Query on vCloud Usage Meter Reporting

Hello ,
Can vCloud Usage Meter provide report of  vCpu  , vRam  &  Storage Consumption  on monthly basics for each individual  vCloud Workload (Virtual Machine )  ?
I am looking for   Monthly report of  vCpu/ RAM & Storage  utilization by each  Individual vCloud  Director   Virtual Machine
Can vCloud usage meter fulfill  this requirement
Thanks in Advance

vRealize Operations manager can do this if you want to monitor behaviour/normality, and report based off of this data.  this would connect to vCenter directly to get the data (VMs and templates view in vCenter mimics that of the Organization (vDC) / vApp Structure).
Chargeback can sample and monitor for the purposes of a creating a bill/invoice for a given VM.  This would connect to both vCloud and vCenter to build the reports.
vCloud Director which is available to VSPP/vCloud Air Network members has some basic monitoring included in the product, but requires API calls to gather the data and an additional Cassandra/Kairos DB to store the information.

  • VCloud Usage Meter - Collection failed

    Hi,
    Something odd going on with our UM 3.1. Collection was working until a few days ago, where after the 7am one it failed and has failed ever since, complaining it can't login due to bad username/password. The user is a domain account, the password is correct (even reset it to the same one), however if the Web interface, if I try to edit it, under Products (vCenter Server), I get the same error. I deleted it from there but now can't add it since I get the same error:
    "could not connect to the vCenter Server: IPADDRESS; com.vmware.vim25.InvalidLoginFaultMsg: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password."
    Tried creating a new service account in the same OU in AD and add it to the web interface but get the same error. Both accounts are present in the UM's Permissions in vCenter, with Read-Only access.
    vCenter's Events show "cannot login domain\account@IP" (different IP, this one is for the VM, not the vCenter as the one above).
    LDAP settings in the Web interface are blank, as was the case.
    No changes were made to the server or VM in between 7am and 8am when this first started.
    Hoping someone's seen this before and can help, I've ran out of ideas.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    This issue also got resolved some times back but didn't got chance to share the steps which helped me.
    The issue was with my dns entry in /etc/resolv.conf file of the usage meter server. The DNS servers were correctly specified in this file but the search path was missing.
    We were adding all our vCenter Servers to usage meter using the FQDN and due to the missing search path usage meter was unable to poll to these vCenter Server.
    I added "search xyz.com" to the /etc/resolv.conf file and restarted the network service once and bingo the usage meter start collecting the stats from vCenter server.

  • How can I find a set of sample reports which we can create using vCloud Usage Meter?

    Additionally,
    Is there a way that we can assign $ values to vCPU and vMem per GHz and GB?
    Can we report usage per min?
    Many Thanks in advance.

    How can I get the later version on my local?
    You can get the "SQL Server Native Client" always from the related Feature Pack, e.g.
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 Feature Pack => sqlncli.msi

  • Query on Customer usage on a VMs

    Hi Team,
    I need assistance on the following queries
    We are trying to check the feasibility of using VCloud usage meter but we are not able to understand how we can achieve following things
    1) Customer X has been provided access to VM Cloud machine. some ip address machine.
    2) I need to know how to configure this Customer X usage in vCloud usage meter on VM A. ITs not allowing me check the particular users usage on each VM? I mean I want to understand how this Customer X used the VM and charge him accordingly for his usage.
    Like wise I have many users using the VMs.
    Thanks and request you to please email me if you have any queries

  • Sales usage outlier report .

    Hi ,
    I would like to create a report which is based on sales data . Here is the requirement ..
    Sales Usage Outlier Report - Unusual high or low sales for stock materials in a plant (BI) <br> The report should allow the user to select criteria such as: -ABC code -Standard deviation from forecast -Material.
    This report will be used to adjust historical usage for sales outliers that occur during the normal business process. These outliers can cause larger than normal swings in inventory purchases, if not captured during the forecasting process.
    Could you please let me know , do we have any std functionality to show outlier in BW ?
    Regards

    Hi,
    For the following requirment, here is the option,
    Sales Usage Outlier Report - Unusual high or low sales for stock materials in a plant (BI)
    - USE EXCEPTIONS TO HIGHLIGHT THE CHANGES THROUGH COLOR HUES.
    The report should allow the user to select criteria such as: -ABC code -Standard deviation from forecast -Material.
    - CREATE A USERENTRY VARIABLE ON THE "ABC CODE" FIELD AND ATTACH IN THE QUERY DEFINITION
    This report will be used to adjust historical usage for sales outliers that occur during the normal business process. These outliers can cause larger than normal swings in inventory purchases, if not captured during the forecasting process.
    THE REQUIREMENT IS NOT CLEAR.  BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE ANALYSE THE DATA AND CHECK THE USAGE OF SALES OUTLIERS AND DECIDE ON THE FORECAST VALUES.  YOU CAN CREATE CALCULATED KFs to analyse the historical data.
    Thanks.

  • XML query, DTD error on SSRS report

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a SSRS 2012 report with XML Data source, I sucessfull pass the connection string, but I am unsucessfull can't get the query. getting DTD is prohibited in this XML document.
    Please Help,
    thanks.
    angelatino2013

    Hi angelatino2013,
    Based on my research, this error can be caused by one of the following factors:
    Copied the wrong URL into the connection string, so it trying to access site with the improper data on it.
    We are using some incorrect parameter values in the connection string of data source.
    Insufficient session timeout or query timeout for the datasets.
    Out of memory exception of the Reporting Services.
    To resolve the issue, please try the following suggestions:
    Please make sure that we have typed the right URL with correct parameter values into the connection string.
    Increase the query timeout for each dataset in the report to 3600 seconds.
    Increase the maximum Reporting Services memory usage by modifying the WorkingSetMaximum configuration of the RSreportserver.config file.
    Optimize the dataset query as well as the report structure to avoid the possible OutOfMemoryexception.

  • Proof usage meter is faulty

    For many years I have had no problem with the reported amount of download/upload data reported by the usage meter.  It has seemed quite accurate and in line with my own system logs.
    I have a cable modem directly connected to a Linux system.  There is no router in between.  The cable modem is running in bridged mode, which disables the wireless capabilities of the modem.
    On 28-Jul-12, I disabled the network interface on that computer, as I'm making system changes and didn't really require network access on that particular computer during that time.  By disabled, I mean I shut down the network interface on the Linux system.  The DHCP client is not running and I have no IP address lease. Usage meter screenshot:
    http://s8.postimage.org/6e6elfzat/bpusage1.jpg
    As expected, usage on the next day shows 0MB down, 0MB up.  However the  day after  (30-Jul-12) shows 168GB downloaded.  For 3 straight days, it has reported exactly 2516MB uploaded.  On 02-Aug-12, it reported exactly twice the previous days usage, 5031MB.  On each of those days 0MB was reported as download.  A typical TCP/IP connection would have at least some data sent in both directions.  This is hardly what I would describe as a normal usage pattern,
    I called Bigpond on 03-Aug-12, but failed to convince anyone that there is a problem in their metering system.  They are trying to suggest someone may be using my wireless connection (I don't have wireless), or that a computer is running Napster/Kazza (I don't have a Windows computer), or a virus has infected my system. Early on 05-Aug-12, I physically switched off the cable modem.   Since that time, the usage meter has recorded another 168GB downloaded.   It is impossible to download anywhere near that amount considering that
     - a) I have been capped for the last 5 days - b) I have no IP address for the last 8 days - c) The cable modem is switched off This is proof that Bigpond's usage meter is faulty, but Bigpond continually refuses to address my concerns at all.  I get the standard scripted response and they refuse to have a systems/network person look at how this usage report is generated.  I don't want a new modem, or someone to check my line dammit, this is a problem with Bigpond's metering system, not a problem at my end. Bigpond refuses to tell me what IP addresses I have had this usage countered towards.  If they did check, they would find I have had no IP address.  Without an IP address, I couldn't have generated any traffic, or even had unsolicited traffic sent  to me (DDoS etc). Notice in the image that exactly the same amount of data has been recorded as being downloaded on 30-Jul-12 and 05-Aug-12.  What a coincidence.  Also, 03-Aug-12 usage meter previously showed data as loaded (2516MB) but mysteriously disappeared after a call to Bigpond.

    It should be noted that 6.5 of the General Terms for Consumer Customers - Part of Telstra's "Our Customer Terms" says: We are required by various industry codes to ensure that our bills are accurate and verifiable and we are committed to complying with these requirements. Our records are sufficient proof that a charge is payable unless they are shown to be incorrect.
    It should also be noted that Part 4.6 of Part A – General Terms for BigPond services, part of the Bigpond Service Section of Our Customer Terms says:  We may not be able to provide detailed information about your usage (or any of your group members' usage) of the service (for example, information about what sites were visited and when).
    Unless you can conclusivley prove that there is no fault, Telstra is not obliged to investigate a fault. B.

  • Content Tracker Reports Query file modification issue - Custom Report

    Hi All,
    I was trying to generate a custom report using Content Tracker. I was successful in doing so. However, I found that sometimes it does not pick up the updated query file of Content Tracker reports.
    I made a change in my query:
    from SELECT * FROM Users to
    SELECT dname FROM Users
    the change is written on the file but when i generated the report from C.T. UI, it's still showing me the old results having all the columns. Tried bouncing the server as well, but no use.
    I also added a new query 24 hrs back (as SELECT count(*) As UsersNum FROM Users), it's still not recognizing it and giving error as Failure of server APACHE bridge: No backend server available for
    connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF;
    and the log says,
    Unable to execute service SCT_GET_DOCUMENT_INFO_ADMIN and function sctExecuteQuery.
    Unable to create the result set for query '(null)'. SQL statement to execute cannot be empty or null
    What could be the resolution of this issue?
    I am using UCM 11g + SSXA.

    Server bounce.
    Issue is not file update but some other issue, ongoing in another thread by Me.

  • "hybrid" color found in iTunes's "Devices - iPod" usage meter

    Hi there,
    I don't believe this is a quirk with iTunes, but it still eludes me nonetheless. I noticed it this morning for the first time when disconnecting my iPod.
    Granted, we have that handy color-coded usage meter showing how much storage space we have left on the iPod (click on the iPod icon under the Devices tab in the sidebar if you are unsure what I'm referencing), along with the type of media occupying the used space and each having its own unique color: blue for music, yellow for photos, purple for video, orange for the mysterious "other", etc.
    This morning, I noticed for the first time that I have a strange indigo-colored section, spliced somewhere between where the music (blue) and video (purple) are indicated.
    The only thing I could possibly equate this to was space allocated for "Music Videos" (the obvious hybrid between Music and Video).
    I couldn't come up with any effective search results on the board - I was curious if some Level 3+'s noticed this, and could shed some light on what indigo could indicate.
    (FYI - I would love to have provided a screenshot, but I am at work at the moment)
    Just curious - thanks!

    thats what we're talking about.
    Exactly.
    Never did get a solid answer on this one, but judging from the fact that others out there see this indigo in the iPod spectrum, I'm going to say that it is from Music Videos.
    I'm going to leave this one as unanswered until I'm daring enough (or bored enough, depending upon your point of view...) to delete the Music Videos from my iPod and see if the color changes.

    Just out of curiosity:
    You are posting queries in a very diversified manner i.e. ABAP, SRM, Program related details. I just wonder what you are up to. Quite a lot of them are very basic ones. Are you learning ABAP or SRM ?. What ever it may be, just a small suggestion, SDN has a huge store of information. You can get all you need here. You just need to do a search in the forums/articles/wiki first, before posting a thread; because most of them could have been asked by some one earlier, many fellow members would provided very good suggestions. This will save a lot of your time. This is just a friendly suggestion, nothing meant to hurt you.

  • Dynamic query to produce crosstab/pivot report

    Hello,
    I've not been able to find any examples similar to my situation but perhaps I'm using the wrong search phrases...
    I'm basically trying to create a cross-tab type report based on a dynamic query (since I do not know how many accounts a person has):
    select '  SELECT x.name, x.type, ' from dual
    union
    select ' max(decode(x.account,'''||m.account||''',x.amount,null)) as "'||substr(s.proj||' '||m.account,1,30)||'",'
      from db1.manager m, db1.person p, pi.charges c, db1.status s
    where m.manager_id = p.id
       and M.ACCOUNT_ID = C.ACCT_ID
       and M.ACCOUNT_STRING = S.project
       and C.JNL = (select max(id) from db1.journ j where j.TYPE ='M')
       and p.username = :username
       and nvl(M.END_DATE, sysdate +1) >= sysdate
    group by m.account, s.proj
    union
    select 'sum(x.amount) grand_total from (select m.account, c.name, c.type, c.amount '
              ||'from db1.manager m, db1.person p, pi.charges c '
              ||'where m.manager_id = p.id '
              ||'and p.username = :P68_PRINC '
              ||'and c.acct_id = m.account_id '
              ||'and c.jnl = (select max(id) '
              ||'from db1.journ j where j.TYPE =''M'')) x '
              ||' group by type, name' from dualThe output from this query for the particular manager I selected is:
    SELECT x.name, x.type,
    max(decode(x.account,'12012',x.amount,null)) as "Internal 12012",
    max(decode(x.account,'17929',x.amount,null)) as "Staged 17929",
    max(decode(x.account,'18054',x.amount,null)) as "Help Software 18054",
    max(decode(x.account,'3428',x.amount,null)) as "Mow 3428",
    max(decode(x.account,'3428',x.amount,null)) as "Mow 3428_1",
    max(decode(x.account,'3508',x.amount,null)) as "Stampede 3508",
    max(decode(x.account,'9102',x.amount,null)) as "Open Collaborative 9102",
    sum(x.amount) grand_total
    from (select m.account, c.name, c.type, c.amount
    from db1.manager m, db1.person p, pi.charges c
    where m.manager_id = p.id
        and p.username = :P68_PRINC
        and c.acct_id = m.account_id
        and c.jnl = (select max(id)
       from db1.journ j where j.TYPE ='M')) x
      group by type, nameThis query generates another query that ultimately produces the report below (please pardon the alignment) that I want to see on a report page.

If so, how does that get set up?
    Thanks in advance!
    ~Jake

    This solution works in that it generates the proper query. I can copy the query (from debug mode) and paste it in TOAD and it works perfectly. However, in the report page it tells me: "report error:ORA-01403: no data found".
    I found this thread: report error: ORA-01403: no data found when SUM columns
    I did have a couple other regions on the page (previous attempts) that were hidden so I deleted them completely. Still no luck.
    I am also summing up several columns...if that has anything to do with it.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks again!!!

  • What is "Default" in Usage Statistics report detail?

    I am running RoboHelp Server 8 and am outputing the "Usage Statistics" report which has an option to report on Browsers and Operating Systems. In the results for both is a category called "Default" (see images below). Does anyone know what this means? If you can answer that, maybe you can also tell me what the "Unknown" operating system is? I suspect this maybe an Apple Mac user as I know one of our users has tried accessing the help through the application installed on a Mac.

    Further to my previous post, I can confirm that the "Unknown" operating system is definitely NOT an Apple Macintosh user. Having run the report on another area, a seperate "Macintosh" category is displayed thus leaving me in the dark again. If anyone can shed some light on this and the "Default" category I'd be very grateful.
