Query view issue

Dear All,
I am facing a problem in query views.
In BW 3.5: When we create a view and save it with technical name which already exists, it gives error and dont allow to overwrite.
In BI 7.0: When we create a view and save it with technical name which already exists, it gives a message that whether we want to overwrite the existing view. If I say yes, it overwrites the existing view. BW 3.5 does not allow this.
I dont want system to overwrite the views in BI 7. Please let me know any solution for this.
Thanks in advance for help.
Regards,
Niraj

Hi,
Did you try using Save View command in the command wizard?

I have a query view for my data provider. I change the Variable at runtime and modify the layout and when i try to bookmark the page it always uses the defaults from the Query view.
    Variable Screen

Is there any way to Refresh the data provider to have the current variables values & layout in the page with the Bookmark?

  • What does it mean when the usecounts of Parse Tree for a view is incrementing when a select query is issued against the view?

I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.4033) and I'm troubleshooting an issue that a select query against a specific view is taking more than 30 seconds consistently.   The issue just starts happening this week and there is no mass changes in data.
The problem only occur if the query is issued from an IIS application but not from SSMS.  One thing I noticed is that sys.dm_exec_cached_plans is returning 2 Parse Tree rows for the view -  one created when the select query is issued
1st time from the IIS application and another one created when the same select query is issued 1st time from SSMS.   The usecounts of the Parse Tree row for the view (the IIS one) is increasing whenever the select query is issued.  The
usecounts of the Parse Tree row for the view (the SSMS one) does not increase when the select query is issued again.
There seems to be a correlation between the slowness of the query and the increasing of the usecounts of the Parse Tree row for the view.
I don't know why there is 2 Parse Tree rows for the view.  There is also 2 Compiled Plan rows for the select query.
What does the Parse Tree row mean especially the usecounts column?

    >> The issue just starts happening this week and there is no mass changes in data.
There might be a mass changes in the execution plan for several reason without mass changes in data
If you have the old version and a way to check the old execution plan, and compare to the new one, that this should be your starting point. In most cases you don't have this option and we need to monitor from scratch.
    >> The problem only occur if the query is issued from an IIS application but not from SSMS.
This mean that we know exactly what is the different and you can compare both execution plan. once you do it, you will find that they are no the same. But this is very common issue and we can know that it is a result of different SETting while connecting
from different application. SSMS is an external app like any app that you develop in Visual studio but the SSMS dose not use the Dot.Net default options.
Please check this link, to find the full explanation and solutions:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/query-plan-mysteries.html
Take a look at sys.dm_exec_sessions for your ASP.Net application and for your SSMS session.
If you need more specific help, then we need more information and less stories :-)
We need to see the DDL+DML+Query and both execution plans
    >> What does the Parse Tree row mean
I am not sure what you mean but the parse tree represents the logical steps necessary to execute the query that has been requested. you can check this tutorial about the execution plan: https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/performance/execution-plan-basics/ or
    this one: http://www.developer.com/db/understanding-a-sql-server-query-execution-plan.html

  • Query Throttling issue after increasing List view threshold in connected webpart

    Dear SharePointers,
I have connnected listview webpart deployed on site. Parent webpart
has 16 fields and over 3,000 listitems exists in list. Child webpart has 7 fields and more than 30,000 Items. The code works well in other sites in same web app and it also works well in other systems. We tested same in other system by increasing/decreasing
data but still we are not able to replicate issue. I know that this issue could also encounter if fields are not indexed in the list. Are there any other pointers which can use to debug this issue.

    Hi,
According to your post, a Query Throttling issue occurred after increasing list view threshold in connected web part.
By default, this limit is set to 5,000 items for regular users and 20,000 items for users in an administrator role.
    More information is here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff798465.aspx
Please try to enable the Daily Time Window for Large Queries:
1.Go to Central Administration-> Application Management -> Manage web applications.
2.Select the web application that contains the large list.
3.Click General Settings, and then click Resource Throttling.
4.Under Daily Time Window for Large Queries, click to select Enable a daily time window for large queries.
5.Set a start time and duration when most of your users will not be working.
    6.Click OK.

  • BEX Query Views - Reqd in PRD but need to create in Dev - Data Issues

    Hello Bw Gurus
    BI 7.0 ECC 4.7
We have a BEx Query in BI production which uses a work centre hierarchy. The user wants to create query views on this query to use in BI production.
Our normal transport procedure of a new development object would be BI DEV - QA - PRD
However the DEV environment does not have all the work centres and the data of PRD. So if the query view needs to be created in DEV then we could not set up the view correctly as there is not the workcenters or the data in DEV.
    Hopefully that makes sense?
Apart from allowing Query Views to be created in BI PRD directly is there any solution?
    Best,
    Steve Jones

If you need exact char values for workcenter to create your views you can quickly create the master data (just the values you want) in Dev and use them to create the views...

  • Error while saving a query view

    Hi All,
I am trying to save a query view in my favourites and it is failing with below message:
Namespace '/BIC/' must be set to 'changeable' (transaction SE06)
I have created many query view so far, this issue has just started. Could you please help us with this, as it is very urgent.
    Thanks and regards,
    Shashidhar.

    Hi,
Please set the setting as described in note 337950, it will help to fix the issue.
    solution:
    Releasing the object changeability
This setting is only intended for production or test systems that are
set to not changeable. It is not suitable for development systems.  For
this reason, this setting is only effective if at least one of the
conditions specified under 'Cause and prerequisites' is met.
Go to the Administrator Workbench (Data Warehousing Workbench,
transaction RSA1) -> 'Goto' -> 'Transport Connection' and choose 'Object
Changeability'. To display the function, you may have to enlarge the
window or press the arrow keys nearby.
In the following dialog box you can select the object types that you
want to be changeable, even though the system is set to not changeable.
These objects are not connected to the transport system; this means that
no transport dialog boxes are displayed. This only applies, however, if
the preconditions mentioned under 'Cause and prerequisites' are met.
First, after releasing an object type, only objects that are original,
that is, those that were created in this system  can be changed. This
prevents changes to objects that were imported into the system. However,
changes to these objects may be overwritten again during a new
    transport.
You can set all objects to changeable (even the ones imported into the
system) using the context menu (right mouse button), although this
setting is not recommended for the reasons mentioned above.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • How to Create/Modify/Delete a query view from the web template in BI 7.0

    All:
In BW 3.5, the <b>Query Selection View</b>  web item was introduced for users to create a query view to save the navigational state of a query. This web item was also available to modify and delete an existing query view.
The Query Selection View web item <u>does not</u> exist in BI 7.0. I see the drop down web item can be used to display the query views associated to a query.
Can anyone share how to create, modify, save or delete a <b>query view</b> on the web in BI 7.0
    Thanks,
    Kumar

Sanjay, we experienced the same issue. Below are a few pieces of information that may be of help: 1-The Save As button on the 0ANALYZER template saves the query to the portal. From Bex Web or Bex Analyzer, you have no access to these saved views. We created a ZANALYZER copy of the 0ANALYZER template and removed the Save As button. 2- If you right mouse click on any item in the query results grid of Bex Web, you get a small menu. Clicking on the menu item Save View will save the view to BI. You do not have the ability to delete the saved views from Bex Web. However, you can delete them from Bex Analyzer. This was not an option for us since most of our users are using Bex Web. 3- On the same menu, clicking on Bookmark, saves the navigation and also opens the Internet Explorer Favorites maintence window. The navigation is saved as an entry into the users Internet Explorer favorites where they can organize and delete their entries. However, deleting the favorite does not delete the entry for the bookmark in BI. The bookmarks are stored in table RSWR_DATA. Program RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG can be used to manage the saved bookmarks. We are loading RSWR_DATA into a chracteristic so that we can query the information in order to help us manage it. I hope this helps you and others that appear to be struggling with the issue of saved views in Bex Web.

  • Query Viewer not working

New install of CFB 2 on Win 7 32bit with CF901.
When right clicking on a database table in RDS Dataview I get an error , I get the error "/MyProject/.rdsTempFiles/RDS Query Viewer  does not exist". The same is happening when trying to open the RDS Query Viewer.
This works correctly in CFB 1.
Any suggestions what is going on? Is it a permissions issue or something similar? The .rdsTempFiles directory is created in the /MyProject folder and shows up in the Navigator.
    Thanks
    Doug

    Hi Kiran,
I cannot login to the Forums (the login is apparently down) so will answer what I have found.
Running CFB2 on Win 7 32bit. CFB 1 is also installed.
Tried the following: ( CFB 2 ALWAYS started with -clean option )
    1. started with no projects at all in Nav. View.
Added New Project called "test List" that was pointed to "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\testlist" folder - Query Viewer did not work
    2. deleted project from Nav View, deleted .project, .settings., settings.xml, .rdsTempFiles from testlist folder.
Added New Project called "test List2" that points to same testlist folder. Query Viewer did not work.
Renamed "test List2" to "testlist". Query Viewer did not work.
    3. Deleted project from Nav View, deleted .project, .settings, settings.xml, .rdsTempFIles from testlist folder.
Restartd CFB2. Added New project called "testlist" that points to same testlist folder. QUERY Viewer worked successfully.)))
Renamed testlist project to "Test List". Query Viewer worked.
Restarted CFB2 and repeated 1 and 2. Even re-started CFB2 after adding a new  project before trying Query Viewer. Did not work.
Uninstalled CFB2. Reinstalled CFB2. Same results as 1,2,3.
    Other interesting info.
In the Error Log when I start CFB2, I always get the following.
Unable to create a template transfer. Com.adobe.rds.core
Three more entries with No message except "No stack trace" - com.adobe.ide.coldfusion.server
This happens even after my reinstall.
    Hope this helps.

  • Missing Query Views

    Hi,
We are randomly missing query views in our production system across many dataproviders. This was not done manually by any user ie deleting views. Frequency of the missing views can be once in 40 - 50 days and hundreds of views get deleted from the system. We do not have any jobs performed in the background process for deletion.
In our SQL cache we noticed the class "CL_RSZ_WWW_DB_INTERFACE" with the statement "DELETE FROM RSZVIEW WHERE VIEWID = "A0 AND OBJVERS = :A1# but not able to locate where it originated from because of missing log and trace file information for the activity.
SAP at this point not able to confirm what would have caused to delete the views randomly from the system. We are still investigating and trying to find whether bookmark reorganization or deletion can cause the views to be deleted because of bugs in the system.
Is there any one in the community faced the similar kind of issues.
    Thanks
    Suresh

    Hi
We have experienced the same problem and checked for any program that may have caused this.
After some investigation we have found out that by running the FM RRMX_WORKBOOKS_DELETE without the parameter for OBJECT_VERSION,  ALL views in the system were deleted, even though you have specified a Workbook ID.
Please check whether you have run this program.
    Hope this helps

  • Query Views.

    Hi,
*How can the views can be seen a work book, whether they exist or not?
*How can the views in workbook can be deleted?
I am a little new to BW,kindly help on this issue.

    Hi,
When you run a BEx query the result is displayed on Excel. You could save this as a workbook
under a role  or  save view as global under a role.
You can save different query views under a workbook. Also  you could delete query views and workbooks provided you have authorization
    Hope this helps.

  • Housekeeping of Query Views in Portal

    Hi,
I am looking to provide housekeeping with Query Views on our Portal. At the moment all Query Views appear when you choose 'Bex Portfolio' and there are a large number in there now - most of which are redundant.
At the moment, I have two issues -
I want to be able to delete Query Views via the Portal (or possibly get the users to delete these).
(ii) If all query views appear in the Bex Portfolio, is there a way to create a Folder Structure in here that would allow an easier maintenance and 'ease of use' option for the end user.
Our users create their own views,  but I need ways of keeping this maintained.
Can anyone help with how I can resolve any of the above?
    Much appreciated,
    Scott

Get rid of the table qualifier:
SELECT * FROM view_mytbl" WHERE UID IN (#URL.UID#)

    Hello,
I have recently migrated from MSAccess to MySQL. In CF 5
    everything was
working fine, but when we moved to CFMX 7, there is this one
    query that
    fails
and I have tried many different ways (putting single quotes,
    parathesis
    etc.)
I have created a "View" in MySQL database called
    "view_mytbl" .In this view
    I
have queried two different tables, tbl1,and tbl2. Now in my
    source code
    of
CFMX, I query this view by passing a where clause.
    <cfquery name="myquery" datasource="#DSN#">
    SELECT * FROM view_mytbl" WHERE tbl1.UID IN (#URL.UID#)
    </cfquery>
This was fine in CF 5 , but now I get the error as "Unknown
    column
    'tbl1.UID'
    in 'where clause' "
I have tried putting single quotes around #URL.UID# but that
    does not
    work.
Please help, I am exhausted in searching for this solution.

  • Reseting filters in a Query View

I have a query built that has a good bit of logic.
For reporting purposes I'd like to create query views from this one query so I only have to change the logic one place when the user decides they want something tweaked.
I need a view by company, one by responsible person  etc ....
The problem arises that when you create the views the filters are "stuck" at what they were then (which makes the views much less useful).   My main issue is for time.  I want the Calendar Year/Month to be the value of the current closed month (the default value in the variable).  But I want the user to be able to change it <u>after</u> running.
These views will be used in web templates.   I've tried a few things but the closest I've come is to have a button or link that when clicked sets the filter value based on another data provider.   I don't want that -- I want the value reset when the web template opens.  I tried putting the same command in the "Before rendering" of the web template properties but get a stack overflow error
Is there a way to save the navigation state of a query without saving the filter values?  Or is there a way I can reset the filter value in the web template?
    I very frustrated

I am using the new NetWeaver2004s.
We usually just publish the template to the role & have the role in the portal so I'm not sure how to add that parameter in that case.
I tried adding to the end of the URL -- but apparently don't have the right syntax.  What syntax should I use?
I tried checking "Reset Variables to Default" in the web template with no effect

  • Query Views versus Bookmarks

Can anyone help me to understand the difference between a query view and a bookmarked query, and when best to use either of them?
My understanding is that a query view is a saved navigational state of a query. Allowing the same underlying database query to be used for multiple query views, thus saving on system resources and improving performance.
A bookmarked query also seems to achive the same result. It saves a navigational state of a query.
So when should I use a bookmark and when should I use a query view?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I will explain the issue again so please tell me the process we are following is correct or not?
Last month we created views for two queries and attched them in the workbook, the variable values which we have given at that time were month = 01 year 2010.
This month when we try to access the workbooks we are getting 0 records in the views of the workbook.
    now my doubt is:
If we create views for variable values month jan and year 2010, will they show output when we change the variable values to Feb, 2010?
    or
Do we have to create new views every month and attach them to the existing workbook manually?
    PLease revert.
    Thanks
