Question about controlling embed quicktime object with javascript

Hello,
I am using javascript to control an embedded quicktime object on my website a la http://www.protofunc.com/2008/02/01/controlling-embedded-video-with-javascript-p art-i-quicktime/ .
The problem I am having is with the movie.Stop() command. When I hit the pause button on the generic controller, it freezes the current frame. When I call the Stop() command, the movie goes white until it is resumed. Does the pause button do anything more than call "Stop()"?
Thanks,
Nick

any luck with this? i am thinking of trying protofunc.
fyi:
i switched from SWF files to QuickTime H264, and have been trying to use the QuickTime/File/Save For Web feature on my movie promo web site.. all the movies play choppy on computers (desktops and laptops), but the technique works well on iPhones and iPads.. it is a bit unfair, IMHO, that apple can make trailers work so smooth on trailers.apple.com, but using their technology does not seem to work for "the rest of us"..
any web sites other than apple that can help?

    I would like to Upgrade my computer with SSD that I bought and install the win8 on it, in order to speed things up, but I have encountered a few problems..
    1. there is no sticker on the back of the computer that gives information about the serial number of my windows 8...
    2. lets say in some magical way I could get the serial number out, can I use it to reinstall ? because Ive heard that you cannot use this CD key anyways unless you got a special win8 installation CD key from MSI because its MSI branded windows 8.
    am I screwed    ? ?? ? I thought it is possible to upgrade with SSD but it seems like MSI made it very hard, I do not understand why they even putted the warranty void sticker on the expansion bay's .... WEIRD..

  • Questions about VK34 (create condition record with reference)

    Hi experts,
    When clicking the botton "copy condition" via VK34, an error message pops up. It says the error is due to no definition of select rule. I use the  standard condition record PR00.
    Q1: How to define "select rule"?
    Q2: Any chances to download condition record when using VK13 or VK33?

    Hello Colleague.
    This Unicode problem occurs mainly with pricing reports (recognized by report names that start with /1SDBF12L/RV14AK).
    To regenerate these, call transaction V/LE or use transaction SE38 to execute the report RV14ALLE.
    Leave the selection screen empty and execute (F8).
    See SAP note 497850.
    If you have further questions about the generation in the condition maintenance, I recommend to read Note 886771.
    I hope it can help you.

  • Question about upgrading iTunes multiple computers with shared library

    Greetings,
    I have a question about upgrading to the current version of iTunes.
    Currently, my household uses 3 Mac computers (2 Powerbook 17in laptops and a Mack Mini). We are all (currently) on system 10.4.11 (with iTunes 9.2.1). Between the 3 computers we have a shared iTunes music and video library on a networked high capacity hard drive.
    We recently purchased an iPad. In order to make it easy for updates and to use media from our iTunes shared library I decided that we should upgrade the systems on our home computers to Snow Leopard. I have ensured that all the computers have at lease 2 Gb of RAM and adequate hard drive space.
    The only possible problem I see is that one of the Powerbook laptops uses the old Motorola processor. (This is one of the last Powerbooks to use that processor.) I don’t think this computer can be upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    My question is, if I upgrade 2 of the computers (and iTunes in the process), will I still be able to access the shared iTunes library using the older computer with the older system and iTunes? Will the upgrade process change the iTunes library in such a way that the one older computer will no longer be able to properly access that library?
    Are there any other problems I might encounter having a mixed system/iTunes environment?
    Thank you,
    Tim

    Just a thought. Should I somehow open iTunes on MBP2 using MBP1's Library file??
    both Macs can access the same library file, however, only one at a time !
    to do that, you would ideally have the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) on the external. then, on one Mac after the other, launch iTunes while holding the option key, click on +choose library+ when prompted, and select the iTunes folder on the external.
    or, you could have two separate libraries and keep those in sync using third party tools such as Syncopation, TuneRanger or SuperSync.
    for purchases from the iTunes store, you could set up _*Home Sharing*_ - it can be configured to automatically transfer new purchases to home shared libraries.
    Can I create a script to have MBP1 always save the iTunes Library file on the shared hard drive?
    no need.

  • Question about managing application licenses together with netboot

    Hello
    So far I had made no experience with an MacOSX Server netboot configuration but we plan to introduce it in some weeks. Therefore we are "wondering" how management/assignment of application licenses is working in a netboot configuration. Normally in a local MacOSX configuration licenses for application are in generally assigned on the application (some are bound to a certain user name, others to the CPU ID) and is valid for all users login to the same computer. How and at which time are application licenses (for example MS Office 2004, Adobe Acrobat etc.) assigned in a netboot environment?
    Many thanks in advance for any clarification and with best regards, André Müller

    Hi Andre,
    Is this a technical or legal question Either way it is an interesting question about a major grey-area, and I wonder if anyone has the right answer.
    Boiling your question down to specifics, it could be...
    I have 15 individual Photoshop serials. I want to run Photoshop off a NetBoot image for 15 simultaneous users. Can I install one serial on the image, and allow 15 users to open Photoshop simultaneously. What if I want to install the image on 20 machines, but only 15 users will ever use Photoshop simultaneously.
    There is a technical answer and a legal answer to the question. I don't know if there is a 'right' answer since multi-user installations of titles that are technically possible under NetBoot may not be allowed legally under the user license agreement you committed to on breaking the seal on the software. And these agreements are different for different countries.
    Here's the technial answer. Sometime before OSX server 10.0, when Apple introduced netboot technology, developers were advised not to perform network scans checking for duplicate serial numbers when aps start up.
    In practice this means you can install software title on your image, activate with a serial number, and it will not conflict with the other identical versions of the same application on other images on the network.
    FileMaker Pro is the only software I am aware of that doesn't play by these rules, altthough it no longer checks when the applicaton starts, but when any FMPro network activity is started.
    Here's the leagl answer. It depends on the title and the country you are in. The legality is definded under the eulas for the titles concerned. I don't know if the leaglity has ever been tested in a court of law in any country in this context.
    The easy way to do the right thing for some titles it to purchase a multi-user serial number, ie. a single number which will work for 5 or 10, 20, 50... etc. users. Fore example, FileMaker has a volume licensing serial number which I beleieve can be purchased in increments of 10 users. However, not all titles offer this option, though, and it's difficult if you need 12 copies and have to buy 20.
    Sassafras software http://www.sassafras.com/ sells Keyserver, which may be an appropriate solution. Keyserver tracks installations and authenticates serial numbers to ensure no more than the licensed number of copies can be run at the same time.
    I don't think I've answerede your question for you but hope to have expanded the contxt of the question for other suggestions.
    Good luck,
    b.

  • Question about Dreamweaver Native Mobile Apps with PhoneGap

    I am trying to determine the best way to build an app for my business.  It doesn't need to be anything fancy, but needs a clean UI that is easy to navigate and interfaces with an online database.  The PhoneGap intergration with Dreamweaver 5.5 seems really intriguing, but before I spend the $650 to upgrade my creative suite, I had some questions.
    Doing some research, I have found multiple references to apps created in this way running slowly.  Noticable lapses on button pushes, pages loading slowly, etc.  Is this an issue and if it is, is there any way to get around it?
    Idealy, I would deploy my app to both Android and iOS devices, how smoothly does that run?  I have some basic knowledge of both Java and Objective-C, but using dreamweaver seems to be quite a timesaver.
    If anyone has any input or comments about using Dreamweaver to create native mobile apps I would love to get some feedback.  Thanks!

    PhoneGap builds mobile apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You cannot use a server-side language, such as PHP, with PhoneGap.
    Presumably, you want to connect with a MySQL database on a remote server. To do so, you would need to use Ajax to send and receive data from the MySQL database. You can use jQuery to send and receive data as JSON. PHP has JSON functions that decode and encode data as JSON strings.
    How difficult or easy you would find setting this up depends on your knowledge of jQuery and PHP. I don't know of any tutorials that show how to pull everything together for PhoneGap, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find tutorials for using jQuery Ajax to communicate with MySQL.

  • Newbie question about entity and view objects

    Hi everyone,
    My first ADF application in JDeveloper is off to a difficult start. Having come from a forms background, I know that it is necessary avoid using post-query type lookups in order to have full filtering using F11/Ctrl+F11. This means creating an CRUDable view and getting as much of the lookup data as possible into the view without losing the ability to modify the data. In JDeveloper, I do not know how to build my data model to support that. My thought was to start with a robust updateable view as my main CRUD EO and then create a VO on top of that with additional EOs or VOs. But, I have found that I cannot add VOs to another VO. However, if I link the VOs then I have a master-detail which will not work for me.
    For example, I have two joins to CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V shown in the queries below and need to have that show in the table displaying the CRUD VO’s data. It seemed that the best way to do this is to create a CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V entity object and view object. The view object would have two parameters, P_INSTANCE_ID and P_ATTRIBUTE name. Both the building and the unit are needed on the same record, and this is not a master-detail even though it might look that way. (A master-detail data control will not work for me because I need all this data to appear on the same line in the table.) So, I need help figuring out the best way to link these to the main (CRUD) view; I want as much of this data as possible to be filterable.
    select
    cieav.attribute_value
    from
    csi_inst_extend_attrib_v cieav
    where cieav.instance_id = p_instance_id
    and cieav.attribute_code = 'BUILDING NAME'
    select
    cieav.attribute_value
    from
    csi_inst_extend_attrib_v cieav
    where cieav.instance_id = p_instance_id
    and cieav.attribute_code = 'UNIT NAME'
    Ultimately, I need to display a ton of data in each record displayed in the UI table, so a ton of joins will be needed. And, I need to be able to add records using the UI table also.
    James

    Hi Alejandro,
    Sorry if I caused confusion with my first post. What I had in mind assumed that I could have a single CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V EO with a BuildingVO and UnitVO on top of it. So, I wrote the queries individually to show how I would invoke each view. When I realized that confused the issue, I rewrote the query to explain things better.
    Now having seen your 2 queries. You need to create 2 EO. One for each table. Then create an association between the 2 aeO (this will be the join you are talking about). Then, you need to create a VO based on one of the EO and after you can modify and add the second EO (in here you select the join type).
    After your done with this, youll have 1 VO that supports CRUD in both tables.
    There were three tables in the query: CIEAV_BUILDING, CIEAV_UNIT, and T -- the main CRUD table. When you say that I should create two EOs, do you mean that they are to be for CIEAV_BUILDING and CIEAV_UNIT? Or, CIEAV and T? Assuming CIEAV and T, that sounds like it would allow me to show my building or unit on the record but not both.
    By the way, everything is a reference except for the main CRUD table.
    Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your help (and patience).

  • Questions about Novation Remote 25SL integration with Logic Pro 8

    Preface: I have to apologize in advance if this seems somewhat confusing. I'm sure some of the terms I'm using are just plain wrong - I'm somewhat of a n00b.
    I have a Novation Remote 25SL configured to use AutoMap with Logic Pro 8 from Novation's website and most things are working well. It's confusing at times because sometimes I find it hard to tell what mode the keyboard is in, but that's ok - it's the least of my worries. Based on what I've seen through reading the manuals and my own experimentation, I have a couple of questions:
    - Despite what the guy at the store told me, I can't seem to figure out how to select different kits from within the SL. For example, if I have a garageband instrument selected on a track - can I use the data/select knob on the SL as it is now, or do I have to program that somewhere, somehow? Or if I have Ultrabeat on a track, can I use the knob to select the different kits/banks?
    - Is there a way to control non-Apple AU plugins like the rest of those which ship with Logic? All the sexy looking ones like Ringshifter, Compressor, Overdrive, etc. It seems odd that Remote will go into Mixer Automap mode and be able to control the certain portions of the instruments, but not the plugins that are automatically loaded into the channel strip when the instrument is loaded.
    - I have a 25 key Remote. In Ultrabeat, I find the key maps miss a chunk of notes between where the drum pads end and where the keyboard starts (or vice-verse). Is there a way to get it so each key has a mapping? 25 keys in Ultrabeat, 25 keys on the board plus 8 drum pads - seems like there's lots of room.
    Thanks in advance for all your feedback.

    Follow-up research:
    Apparently there is a driver conflict between the AlphaTrack and the ReMOTE. So far I have got the ReMOTE working - sort of - in Logic using the following method which was published at Novation's Answerbase:
    1. disconnect the alphatrack.
    2. launch Logic and then turn on the ReMOTE SL.
    3. Go into the Environment window, and add a Monitor Object. Connect it to the Remote SL's ports 2 and 3.
    So far, this seems to at least get MIDI note input into Logic, but the Automap function seems a bit sketchy so far. This will depend on Novation updating Automap and the SL's firmware for Logic 8.
    As noted previously, there doesn't seem to be any AlphaTrack support in Logic 8 yet and it's up to Apple to make it work. They do support their TranzPort product, so with luck there'll be support in the next update.
    I'd really love to use BOTH control surfaces with Logic simultaneously -- the AlphaTrack with the Mixer and plugins, the ReMOTE with Software Instruments. I suppose it might take some interesting mapping but this doesn't seem like that strange a setup -- there are plenty of "mixer surfaces" like the M-Audio one, and the Novation Automap stuff is quite popular....

  • Question about SWING and ActionEvent Object.

    When using a graphical component like a JButton,
    one typically adds an ActionListener Object to that button using the
    addActionListener method,
    in order for a click/appropriate action to execute desired Java code.
    One's desired code is within one's own ActionListener Object,
    which implements an appropriate interface and the equivalent of
    that interface's actionPerformed method.
    -How does one program one's own ActionEvent Object,
    and register that object (myActionEvent) with the java virtual machine
    such that your OWN event object is fired, instead of the

    -Does instantiating one's appropriate ActionEvent object
    "fire" it as an event?

An ActionEvent object can be simply created like any other object and by using the appropriate constructor (the API can help), but I don't think that you're talking here about ActionEven objects -- the parameter of the actionPerformed method, are you? Please give details as they are important here.
    -Does instantiating one's appropriate ActionEvent object
    "fire" it as an event?No, but again I'm stumped as to exactly what you're trying to do here.
    Finally, let's keep this discussion here, but next time, you will probably want to ask your Swing questions in the Swing forum.
    Best of luck.

  • Question about handing classes in Objective-C

    Greetings -- I'm pretty new to Objective-C. I do have a few apps out in the app store, but they were simple one-form apps where I was able to dump everything into the main class and be happy with it.
    This new project I'm working on, is huge in comparison. Over 25 views, accessible through TableView driven menus.
    I was able to get all of the menus working, each launching a separate view NIB file (so far, just a label to show me that it's done, but I got that part working.)
    Now what I'm trying to do, is add a "click" sound when a row is selected. But I'm wanting to do this in a separate class, so each .m file can instantiate it's own version of the logic instead of having the same code 29 times.
    So, this is what I've done:
    Click.h
    #import <Foundation/Foundation.h>
    #import <AudioToolbox/AudioToolbox.h>
    @interface Click : NSObject
    SystemSoundID soundID;
    -(void) playClick;
    @end
    Click.m
    #import "Click.h"
    @implementation Click
    -(id) init
    self = [super init];
    NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"click" ofType:@"wav"];
    AudioServicesCreateSystemSoundID((CFURLRef)[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path], &soundID);
    return self;
    -(void) playClick
    AudioServicesPlaySystemSound (soundID);
    @end
    RootViewController.h
    #import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
    #import "Click.h"
    @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource>
    NSArray *controllers;
    Click *clicker;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *controllers;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) Click *clicker;
    @end
    RootViewController.m
    #import "RootViewController.h"
    @implementation RootViewController
    @synthesize controllers, clicker;
    - (void)viewDidLoad
    Click *newClicker = [[Click alloc] init];
    clicker = newClicker;
    [newClicker release];
    self.title = @"Main Menu";
    - (void)dealloc {
    [controllers release];
    [clicker release];
    [super dealloc];
    #pragma mark Table View Delegate Methods
    -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
    [clicker playClick];
    I cut out the code pieces regarding the TableView that I know works, and tried showing only the parts that I've added to make the sound.
    What I've tried, is when the RootViewController is created, it has a SystemSoundID type variable defined with it named clicker. Then as part of "viewDidLoad", instantiate an instance of the class and have it automatically populate the variable "soundID". Then during "didSelectRowAtIndexPath", I want the "playClick" method of "clicker" to be run, but at this point the app seems to get caught in some sort of perma-loop, and I have to "STOP"/"Home" out of it.
    I'm hoping the problem is my rookie-status at using Objective-C objects, and the solution jumps out at you veterans, and then whatever problem I am having won't be duplicated when I create additional classes that I'd want to merge into my ViewController logic.
    Hope I've made everything clear. If anyone has questions, I'll be checking for replies
    Thanks.

    Dragon's Nest wrote:
    Is it preferred to init a copy and assign it like you did above?
    Yes, it's an accepted pattern which you'll see in most of the sample apps. Asnor's code works just as well in this case, and it might always work for you if you stick to that same pattern. However if you were working on a team and everyone else used the more common pattern it might cause a problem. For example, this code would cause a memory leak:
    @property (nonatomic, retain) Click *clicker; // interface
    self.clicker = [[Click alloc] init]; // implementation
    The above is the flip side of your original code. In this case, because we're not releasing the newly alloced object, its retain count is +2 after the setter retains it.
    There are other advantages to the accepted pattern. Suppose you weren't assigning the new object to an ivar but only using the object in that one block of code. Should you then release it? Yes. Will you remember? Well, if you're using the pattern, you'll always release it. If you always release the local pointer regardless of whether it gets retained elsewhere, you're much less likely to have a memory leak. How bout the case where you return the pointer (i.e. alloc an object and return it's address from that method)? In that case you just autorelease it. So whoever called the method needs to retain the returned object if it needs to be used after the current event cycle.
    Either way, immediate release or autorelease, you're always releasing an alloced object in the same block of code.
    Memory management can easily get out of control without following consistent patterns. Alloc->retainBySetter->release is the accepted pattern for Cocoa. Your original code meant to use the correct pattern, but you just forgot that clicker=object isn't the same as self.clicker=object because the latter retains the object. Once you've consistently used the correct pattern for awhile, you'll almost never make that mistake.
    Also, is there any difference in calling it in the following two ways:
    @property (nonatomic, retain) Click *clicker; // <-- must be considered to answer this question
    @synthesize clicker;
    [clicker playClick];
    [self.clicker playClick];
    In the above case there's no difference since the getter synthesized for that property declaration will simply return the value of the ivar (i.e. the address of the retained Clicker object). But in the general case, there certainly could be a difference. If the property was atomic, for example, the results could be different. Of course there will definitely be a difference if you wrote a custom getter that did something more than the default.
    Is there a rule or convention re when to use the getter and when to use the ivar directly? Not that I know of. I think you just need to be aware of what the getter does when deciding whether to use the dot notation. This is a point you might want to research a little more, though. Maybe someone here with more experience in Obj-C or Cocoa will comment.
    In fact a few of the experts in this forum advise against ever using dot notation. They feel it was invented to crash newbie programs. If you never use dot notation the difference between these two lines is much easier to see:
    clicker = newClicker;
    [self setClicker:newClicker];
    But once again, if you stick to the same pattern all the time, it's much harder to make a mistake.

  • Question about setting up a workstation with Aperture 2

    hello, I hope I will get some help from here.
    I guess first I should list the things I have, this will make it easier. I have a Macbook Pro with 10.5.6, a Samsung 24" monitor, Aperture 2, Photoshop CS4, CANON Pro9000 Printer, and Pantone Huey Screen calibrator.
    So I already have both my screen (macbook Pro's and Samsung's) calibrated. My question is about how to correctly set up my printer.
    I went on Canon's website and try to download the driver for the CANON printer, But I see there is 3 different version for the driver, i am not sure which one to choose. One is for 10.3.9 and above, one is for OSX CUP (which i donno what it means).
    and do I need to install any of the canon software or plug-ins? I thought the printer color profile is in the driver as well. and aperture should pick that up fine. but for max quality printing, am i better off with the canon software? if so which one should i USE? Easy Photo Printing EX or Easy Photo Printing PRO?
    last... I guess it will be nice if someone can point me the right steps to make a print after I have done everything I want to in Aperture. if you guys can give me a step by step guides for printing from Aperture 2 to Canon Pro9000 with Canon Photo Paper Pro II. and is photoshop is must have in the printing process? I really would love to stick with Aperture as much as possible. but again, quality go first...

    Joe Schorr, Apple Senior Product Manager for Aperture, covers color management in Aperture 1.5.2. He discusses the three basic areas that photographers must address in order to have consistent color throughout the workflow: Screen calibration, correct settings in the print dialog box, and adding profiles to exported images. There are some nice tips in this chat, including how to use on-screen proofing in Aperture. Derrick Story interviews Joe in this exclusive O'Reilly Media podcast. • Question about Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL

    Hello,
    I've read that:
    This course is a combination of Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals and Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units courses.
    In order to preparing for this exam, i should read the student guide, so there are 4 pdf files. One is Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals, and the other 3 are regarding to Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units (volume I, II and III). My question is, regarding to this last one (Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units), which volume should i read? I saw that volume I has 400+ pages, and the IIIrd ~80.
    Which document should i read? What's the difference between them?
    Thanks!

    Passing the exam and becoming certified are not a matter of simply reading a book or taking a training class. While books and classroom materials as well as in-class training are all important steps in preparing for an exam, experience and research are just as important. I cannot tell you that there are 53 questions on the exam and every single question maps directly back to page 13, paragraph 3 in XX book. However, If you have the classroom material, and you have the list of exam topics, you should be able to find most of the information you need. In some cases, if you are not completely familiar with a specific topic, or you don't feel like the information in the book gives you all the information you need, you may need to do a little additional research. This is all part of preparing for an exam. This process is what makes you successful as a certified professional.
    Your focus seems to be solely on the course materials that you have and what volumes and chapters you should read. I'm trying to give you a different perspective - preparing for an exam is not necessarily about taking one course or reading one book and being ready. You need to review the exam topics and be sure that you are familiar with each topic.

  • Question about heat & system fan ? with Corecenter software?

    hello guys,
                    i am having some strange experience well i just happened to clean my CPU well just external clean with cloth well then when i started i heard sound of some sort it turned out to be a plastic piece with the fan anyway i just did not do anything else well recently my CPU is very running cool i mean does System temeperature goes high will my CPU fan go high too i mean i dont' get a reading for my System fan speed in corecenter why ? can i do something about it please tell me. ? should i check the inside of my CPU well i am no expert but i am still ameteure well what do you say

    I don't think CoreCenter uses the system temperature to control fan speed.
    Is your cpu fan still working? When you say a plastic piece is broken, do you mean a fan blade? If so you should replace the fan.
