A bug in Advanced Search ?

Hi,
In my requirement, I have an EO-based view object which is the view instance of an advanced table, and I provide two submitButtons, 'save button' and 'reset button' on the table which is used to do commit and rollback respectively for the data update.
When user click on 'reset button', getOADBTransaction().rollback() statement in the AM will be executed , then a strange thing happens, the "Add Another" poplist in the advanced search panel will become blank.
Hence I'm wondering transaction.rollback() will cause clearing the VO in the 'Add Another' poplist?
Do I have another way to roll back the change and meanwhile the poplist would not be cleared?
Please help.
Regards,
MZ

Navid,
JHeadstart checks whether the attribute definition is queryable before adding it to the list of advanced search attributes. A transient VO attribute can still be set to queryable, for a transient EO attribute this is not possible. We will remove this check on queryability in the upcoming patch release, since you have a valid use case. For now, you can subclass JhsSearchBean and override method createArgumentListForAdvancedSearch and comment out the check for "def.isQueryable()".

  • Bug after adding fields in advanced search mode of af:query

We are migrating from JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7.
    I noticed the following issue:
In a page with search criteria (based on a view object), when the user adds an additional field in advanced search mode and clicks on a full submit button in the page, the following browser popup appears:
"This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved."
This was logged as a bug in Oracle Support but we have not been able to find a workaround yet.
This is the only issue currently blocking us from migrating to 11.1.1.7. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any ideas on how we can bypass this behavior?
    Thank you,
    Gabriel.

Unfortunately, the latest update from Oracle Support was that they no longer consider this a bug!
SR 3-7706485141: Additional Fields in af:query problem - JDeveloper 11.1.1.7
Bug 17346704 - ADDING FIELD TO AF:QUERY ADVANCED SEARCH CAUSES SPURIOUS WARNING DIALOG POPUP
    1. I cannot understand how something that blocks user actions and cannot be bypassed in any way could be considered "acceptable behavior".
    2. I also do not understand how a Bug can be lodged and then have its status changed to "Not a Bug".
    3. Even if we were to ignore this issue and convince our customers that they should be delayed by meaningless popups while working (which we cannot), their is still another issue that makes this functionality dysfunctional. When the user clicks on "Stay on Page" the popup closes and the page freezes and becomes unresponsive.
Off course this is another issue and a different SR should open, but I think it shows that something is going very wrong with this functionality.
I wonder if anyone else is considering using JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.0 in a production system.

  • Adding criteria in advanced search BUG in SAVE SEARCH

    hi
i added my criteria in advanceed search and evrythiing works ok.
just one thing does not work.
when i try to save my search view i get a message error when i add my new custom criteria with a specific value i get the following error :
    missing right parentesis...
    any idea ?
    thanks
    Dan

i created a specific page from the following xml page :
    /oracle/apps/eam/workorder/webui/EAM_WO_SEARCH_RG.xml
i wanted to add a new criteria in the advanced search.
    I did it by :
    _downloading the standard VO
_adding my specific VO by extending it from the standard VO
_in my specific VO i modified the query by adding a new column
_in my specific VO i added an attribute mapping
_adding a new column in the advancedtable region with a sortableheader
_adding in the advancedsearchpanel a new criteria with 2 children (one messgetextinput and a messagestyledtext)
_adding in the advancedsearchmapping a new item
    i make a test
now the advanced search has the new criteria in the list.
i type the value i want to filter.
the filter works with the new criteria
now i want to make another test.
i try to use the functionality save search.
when i try to add the new criteria i just added and type in a value i get the following error :

  • How can I get a LOV to work in the advanced search area

    I am using JHeadstart 10.1.3.3.
We are doing a LOV lookup on User-id. When the user selects a user-id or just starts keying in a user-id I have my Jheadstart code to pull in the full-name whenever the client selects a new user-id or starts keying a userid.
Under UserId we have the following definition
    PersonIdentitiesLOV
    UserId <= UserId
    FullName <= CombinedName
We set up PersonIdentitiesLOV so that "Use LOV for validation" is set to true.
When I tested my code, in the advanced search this is what happened:
    1) When the client selects a user-id the FullName field gets populated
    2) When the client just keys in the user-id then the FullName DOES NOT get populated.
Someone told me that there is a bug in JHeadstart in 10.1.3.3 where if you turn on the "Use LOV for validation" then it does not get executed in the Advanced Search.
How do I get around this problem.
If this does not work then how would it be best to display the full name whenever someone keys in a user-id. We are using this full name display for auditing purposes at the cashiers wicket whenever someone keys in a userid and does not recognize the person. We want the full name displayed along with userid for verification purposes.
Any idea on how to get this working?

This is not a bug, it is intended behavior.
In search fields you might want to search for parts of the name, using a wildcard, that's why the auto-complete is not working there.
If an end user wants to search the complete name, he can use the LOV to pick a value.

  • Problem in using quick and advanced search based on transient items

    Hi everybody
I want to have an unbound string item in my form and allow users to use advanced search and quick search on that item.
I read the following post About advanced search and added a transient
item on view object and overrode the advance search method in application module and realized that the value of that string was
    added to arguments.
Then I decided to add this transient item on entity object instead of view object so that we were able to add the item in one place and
use it in several view objects. I added an item in the entity and unchecked the persistent flag but I can't set queryable flag since it was disable.
I added the item in the view object and by use of application definition I forced the item to be shown in the advance search.
I generate the application and the item was shown correctly in the advanced search but when I set the item in advanced search its value
was not sent to advance search method.
Is it a bug ? (value of the field in the advanced search section was not sent to advanced search method )
Is it a way to add a queryable transient item in the entity object and still benefit from overriding advanced search method ?
I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Jheadstart 10.1.3.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Navid

    Navid,
JHeadstart checks whether the attribute definition is queryable before adding it to the list of advanced search attributes.

  • Advanced Search-Clearing search criteria

    Hi,
I am developing apps using JDev 10.1.2. and JHS build 32.
My problem is with using the Advanced Search on page with table layout.
The Advanced Search contains one lookup field (a lamp).
When I enter something in the lamp field and press Find button I get proper result.
Then I run Clear. All field from Advanced Search region are cleared.
Then I run Find and I get question similar to "You are about to leave page without commiting changes...". I choose OK and the lamp field get the old value and the result is incorrect.
    What is wrong?
    regards,
    Cezary

    Cezary,
This is indeed a bug in JHeadstart, thanks for pointing this out. The fix will be present in the next release, but for now you and anyone running into it will have to apply a workaround: in the UIX page, locate the "FindXXX" field that has this problem. It will be easy to find because its name is suffixed with "_No_Update". This is incorrect (for the find field, it is OK for the actual form and/or table field!!). Remove the suffix NoUpdate and all should be well again.
    Hope this helps,

  • How does 'Does not contains' work in advanced search?

I'm deploying a application based on JHeadsart and i am very enthusiastic about it! Thanks for the good work. I have a question about the 'Does not contains' search option in the advanced search/set by user mode.
It looks i have to use wildcards which is not necessary with the contains option.
    Example:
    In the JHeadstart demo tutorial.
I search on the lastname of employees with 'does not contain'.
If i use does not contain 'A' i get 107 records
If i use does not contain '%a%' i get 51 records
If i do not enter any criteria i get 107 records.
    Is this the intended behavior?
    Thanks,
    Ruben Spekle

    Ruben,
This is not intended behavior, you have found a bug!
It turns out that we do set the wildcard usage in case of "does not contain", but we only interpret this wildcard usage if the operator is "like" (and we should also do this when the operator is "not like").
We will fix it in the upcoming release. If you want to fix it before that, you should make a subclass of JhsApplicationModuleImpl and use that as the superclass of your application modules. In your Impl class, override advancedSearch(String, ArrayList, Boolean), and use instead of QueryAttribute your own subclass of QueryAttribute. In your subclass of QueryAttribute override getQueryValue to also apply the wildcardUsage when the operator is NOT LIKE.
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention!
    kind regards,

  • Advanced Search is Broken

    1. In Internet Explorer and Chrome, I am unable to select a specific board(s) to search - see below:
    2. I cannot have more than 1000 items in a result set, and there is a bug when you try to access more than 1000. When viewing 250 results per page, the first four pages work fine (results 1 through 1000), but page 5 onward returns an incoherent and incorrect message. (Ideally, I want it to return results, not simply a coherent message)
    3. I would like to see some more significant digits instead of "about 3000 posts". This may be a query limitation, but I suspect it's a front-end formatting issue that can be resolved easily.
    4. Still cannot perform a search with an empty search query. This field should not be required, given other search parameters are provided (Username/ID, or Date Range, or ...). My workaround is really sloppy - the amount of HTML alone returned by the server when performing a search like this exceeds 1.2MB per page (  )
    5. It's irksome that the only way to access the Advanced Search is by performing a quick search first. The Advanced Search link is only accessible once you're in the realm of the Search page.
I would love to see bugs and interface limitations in Search (and it's good buddy Sort) get bumped to Showstopper/Critical/Red Alarm/High Priority.

It turns out that you have to click on the little ">" symbol. Thanks for this tidbit, I didn't know you could expand the categories to view the boards. But still, even now that I can see the boards, I cannot figure out how to filter based on board!  Intuitive, it's not. I think this new interface was put in because in the previous one when you clicked on the LabVIEW board there was a text box that got filled in with 170 (the board ID), which was even less clear. Yes, I remember discussion on this confusion - that's the text box that used to be populated that is now missing (see picture above).
    3. I would like to see some more significant digits instead of "about 3000 posts". This may be a query limitation, but I suspect it's a front-end formatting issue that can be resolved easily.
Frankly, I think when you have that many results it's somewhat irrelevant whether the number displayed is 3000 or 3010. I mean, what difference does it make? Clearly it indicates that your search query is too vague. Information comes in many forms. From ground level, I agree completely, but at 10k feet up these assumptions are no longer relevant.
    4. Still cannot perform a search with an empty search query. This field should not be required, given other search parameters are provided (Username/ID, or Date Range, or ...). Are you're referring to the Advanced Search page? I'm able to enter a search without a search query. For example, I can search for all posts by me. You're right - supplying Username/ID relieves the requirement of a search query, but simply specifying board and date range does not relieve the constraint. I was too generic with my anecdote. Point remains though - I would love a less constrained interface for searching, like it used to be before the upgrade!

  • Advanced Search (Ctrl+Shift+F) broken with Protected View = All Files Adobe Customization Wizard XI

I've updated Adobe Reader to version 11.0.09 and it was discovered that the Advanced Search (Ctrl+Shift+F) reports back errors on all words searched inside PDF document/
    Reproduce:
    1. Use Adobe Customization Wizard XI
    2. Create a MST file for the Base Adobe Reader 11.0.0 MSI (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi)
    3. Under Security -> Protected View -> (Set to ALL FILES)
    4. Save MST file
    5. Install Adobe Reader XI using created MST File and then Install AdbeRdrUpd11009.msp
    6. Open any PDF document and search for words using advanced search: (Ctrl+Shift+F) All searches return errors unable to display search.
The error can be reproduced and only occurs on Adobe Reader 11.0.09. None of the previous patches of Adobe had this issue.
The fix actually requires to remove and re-install Adobe Reader but with Protected View=OFF
Please can you confirm bug and report any solution or workaround so that Advanced Search works with Reader 11.0.09?
    Thanks

  • Customize Advanced Search Options - Permission Set

I'm looking for a way to customize the Advanced Search Options on a per user (or permission set) basis, is there anyway to do that?
Idea here is we have multiple clients accessing our final cut server system and would like to customize their advanced searches to include only their metadata information and not other clients metadata information.

No, there is only one Asset Filter group. I'd like to see differentiation from the Subscription and Search Expired filters and the advanced search, and I placed a bug report to that end. You should do the same. Call it an "Enhancement".

  • How to get all Conditions in Advanced Search

    Hi All,
I'm implementing the AdvancedSearch using Query bean.
I have defined the Criteria row with one Item of Varchar2 Datatype.
On Advance Search the poplist shows only two conditions (Lookup type=ICX_CONDITIONS) of "is" and "is not". How to get the complete list of conditions ("contains", "ends with", "starts with"....)
    Thanks,
    Satya

What is the item type for which you get only the two conditions.
If the item type is OAMessageChoiceBean or OAMessageLovInputBean the conditon poplist will contain only those two options. And if the datatype is Boolean the conditon poplist will again contain only those two options.

  • I am having problems using Firefox with Ebay in the last 10 days. The advanced search link is dropping off the page and there is no way to access it now.

I have been using Firefox and Ebay for at least 12 years with no problems whatsoever. But in the last 10 days I have been having trouble with the Advanced Search link disappearing from the page on Ebay. If I do a search from the Ebay home page it will show the results, but the Advanced Search link (in blue letters) which always used to appear to the right of the Search button is gone. If I click Search again at this point I can see the Advanced Search link appear for a millisecond, but then disappear just as quickly. Also, if I refresh the page the same thing happens. I tried to duplicate this problem with Internment Explorer and it didn't occur, so it appears to be Firefox that is causing this issue. Of course when I contacted Ebay they told me my problem was that I wasn't using Internment Explorer! I love Firefox and do not want to switch!

    <h3>Clearing Cache</h3>
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    <h3>Clearing Cookies</h3>
#Go to Firefox > Tools > Privacy > Remove Individual Cookies
#Find the site (ebay.com) that's having problems and clear all cookies.
    #Restart Firefox

  • How can i manual create a "advance search"?

There is a poplist in the page, and a named "Add" submitButton beside it.
When I click the "Add" button.
I need to create a Bean which is named from the text which is selected in the poplist.
    Now, I have two problems:
1.I select a text from poplist, then click the "Add" button. At the first time, I use to setForwardURLToCurrentPage() to create a new Bean. But at the next time, no matter which I select any text from poplist, I only get the text which is selected at the first time. The poplist and "Add" button in one MessageCompontentLayout, and the other compontents (consist of creating new Bean) in the other MessageCompontentLayout.
2.when I create a new Bean, how can I save the Bean which I have created it at previous time.
This function just likes "Advance Search".
waiting for your help. thank you in advance.
