Query on Nokia N9 usage in India

I currently live in India and will be traveling to USA in a few days, as we all know the Nokia N9 phone is not available in India and who knows Nokia will ever release it here.
Therefore, I plan to purchase a Nokia N9 from an online shopping website when I am in USA but I have a few question's in mind before going ahead and buy one :
1. The main concern is will it work with the telecom carriers in India?
2. Do I need it to get it unlocked if I buy it from USA?
3. Will I be able to update the phone's software from India?
4. What are the chances it will give problems as there would be no warranty/support on it when I bring it here in India.
5. Should I go ahead and buy Lumia 800 as it is readily available in India and its support too.
I would highly appreciate and will be thankful if somebody answers my query as it will a big monetary investment for me.

1. The main concern is will it work with the telecom carriers in India?
It will work in India. The N9 is not released in the US either, so its certainly not tuned to work with specific carriers there.
2. Do I need it to get it unlocked if I buy it from USA?
The N9 is not released in the US, hence you will not be able to buy a locked phone from there. So no question of unlocking it.
3. Will I be able to update the phone's software from India?
I bought the phone in UK, where the N9 is not released. I was able to update the software without problems.
4. What are the chances it will give problems as there would be no warranty/support on it when I bring it here in India.
No idea. Depends on your luck, as with any other phone.
5. Should I go ahead and buy Lumia 800 as it is readily available in India and its support too.
I believe the N9 is a better phone than the Lumia 800. But if you have concerns on the support and warranty, better to be safe than sorry.
A better bet would be to buy from Singapore, if you have someone who could send you the phone from there, or buy it in India from some dealer, who also promises some support.

  • Poor Service Record of Nokia Care Centers in India

    Hi
I have a Nokia N95 1st Generation SmartPhone. I am trying to get a body replacement for the phone along with keypad and all other panels.
I tried to get the same from Nokia care center @ Noida (Sector-2, Micronas Telecom), India. Even After they kept my handset for over a month , I had to fight to take my set back from then without the body replacement as they did not have the availability of the external body for whole month .(That's the reason I got).
Fake and duplicate (Near -Original copies) of this external body are available in market but i don't want to risk my phone usage experience and ease by buying those. Then, I do not know what to do now and whom to approach as nokia care centers dont even bother answering there customer care phones in Noida.
My experience with Nokia I would say is  - Phones - Good .... Service and Support - Very Very Poor.
This forum would probably be my last try to attract attention from any Nokia people or anyone who can help me out on this. Any suggestions from users are welcome. Please help asap.
    Thanks

I agree dude, Nokia service too bad...
Do you know once a reporter asked Toyota person "I can see Maruti service stations everywhere, but no Toyota's, is this is what is your after sale service?"
Toyota person replies saying "they need service for their cars after sales, but we do not need to, you do not see any broke down Toyota"
Just see number of Nokia care centers getting opened all over India. (But really the way Nokia Care Centre people behaves is pathetic they do not even know how phone behaves and what actually the phone got).
One of NCC's girl say's do factory reset your phone will be fine, he asks what does my contents she says it is intact, only if you give to us then your contacts will be vanished lol

Unfortunately, explain plans, even with dbms_xplan.display, may not show the actual execution plan - this is more of a problem when the SQL statement includes bind variables (capturing a 10046 trace at level 8 or 12 will help). With the information provided, it looks like the problem is with the number of logical reads performed: 17,503,305 in 84 executions = 208,373 logical reads per execution. Something is causing the SQL statement to execute inefficiently, possibly a join problem between tables, possibly the forced use of an index.
From one of my previous posts related to this same SQL statement:
    SELECT /*+ INDEX (OM_COURSE_FEE OCF_CFC_CODE)  */ DISTINCT
      CF_COURSE_CODE
    FROM
      OM_COURSE_FEE,

There is the possibility of additional predicates being generated by Oracle which will make this possible without introducing a Cartesian join, but those predicates are not displayed with an explain plan (they will appear with a DBMS_XPLAN). I may not be remembering correctly, but if the optimizer goal is set to first rows, a Cartesian join might appear in a plan as a nested loops join - Jonathan will know for certain if that is the case.
Have you investigated the above as a possible cause? If you know that there is a problem with this one SQL statement, a 10046 trace at level 8 or 12 is much more helpful than a Statspack report.

  • Nokia maps 1.0 - india maps, Maharashtra and Goa

    Hi all,
I want to download india maps and specifically maps of Maharashtra and Goa. I bought a Nokia C2-03 (dual-sim) recently and have been trying to download maps via Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.90 but it has been a failure.
The device itself does not have much memory but do have a memory card. Does anybody know how :-
    a. I can download and install the Maharashtra and Goa map in the memory card ?
    b. A link from where I can download the map. I did see this link given /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Maps-Data-File-size-discrepancy/m-p/1166517/message-uid/1166517/highligh... but unfortunately it seems for a different version of Nokia maps .
    c. Am I correct in assuming its Nokia maps 1.0 . This I came to know via Menu > Maps > Options > About where it says Maps 1.0 www.nokia.com/maps/support
    maps.nokia.com
copyright 2010 navteq  All rights reserved www.navteq.com
All and any help and clarity on the above would be helpful.

    @shirishag75
    Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately S40 devices use Nokia Maps 1.0 for which available mapping is a lot less detailed; presumably  you have inserted memory card and opened Nokia Maps application at least once upon your C2-03 to initialise application? At this point Ovi Suite > Maps should recognise memory card and offer you maps to download but not always so.
That said Series 40 Ovi Maps 2.1 is variable in implementation and if device supplied with local maps installed upon memory card there doesn't seem an issue adding more maps but real issues if no maps with it sometimes.
You could look at this Nokia resource:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/how-to/how-to-use-maps-for-s40

  • Query about Nokia Messenging Always On

I have Nokia Messenging installed on my X6 with the access point on Internet.  My first priority in my wireless LAN which is fine but out of it's range it'll switch to my pay as you go internet access which is priority two.  This is normal.  My query is, does it cost me money having the access point open or is it just when I'm receiving/sending data?   I'm on a Vodafone PAYG tarriff.

The flash being stuck on is generally a sign that the phone has been damaged either by a drop, water or other form of moisture.
You should take it to a Nokia care centre for inspection as there are no settings that can turn it off.

  • ABAP Query - Selection Screen Values Usage

    Hi,
I have created an ABAP Query. For one of the selection-screen fields (CAUFV-FTRMI)
which is select-options, I want to use the values during coding (in the where clause of a select query)
in Extras section under the event "record processing". Please suggest how to make the the selection-screen values
available during record processing event. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tejas Savla

    Hi Kartik,
I need to fetch data from some table KEKO depending on the values entered on the selection-screen for the field CAUFV-FTRMI. So, I need to find a way by which the selection-screen input values are available in the record processing event. The values are available in some variable SP$00002 of the automatically generated report program. But, this variable cannot be used in the Coding section of the ABAP QUERY. Please advise.

  • Query on iphone 5 service in India

    Hi All,
I am planning to buy unlocked version of iphone 5 from US through authorized store and will be using the same in India. However, since Apple talks about providing the 1 year warranty, would like to know if anything happens to my iphone, will apple be able to service it in India through authorized apple store?

    Warranty is NOT International.
Warranty is limited to the country of origin.
If you purchase an iPhone in the US, it will only be serviced and the warranty will only be valid in the US.
Save yourself the hassle buy the device in the country that you intend to use it.

  • Query on SAP Roles usage

    Dear experts,
    I have a BASIS query.
I have created a role "ABC_XYZ" which has authorization for company code - "1000" and has been assigned user "SMK001".
My query is,Can I use the same role "ABC_XYZ" assigned user "SMK002" but having authorization for different company code - "2000" only.
Can we restrict the legal entities and other business objects at user level instead of role level?
    Any input appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can't use the same role for accessing other company code.
SInce this role is authorised for company code 1000, you can assign to any number of users, but all of them have access to 1000 only, not for 2000 compnay code. so the role concept is nothing but restricting the access to the orgn entities like CC, Plant, Pur orgn, sales Orgn etc.
all are restricted only with authorizations and roles only.
    reward if useful

  • Query on Nokia 820 Camera/Flash

    Hi
I have a Nokia 820 - it is a great phone and I love it.  I have had it for the last 6 months but I noticed a couple of things lately.
When I use the camera and take a picture, sometimes the screen blacks out and you cannot take another picture without turning the phone off totally and then restart it.
Separately, I have installed a Flashlight app, and when I turn it on, it wont turn off.  So, the camera flash is freezing.
Has anyone experienced this issue or can give me any ideas on how to resolve it - I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

  • Query about TRAILING NULLCOLS usage

    Hi,
I'm using SQL Loader for loading flat files to Tables.
    Here is my datafile
    empid|name|dept|salary|grade|
    1|shekhar|projects|1000|C|
    2|ravi|projects|800|D|
    3|rob|projects|1200||
    4|Mathew|projects|1400||
    my ctl file
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE emp.txt "str '|\r\n'"
    APPEND INTO TABLE EMP
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
    EMP_ID
    , NAME
    , DEPT
    , SALARY
    , GRADE
    Its giving error message
Column not found before end of logical record (use TRAILING NULLCOLS)
I think TRAILING NULLCOLS is used to put null for the columns which are not found. But in my case the grade column value is empty for the empid 3 & 4
If I'm wrong please explain me the usage of TRAILING NULLCOLS.
    Thanks

the record delimiter specified in the INFILE clause is not considered part of the record. for record 3 and 4, SQL Loader is parsing:
    3|rob|projects|1200|
    4|Mathew|projects|1400|
There are only 4 field values for these records because the last '|' is stripped off. Try changing the INFILE line to
    INFILE emp.txt "str '\r\n'"
This should preserve the ending '|'
Of course. the other option is to us TRAILING NULLCOLS in the control file.
