Query's in a Workbook

How to find  all the Query names that are inserted in a workbook
we are right now in 3.0B, any idea how to get the Query's list in a work book and from which Infocube they are been from?
Regards

Hi,
If you want to do it the table way - here are some table names :o)
In the Open Workbook dialog, copy the technical name of your workbook.
- Go to SE16, table RSRWORKBOOK paste in the ID you copied and get the generated UID from the column (BW: Unequivocal ID in room and time)
- Go to SE16, table RSRREPDIR paste in the UID found in the table above and find the COMPUID (Query names). In here you will also be able to see the infocube used. Make sure you are displaying the 4. field (GENUNIID) as a selection option. To do this, select the menu: Settings -> Fields for Selection
If you need the text of the query, you can input the element UID in table RSZELTTXT in SE16 and you will find the query name

  • How to insert a query into a NEW workbook ?

    Hi Friends,
Could some one tell me how to insert a query into a new workbook? i am trying to run query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer, which always open the query on web when executed. i want to run the query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer and want it to open the result in Excell.
If i am not wrong then to do the same, i need to embed the query into workbook. Correct me if i am wrong. If i am right then plzz tell me the steps to insert the query into workbook.
Ur help will be rewarded in terms of points.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
If you open the BEx Query Designer from the desktop, you cannot execute the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for an Excel view. You can only execute it directly to the Web. This is true for the SAP BW 3.x version as well as the SAP NetWeaver 2004s version.
If you open the BEx Query Designer from within BEx Analyzer, once you select (or create) your query, you will have a green check mark icon that will then allow you to deploy the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for the Excel view.
However, this would only make sense if you are creating or modifying the query. If not, you would simply open BEx Analyzer and use the Open Query option in this tool to see your query in an Excel format, as has been previously suggested by the other respondents to this posting.

  • Rename a Query that feeds a workbook

Is there anyway to change the name of the workbook query without breaking the workbook. I wanted my queries to start with a 'Y' instead of the "Z" for security reasons but already built the query starting with "Z". The workbook has some formatting done to it that I didn't want to loose.
Will reward points for any help
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
    CAUTION!!!
Jacob's suggestion is the only really fool-proof way of doing things.  If, however, you have a situation like Karen's (the link that Bhanu Gupta recommended), where there are many workbooks that you want to change ... you might have incentive to attempt what Karen did.
The easy part of doing this is to access the (very) hidden worksheet named SAPBEXqueries, as Bhanu Gupta explained.  Once you have this sheet visible, you will NOT find the query technical name!  What you will find is the query's server ID.  (If you access the Properties dialog in the workbook, this is the second item shown on the Information tab.)
The more difficult part is ... when you saved the query with the new name (Y instead of Z), some other unique identifiers might have changed.  For example, if you have only reusable structures ... you are in luck!  If any of your structures are NOT reusable structures, then the structure itself has a unique identifier and each element in the structure has a unique identifier.  You will need to swap the old ID with the new ID for EACH of these.  Any that are not swapped will not appear in the result table (and user will need to use Change query, local view to get them back).
Also, Conditions ... will have new names.  They will all be set to inactive in the workbook unless you do as explained in the posting that Bhanu pointed you to and swap the old name with the new name.  Those names are NOT on the SAPBEXqueries sheet.  They are saved with the Excel file, but can only be accessed via the Insert >> Name dialog (or using VBA).  And, here you must be VERY careful since BW is going to be very picky about the parent of those names.  Each one must have the SAPBEXqueries worksheet as its parent (the default for all Names in a workbook is that the workbook itself is the parent).  Manipulating this manually is a chore.  You are almost forced to use VBA for this.
In short, it might take A LOT of work to get your workbooks back to "normal".  If you follow Jacob's advice, everything will work out more easily.  The only issue then is IF you have Conditions and IF you want the Conditions visible ... these will not display automatically.
Wish I had better news for you.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Bala B...

In ur analyzer u will get the design toolbar. Like u did for inserting query into workbook , same procedure u need to follow here-only difference being instead of query u select ur query view, while creating data provider.
    Steps:
Goto design mode, b selecting 'design mode icon' in analyzer toolbar.
Double click on 'analysis grid' icon from ur analyzer toolbar.
    In that create DP(data provider).
In that give a name for DP and select your query view in that screen.

  • Using VBA for loading Query data into Excel workbook

    Hi all.
I want simply load data from BEx query into Excel Wortksheet using VBA because of report formats and footer section at the end of the results.
Any code examples, tutorials, comments, suggestions will be regarded.
    thanx in advance,
    Gediminas

The difficalty is that I don't know the number of rows report will return. And I need my footer only on LAST page of workbook.
Another thing I can't imagine how to do by using standart BEx functionality is to design complex column header set (merged columns, sub-columns and etc.).

  • Query to find all workbooks/worksheets for each business area

    Hi Experts,
I need to find all workbooks/worksheets in each business area. Collect 'Query Statistics is checked for all the users'
Also are there any documents or information available of the description of the discoverer metadata database tables which will help in writing queries
    thanks and regards,
    John

There is no workbook/worksheet linkage to a business area. So you cannot search for a business area and find all the workbooks "attached" to that business area. The attachment of workbooks is at the folder level. It is actually possible, if you are sharing folders among business areas, to create a workbook with data from 2 or more business areas. I have tested that and it is indeed possible. In Discoverer Administrator you can check on folder dependencies to see what workbooks use the folder. Though in my version of Discoverer, there is a problem with Discoverer Plus, such that the workbook save in Plus is not creating this dependency information like it should. At least I have not found any way to take a business area and determine what workbooks would fall under it. Maybe someone else has found a way.

  • Query runs automatically on workbook open

    Hi,
Generally when we open the workbook, query runs automatically with the last accessed selections or it pops up the variable screen and runs the query. Is there any way like query can be shown as a button, and runs when the user clicks on the button? It is just like planning folder wherein we have multiple layouts shown as buttons. If two queries are inserted in the workbook, on workbook open, it runs both the queries, means it is locking both the queries data even though user will plan on one query at first and the second query next. Please let me know if any one has done that.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi Bindu,
an easy solution could be run query in non-planning mode (you have a tick in query definition) and then add a button to change query to planning mode in the workbbok (there are standard function available in workbooks) This button can be for only one query or multiple queries in workbook.

  • How to Find the Query used by the Workbook ?

    Hi ,
I am currently involved in trouble shooting a work book where some master data values are not being displayed.
How do i find, which Query the work books is using ? or Let me know as to how should i proceed in solving the same .

    Hi,
If you have access to BW Admin workbench... then choose the option metadatarepository(left side) of the BW admin workbench, search for the workbook(Technical name) and click on the "Network display dataflow" link.
If you want to know the relationship between workbook and the queries:
Check table RSRWORKBOOK which contains the WORKBOOKID and the GENUNIID.
Table RSRREPDIR contains GENUNIID, query name RNAME, AUTHOR, LASTUSER, INFOCUBE
Table RSRINDEXT contains the WORKBOOKID and workbook TITLE
You should join the tables by GENUNIID and select in RSRREPDIR the rows that have COMPTYPE='REP' for queries and object version active/modified.
With this information an infoset query can be created to list all workbook-query-user relationship (and even the query-infocube relationship).
    Hope this helps u...
    Regards,
    KK.

  • Difference between showed decimals in a query and in a workbook

I have my query set so that all the KF have to be shown with two decimals. When i execute the query it displays it perfectly. But when i execute the workbook to which my query is attached, it displays the numbers as it wishes: one column with 1 decimal, other with 6 and the other with 3.
    Why would it do so?
I tried to delete the query and insert it again, but no luck..

    Hi,
Trying changing the key figures decimal places and them setting them back to what you want. Then save. The query editor assignes the decimal places based on the order in which they are changed. Make sure that if you want a certain KF to have a certain number of decimal places that you change it after you change the decimal places for the characteristic or structure you are comparing it against.

  • Bex Query with Hierarchy on Workbook problem please help

    Hi all,
I have a problem, Im trying to copy information from specific cells on a query that I opened using Analyser, heres the situation:
    Account            Amount    New Col
    22110200           15 dlls
    -22110201          4 dlls
    -22110202          5 dlls
    -22110204          6 dlls
    121101010000   1dlls          4 dlls
    121101020000   1dlls          5 dlls
    121101040000   1dlls          6 dlls
4,5 and 6 dlls are amounts from the first 3 accounts, I tried simpy copying the information but for some reaseon when the report reloads the informacion is lost.
Also I using Hierarchy to display the values so if I copy the value from cell Q700 the value will change is the levels on the Hierarchy are expanded.
Is there anyway to do this? please help.

  • Changing the query without changing the workbook

    Hi all,
I've got a workbook containing 6 queries. Now I've changed the queries (changed the hierachy used).
However, the workbook still uses the "old" hierachy. Is there anyway to update the workbook within having to reinsert the queries into the workbook and save the workbook.
Please note that we are using BW 3.5!
    Thanks!
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Hi all,
    I found the following solution.
Opened the workbook, made the SapBexQueries tabpage visible via the Macro editor. Than searched for the technical name of the old hierarchy and changed it to the new technical hierarchy name. Save... and run! No problem!
    Worked like a charm!
    Cheers,
    Ron
