Query selection parameter popup timing

when we are trying to execute Query , for getting the selection paratemer , first time it is taking 10 seconds and next time it is hardly 2 seconds .
How can i reduce the timing for first time .?
Regards,

Hi Jain,
Generally  when we execute any query for the 1st time it 'll take min 10-15 min depened upon the data.once it executed then, that data 'll store at OLAP cache.so next time when ever you executed that particuler query, the system directly search in OLAP cache and executes that report.it 'll not search in the incube again.thats way when ever you execute that query after initial execution it 'll take very less time to execute when compaire with initial execution.
i hope this 'll help u
assigne points if it helps you

  • BEx query selection screen takes long time to popup

    Hi,
    I have a query which is taking long time to popup the selection screen. I have tried in RSRT the generate report option, the generating report takes 45 to 60 mins. After the report is generated the query selection screen comes up in couple of seconds. The first time I run the query everything its fine but then for the second time the problem comes back again.
    The selection screen takes +/- 40 mins to comes up in RSRT and in the portal it times out.
    I have run the statistics of the query and according to the statistics report the query takes a  lot of time for the following component :
    OLAP: Query Gen.     2681,312682
    I have removed the query from the cache monitor and after that regenerate the report. But these steps didnu2019t solve my problem.
    I made two test queries, in one query I have made the CKFu2019s and RKFu2019s directly at the infoprovider, and dragged and dropped in the KF structure. In the other query I made the CKFu2019s and RKFu2019s in the query KF structure itself. The query where I have the CKFu2019s and RKFu2019s at the infoprovider that query times out, the other query where I put the CKFu2019s and RKFu2019s in the query KF structure doesn't has this performance problem.
    What I donu2019t know is why the query is failing when I use RKFu2019s and CKFu2019s from the infoprovider, the other query donu2019t have this problem.
    Please advise how to proceed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Arash

    Hi,
    Please check the following notes which should be useful.

    >
    Java code? You can't execute that query at all since it is invalid. The parameter needs to be a query string NOT a query.
    select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select * from departments') from dual See the DBMS_XMLGEN package in the docs
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_xmlgen.htm#i1013206
    >
    Converts the results from the SQL query string to XML format, and returns the XML as a temporary CLOB, which must be subsequently freed using the DBMS_LOB.FREETEMPORARY call:
    DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXML (
    sqlQuery IN VARCHAR2,
    dtdOrSchema IN number := NONE)
    RETURN CLOB;
    >
    Then you execute that query like any other query that returns a result set. The result set will consist of one row and one column of CLOB datatype.
    See the JDBC Developer's Guide - it has examples of how to execute queries that return result sets.
    And this section shows how tow read/write CLOBs

  • Enhancements in ASN Search Query - additional selection parameter

    Hi,
    I am working on adding an additional search parameter in ASN Overview screen in supplier view. The search is POWL based and in the "Maintain Search Criteria" screen I have been able to add a custom field named "ZTEST_DATE" of type DATS.
    To get the above work done I have followed the following steps
    1. Enhanced the method IF_POWL_FEEDER~GET_SEL_CRITERIA of class /SCF/CL_FEEDER_ASN_OV.
    2. Enhanced the method PREPARE_LOAD_ASN_FROM_DB  of class /SCF/CL_WD_APPL_MODEL_ASN_OV in order to make the additional field as part of ODM parameter.
    Now on running the query I get an error mesage sayng "Access Path for the parameter selection couldnt be found".
    This error message can be traced to an exception which was raised in GET_ACCID_FOR_READ method of class /SCMB/CL_ODM.
    To get rid of this issue I have added additional entry in two Tables /SCMB/ORCPRM (for defining new parameter ZTEST_DATE and linking it to the ODM component DLH1) and another entry in table /SCMB/ORDTPACCSQ to link the previously defined selection parameter to the access Path ORDN for Order Data Type DELV with a sequence no 24 (all the access sequence till 23 had already been taken up for the other selection parameters). Now I am facing trouble to create an active version of this entry. It should be noted that each entry in the table /SCMB/ORDTPACCSQ has two entries one active and one inactive for each Access Path linked to Order Data Type. At this moment only inactive access path could be created.
    Is there any additional config step required to get an active version of the newly added access Path?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rohit
    Edited by: rkb_1984 on Dec 22, 2011 1:25 PM

    Hello Rohit,
       My understanding of your question is that, you are not able to create the ACTIVE access sequence with all those details what you've provided in your query.  I am sure you might have used the Standard SPRO path for ODM configs.
    You need to check whether you are creating the access sequence for the correct 'Access Path' or not (i.e. field ACCID in table /SCMB/ORDTPACCSQ). Also, you need to use the access sequence number beyond 90. Might be this would resolve your problem.

  • Attribute as Selection parameter in a Query?

    Hi,
    Can we add an Attribute of MAT_SALES as a Selection parameter in a Query.
    MAT_SALES is already available in Free characteristics in the query along with its attributes, it is not allowing me to make any changes to the existing one.
    I assume, we need to change the Attribute as a Navigational one and then add in Selection criteria.
    Can someone suggest on the same.
    Thanks
    Bhanu

    You have to make the attribute navigational in 0MAT_SALES and then go into your cube/ods/data target and make it a navigational attribute there as well.  If you are using a multiprovider on top of your data target, then you also need to make it navigational there as well.

  • SSRS 2012: How to get a "Select All" that returns NULL instead of an actual list of all values from a multi-select parameter?

    I have a multi-select parameter that can have a list of thousands of entries. In general, the user will pick a few entries from the list or "Select All". If they check "Select All", I would much prefer that I get a NULL or an empty string
    instead of a list of all values. Is there any way to do that?
    In experimenting with a work-around, I tried putting an "All" label with a null value in the list, but it is ignored (does not display in the drop-down). If I use an empty string for the value, my "All" entry does get displayed, but so
    does "Select All", which is confusing. Is there a way to suppress "Select All"?
    - Mark

    I adapted the following from a workaround posted by JNeo on 4/16/2010 at 11:14 AM at
    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/249227/multi-value-select-all-parameter-in-reporting-services
    To get a null value instead of the full list of all values when "Select All" is chosen:
    1) Add a multi-value parameter "MyParam" that lists the values to choose.
    2) Add a DataSet "ParamCount" identical to the one used by "MyParam", except that it returns a single column named [Count] that is a COUNT(*) of the same data
    3) Add a parameter "MyParamCount", set it to hidden and internal, then set the default value to 'Get values from a query', choosing "ParamCount" for the Dataset and the one [Count] column for the Value field.
    4) Change the parameter for the main report DataSet so that instead of using [@MyParam], it uses this expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!MyParam.Count =
    Parameters!ParamCount.Value, Nothing, Join(Parameters!MyParam.Value, ","))

  • SSRS using multiple select parameter in expression

    Hi,

    I have a multi select string parameter that gets populated using a query. I want to add this multi select parameter values to where clause in expression of mail data set. I am able to join the string and make it comma(,) separated but not sure how can I

    = join(Parameters!Column.Value,",")===>>a,b,c,d

  • Query with parameter as Array (UDT) very slow

    Hi.
    I have following Problem. I try to use Oracle Instant Client 11 and ODP.NET to pass Arrays in SELECT statements as Bind Parameters. I did it, but it runs very-very slow. Example:
    - Inittial Query:
    SELECT tbl1.field1, tbl1.field2, tbl2.field1, tbl2.field2 ... FROM tbl1
    LEFT JOIN tbl2 ON tbl1.field11=tbl2.field0
    LEFT JOIN tbl3 ON tbl2.field11=tbl3.field0 AND tbll1.field5=tbl3.field1
    ...and another LEFT JOINS
    WHERE
    tbl1.field0 IN ('id01', 'id02', 'id03'...)
    this query with 100 elements in "IN" on my database takes 3 seconds.
    - Query with Array bind:
    in Oracle I did UDT: create or replace type myschema.mytype as table of varchar2(1000)
    than, as described in Oracle Example I did few classes (Factory and implementing IOracleCustomType) and use it in Query,
    instead of IN ('id01', 'id02', 'id03'...) I have tbl1.field0 IN (select column_value from table(:prmTable)), and :prmTable is bound array.
    this query takes 190 seconds!!! Why? I works, but the HDD of Oracle server works very hard, and it takes too long.
    Oracle server we habe 10g.
    PS: I tried to use only 5 elements in array - the same result, it takes also 190 seconds...
    Please help!

    I did (some time ago and it was a packaged procedure) something like
    Procedure p(p_one in datatype,p_two in datatype,p_dataset out sys_refcursor) is
      the_sql varchar2(32000);
      the_cursor sys_refcursor;
    begin
      the_sql = 'WITH NOTIFICACAO AS( ' ||
                '      SELECT ' ||
                '       t1.cd_consultora, ' ||
                '                               where       t1.dt_notificacao_cn >= to_date(''01/09/2006'',''dd/mm/yyyy'') ' ||  -- note the ''
                '           where rownum <= :W_TO_REC) ' ||   -- parameter 1
                '         where r_linha >= :W_FROM_REC ';     -- parameter 2
      open the_cursor for the_sql using p_one,p_two;  -- just by the book
    end p;if I remember correctly

  • Multiple select parameter with each selected value covering multiple sub values

    Hello, everyone,
    In my SSRS report, I need to set a multiple select parameter called Group, with values: group1 group2, etc....
    When group1 is selected, it needs to apply to data of certain sub groups: sub-group1, sub-group2;
    When group2 is selected, it needs to apply to data of different sub groups: sub-group3, sub-group4 and sub-group5;
    when both group1 and group2 are selected, then, it needs to apply to data of sub-group1 to sub-group5.
    I know how to do it when only one group is selected: simply use a case statement in the query to select the right sub groups based on the group selected.
    But I don't know a good way to do it when multiple groups are selected.
    Any help, pointers are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    Regards

    Hi QQFA,
    If I understand correctly, there are two parameters (Group and Sub_group) in the report. When we select group1 in Group parameter, it will auto select sub-group1, sub-group2 in the Sub_group parameter; when we select group2 in Group parameter, it will auto
    select sub-group3, sub-group4 and sub_group5 in the Sub_group parameter; when we select both all, it will auto select all sub_group values. If I have misunderstood, please don't hesitate to let me know.
    In this scenario, we can create a temporary table with Group and Sub_group columns, then select Sub_group column values based on the Group field. For more details, please see:
    Create a dataset with the query below:
    CREATE TABLE #temp([group] nvarchar(50),sub_group nvarchar(50))
    INSERT INTO #temp VALUES     ('group1','sub-group1'),('group1','sub-group2'),('group2','sub-group3'),('group2','sub-group4'),('group2','sub-group5')
    SELECT * FROM  #temp
    where [group]  in (@Group)
    Set available values and default values of Sub_group parameter with get values from the sub_group field in the new dataset.
    Note that the two parameters are all multiple parameters.
    If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

  • Read Query String Parameter Value in SSRS

    Hi,
    We have Project Server 2010 and Sharepoint Server 2010 env and using SSRS 2008 R2 for reporting purpose in Native mode.
    Here I am displaying the SSRS Project report in Project Server page using Report Viewer web part like below.
    Here I want to read projuid query string parameter value (Highlighthed above in URL ) in SSRS by using any way, so that I can pass that
    projuid value in my SSRS report parameter to filter and make this report dynamic.
    Right now I have to select the ProjectName (Label) which passes ProjUID
    as value from the Parameter, but I want it should read the projuid
    from URL so that this reports will display the project the data for the opened Project automatically
    Thanks and let me know in case we can achive this using OOTB or some custom functions.

    Hi,
    For the report parameter, you can get the value from database query or some embedded funcitons etc. or even some customerized function.
    You may consider to create your own code for the report to read the projuid from application or URL. The customer code can be used to get the values from the applicaiton or from the url etc. Then report can call the customer code function to get the value.

  • CANT execute query with parameter on user defined tables using query genera

    Dear All,
    I have problem when executing query with parameter on user defined tables using query generator.
    It seems SBO cannot accept parameter to query user defined tables.
    I've tried these:
    SELECT T0.U_Status FROM [@ST_PR_H] T0 WHERE T0.U_Status = [%0] --- this FAIL
    I try to pass the value directly without using parameter and It works
    SELECT T0.U_Status FROM [@ST_PR_H] T0 WHERE T0.U_Status = 2 --- this SUCCESS
    This one works
    SELECT * FROM RDOC T0 WHERE T0.width =[%0]  --- this SUCCESS
    and this one works too
    SELECT * FROM RDOC T0 WHERE T0.width = 595  --- this SUCCESS
    Is there anyone can help me ....???
    Thanks,
    Alfa

    I  generated this code using query wizard ....
    SELECT T0.[U_Status] AS 'Document Status' FROM  [dbo].[@ST_PR_H] T0  WHERE T0.[U_Status] = (N'2' )
    and replaced the (N'2' ) with [%0]
    SELECT T0.[U_Status] AS 'Document Status' FROM  [dbo].[@ST_PR_H] T0  WHERE T0.[U_Status] = [%0]
    and It worked ......
    Thanks 4 all .....

  • LOV with a query Bind Parameter

    Hello,
    I am following the JHeadStart PDF tutorial over the HR Schema. On the page 45 this tutorial shows how to make a Dynamic Lookup with a Query Bind Parameter to choose the employees of a department with the expresion "p_dpt_id=#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}".
    After that I tried to make the same using a LOV instead of a Lookup but on the popup window opened with the LOV table the "#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}" value is null and I can´t access to this information. If on the LOV definition I write for example "p_dpt_id=30" this work ok and filters the query for the employees of the departen 30, but not with "p_dpt_id=#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}"
    There is another way to do that?
    Thank you very much

    I have done this task using the aid of the JHeadstart manual and these two previously posted threads,
    Group Used as LOV does not return records
    Query Bind Parameters and LOV's [JHS 10.1.3.1]
    The actual process to do it feels rather unintuitive and complicated, but I've tested it and thus far is works flawlessly.
    I whipped up a demo of this using the HR schema and JHeadstart, maybe I will post it on here.

  • Infoset with ldb IOC - error in selection parameter

    Hi Expers,
    could any of You pls help me with an issue - creating infoset with ldb, and get error in selection parameter definiton.
    I am about to create an infoset than a query, using IOC logical database, and get a couple of error message related to selecion parameters - such as: error in sel. parameter P_PICK is - Statement concluding with "...TYPE" ended unexpectedly.
    I do not really need this parameter for my selection, so I was to delete - but I could not find it amongst the selection fields in actual infoset. When I tried to create it, I got a message: it has already been created (of course), but where can I find / change it if not amongst listed selection parameters (Extras / Selection)
    I suppose I can not make any changes in DBIOCSEL - because COOIS is also using this ldb - and it might have some unexpected effect there as well.
    Later I started to create a Z*report via SE80, using same ldb, and it works fine.
    So it is not a burning issue any more, but still interesting, why infoset has problem with the sel. parameter which is actually not in use.
    All usefull answer is appreciated

  • Query Selection Screen does not appear in Web Analyzer

    Hi Experts,
    Query Selection Screen appears when we open the query in Bex Analayzer in production system. But when we open the query in ABAP or JAVA Web view, the selection screen does not appears.
    As the volume of data in the cube is very high, and since the selection screen is not appearing, the query extracts 1.5Mrecords and results in dump.
    Kindly let me know the possibility for selection screen not appearing.
    Note: The selection screen appear in Development system in Bex Analyzer, ABAP View and Java View
    Regards
    Suresh Kumar

    Dear Suresh,
    You can check if the parameter &VARIABLE_SCREEN=X is added to standard template or not, If not add this,
    In order to add this parameter in the webtemplate you have to change 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN and save it as ZANALYSIS_PATTERN and enter this standard web template under TCODE RSCUSTV27.
    Also I would like to explain you the behavior of Web Analyzer,
    Parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN=X only influences the WEB application at startup. This will not come into affect
    when you use the 'New Analysis' button. The 'New Analysis' button resets the dataprovider so this would not
    affect the variable screen and would not redisplay the variable screen as you require.

    Arvind
