I have a PCI express 16x so it should fit. But I have seen this same GPU on amazon and it says its a PCI express 2.0. so my question is. Will this exact gpu fit in my PCI express 1.0 pc? Maybe here hey just forgot to inform that it is 2.0? thanks!

As long as your power supply and case airflow are sufficient, yes. PCI Express 2.0 refers to the revision of the PCI Express technology and it is backwards compatible with PCI Express 1.0. PCI Express slots are either x1 (smallest) or x4 (small) or x8/x16 (regular size), so you should be fine with your x16 slot unless there is a hardware problem. Research your motherboard and power supply before you buy.

  • MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC GeForce GTX 550 Ti physical dimensions

    Hi
I am trying to see if I can fit this card to my small box, which is Dell Inspiron 570 http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/insp560mt/en/sm/sysboard.htm#wp1181576. Physical dimensions of the board are very tight, so I need more detailed physical dimensions of MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 210x140x35 mm is not enough, is this information actually exists? Preliminary measurements shows that there is the possibility to fit this card, however the fan shroud (and fan itself) might be overlapping with mobo heatsinks.
Appreciate in advance for any info.

Thanks both of you for replies.
Presale form did not produced any good response, so I did paper 1-dimension model 1:1 scale and actually placed into PCI slot (bottom heatsink is actually rises above PCI slot about 3-4 mm, this made me worried), I liked the result and I already bought and installed this card (I took my PC to the store and tried right after the purchase, so I could return if no fir). As I was expecting card fit nicely, however Dell's craftsmanship getting worse and worse - I had to bent a few security pins at the back holder.
So, yes, this card fits perfect into Inspiron 570, fan shroud riches about half way over lower heatsink, but it has plenty of room in between, SATA ports are available. At idle this card is silent, at load don't know yet.
    Thanks.

  • Black Screen during boot Nouveau EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti [Solved]

    Hello,
First I'd like to start off by admitting that I'm a newb, so I apologize in advance if posting this was unnecessary, but I searched, and though I found many similar problems, I could not solve my problem.
As stated in the subject line, I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, and I cannot make it work with the open source Nouveau driver.
When I try to boot the screen goes black.
If I use the onboard VGA, it works perfectly fine, however, when I switch over to the onboard DVI, my monitor never even gets a signal. I have an MSI board with the Z77 chipset and an Intel I5.
I've tried installing the proprietary Nvidia driver and using that. It boots, the problem is I can't change the screen's resolution to anything other than 800 x 600 and my monitor is 1680 x 1050.
I'd be happy using either driver as long as it works correctly.
Oh yea, I'm running kernel 3.4.5 (which I believe is the latest) and the rest of my system is completely up to date, so please don't link me here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1102763
    Thanks in advance!

Okay, then onto the nvidia driver problem.
I can't set the resolution to what I want (1680 x 1050). My only option is 800 x 600 which is pretty terrible.
I've tried a few things with xrandr, but nothing worked.
Yea, I was only using tty because when I start x everything was either too large or couldn't see the command line to start x in the first place.
So how can I change my resolution (I've tried editing xorg.conf but once again, my attempt to solve my problem was fruitless).

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti And AE CS6 OpenGL?

Im going to get new computer soon and i was wondering if NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti is compatible with Adobe After Effects CS6? I would like to know if it does support OpenGL rendering with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, that would be great

I get it, but i think it's a shame that such a great tool as raytrace is supported only by few cards, and very expensive too.
I'm not a professional user of AE, i just enjoy some of my free time with it, but i was thinking of upgrading to AE6 license. Unfortunately, i discovered that it doesnt support my video card (Radeon HD6850) for GPU rendering and in this setup i can go to sleep before a frame is rendered ( Phenom II X4, 8gb ram, i know it's not that much, but 3DS max is not that computationally important).

  • MSI 870-G45 Motherboard - Can it fit two MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Cards?

MSI 870-G45 Motherboard - Can it fit two MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti Cyclone II 1GB Cards?
I'm planning to buy a MSI 870-G45 ATX AM3 Motherboard and two MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Cards, in order to run multiple monitors.
However my concern is that the cards might not fit into the motherboard.
So could someone please tell me if those two cards will fit into the motherboard?

It means that an x16 PCI-E video card will only get x4 lanes instead of x16 when used in that slot.

  • Which one should I get? Radeon HD 6770 or Geforce GTX 550 Ti ?

I've been told over the years that Nvidia has better support for Linux. But how are the (official) Linux drivers for both cards ? Right now I have a choice between Palit GTX 550 Ti and MSI HD 6770 for about the same amount of money.
While Palit offers 2 a year warranty, and MSI offers 3, I tend to go with the Radeon because I already have an onboard Geforce 7025 (for "just in case") and the official drivers are ok.
Any advice would be most welcome.

DSpider, this has been discussed a lot. Have you searched the forums? Nobody is going to be able to give you advice on exact specific models as they themselves would have had to compare them to know what works.
To get a general idea, search the forums and you will find multiple threads trying to figure out whether they should buy an ATI card or a NVidia.

  • GeForce GTX 550 on Mac Pro?

Can I use this card on a Mac Pro? I'm not sure Apple ever supported it, so I have no idea where I might get the drivers, if they even exist. Can anyone help?

Not sure about under 10.6.x, but I'm running one on my 2010 MP under 10.7.3. There are a few little quirks with it (VRAM isn't reported correctly in system profiler, and you need to pull a bit of voodoo to get OpenCL working), but yeah, if you go and grab the newest driver and CUDA driver from NVIDIA's site and load that up, you can use one of these out of the box. If you don't already have one and are looking to buy, I've heard that the 580s behave better "out of the box" but don't have one myself so can't confirm.

  • Geforce GTX 550 Ti doesn't resume from sleep mode sometimes after BIOS update

    Hi there,
I updated the BIOS of my main board Z68A GD65 (G3) yesterday to the latest version on the MSI site (E7681IMS.P80)  and I noticed that my PC doesn't always resume correctly from sleep mode now.
It seems that it works when I resume immediately, but after a nights rest the display remains black, although it looks like the PC itself is starting correctly (mouse, keyboard hdd etc)
Anyone know what this could be? Should i change a setting in the BIOS maybe?
    Marcel

I`ve updated BIOS but problem wasn`t solved.
Did someine else face with problem?
    Thanks.

  • BIOS Update for nVidia GTX 550 Ti? I have a BIOS "not for production use"

    Hi,
I bought a new computer about a month ago, and it all works well, but every now and then, the whole system freezes completely for 2-4 minutes, and then afterwards resumes where it was. This is extremely annoying, and it really could be anything, I don't have evidence that it's the video card, but I'm trying to get everything updated to the latest version.
When my computer boots up, I see this message:
    GF116 P1050 SKU 0 VGA BIOS
    MSIMV261MS.105Version 70.26.20.00.00
Engineering Release - Not for Production Use
    Build Date: 02/23/11
    Revision Date: 02/16/11
    Copyright © 1996-2011 NVIDIA Corp.
So, evidently this BIOS is wrong, and i'm trying to update it, but I can't find where to download an update.
Could you please point me in the right direction?
    Thank you

I noticed the same thing... BUT I made 2 mistakes:
Failed to make a copy of this BIOS using GPU-Z
Updated to 1.06 via MSI Update 5 (26110.rom)
Then I read the posts on this subforum and realized my mistakes.
I'm just in the initial stages of installing software on this machine, so I haven't noticed any problems.
I saved the updated BIOS via GPU-Z and compared the hashes against the 1.06 BIOS offered by MSI on their page for this card (NV261MS.106) ==> they matched  MD5: 52ECDDEFAEA86E745C09FF8A43541078
Afterburner 2.1.0 gives the following info:
    Quote
Display device       : GeForce GTX 550 Ti on GF116 GPU
    Display driver       : ForceWare 266.71
    BIOS                 : 70.26.20.00.00
    GUID                 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1244&SUBSYS_26101462&REV_A1&BUS_1&DEV_0&FN_0
My question is how badly did I mess up and what should I do now?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Gtx 550 TI oc - Overheating issues

Hello. As the title says, i have some HUGE problems with overheating. My GPU reaches 92° C in a 20° C environment while  playing crysis 3 for example. I have 3 fans in my case, one frontal and one on the side for intake and one in thr rear for exhaust. My CPU temp never passed 35° C with stock cooler.
    This is my system:

    GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti OC 1GB DDR5 192-bit
Power unit - Enermax NAXN 450W

    Any suggestion / ideea?

That is exactly what i did right now. But still @ 94°.

  • GTX 550 Noise issue

I just ordered components for a new computer and everything is working great, except for the video card.  Any time I run a graphic intensive game, nothing spectacular, the card makes some strange noises.  I'm not talking fan noises.  I'm trying to find out if this is an expected behavior.  If not, I want to be sure to send it in and get a replacement.
The video card I purchased is this:
MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Example, after connecting to a server in Lord of the rings online, the intro screens start to display and that is when my card starts making noise.  If I minimize the program, the sounds stops.
My understanding was that this card should be quiet, but this is far from it.  I have a MSI Cyclone GTX 460 in my other computer and it is great, so I expected no less from this.  Can someone tell me if this is normal or if I should return this to newegg or to MSI?

Can you test the card in your other computer to isolate the issue? As the noise can comes from the PSU or something else.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 780 SLI question.

    Hi,
I wonder if my MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming OC is compatible with the MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning LE in SLI?
    Thanks!
    BR, Tobias

as long as both cards are using the same GPU (GTX 780 GK110) and they both have the same amount of VRAM (EG: 3GB+3GB) then they will be able to be used in SLI as long as your PSU can power both of them!
you can use SLI even with different manufacturers cards so long as its the same spec (GPU) as the other and the VRAM frame buffers match each other as both need the same amount!

  • Question about MSI GTX 960 fans

    Hi,
Just received my MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2G today. I noticed that the fans sometimes spin up to ~ 600 rpm for a sec, go back to 0, spin up again ... during gaming see Afterburner screenshot.
I wonder if this is ok or if there is something wrong with the fans/fan control?

There is no vbios for a card model. There are several batches of any card model that might require different versions. If a new one is available for your card depends on the batch of card and current vbios installed. To check the card's S/N and a copy of the current vbios (saved to file, uploaded to some file hoster and the link added here) is needed.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M compatibility with Adobe CC?

It seems really odd that a late 2013 iMac wouldn't be able to run Adobe CC on it - or, at least, wouldn't be able to support Adobe CC with its Graphics card. The graphics card is GeForce GTX 775M, and I've just been told that the software can't be supported by it. Will there ever be support, or an updates that will allow this?

Which program, and have you asked for help in a specific program forum?
This forum is about the Cloud as a delivery process, not about using individual programs
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll
I do know that "will this card work" questions are common in the Premiere video editing forum, with the answer generally being "yes, if you have a driver that works"
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
