Query View not available as DataProvider in Report Designer

Hi experts,
I am unable to find any query views when I tried to insert DataProvider in Report Designer. All that is available in InfoAreas view is only queries.
When I tried to restrict type to only Query View, they are only visible in History view and not others (e.g. Find and InfoAreas)
Is this the same case with everyone and why is that so?
Thanks!

Anyone who had experienced this?

  • Windows 8 - Adobe PDF Viewer Not Available

I have two new Dell touchscreen laptops with Windows 8 (not 8.1).
I am unable to get the tile/app integrated browser to open PDF files.   Upon downloading a PDF it reports "Adobe PDF Viewer Not Available".
I've gone to the app store from Microsoft, and downloaded the tile/app reader, and it reports being installed....but no joy.  I've gone to the Adobe site, and looked for and installed any/all Windows 8 viewers I can find, but it still doesn't work.
I CAN view PDF files by clicking on the Windows key, clicking on the desktop, opening IE, then using the Adobe Reader 11 that was installed.  This seems so pointless, because the only way to view a PDF is to take about 4 extra clicks than I do in Ubuntu, Windows 7, or a Mac.
    What's up with this?

Internet Explorer has two versions on Windows 8/RT.
    (a) The desktop version of IE supports plugins and accelerators.  This is the version that you launch from the Windows 8/RT desktop.
    (b) The Windows Store app version (with "Modern" or "Metro" UI) of IE is touch-optimized, full screen, and plugin free. This is the version that you launch by tapping/clicking the tile in the Start screen.
See the Microsoft documentation titled Get ready for plug-in free browsing.
"Starting with Windows 8, IE is one web platform that provides two browsing experiences: the new IE in the new Windows UI optimized for touch devices, and the traditional browsing experience of Internet Explorer for the desktop. As a Windows app, Internet Explorer runs without plug-ins so that you have a clean, fast, and secure web browsing experience, while also providing a native Adobe Flash player. "
Similarly, Adobe Reader also has two versions on Windows 8/RT.
    (a) The desktop version is called Adobe Reader XI. It is a mature product that has been available in the market for the past 20 years and offers a rich set of features.  It supports in-browser viewing of PDFs by installing the browser plugin to the desktop version of IE.  However, the downsides of the desktop version are the incompatibility with the Windows RT operating system and security vulnerabilities. In general, the desktop version is less secure than the Windows Store app version.
    (b) The Windows Store app version is called Adobe Reader Touch.  It is a relatively new product that was introduced a year ago.  It does not support in-browser viewing of PDFs because of the security restrictions that are imposed on all Windows Store apps. It is compatible with both Windows 8 and RT operating systems.
Because the Windows Store app version of IE is designed to be plugin-free, no other desktop/Windows Store apps (hence, not even Adobe Reader XI) can install additional plugins (other than the Flash support that is built-in by default).
If you want the in-browser PDF viewing support, you need to use the desktop version of IE and the desktop version of a PDF viewer like Adobe Reader XI.
This is the application architecture decision that Microsoft has made deliberately. It's not a bug or oversight.
Microsoft has the Windows Store app version of PDF viewer called "Reader".  It may be possible for Microsoft to add the in-browser PDF viewing support using Reader (just like Google Chrome does) in a future release of the Windows Store app version of IE.  But it did not happen in the newer version of the operating systems: Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.
If you have any feature requests/suggestions/questions regarding the Windows Store app version of IE, please visit the Microsoft forum instead.

  • Unable to Transport Querys Object (ELEM) of type 'Query' is not available in version 'A'

    Hi,
We need to transport some querys from production BW 7.3.1SP7 to synch with Dev.  I know, I know but had no choice but to created querys in PBW due to no data in DEV...
In RSA1, we collect query and get errors for every object (ckf, rkf, vars etc) and when changing dsiplay from hiearchy to list, there are no objects included under the query element.
Opened the system in SCC4 for automatic recording of changes and changes to repository and cross clinet customization allowed and changed the client role to Test.
Tried opening and resaving the query in query designer.
Query is active in table RSRREPDIR
Checked SCN and OSS have yet to find a solution

    Here are the error details
Object '4T3M5JI7050ENPG6G336XWYNK' (ELEM) of type 'Query' is not available in version 'A'
    Message no. RSO252
    Diagnosis
You wanted to generate an object with the name '4T3M5JI7050ENPG6G336XWYNK' (in transport request ELEM) of type 'Query' (TLOGO). This is, however, not available in the BW Repository database. It does not exist in the requested version A. If the version is 'D' then it is possible that an error arose during the delivery or installation. If the version is 'A' then the Object was either not created or not activated.
    System Response
The object was not taken into account in the next stage of processing.
Thank you so much for your time!

This is an SAP BUG which is corrected by this note:

  • Materialized view not being used in the report

I have had a materialized view (MV) for a particular report. Recently, the report definition has changed little bit, so the existing MV is not being used by the report anymore. I copied the code Discoverer's SQL Inspection and recreated the materialized view. But still it is not working. Obviously, I am missing something at the database level. Does anyone have any idea? The database is 9i and Discoverer is 9.0.2. Thank you!

The SQL that you see from the Inspect SQL option will provide you with the SQL that Discoverer sends to the database. The database then may do a query rewrite to point to an available materialized view if available. This rewrite won't be seen from the inspect sql option. You need to check at the database level to verify if a query rewrite did in fact take place.
You may want to check the section titled "Query Rewrite with Materialized Views" from Ch1 - "Introduction to the Optimizer" in the Oracle9i Database Performance Tuning Guide and Reference, Release 2 (9.2), Part Number A96533-02, available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96533/optimops.htm#37287

  • Filter by "Result from another query" option not available in Webi

    Hi all
I am trying to filter one query by zipcode based on the results of a previously run query in the same report. However this option is not available on the drop down when I drag zipcode into the filter pane. I am restricted to the options: Constant, Value(s) from a list, Prompt or Object.
I have "use subqueries enabled" within my universe and the data is held in an RMDBS (i.e. it is not an OLAP universe) so I expected this functionallity to be available.
I am using XI 3.2 and Java version 1.6.0.15, i.e. up to date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sharon

    Sharon,
Here is one method to achieve your objective, however, it involves the use of Merge Dimensions.  Here goes:
In the Edit Query mode, build two queries, where the first query has all the objects, to include Zip code, and the second query has the zip code, filtered for the one at hand.  (you probably have done this portion already)
In the Edit Report mode, think of your data set as Query1 (all the data objects you want) and Query2 (zip code and filtered on that zip code) and thus you'll have Query1.zip and Query2.zip.  If you build a grid containing all the data you want from Query1, then simply add Query2.zip to that grid, voila, the grid will be "filtered" due to the "merge" that occurs under the wire.  The 'problem' here is that you have two columns that are repetitive and there is no inherent way to "hide" a column in WebI other than masking the column with white on white (font/borders) or some folks sometimes apply Alterters to achieve the same.
Best of luck in moving forward with your task.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Web Template with Query Views not showing Variable Screen

Hi, I have a Web Template using 3 Query Views based on a single query.  The Query has 2 mandatory variables (CALMONTH and VERSION).  When I execute the Web Template it does not prompt with the Variable Screen, and presents the report with the Variables that were in place when the view was saved/created.  I'd like the Variables to appear.
    1. Is this the correct behavior?
    2. Is there any documentation that might describe this behavior.
    3. Should I just copy the query and create 3 queries instead?
Note: I did a search in SDN and found lots of similar threads, but nothing exact.  Also, I know about forcing the variable screen, but I thought I shouldn't have to do this.
    Thanks!

k forget the view, when you run the main query... do you get a pop up for variable screen,. yes or no?
if you dont then try to run another query and see if you get the variable screen as well. if you dont then its a bug. if you do then something is wrong in your query and its having an issue, but if you do get the screen on your query then it is a setting in your web template not in your query.
you can also try to run the query in RSRT backend ...

  • Query Viewer not working

New install of CFB 2 on Win 7 32bit with CF901.
When right clicking on a database table in RDS Dataview I get an error , I get the error "/MyProject/.rdsTempFiles/RDS Query Viewer  does not exist". The same is happening when trying to open the RDS Query Viewer.
This works correctly in CFB 1.
Any suggestions what is going on? Is it a permissions issue or something similar? The .rdsTempFiles directory is created in the /MyProject folder and shows up in the Navigator.
    Thanks
    Doug

    Hi Kiran,
I cannot login to the Forums (the login is apparently down) so will answer what I have found.
Running CFB2 on Win 7 32bit. CFB 1 is also installed.
Tried the following: ( CFB 2 ALWAYS started with -clean option )
    1. started with no projects at all in Nav. View.
Added New Project called "test List" that was pointed to "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\testlist" folder - Query Viewer did not work
    2. deleted project from Nav View, deleted .project, .settings., settings.xml, .rdsTempFiles from testlist folder.
Added New Project called "test List2" that points to same testlist folder. Query Viewer did not work.
Renamed "test List2" to "testlist". Query Viewer did not work.
    3. Deleted project from Nav View, deleted .project, .settings, settings.xml, .rdsTempFIles from testlist folder.
Restartd CFB2. Added New project called "testlist" that points to same testlist folder. QUERY Viewer worked successfully.)))
Renamed testlist project to "Test List". Query Viewer worked.
Restarted CFB2 and repeated 1 and 2. Even re-started CFB2 after adding a new  project before trying Query Viewer. Did not work.
Uninstalled CFB2. Reinstalled CFB2. Same results as 1,2,3.
    Other interesting info.
In the Error Log when I start CFB2, I always get the following.
Unable to create a template transfer. Com.adobe.rds.core
Three more entries with No message except "No stack trace" - com.adobe.ide.coldfusion.server
This happens even after my reinstall.
    Hope this helps.

  • Query.setRange() not available on standard javax.jdo.Query interface?

Hi Kodo people, I'm trying out Kodo 3.2.0, most specifically for the
spiffy new setRange() functionality. However, I'm somewhat confused
because while the docs clearly indicate that the setRange() method is
available on the standard javax.jdo.Query interface, it's not available
on the javax.jdo.Query class that ships with Kodo 3.2.0. I have to cast
my query to a KodoQuery in order for this to work. Is this expected?
    Thanks,

I think you missed the note at the beginning of the query chapter in the docs:
Much of the functionality we discuss in this chapter is new to JDO 2. Though
Kodo supports all of the features defined in the following sections, many JDO
implementations may not. Additionally, because official JDO 2 jars are not yet
available, you will have to cast your query objects to kodo.query.KodoQuery to
access any JDO 2 APIs. The UML diagram above depicts these APIs in bold. For
simplicity, casts have been left out of the example code throughout the chapter.

  • Views not available in Discoverer Plus

    Hi Gurus,
I have created some views using Oracle 10 g Disco Admin v 9.0.4 and I am able to access them from Disco Desktop v 9.0.4
However, when I log in to Discoverer Plus, those views are not available. I am logging with the same user id that I am using for desktop. Some of the users who are on the previous version of Disco Desktop are facing the same problem. First I thought it might be a version mismatch issue, but now it is happening with Disco Plus too.
Here is the Disco Plus version details:

    Hi,
have you cheeked the STMS there showing return code - 0,4,8,15 means success or warning or red?
have you transported successfully form dev to qav?
are you seeing same query in qas?

  • Executing Query Views not populating Query Cache?

Hi,  I'm executing 3 query views in a web template.  I was expecting this to populate the cache for the query which they are based upon, but they are not?
    Can anyone verify this behavior?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
A query uses a cache entry only if it is suitable for it regarding navigational status, filters...
I recommend you to read this how to guide:
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700004339892004E/HowToOLAPCache.pdf
Have a detalied look at sections 3.4 and 3.5:
<i>Cached query results can be used only for the same query. In some cases, real subsets of
cached query result sets can be used; this is possible, if the three following requirements are
    met:
    • It is the same query ID
    • All selection criteria of the second query must be contained in those of the first call, i.e.
the query result set of the cached query is a superset of the second query
Note that the selection variable must defined as ‘changeable with query navigation’! If the
variable was not changeable, the variable value would be part of cache entry key and,
hence, the cache entry could only be used for exactly the same variable values.
    • The characteristics with differing selection criteria are included in the drill-down of the
    cached query result</i>
    Hope it helps,
    David.

  • Query views not showing changes of a query

    Hello All,
I have a base query with about 20 query views from it.  If I change something in the base query i.e. change number of decimal places on a key figure.  I would expect this change to be shown in the query views.  This is not happening.  Should this be the correct behavior?  If i create a query view again based on the the ammended query then the results are shown, but i dont want to create 20+ query views again.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

Yep that's the way it works .... sorry for you ...
Query views save the format and just refresh the data in the cells.
Which is interesting sometimes because you don't want everyone to have the same format on their views.
If you saved variants than you can recreate your 20 views quite quickly,
    Olivier

  • Design view not available with php pages

I am using Dreamweaver CS 3, If I have a page with an file extension of .php I cannot view the page in design view. If I want to use design view I have to give it an extension of .htm, do the work then rename the file with a .php extension. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Go to Edit > Preferences (or Dreamweaver > Preferences on a Mac), and select the File Types/Editors category from the list on the left. Make sure that .php is not among the list of files to open in code view.

  • Query View not displaying data according to Query

    Hi,
I have a query with current cal week vaiable set for 0CALWEEK. A Query View is created on that but everytime we have go and maually refresh the query view and save it to show the current week. Is there any setting in WAD, Queryview or the query to pick the data automatically from Query directly?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Restrict the 0CALWEEK in the query with the variable 0CWEEK which is the current week. Then, create the view and the web template will automatically takes the current week.
