cube 0PUR_C01 (Purchasing).
For some results lines I see the following message "No calc possible" on key figures values. Has anybody seen this error before??

Query on virtual cube showing incorrect values

Experts,
I have create a virtual cube on a base cube using services (info-source). both virtual as well base cube are z-development and are in BI.
Base cube has 6 records, now when I check data in virtual cube using display data it shows correct values based on routine written in virtual cube transformation.
Problem is when I created query on this virtual cube it doesnt show correct data or sometime no applicable data. After debugging I found, in end routine itself result package contains records with blank values in it on which I have written routine. But it does this only while executing query not when I display data in cube.

I am using BI 7.0, Service Pack 11:
I just partitioned a cube. I hav eorginal cube XFI_C001 and create a new cube C2_XFIC01 by copying from XFI_C001. Now I developed a query on C2_XFIC01. Similar query on XFI_C001 does not give any error. How can I debug this problem? Error reported when running query is shown below. I ran ST22, no dump. I did SM50, looked at developer trace, no clue.

Hi,
The error log shows you are executing your query on portal which uses Java stack. There may some issue with the portal configuration. Check with your basis/portal team.
The query will execute in BEx and RSRT as RSRT executes query on ABAP stack.

Query accessing SSAS cube is taking more time in power view report

My SSAS server is having 16 Core's . I have created a power view in sharepoint site, which is accessing ssas cube.

Also i tracked the %process time in performance monitor, mostly the line is below 20%. I think the CPU is not fully utilized..

According to your description, you create a PowerView report in SharePoint site connect to SSAS cube, the problem is that it take long time to show the result in the report, now you want to improve report performance, right?
In your scenario, you said that it takes more time to return the result in PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. For a report, its run time contain retrieval data time and render report time. So it takes more time to return the result in
PowerView report than run the query directly in SSMS. And there are 300M records in the fact table, the performance can be caused by large data. Here is a blog which describes tracks down Power View performance problems.

Query with a cube and infoobj attributes

Hi Gurus,
I have a cube CUBE1 and it contains Infoobject IO_ADDR. Attributes of IO_ADDR are address details. Can I display cube details as well as address details in a Bex report without creating infoset or multicube etc? Pls guide me if it is possible..
What would be the best method to do this?

It is possible !!!!!!!!
Just check whether the Add Attribute is Nav or Display Attribute.In any case u can get that into report.But if it is Nav Attibute then can drill down based on that Address Object.Else u can change it to
Nav att and then include it in the report.
Say if it is Material and MAt Group is Attribute then
In the Left hand side of the Query when u drill down on MAterial,Material Attributes,U can find Mat Group.Just Drag as drop the Mat and Mat Group.For Display Attribute it goes Hand in HAnd.
For Nav Attribute,it will display as Material_Matgroup in the Drill Down.just drag and Drop.

BI beans does not use QUERY RERWITE for cube

Hello!
First of all I would like to say big thanks to Keith for help on dimension rollup. It works now.
I am creating a pilot environment with
Oracle 10.2.0.3
OWB 10.2.0.3
SS Add-in 10.1.2.2
and one cube ST_R and three dims
DIM_R_NOMA for products
DIM_R_CIDI for stores
DIM_R_TIME for time
Now I have deployed dimensions and cube to CWM2. Dimensions are working quite well. I would say even better than in MOLAP. About 1 second for rollup on 2000 members in level.
Now I am facing second problem. I can not force BI beans (which is used in SS Add-in and Disco and OWB browser) to use summaries prepared by DBMS_ODM package.
1/ I have prepared MV LOGS for dimension and fact tables
2/ I have prepared MV for dimensions using DBMS_ODM
3/ I've prepared materialized view for cube aggs. with
DBMS_ODM.CREATESTDFACTMV('WWHH','ST_R','ST_R.sql','C:\TEMP',true,'FULL');
CWM2_OLAP_CUBE.set_mv_summary_code('WWHH','ST_R','GROUPINGSET');
as described in OLAP REFERENCE on DBMS_ODM page.
I explained all my MVs - they seem to be OK. They support
REWRITE_GENERAL,
REWRITE_FULL_TEXT,
REWRITE_PART_TEXT
There are no support for PCT rewrite etc.
My user 'WWHH' has a privileges:
ANALYSE_ANY
QWERY_REWRITE
GLOBAL_QWERY_REWRITE
My database has setting
QUERY_REWRITE_ENABLED=true
Stale_tolerated=enforced
all MVs and tables are analyzed.
I do not use parallel settings on tables,MVs.
to do some further analisys I've enabled olapcontinuous_trace_file. It generates some useful SQL statements from BI BEANS in UDUMP. These statements DO NOT resolve in MAT VIEW in explain plan
Questions:
Are there any settings for BI BEANS to turn on/off?
Are there any other packages to create MVs?
How to explain WHY MVs are not used?

Error while enabling query rewrite on cube

There are no issues with loading/viewing data from cube.

In the context of an OLAP cube the offending expression will be part of the cube's mapping. As already pointed out, there are a number of functions that aren't compatible. Here is the oracle documentation for the error.
ORA-30353 expression not supported for query rewrite
Cause: The SELECT clause referenced UID, USER, ROWNUM, SYSDATE, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, MAXVALUE, a sequence number, a bind variable, correlation variable, a set result, a trigger return variable, a parallel table queue column, collection iterator, a non-deterministic date format token RR, etc.
Action: Remove the offending expression or disable the REWRITE option on the materialized view.
The most common cause in my experience is handling dates with either TO_DATE or TO_CHAR functions. If these functions do not have an explicit date format, then you will hit this error.
