Querying a Detail Master relation

Hai All,
Can anyone suggest me how to get the Find window option based on the Detail block.
Presently I am creating a view based on the required column from the Master and the detail block, creating a find window based on this view, from that I am tracking the header Id and getting the required master detail information.
Is there any othere way to directly query the detail block from the find window and get the Master Detail Relation.

If the Both the blocks are based on same table then manually create relationship
b/w them , like go_block(detail) and Execute_query with the where clause .
If default relation ship is created
using wizard then check out for the coding .
Otherwise there should not be any problem .

Creating a new row in a master detail VO relation and its consequences.

Hi,
I'm currently facing a lot of problems which make me doubt if my perception about the whole ADF entity-view object mechanism is right.
I have a page which displays data from a master detail VO relation (master offer - detail officeinfo). I also have a small dialog LOV window which makes it possible for me to select an office to match up with the current offer... Both the office LOV and the officeInfo detail use the same Office entity object.
This worked perfectly fine until I wanted to add create NEW offers. I created my own insert method which basically performs a createRow on the master VO and inserts the newly created row in this VO. On a sidenote, I also fill out some default data read from a property file, which is why I decided to implement my own insert method in the first place.
Initially, the problem was that the inputText fields of the detail VO (OfficeInfo) were not displayed at all. I imagined that I also had to perform the create and insert methods on the detail VO and indeed, from that point on all inputText fields were displayed and my page was ready for input.
Yet today, I notice that in my Office LOV which is based on the same entity as the one my detail OfficeInfo VO uses, this newly created row is ALSO visible. To me this is quite unwanted and surprising behavior. I did not expect the row already to be visible in the LOV, since basically it's just an empty row ready for input...
Am I perceiving things wrong? Or anyone has a nice solution to fix this?

Hi Douglas,
It is happening because you have created an updateable office LOV which is based on same entity object used to save your newly created records.
Use readonly LOV based on plsql query in your page and you can keep rest of the thing as it is.
I think it will solve your problem.

here is the solution,i hope this might help u.
go to the code of your button and change write the following
go_block('name of your master block');
execute_query(no_validate);
and in the object navigator make the first item in the master
block that it should be displayed in the canvas and it must be a
navigable item too.not a display item.

Reference a field from master query in detail query

Hi,
Please tell me how do I reference a field say incident_no in my master query to a detail query.
like
detail.incident_no != master.incident_no
I am joining both the queries using a link. But still I need to reference another field from the first query in my second query. I thought this was possible using formula columns or trigger's. Please help.

That worked. How come.. You know I did it several times before and all it said was, that it was going to create a new parameter field called so and so.

ADF master-detail master selection not updating detail tables properly

Hi All,
I am using JDev version : 11.1.2.0.0
I created new Fusion Web Application Module. In that module I created a master-detail data model and added them to a page fragment with a query panel. When I run it as a separate module, It works perfectly and Master selection correctly updates detail tables.
But when I integrate that module to another Fusion Application(Add application jar file to the Master Application libraries), Master-details master selection not updating detail tables properly. This problem occurred sequentially.
The problem is that.
After the page load, first selection of the Master Table works correctly and detail tables update correctly.
But second selection doesn't work, means detail table doesn't get update according to the Master table.
And again in the third selection works correctly.
This happens in a sequential manner. I monitor the behavior using Firebug. Observations are as follows,

sound to be an implementation specific issue that is hard to comment on without knowing how to reproduce it. If you have a rerooducible test case based on the Oracle HR schema using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, zip it up, rename the "zip "extension to "unzip" and sent it to the mail address you find in my OTN profile. If you don't have that test case, explain how this can be reproduced

Query a detail block

Dear members,
I use Forms 6i c/s, with a 8.1.7 database.
I have two blocks, with a master-detail relation between them.
When I try to search for records in the detail block (Enter-Query / Execute-Query), I get only one record: the one that was synchronized from the master block.
I'd like to find a way to get all the records when querying the detail block, while keeping the master-detail relation.
Any idea ?
Is it just the "Copy value from item" on the detail block side that narrows the records to just one ?
Or can I modify something in the triggers/procedures created by the relation ?

I understood your idea of a separate search block, but >one thing remains unclear: where do I populate the >results ?You still query the original M-D blocks to get results by setting the master/detail block's default-where property and execute_query on the block respectively.
You need to concate the user inputs into a string for default-where as user may input ename and sal two fields to find out how many departments and dependents info.
The separate dialog even allows user to input detail block's ename, sal and master block's loc fields to get the specific department, which default M-D cannot do this.
In addition, default search button does not allow you set one master or detail block default-where and execute-query, then go to detail or master block to set default-where and execute-query.
You do a simple testing on tables of dept and emp, then you will sense this.

RSBBS Jump Query -- Assignment Details

Hi , I went RSBBS Jump Query --> Assignment Details --> InfoObject is Company Code so I (select type "Variable") --> Field Name I tried both Info Object Name("0comp_code")and Variable of Infoobject "0comp_code" is "ZS_CC" Manual entry variable for choosing NYLP OR NYPLP So i tired putting that in Field Name --> Selection Type (E Single Value). But it did not work and reciever query still show me the both NYLP AND NYPLP COMPANY CODE. reason I think of is use of Structure Company code in Receiver query and not the same Variable ("0comp_code")ZS_CC which is used in Sender query. I cannot change the same beacuse of reconicillation issue between two report
Please let me know if I am doing any thing wrong or is there any other way to resolve this quick.

I didn't understand your question, i think you can do this way.
RSBBS Assign your Sender Query and receiver query. In Receiver query i think you have company code then create a variable and should be replacement path and specify the sender query In the next screen in the query option. Then you should be getting only those values for that company code. When u drill down. It should work, wait for others opnion.

GPO's With less than 2 parameters and less than 2 links

here is an example (put the like statement into the where field)
SELECT T0.CardCode, T0.CardName FROM OITM T0 WHERE T0.CardName Like '%%test%%'
The %% sign is a wildcard. If you need start with write 'test%%' and otherwise ends with '%%test'. For contains you need '%%test%%'. You also could combinate this statements like 'test%%abc%%'. This means starts with test and contains abc.

If you mean an Infoobject masterdata record, you need to change the IO, Mater data/text tab, check charachter is data target/Infoprovider flag an activate the IO.

Query button in Master/Detail form

Hello All,
I created a Master / detail form...looks good for a blind query and for a specific column value...
The problem is When the user selects query button ,how do I show records that the logged in user has created.
Am already storing username in the table when the user inserts new record.
Appreciate if you could send code ..if that's the choice to fix my issue..

Write the following code in 'Query' event of the 'Query' button in your form ..
p_session.set_shadow_value(p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_attribute_name => 'A_USER_ID',
p_value => portal30.wwctx_api.get_user,
p_language => PORTAL30.wwctx_api.get_nls_language);
doQuery;
Replace 'A_USER_ID' with name of your user id field . I hope you have selected this field in your form and if not select this field & hide it in the form to make this code to work.

Query mode of Master Detail Form

I have a master-detail form.
I'm passing parameters to that form to autoquery data.
Everything works fine but "Next" button in a detail block.
I'm getting:
An unexpected error occurred: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL
index table key value (WWV-16016).
After autoquery LASTIN_SET variable of DEFAULT block is set "5" (number of rows in detail block).
When I click on "Next" button LASTIN_SET variable is set to "0" instead of "5" and that causes a problem.
So, somehow LASTIN_SET is not preserved between clicks.

Say, I click on Update Push button. This will invoke a LOV that will occurs 5 times and then display the header and detail record.
Even if, I am able to get the records in the canvas, I am not able to update the records of the master. The record_status is in INSERT mode of the header block. Interestingly, if i click 2nd time on update button and then get the records after executing LOV, the query enters the query mode and I am able to update the records then.
Please suggest how to overcome the problem on a sigle click on UPDATE button.

Master/Details Form -- Relation Property

Is it possible to set the relation join condition property for a master/detail form programmatically. If so, what is the syntax?

for more detail check from the help topics. Thanks for the info but the property I want to set isn't a listed property for that built-in. I need to change the actual join statement in the relation object. This is what I'm attempting to accomplish.
I have a master-detail form with the master block containing 1 field (mfg_date)/ detail block containing order information(multiple records). This form allows me to step thru my orders by mfg_date. I need to be able to also step thru these orders by due_date if the operator chooses with a radio button. If I change the query_data_name and the the actual join statement in the relation object from the object navigator and compile and run it works fine. I can change the query_data_name programmatically but I can't find any info on changing the join statement programatically. Or is there another way to change the master block within the same form some other way?

Go_item(:detail.item) after query(F7) in master, frm-40737

Dear friends,
I have a master block and a detail block. When the master block ist queried, I want to go to a disticnt item in detail block, if there are records. Therefore I tried to put code in the post_query of the detail_block, which caused error frm-40737:

Thank you I tried it, principally it works, but there is a problem left. This is my code in key_exeqry of detail:
