Question about java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
When I try connect to database using oci8 driver, I get this error. I try work with different driver versions 8.1.5, 8.1.7, java can't find different functions, but kind of error remain that same. Does anybody know, how fix this bug?
PS
Sorry about my ugly English.
Thanks
Max

Unsatsfied Link error means that the requiered libraries are not in the correct place. This is clearly mentioned in the documentation at : http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83724/getsta2.htm
It depends on which OS you are using so I can not tell you... you will have to read and hopefully your probelm will be solved.
By the way, I used the OCI and pure JDBC drivers on NT platform and found that pure driver gives better performance than oci driver, contrary to what many people say and it is written in the docs.
It would be nice to know your experience with OCI driver.

Question about java.lang.long
I have a very basic understanding problem:
long a = (5*24*60*60*1000);
long b = (30*24*60*60*1000);
System.out.println(a);
System.out.println(b);
results in:
[java] 432000000
[java] -1702967296
how can this be? I would expect the second one to be six times the first result, i.e. 2592000000
I would highly appreciate any hints on what my misunderstanding is based on ...In the meantime I found it: Its in the language specification, $3.10.1 Integer Literals:
An integer literal is of type long if it is suffixed with an ASCII letter L or l (ell); otherwise it is of type int (4.2.1). The suffix L is preferred, because the letter l (ell) is often hard to distinguish from the digit 1 (one). -

Preparing...Preparing...User A is printing...
Preparing...User C is printing...0
Preparing...User B is printing...
User D is printing...0
But not
User C is printing...0
User D is printing...1
?I seldom use ThreadLocal but a standard usage might be ...

Question about "java.lang.Object.equals()".
public class TestEquals {
private int a;
private int b;
public TestEquals(int a,int b) {
setA(a);
setB(b);
public int getA() {
return a;
public void setA(int a) {
this.a = a;
public int getB() {
return b;
public void setB(int b) {
this.b = b;
public static void main(String[] args) {
TestEquals te01 = new TestEquals(1,2);
TestEquals te02 = new TestEquals(1,2);
System.out.println("te01 equals to te02: " + te01.equals(te02));
te01.setA(2);
System.out.println("te01 equals to te02: " + te01.equals(te02));
}The result is:
te01 equals to te02: false
te01 equals to te02: false
Why the first case is false?You didn't override Object.equals() in your TestEquals class. So, you are calling Object.equals(), which just compares reference values. You need to write your own equals() method (presumably, make sure te01.a==te02.a and te01.b==te02.b). Depending on what you do with your objects, you would want to override Object.hashCode(), too.

Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError in Eclipse 3.2.1
Deal all,
sorry for the basic question, i met the following error when i try to use swing through swt , "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-win32-3235 in java.library.path"
and i already add "org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.2.1.v3225.jar" in "Java build path"
so how can i handle this ?
thank you in advance!I had same problem with using jdeveloper 10.1.3.1.0. I extracted the reported dll files from org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.2.1.v3235.jar and put the them in ..\jdk\bin that my jdeveloper runs and the problem got resolved

A few questions:
- What OS is Siebel running on?
- What version of the Siebel connector are you using?
- Which libdnd.so file are you using?
- What's the contents of your dnd.parms file?

I tried all possible ways with google help but still i am facing the same issue.Kindly check and suggest to solve the issue.
Thanks in advance.
Vijay.Hi all,
I give you the clear details about the issue what i am currently facing,
1. I installed the 11g (11.2.0) database alone(No EBS) in my local vmware machine.
2. Created my ORACLE_HOME under /u01/oracle/prod/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 directory after that i tried to change my home location from /u01/oracle/prod/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 location to /u01/oracle/db/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 location, like created /u01/oracle/db directory and moved files from /u01/oracle/prod location.
3. I changed my bash_profile and exported home with the modified location also deregistered an old home and registered the new home.
4. When i am issuing echo $ORACLE_HOME it is showing the current home location and ORACLE_SID is same what i created before.
5. But when i am trying to create one more db using DBCA utility it is through the above error.
Please suggest me is it possible to change the location after db creation or any extra steps i have to do for this issue.
Thanks. -
Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError - Urgent please help
Hi,
I want to thank you for looking into this problem first.
I have a very headache problem for the past week. I have an applet that uses JNI to call an existing dll to get the system resources. It works fine on windows 2000 server with IE 5.0. The dll get loaded fine and the function call is working fine.
However, now I tried to move the applet to an application for me to test with jbuilder, I have problems and I get the error java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: ooInit.
Does anyone know why this is happening in Jbuilder. I traced to see if the dll get loaded with System.loadlibrary("dll"), and it seems to load the library. But when I call the ooInit() native method, it throws that exception.
Please help. This will be greatly appreciated and I can do something for you guys in return.
Thank you so much.
Regards,
gunaHere, for the benefit of others who might search for this, is my approach to resolving this error.
Two things to note:
1. I didn't worry about paths, etc. - I was in a hurry so I just copied files into required directories.
2. I named both the Java and C files "mainFrame". I have not subsequently checked to see if this is required, since it worked for me.

System.out.println("cRoutine - should be 4: " + cRoutine(3));
private void jbInit() throws Exception {
}--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame --------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------- (portions of) WelcomeFrame --------------------------------------
package mintest;
import java.awt.*;
..... more imports, setting up of window, buttons, etc. .... iValue is an integer....
public void jToggleButton1_mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
jToggleButton1.setText("cRoutine in: " + iValue + " out: " + (iValue =
mainFrame.cRoutine(iValue)));
}--------------------------------------- end of (portions of) WelcomeFrame -----------------------------
mainFrame was compiled with Jbuilder into a class file, makeFrame.class. That was copied into
the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\bin directory, and javah was run to create the C header file:
javah -jni mainFrame
This generated:
--------------------------------------- mainFrame.h generated by javah ----------------------------------
/* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
#include <jni.h>
/* Header for class mainFrame */
#ifndef _Included_mainFrame
#define _Included_mainFrame
#ifdef __cplusplus
extern "C" {
#endif
* Class: mainFrame
* Method: cRoutine
* Signature: (I)I
JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mainFrame_cRoutine
(JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
#ifdef __cplusplus
#endif
#endif--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.h generated by javah -------------------------
OKAY, HERE COMES THE CRITICAL STEP. DESPITE THE FACT THE COMMENT SAYS DO NOT EDIT, THIS FILE HAS TO BE EDITED TO INCLUDE THE PACKAGE NAME, LIKE THIS:
--------------------------------------- modified mainFrame.h ----------------------------------
/* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
#include <jni.h>
/* Header for class mainFrame */
#ifndef _Included_mainFrame
#define _Included_mainFrame
#ifdef __cplusplus
extern "C" {
#endif
* Class: mainFrame
* Method: cRoutine
* Signature: (I)I
JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine
(JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
#ifdef __cplusplus
#endif
#endif--------------------------------------- end of modified mainFrame.h -------------------------
This file is then copied to the C:\Borland\BCC55\Include directory. The C code source is placed
in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. Here is the C code - note that it has the package name in
the function name:
--------------------------------------- mainFrame.c ----------------------------------
#include <mainFrame.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
/* must link gpib-32.obj for Windows*/
#include <windows.h> /*if using Windows */
void main(){
JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine(JNIEnv *env, jobject callingObj,jint invalue)
return (jint) invalue+1;
}--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.c -------------------------
This is now compiled on the command line (from the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory) using:
bcc32 -tWD -I\Borland\bcc55\include -L\Borland\bcc55\lib mainFrame.c
Parameters: -tWD creates Windows DLL file
-I is path to include directory (this is where mainFrame.h is located)
-L is path to library directory
Compilation produces mainFrame.dll in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. This is copied to the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\jre\bin directory so Jbuilder can find it. Then it works.
So, the key step is adding the package name after javah has generated the header file (and similarly using the package name in the .c source file.)
Hope this is useful. -
Greetings,
I'm trying to work with Oracle 9i Lite on PocketPC and I got one
exception when I try to use jdbc package (oljdbc40.jar):
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no oljdbc40 in shared library
path
Since I didn't made the dll (is an Oracle product), I can't make
much about the dll or the native class file where the call take
place.
my standard definitions are:
-PocketPC (ipaq)
-Personal Java 1.1 beta
-I have my application in a JAR-based file in "\Program
Files\App"
-Oracle Lite installation in "\ORACE";
-dll files installed by oracle in "\Windows";
-wince registry classpath for JAR/CLASS file aimed
to "\ORACE\oljdbc40.jar"
So, what should I do to run my application that uses a jdbc
package from oracle based on a dll file?
I'm hopeful to solve this and avoid my thought from using any
Microsoft Visual tool...
thanks,
Pedro SalazarHi Pedro,
Did you ever get this problem fixed? I'm seeing the same issue running Personal Java 1.1 beta for StrongARM on PocketPC 2000 with Oracle 9i Lite 5.0.2
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
Simon. -
Hi all,
I'm using jdic web browser (windows version) and customizing it for a project. I want to make an executable jar file. Since I'm using NetBeans 6.7.1, I'm getting a jar file in dist folder. Bt when I run it it does not open the jdic browser.
Then I tried java web start and make a jnlp file. When it tries to run I get the below error..

A person shared his view on "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException" but I'm not quite sure about that since the browser works nicely if I run through NetBeans. (running the project through NetBeans).
I dnt know how does this library path problem occurs
please help me..!!
thanks in advanceYeah..! it's working :)
I just copied jdic files (jdic.jar,jdic.dll, IeEmbed.exe etc) into dict/lib/ folder and now it is working. -
Ok....newbie to JNI here. I know there are quite a few posts like this here..but everyone seems to be on XP/Vista, nothing for MAC/Unix
This is my problem:
I have just created a small bit of code to test the JNI and it fails rather miserably with an unhelpful UnsatisfiedLinkError message. So onto the code and my observations:
This is my HelloJNI.java
class HelloJNI {
private native static void print();
public static void main(String[] args) {
print();
static {System.out.println ( System.getProperty( "java.library.path" ) );System.loadLibrary("HelloJNI");System.out.println("Done");}
}Compiled successfully to HelloJNI.class
This is my HelloJNI.h header file as generated by javah -jni HelloJNI
/* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
#include <jni.h>
/* Header for class HelloJNI */
#ifndef _Included_HelloJNI
#define _Included_HelloJNI
#ifdef __cplusplus
extern "C" {
#endif
* Class: HelloJNI
* Method: print
* Signature: ()V
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_HelloJNI_print
(JNIEnv *, jclass);
#ifdef __cplusplus
#endif
#endifHere is the HelloJNI.cpp file:
#include "HelloJNI.h"
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_HelloJNI_print (JNIEnv *, jclass) {
cout<<"Aye hello from JNI";
}Now I have gone about this several ways....but in general the correct way to go about compiling this seems to have been to generate a .o file and then generate a file named libHelloJNI.jnilib. For all you doubters out there, this is the CORRECT name of the file, MAC OSX expects a library with the lib prefix and the .jnilib suffix. I can prove this to you in a second...but even the official technical notes I have come across on the web have told me that I need this special name on OSX in order for java to find my library. But this command works successfully:
g++ -O3 -DNDEBUG -feliminate-unused-debug-symbols -fPIC -dynamiclib -o libHelloJNI.jnilib -I\/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Headers HelloJNI.cpp
When I next run "java HelloJNI" I get this:
.:/Library/Java/Extensions:/System/Library/Java/Extensions:/usr/lib/javaException in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /libHelloJNI.jnilib:
at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(ClassLoader.java:1822)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1739)
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:823)
at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:1030)
at HelloJNI.<clinit>(HelloJNI.java:6)HOWEVER this does NOT mean it hasn't found the file...because if I delete the libHelloJNI.jnilib from the root directory and run "java HelloJNI" I get this:
.:/Library/Java/Extensions:/System/Library/Java/Extensions:/usr/lib/javaException in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no HelloJNI in java.library.path
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1753)
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:823)
at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:1030)
at HelloJNI.<clinit>(HelloJNI.java:6)So, this is kinda proof that my library file needs to be called libHelloJNI.jnilib, as the error message seems to change when it is present. FYI yes I am running this from the root of my drive, and I also have a file called libHelloJNI.so in the same directory, which java could seem to care less about.
Any help would be great, this is a very frustrating problem.

Keep in mind that they are not using the same VM either. Nor is the VM from the same vendor.
So the rules for what is required exactly will be different.
loadLibrary() is intended to provide a generic mechanism to load a "shared library" across different platforms.
The exact naming of the shared libraries is expected to be different.
It might help, if you can't find other sources, to skip JNI and investigate how to create shared libraries
which are accessible via C/C++ code. The rules that define that will be the same as those
used by the VM. Once you understand those rules understanding what your VM needs
will be easier. -
