Query only specific fields of a table

Hi!
I use "RFC_READ_TABLE" to query SAP tables (via JCO). Now I have to get only 2 fields of a table. Therefor I use the following code:
JCO.Table jcoTab = jcoParamTab.getTable("FIELDS");
jcoTab.appendRow();
jcoTab.setValue("ARC_DOC_ID", "FIELDNAME");
jcoTab.appendRow();
jcoTab.setValue("OBJECT_ID", "FIELDNAME");
If I execute a function with this parameters I get a table (#0) with only 1 field! I find it circuitous to parse through the String, using the table #1.
Is there a better / more elegant way?
I would be very grateful if anybody can help me.

OK, I tried the "non-elegant" way. But the next funny thing is:
I get a table with the design of my result table. Within this design table, there are information about the fields (name, offset, length, type). So I used this information to parse through my result. But what if e.g. field nr. 1 doesn't fill the defined length? SAP cuts the String off!
Nothing is documented!

JSF Table StyleClass issue for a specific Field inside the Table

Am having an issue of dynamically setting the styleClass for a specific field inside a DataTable. Here is how the JSF code is ..

This Table has a specific column which has a input Text Box where user enter's data. This data will be validated in the bean where in after the validation if its exceeding a limit we should throw an error message and also highlight the field with a specific styleClass.
I am setting the StyleClass dynamically based on the User Input, so that I can display a highlited Error Field on the screen. Strangely enough, styleclass is getting set as expected for the first submit but doesnt show any styles for further submits. Even the existing style is getting removed from the second submit onwards. I am setting this "customStleClass" dynamic parameter as a Bean Property. Am sure these values are properly set coz to make sure I have put an h:output tag inside that table to display the customStyleClass values and they are getting set as expected but I see blank value for the class="" in the source of the Page.
Any help would be appreciated.

One option is you find the data element of that field GUID.
Now go to SE11 transaction and in data type put that data element and press where used list. In that select tables.
This will give you a list of tables where that field is used.
But again if there are lots of them it will be difficult to find.
The only option in that case is debug the extractor and find out.

How to populate customer specific field data in table /SAPAPO/ORDFLDS

I have explained in detail about the problem we face. I guess persons who has implemented enhancement: /SAPAPO/RRP_IO_COL in their system can help me out.
Background:
Purchase requisitions in APO is created by an idoc that comes from a legacy system using BAPI CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_POSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI3'.
Business Requirement:
I have a business requirement where I need to populate an additional data 'Original delivery date' from the idoc during PR creation in Product view.
Development:
To achieve the above requirement, we are following the below procedure in our development system.
1. We are using enhancement: /SAPAPO/RRP_IO_COL, method: RRP_USEX_COLS_FILL_01 and RRP_USEX_COLS_GET_TEXT_01 to display an additional field 'Original delivery date' in /sapapo/rrp3 - elements view. This field is restricted to Purchase requisition (Order category: AG) only. We are planning to populate the additional data 'Original delivery date' in this customer specific field and store it in table: /SAPAPO/ORDFLDS at the time of PR creation.
2. Table: /SAPAPO/ORDFLDS is appended with the 'customer specific field'.
3. We couldnt find a document on how the data can be populated in table /SAPAPO/ORDFLDS.
4. How to polulate the live cache data in the table '/APAPO/ORDFLDS' ? ( i.e using connection parameter )?

Fetch only required fields from SQL Table

Hi,
We have a table like below which will get data thru a job.
And I'm writing a Job/SP which will fetch 4 fields from that table and send them in a Email to Admins informing how many new employee are added newly.
How to loop thru these fields and not only there might be a chance where we will have 100 records and I need to take only first 30 of them and send.
EmpId
Empname
Deptname
Designation
Can any one has any solution on achieving this?

Report Painter: How to add new(customer specific) field to CCSS table

Dear Experts,
We have requirement to display the orders based on Profit center or Profit center groups in report painter. So in report library(6O1), we want to add fieild PRCTR or any customer specific field(ZPRCTR) to CCSS table. Could you please let us know how to add field ?
or is possible to add customer specific field(ZPRCTR) in CCSS and link that field to Profit Cetner(PRCTR) and profit center group.

How to read specific fields from BW table into ABAP?

Hi Experts,
Can someone help me how to use to FM: RFC_READ_TABLE to read specific fields from a BW table '/bic/zcust_chO01' which DOESN't EXIST IN ABAP.
I am getting an error in OPTIONS & DATA parameters.

FM: RFC_READ_TABLE is a RF FM so by providing BW system's RF destination you can get the values from required table.

How to delete duplicates of some specific fields in internal table

i am having internal table of it_ekko.
in that i am having some data of PO no, Line Item,IR value and IR qty......
i am having data like below.

now where ever IR value and IR qty is present i wanted that to display only once against that PO and line item

Field names for IR value and IR Qty are Menge2 and dmbtr2.

I cant use
Delete adjacent duplicates of it_ekko by ebeln = wa_ekko-ebeln and
                                                                      ebelp = wa_ekko-ebelp.
because i wanted that po and same line items , how many times it is like that only.....
in it_ekko table i only wanted to delete duplicates of menge2 and dmbtr2.

Very simple question about how to change a specific field in a table

Then I introduced the following java code in the Button:

When the button is pressed, I can print and check that the value obtained is the one selected in the drop down list, of the respective row.
The problem that I would like to write it in the respective static text field (in the same row) where the button was pressed.
What happens is that it write the value in all the column. So it reads from the write place and then write in every column?
How to write in the respective row?

Add a custom-field in the table MARC and manage it in MM01/MM02/MM03

Good day to all of you!
I have this task: To add a custom-field to the table MARC. This custom-field will be managed through the MM01/MM02/MM03 transaction as follows:
In the Basic Data 1 or Basic Data 2 the custom-field data will be added. Let's say the field is MATNR OBSOLETE.
I have searched and implemented the things in customizing: Made a copy of function group MGD1, added the field on the screen.
MY PROBLEM! How to manage it??? When the user enters MM01/MM02/MM03 and update this field, the field should be updated in MARC.
1. I am not sure that this custom-field should be on Basic Data1 or Basic Data2.They want it at plant level.
2. How to manage the data transfer from SAP Standard Program and my Custom Function Group.
PLs: Do not paste me link to sap technical site with that example, because there takes the custom fields and UPDATE a CUSTOM TABLE. I need to update MARC!
All the documentations i have read until now tell you how to add the field, ONLY the first part of the SOLUTION.

Solution
To add customer-specific fields to an existing material master table (such as MARA or MARC) , you can proceed as follows as of Release 3.0C:
      1. Use an append structure to add the fields to the required table in the Dictionary (this is not a modification; for details, see the SAP document "ABAP/4 Dictionary"). In Release 3.x, the length of the field names must be the same as the standard five character fields. This is necessary because of dynamic assignments. As of Release 4.0A, the lengths of the field names can be longer than five characters. If the changes of the fields should be recorded in the change document and taken into account during ALE distribution, set the 'Change document-relevant' indicator for the corresponding data elements. For table MARA in Release 3.x, you must also enhance the database view MARU because the database changes are carried out using this view. This small modification is no longer necessary as of Release 4.0A because the database view MARU is enhanced automatically when you enhance table MARA or the include EMARA (which is the data part of table MARA).
      2. Enhancing online maintenance in customized material master maintenance:
      Define a subscreen with your customer-specific fields in a customer-specific function group created as a copy of the standard function group MGD1.
      In Customizing, assign this subscreen to a maintenance screen using the "Copy customized material master" function. For details, see the Implementation Guide (IMG). As of Release 4.0A, program COPYMGD1 is available. You can use this program to create customer-specific function groups as required. This program is also incorporated in the Customizing function 'Configure customized material master'. Ensure that each field of the subscreen has a field statement in the flow logic, otherwise the data is not transported correctly. You can use subscreen SAPLMGD1 2002 as an example.
      If you want these fields to be subject to standard field selection, you must add new entries for them to the central field table for material master maintenance (T130F):
      Application examples for standard field selection:
      The field is mandatory and is to be flagged with a "?".
      The field belongs exclusively to the purchasing user department. Purchasing data and MRP data are both contained on one screen. However, the MRP controller is not to see the purchasing data.
      The following data is required for each field:
            a) Field name        (T130F-FNAME)
            b) Field selection group (T130F-FGRUP)
            Here, you should use a standard field group if the customer field is subject to the same field selection as the standard fields of the standard field group. If it is not, use a customer-specific field group.
            You must then check and, if necessary, modify the attribute of the field group using the function "Maintain field selection for data screens" in Customizing under "Logistics Basic Data -> Material Master".
            Field groups 111 through 120 that are not used in the standard system are reserved as customer-specific field groups. As of Release 3.0F, additional customer field groups are available. (For details, see the IMG).
            c) Maintenance status (T130F-PSTAT)
            List of the user departments that may maintain the field. You can display possible values by using the input help for the maintenance status field in the Customizing activity "Configure Material Master" when maintaining logical screens.
            d) Reference        (T130F-KZREF)
            This indicator must be set if the field from the reference material should be proposed during creation with reference.
Note: You cannot yet use Customizing to enhance table T130F; you can use only transaction SE16 (Data Browser) or transaction SM31. Future releases will include a separate Customizing function for maintaining customer-specific fields. See Note 306966. By implementing this note you can add entries to table T130F within Customizing. This type of maintenance is possible as of Release 4.5B.
You may change the entries for standard fields only with regard to the reference data and field selection group. Changing other data for standard fields constitutes a modification. Therefore, you cannot use the Customizing function "Assign Fields to Field Groups" to change this data.
In addition, you must not add new standard fields to table T130F.
      3. If you want to maintain customer-specific fields using data transfer by direct input or via ALE distribution, proceed as follows:
      Add the fields to central field table T130F (see above).
      Add the customer-specific fields to the data structures for the data transfer (for example, BMMH1 for the main data).
      Also, add the customer-specific fields to the tables in which the incorrect data is stored during direct input. These tables have the same name as the corresponding master data table and also have the suffix _TMP.
      For example: If you add customer-specific fields to table MARA, you should add the same fields to table MARA_TMP.
      If you use ALE, you must also add fields to the IDoc. To process enhanced IDocs, you can use enhancement MGV00001 with customer exit EXIT_SAPLMV01_002 for creating the IDocs and customer exit EXIT_SAPLMV02_002 for posting the IDocs.
      Prior to Release 3.0E, enhancing structure BMMH1 constitutes a modification. In this case, you must add the new fields tot the end of the structure before the last field (SENDE = record end indicator).
      As of Release 3.0F, structure BMMH1 contains the customer include CI_MMH1, which is part of the enhancement MGA0001. Here, you must proceed as follows:
            a) Add the customer-specific fields to include CI_MMH1.
            The names of the fields in CI_MMH1 must be identical to those of the corresponding fields in material master tables MARA, MARC and so on.
            Important: The fields must be CHAR type fields. Therefore, create CHAR type data elements whose lengths are identical to the output length of your fields in table MARA and so on. Use these data elements in include CI_MMH1, but use the field names from table MARA and so on.
            b) Activate include CI_MMH1.
            c) If you have not used customer structure ZMMH1 before, create it as a copy of structure BMMH1 and delete the standard fields that you do not require. You are not permitted to delete field STYPE and include CI_MMH1 when doing this. If you have already used structure ZMMH1, add include CI_MMH1 to it.
            d) Activate structure ZMMH1. This also adds the customer-specific fields to ZMMH1.
Run program RMDATING. This program generates routines which are supplied to your customer-specific fields from the input file. As of Release 4.5A, you also need to activate the routines/function modules generated by program RMDATING (especially, the MAT_MOVE_BMMH1_XXXX modules). Details about this subject (especially the procedure when using customer structure ZMMH1) are described in the IMG for transferring the material data under item 'Maintain Transfer Structure'. Also, check the declaration of structure WA in program RMMMBIMC to see whether it is declared with sufficient length. If necessary, enhance the declaration (for the time being, this still constitutes a minor modification).
In addition, lengthen domain DI_DATA with CHAR 5000. As of Release 3.1H, this has already been done.
Important: When using customer-specific fields, you can use only structure ZMMH1 to transfer the data. Otherwise, after the next SAP upgrade which contains new standard fields in structure BMMH1, the input files no longer match. If you want these new standard fields to be transferred, add them after your customer-specific fields (the order of the fields in structure ZMMH1 does not need to be the same as the order of the fields in BMMH1).
If you want foreign key dependencies or fixed domain values to be checked, or another check for a customer field, this is possible up to and including Release 3.0D only by modifying the corresponding check function modules. As of Release 3.0E, you can use function exit EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001 (SAP enhancement MGA00001) for these purposes.
If you want to use engineering change management to schedule future changes for your customer-specific fields or you want to use the 'Display at Key Date' function, execute program GENERATE in addition. This program generates the necessary assignments for interpreting the change documents. With regard to engineering change management, you must read Notes 60281, 60973, and 48962.
To date, it is not possible to integrate customer-specific tables in material master maintenance without making a modification. However, you can create customer-specific development objects containing the essential additional logic. You can then integrate these development objects in your system as part of only a minor modification.

Block individual field within a table

Hello everyone,
Is there an option to block a specific field within a table observed by SE16, without building a "view" for it?
I'll explain myselfu2026. There is a table containing credit card numbers, but this table also containing critical data for my client, that can not be drawn from elsewhere.
I'm looking for an option that would allow him to watch the whole table through the SE16 , without the credit card numbers.

Hi Julia,
The alternative option is to use SAP Queries using SQVI transaction code. You have an option to select the required fields for the table.
Further, you can assign the query to a transaction code in SE93 and assign the same to the users. Below are the steps to create a transaction code.
1. Goto SE93
2. Enter the transaction code name and description.
3. Select the option "Transaction with Parameters"
4. Transaction should be START_TRANSACTION.
5. Check Skip initial screen
6. Under the default values, enter the following:
D_SREPOVARI-REPORTTYPE     AQ
D_SREPOVARI-EXTDREPORT     Query name
D_SREPOVARI-REPORT     Query user group to restrict (not SU01 user groups)
However, the users should be assigned to the query user groups. These are further maintained using SQ03 transaction code.
Ofcourse, my recommendation would be to stick to SE16 views and restrict the authorization to the table views

Is it possible to migrate specific field/object of DB in offline migration?

Hi,
I am now using offline capture and offline data move to do migration( SQL Server 2k to Oracle 10g).
Could I select specific tables/ procedures/ functions/ etc. to capture during run the OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.bat ? Or any others way can do? ( online capture can only select specific tables/views but not procedures/ functions. It will capture ALL procedures AND functions instead.)
On the other hand, could I select specific field(s) of table? Since I just need 10 out of 80 fields to be migrated and the data size is huge, I can save much time in data move if I can do so. Maybe it is just a question of BCP usage. Any advices on anyway to do so will be great help. Many Thanks.

Yes this is possible if you use the fillColor method. It requires R,G,B value of color.
//Sample code which highlights cell2 in my table which has two rows.
frm1.Table1.Row2.Cell2.fillColor = "120,120,120";
// If you want highlight complete row.
frm1.Table1.Row2.fillColor = "120,120,120";
So now just apply an if loop which reads the input value as greater than 1 and use the code shown above.

STRING field in a table

I have a table in SAP(PLM) where I need to change the existing 255 CHAR fields to 1250 CHAR long. There are six fields in the table that I need to change. All the BAPIs using the table are all created and so using LCHAR data type is not going to be very easy. I have changed the data types of these fields to STRING. But it seems like SAP would allow only three fields in a table to have STRING data type. All the three fields that I changed to STRING type are working good. Is there any other data type that I can use to fit 1250 characters?

i think any table can have maximum of 4000 char as its length( check for the exact no..)
If it crosses that it wont be activated.
and also see the following from sap help.

Character string of variable length. This type may not be used in database tables. In ABAP this type is implemented as a reference to a storage area of variable size.
RAWSTRING
Uninterpreted byte string of variable length. This type may not be used in database tables. In ABAP this type is implemented as a referece to a storage area of variable size.
so i think its better to display as char and required length.

Export only specific data from PDF to Excel

Hello,
I am trying to figure out a way to export only specific fields from a PDF to an Excel sheet. I have dozens of past revenue statements from various companies. When I export the whole PDF at once, it does not transfer in any use able way without manually moving a bunch of things around. I am working with revenue statements from oil and gas wells. Therefore, the goal is to put the well name in one column, quantity produced in another, price sold for in another, etc. However, as I said, the statements are not set up in a way that transfers over in that format. It would be ideal if I could choose which columns in the PDF to transfer over and in what format I choose. In many cases, I have a different PDF for each month, which I could merge into one document if I need to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible to do it but it requires using a script. You can't do it by using the built-in Export Form Data command.

How to handle field symbols internal table values?

But my requirement is that I dont want all the fields of the table YAPOPLN.My output contains only 2 fields of the table YAPOPLN,which contains total 4 fields.According to my requirement only 2 fields will be getting into one parameter PARAM(this is function module parameter,which is from ALV classes) from the user entered output,which contains only 2 fields.So the above code is not working properly because wa_itab contains 4 fields and giving short dump.
If I am declaring the internal table with the required fields(only 2 fields) and referring that internal table to field symbol <FS>

Try this way:
If both the type of internal tables are same then you can directly assign dynamic internal table to static internal table.
itab = <itab>.
Suppose you have field symbol internal table <itab> which is different in structure from ITAB.
Now, you can create <wa> as follow:
FIELD-SYMBOLS <wa>.
DATA wa TYPE REF TO DATA.
CREATE DATA wa TYPE LINE OF <itab>.
ASSIGN wa->* to <wa>.
This way your work area is read.
Using [ASSIGN COMPONENT|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/fc/eb3923358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm] syntax you can read required component of <wa>.
Finally you can use that value to load static internal table.
