Query Region Personalization on Advanced Search Panel

Hi all,
I am trying to personalize query region. I have added a new search item to the advanced search panel and to the table (Search Allowed is set to the true). However when i tried to add a new mapping, I can select result item but the search item displays nothing in its list.
Therefore i cannot map the items.
Any solution for this problem?

Your solution to the indexing issue with the LIKE operator is taking a small issue and making a big issue out of it.
Why not just fix the initial problem with basic tuning techniques ... for example a hint would force index usage.
So might having accurate statistics. So might tuning one or more optimizer parameters a small amount.
You have chosen the wrong solution for a very small problem thus you are where you are.

Functionality loss when 'Using Query Bind Variables in Advanced Search

Regarding: 'Using Query Bind Variables in Quick or Advanced Search'
The functionality to do the following is lost when I use bind variables in the Advanced Search:
"Result matches all conditions"
"Result matches any condition"
"Case Sensitive?"
Is there a way to Search with Detail groups but to keep the above functionality?

Your application module impl java class extends the JHeadstart class JhsApplicationModuleImpl. THe latter declares a method:
public void advancedSearch(String viewObjectUsage,java.util.ArrayList arguments,Boolean allConditionsMet).
In your application module impl java override the advancedSearch method where you can include your own custom code before invoking the super method:
super.advancedSearch(viewObjectUsage,arguments,allConditionsMet);
The 'arguments' parameter is an arraylist of QueryCondition objects. You can set several properties for QueryCondition objects such as case-sensitity, operators etc.

Query bind parameter in Advanced Search

We are using a query bind parameter in an Advanced Search . The parm that is passed is on an Lov field which works when we use the lov to populate the field but doesn't get passed if we enter the value manually instead.We are using the setActionListener tag in a copy of the findLovItem.vm file:
<af:setActionListener from="#{searchxxxx.criteria.xxxx+attributename+}"
to="#{QueryBindParamBean.+attributename+}"
The 'from' value is taken from the 'value' field in SelectInputText tag of that attribute ('+attributename+') found in the Advanced_Search_Lov_Item in the .jspx. We are doing the exact same thing in a form view (not the search) for the same attributes but are using the corresponding value for that attribute instead and it works no problem:
<af:setActionListener from="#{xxxx+attributename+LovItem.lovFieldValue}"
to="#{QueryBindParamBean.+attributename+}"
any ideas why the value isn't being passed in the search page when entered manually?

Hi,
It does not directly ring a bell for me why you cannot copy this value. But since JHeadstart is simply using a bean with a Map to store it's values, it does not sound like a JHeadstart issue per se.
To simplify the test case, you could create a simple drag-and-drop ADF application without JHeadstart and see if the same problem occurs there. If so, can you please log a TAR at MetaLink ( http://metalink.oracle.com/ ), or ask this question at the JDeveloper forum? Thanks.

Reduce advanced search criteria LOV

I have created OAF page with resultsBasedSearch = advanced panel Query Region. In advanced search criteria, I see four values in LOV - "is, is not, after, before". I want to limit options to "is" and "after". Is it possible to do this? If so, can you tell me in detail how?

Query Bean Advanced Search not showing more than four criuteria

Hi,
I am new to using Query bean for Simple/Advanced Search. I have 6 criteria under the advancedSearchPanel criteria. In advancedSearchMapping, I am mapping all the six conditions. However when I run the Page, only the first four are shown. I am not sure as to why the other two are not rendering.
I modified the order of the conditions and after that again the first four conditions are being shown. I am not sure of the bahaviour as to why this is happenning.
Please help me figure out the issue.

I was looking for a way to display more than 4 criterias in the advanced search panel, and I found this topic.
So if I understand, there is no way we can display more than 4 criterias at the opening of an advanced search page ??!!
I really need to display default 9 criterias in this panel (my customer really need it)
1) Is there anyway to do it?
2) When I add a new criteria (a LOV), the only search operators I have are "is" and "is not", while in the standard criteria items, there is more operators ("begins with", "contains", ... ). Why?

Search Item drop-down does not show any data for Advanced Search.

I have a requirement to add a new criteria to the existing Advanced Search region of 'My Employee Information' in Manager Self Service responsibility. I substituted the AdvancedSearchVO to include the new column. Using personalization i did the below steps to show the new column in the page,
1) Created a 'Message Styled Text' item under Table Layout region to display the result. I associated the View Instance (AdvancedSearchVO1) and View Attribute (AttrColumn).
2) In Advanced Search Panel created a new CriteriaRow and set the 'Search Allowed' property to True.
3) In Advanced Search Mappings i tried to create the new mapping but the Search Item drop-down does not show any of the CriteriaRow item. But Results Item shows the 'Message Styled Text' item created in step 1 above.
Any idea what i would be missing becasue of which 'Search Item' property does not show any data?
I am using OAF version 12.1.1.

But when i tried to create a new custom page with advanced table and created a new LOV column via personalization. i was able to create new search mapping.. but this is not happening in the seeded page case :(.

Adding a new Search Field in Advance Search

In 1 of the advance search regions, :
We have a search panel in the adv search RN. In the poplist we have say 10 fields. We can add either of these 10 fields and use for searching. Now I want to add another search field ( an attribute from a table).
Question 1 :*
How to find the underlying VO from which the search fields are coming. I saw the page ( about this page) but couldn't find anything.
Question 2:*
Suppose I get the VO (resolution from above question) , if my extra filed is not there I add it in the VO ( VO extn), now how to configure this new field to the existing search panel fields?

Hi,
I think search fields are not mapped to any VO. If this is your standard page, check the standard controller. It might be getting values from pageContext.getparameter().
You can create a new item using 'Personalize this Page' option and extend your controller to set where clause for the same.

Advanced Search Save View loses search criteria

I have a custom page with a table based on a simple VO in a query region with the following search properties
Construction Mode = resultsBasedSearch
Include Simple Panel = false
Include Views Panel = true
Include Advanced Panel = true
Intitial Panel = Advanced.
The AM is not being retained.
The advanced serach criteria works well however when I save the view and then subsequently use it ALL rows get returned and the query criteria seems to get lost?
Am I doing something wrong?

I made user paersonalization = true for the table and it worked.

A bug in Advanced Search ?

In my requirement, I have an EO-based view object which is the view instance of an advanced table, and I provide two submitButtons, 'save button' and 'reset button' on the table which is used to do commit and rollback respectively for the data update.
When user click on 'reset button', getOADBTransaction().rollback() statement in the AM will be executed , then a strange thing happens, the "Add Another" poplist in the advanced search panel will become blank.
Hence I'm wondering transaction.rollback() will cause clearing the VO in the 'Add Another' poplist?
Do I have another way to roll back the change and meanwhile the poplist would not be cleared?

Navid,
JHeadstart checks whether the attribute definition is queryable before adding it to the list of advanced search attributes. A transient VO attribute can still be set to queryable, for a transient EO attribute this is not possible. We will remove this check on queryability in the upcoming patch release, since you have a valid use case. For now, you can subclass JhsSearchBean and override method createArgumentListForAdvancedSearch and comment out the check for "def.isQueryable()".

How do i do an advanced search when using adobe reader within a firefox window?

i used to be able to do an advanced search within a firefox tab, but when i updated firefox to version 33.0 from version 17.x, the interface changed and i can't figure out how to do it, any longer.
eventually, i figured out that a simple search can be done with control-F, but i'd like to get the advanced search panel.
when i use internet explorer, it has an icon of binoculars that will open advanced search. firefox does not have this.

Advanced Search relies on the use of a Catlog index built by the Acrobat search engine.
The browser add-ons cannot access the Catalog index.
Advance Search via Catalog indexes of network based PDF collections is possible.

Search by Date in Query Region Not working

I have created a custom page with query region -autocustomization construction mode.
This query region has a vo which contains one of the fields is requestedDate of date datatype.
Requirement is :
I need to fetch all records..based on requestDate (also)in search panel. But i am getting all the records in the table..
Please advise me to solve this issue..

You should check and compare the date field mapping with other fields that you have done the correct mapping like other fields , because there should be no issue if mapping is correct, is this entire custom page created by you ? or are you doing changes in existing custom page ?

OA Query Region shows previous search results when moving between pages

Hello All,
I have a custom OA Page which has a query region based on a LOV for searching device names. The problem I am facing is once device name is searched and I go to another page through the quick links and come back to same Search Device page, it shows the previous searched results. I am not retaining AM for any page navigation.
Things I have already tried :
1 . I have tried refreshing VO by using clearcache and reset methods on VO.
2. Get the Go button from the query region in ProcessFormRequest and on Go button click I use forwardImmediatelyToCurrentPage. And in Process Request method I am querying the results manually when Go button is clicked. Otherwise I am manually making the where clause condition 1=2 and ensuring that the VO does not return any rows.
But still I am not able to get rid of the issue.
The code used is pasted below for your reference. It is urgent. Can you please provide any pointers.

Hi Anand,
The getSearchResult method also does the same thing. I have also tried to remove the dependency on getSearchResult and wrote the same code in ProcessRequest() but still it does not solve the problem.
In fact, I have ensured that the VO does not contain any records and have checked these by using SOPs and debug in JDEV. The interesting point is the VO does not have any records but still the previous search data and search criteria is shown when we navigate to the page. Printed the query just before performing execute query and that query does not return any records. Also tried printing something if there are any records in the VO by using vo.hasNext().
Data gets stored somewhere and it is shown when the page is navigated from other page. FYI, this page is accessed from quick links and there are other pages also in the quick links and when we navigate between these pages we get to see the previous search results. Tried methods clearCache(), reset() on VOs but still unsuccessful.
Not even that I thought that the VO may be corrupted in some sense so I created a new VO instance in the AM and then used newly created VO instance in the query region. But still no luck.
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Query Region (autoCustomizationCriteria) search criteria issue

Hi All,
In my search page I have used a Query Region with Construction Mode as autoCustomizationCriteria. Fot this regionin in Simple search panel I have 3 dropdowns and 2 Date Fields(OAMessageDateFieldBean) which in turn are mapped with related simpleSearchMappings fields.
On this page , for search result table as table actions i have a create button which transfers me to create page. On create page I have the same dropdowns and date fields which are there on search page as search criteria.
Now when i create a record , on click of create button records gets created and controls returns back to the search page with this newly created record in the search result table.(by default whenever search page is rendered it shows all records)
The problem here is the search criteria dropdown and date fields gets populated with the values with which a new record was created .
Why these values are getting populated as the page is difference and whenever the VO is querried I am already clearing its cache?
Any suggestions regarding this ?

Hi RamKumar,
I have tried not to retain the AM and it worked but now there is a different problem.
On create page on click of save button the record gets saved and related message is displayed on search page. (Used to work before i made retail AM flag false)
But now as i have set it to false I am unable to show these messages on the Search page .
Any idea how both these things ie dropdown with no values(on search page) and message can be achieved ?
