Question about recursive relationships

I have put together the tutorial from here
A way to: handle a simple self-referencing or recursive relationship
This works but not in the way I expected. Let me explain briefly.
I have an Employees ListDetail Screen. In the details of an employee, I have an autocomplete to select another employee as a teammate. I am hoping to be able to select another employee as a  teammate, and then be able to go to that teammate's properties,
and see the first employee i edited, in the teammate field as well.
Another side effect is that the ListDetails screen created for the tutorial only shows employees that have teammates, not all the employees.
I'm also hoping to accomplish this without RIA.

It is not a good choice to deal with recursive relationships without RIA, it really brings lots of troubles... :(

  • Question about the relationship between a project and Mobile Me album

    Hello esteemed members of the Aperture community
    I have a puzzling issue. I have published a project on MobileMe. My project is arranged somewhat chronologically, and I want MobileMe to follow this. However, the MobileMe album in Aperture does not synchronize with the project, and subsequently, the gallery on MobileMe does neither. How do I tell the MobileMe album in Aperture to synchronize itself with my project, and update changes as I edit the project, or am I just totally confused...always a possibility?
    Thanks in advance

    You sort of answered your own question in the title: Your Mobile Me gallery is an album. By design, changing the sort order of a project does not affect the sort order of related albums and vice versa. You'll have to make those changes in the album to have them reflected in the gallery.
    I know of no way to have an album synchronize with a project. (Note: if you make adjustments to images or delete images from a project, those changes will be reflected in the album, but the sort order will not.)

  • Some questions about configuration in MAX.

    Hello,everyone!
    I have some questions about configuration in MAX(I am a jackaroo for motion control development),I hope I can get your help.
    I use PCI-7344+UMI-7764+Servo amplifier+Servo motor,my MAX version is 4.2 and I use NI-Motion7.5
    My question as following:
    1,In Axis Configuration,for motor type,why I must select stepper but not servo?my motor is servo motor!If I select Servo,my motor can't run,I don't know why.
     If I select stepper,though motor can work but I can't test encoder in MAX.
    2,In Stepper settings,for stepper loop mode,why I must select open-loop but not close-loop?If I select close-loop,the servo motor doesn't work too.
    3,If I want my two servo motors run at different velocity,How shoud I do?It seems I just can set the same velocity in MAX for my two servo motors.
     My English is poor,Pls pardon me!I come from China.
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,Jochen,
    Thank you for your kindly help!
    The manufacturer of the drive and motor that I am using now is Japan SANYO DENKI,drive type is RS1A01AA,motor type is R2AA06020FXP00.
    And I use position control mode,thehe encoder's counts per revolution is 131072.I set the electronic gear ratio to 1:1 for drive.
    Now,I can use Close-Loop to control the motor but still has some problems.When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position.When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position.The detail situation is as following
    1,Motor can't run.
    2, Or motor moves to a position, then moves in the same direction agian and eventually stops.
    Except for the  two points mentioned above,"Following Error" is  occured frequently,I don't know why.
    I am still not clear why I must set the motor type be stepper in MAX .
    And I have another question:what the relationship between the steps and the counts?They have the proportion relations?I notice that there are a section said like this in help document: For proper closed-loop and p-command operation, steps per revolution/counts per revolution must be in the range of 1/32,767 < steps/counts < 32,767. An incorrect counts to steps ratio can result in failure to reach the target position and erroneous closed-loop stepper operation.
    I am verry sorry I have too many questions!
    I am very appreciate for your kingly help!Thanks again!

  • Basic questions about CISCO IOS

    Hi everybody, Jack here,
    I have some basic questions about the Cisco IOS, could someone help me addressing some of them please? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Basically, I have two IP addresses assigned by our Cable ISP. From what I understood you can configure a Cisco router for multiple IP addresses using the IOS, thereby allowing someone like myself to take advantage of having multiple IP addresses. This may seem unnecessary to some, but I've always wanted to put the 2nd IP address to use, since after all, I've been paying for it.
    I was just wondering if someone could confirm that what I'm hoping to accomplish is indeed within the capability of the Cisco IOS (i.e. Fully utilize my 2 IP addresses). As well, if someone could kindly suggest a decent CISCO router for online gaming home use that would be super awesome!
    Thank you all so much for reading through the wall of text:)
    Jack

    Jack
    Certainly using multiple IP addresses is in the capability of Cisco IOS routers. How they can be used depends on the relationship of the IP addresses. I am assuming that we are talking about IP addresses assigned for the user to use and that the IP address for the ISP connection is not one of these that we are talking about.
    If both of the IP addresses that you have been assigned are within the same subnet then you would assign one of the addresses to the router interface to establish IP communication between the router and the ISP and to enable Internet connectivity for the devices inside your network that will use the router as their gateway to the Internet. The other address that is assigned can be used for address translation and in particular for static address translation which would make one of your devices inside to be reachable for connections initiated from the Internet (if that is something that you might want to do).
    If the addresses that are assigned to you are in different subnets then you could assign one address to the outside router interface and assign the other address to the router inside interface. Or you could use the second address for address translation.
    I do not have much expertise with online gaming, but I would think that either the Cisco 881 router or the 890 router might be appropriate for you. If 100 Mb connection is sufficient then probably the 881 would be the one to look at. If you need Gig connection then look at the 890.

  • Where should I post a question about BusinessObjects CMC?

    I have a question about Business objects users administration in the CMC (Cental Management Console).  In which category or forum should I post this question?

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to add the dotted line relationship.
    I have gone through the post and learnt that by ading Reationship type 088 in T778V will solve my problem.
    But how do i create this relationship. I believe this is provided by ECC 6.0 version, is there some thing i need to Activate or should i create one.
    Let me know.

  • Question about insertitem in component interface

    Hi:
    I'm using component interface in my work and face a question. When I use InsertItem function in peoplecode, I'm confused about its relationship with ActiveRowCount property of Row class. I need to check the data inserted in the record, so I put logic in component fieldchange event, uses ActiveRowCount to loop in the record to check every one row .
    In the PIA, if we insert one row(by click add button) for some record, ActiveRowCount seems include the row you just insert even if you have not click save button. But when I use InsertItem and triggered a FieldChange event, ActiveRowCount in this event seems not include the new row inserted by InsertItem function. It is quite different from inserting in PIA. I'm not sure whether I uses InsertItem in a wrong way or it is just a mechanism that component interface implemented to exclude InsertItem inserted row in ActiveRowCount ? Hope someone can help me. Thanks a lot.

    That doesn't make sense to me. Regardless of whether you are going through the PIA or through a Component Interface, your ActiveRowCount should increment the same.
    Is it possible that maybe your CI code is inserting into a different RowSet than what you are doing online through the PIA?
    I don't know if this terminology helps --
    Online via PIA | Component Interface
    RowSet = Collection
    ActiveRowCount = Count
    Row = Collection
    Field = Property
    Also be sure that your FieldChange is getting triggered after you insert the row. I am not sure how you are viewing the ActiveRowcount. If it is a message, I would assume that shows up in the message collection. The message collection will just queue the messages and you can check them at the end. So, what could happen is that your field change is getting triggered first and the message gets added to the collection. Then, you could insert the row. Then, you could check messages and see the count from before the row insert yet it looks like after the row insert. You might consider printing all your messages from the collection right before the row insert and deleting any pending messages.
    If you would like to post some of your code, maybe we can help more. Hope that much helps.

  • Question about get web service result in actionscript and convert data format

    Hi, All
    I have question about how to get dataset from web services
    and put it in tree structure. I have 2 questions about this:
    1, How can I get data correctly in actionscript?
    I have no problem to get data by
    <mx:ArrayCollection id="acFolder"
    source="{mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(MyGServices.getFolder.lastResult)}"
    />
    And display in datagrid.
    But when I try to use
    public function
    handleFolderContents(event:mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent):void{
    arData=mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(event.result);
    acData=new ArrayCollection(arData);
    input.text=acData.getItemAt(0).id;
    Seems I can’t get data, it always say:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
    a null object reference.
    2, how to convert data format
    I get data from web service and want to convert it to tree
    structure, as mention below:
    I get:
    <Array>
    <id>111</id>
    <Name>Production1</Name>
    </Array>
    <Array>
    <id>222</id>
    <Name>Production2</Name>
    </Array>
    Convert to:
    <mx:XMLList id="treeData">
    <node>
    <node label="Production1" data="111">
    <node label="Production2" data="222"/>
    </node>
    </node>
    </mx:XMLList>
    Please help me.
    Thanks.

    First, don't specify the package path in the argument
    declaration. Instead import the event object:
    import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
    The docs state this emphatically.
    Second, try "lastResult", in place of "result":
    arData=mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(event.lastResult); // I am
    not positive about this. I maybe recall reading that result was ok
    for the event object, but maybe not.
    Finally, why do you want to convert the xml? You certainly
    could, but it would be a manual process, recursively reading the
    existing xml nodes and building the new structure, but again, why?
    Just use a labelFunction if necessary to display the nodes as
    you wish.

  • Round trip workflow with proxies between Premiere and AE / a more general question about how these programs work?

    Hi all,
    I'm new to editing with proxies in Premiere and have some questions about how to handle the relationship with After Effects. Say I have a rough cut (with proxies) and I want to send it to AE to do some effects. The simplest thing to do seems to be to replace the proxies with the originals in Premiere, send the project to AE and do my thing. But if I then want to send the project back to Premiere, it will involve the original files, which are too machine-intensive for me to edit. In theory, it seems like there should be a way to send the project with original footage to AE, do effects, send it back to Premiere, and then replace it with proxies to do further editing while retaining the effects.
    This leads to a confusion about how AE works. When I do an effect, am I correct in assuming that it does nothing to the original file? If that's the case, it seems like it shouldn't matter (in the editing stage) what file AE "applies" an effect to (proxy or original). But I feel like there's a hitch in this workflow. The same question could also be asked about going back and forth in Speed Grade.
    Perhaps there is no real answer to this and the best option is to save effects and grading for after I have picture lock, but sometimes that's not entirely possible or convenient, etc.
    Hopefully this makes some sense—It's a little hard to explain.
    Thanks.

  • Question about the order to creating Account, Contact, Contact Role

    Hi, my friends,
    I have some questions about the order of creating Account, Contact, Contact Role, etc in Web Service 1.0. I could create them in the following case:
    1. Insert Contact object and get contactId (now new contact exists in CRMOD)
    2. Insert Account object with Contact Role child associated with contactId
    My questions are:
    1. Do we have the following order? Insert new Account with new Contact child and Contact Role child (Contact is new and does not exist in CRMOD).
    2. Looks like system need accountId, contactId, etc to make the objects relationship. Is there other field having the same function?
    Thanks
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
    In response to your questions:
    1. Do we have the following order? Insert new Account with new Contact child and Contact Role child (Contact is new and does not exist in CRMOD).No. Both the Account and Contact must already exist. The Role value is an attribute on the Account Contact relationship, this relationship must exist in order to assign a role value to it. This is consistent with the behaviour of the UI, when you press the New button on the Contact child applet, you are taken to the Contact New page where you can create a Contact record. Once you save, the relationship is created but you cannot assign a role value unless you click the Edit Roles link next to the new Contact.
    2. Looks like system need accountId, contactId, etc to make the objects relationship. Is there other field having the same function?Correct, the system needs to know which Account/Contact pair is being assigned a role value. To do this the Account and Contact values must be uniquely identified using the Id values for each.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • A question about AdvancedDatagridColumnGroup

    Hi guys,
         Just a quick question about AdvancedDatagridColumnGroup, is the children property only allowed to have an AdvancedDatagridColumn on it?
    Because what I'm trying to do is in my recursive function I'm trying to create a nested AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup, all good until I set the ADG's groupedColumns to a certain array which is a return array of the recursive function. It throws out an exception something in the groupedValidation function of ADG.
    Here's the code that does that
    var createColumnGroup:Function = function( group:Array, xml:* ) : Array
                                  var ret:Array = new Array;
                                  var colGroup:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup = newAdvancedDataGridColumnGroup;
                                  for(var index:int = 0; index < 1; ++index){
                                        var parts:Array = String(group[index]).split(DELIMITER);
                                        if(parts.length){
                                              colGroup = new AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup;
                                              colGroup.headerText = parts[0];
                                              colGroup.children = [];
                                              var curHeader:String = parts[0];
                                              parts.splice(0,1);
                                                                                         //this is the part where I'm trying to nest the advancedDataGridColumnGroup
                                                                                         // what's to be replaced in this line to make a valid nest of ADGColumnGroup?
                                              if( parts.length > 0){
                                                    colGroup.children.push( createColumn([parts.join(DELIMITER)], xml));
                                                                                ret.push( colGroup )
                                  return ret;
    and I call it like this
    var gCols:Array = createColumn( colsArr, new XML(_xml.children()[0].toString()));
    adg.groupedColumns = gCols;
    Best Regards,

    Your problem is you have iDVD 4 or earlier. Such versions ONLY supported internal SuperDrives.

  • A question about tnsnames.ora

    I have a question about tnsnames.ora file. I have two address entries in the tnsnames.ora, one is with protocol:ipc, the other is with protocol:tcp. The log file always tells me the hostname is UNKNOWN. I changed the hostname alias into ip address, but the error stills exists. But there isn't any other error of the running of database. Because I don't need to access database from remote client, thus I think if I delete the address entry of the hostname won't interrupt the running of database. So I delete it from the tnsnames.ora file. But the error stills exists. I am not familiar with Oracle. So could anyone help me to solve the problem or give me some ideas about it? Thanks.

    Hi,
    That tnsnames.ora file is the descriptor that resolves the service name to the correct host address. That line ADDRESS is the locator for the listener on the server which then determines if a session is granted or not. You cannot forget the sqlnet.ora file either. This sets the type of connection that the client is going to be involved in: either a HOST,TNSNAMES OR
    ONAMES. You also must check to see if the listener is turned on. This is a common error. But I dont think it is in this case. Judging by the hostname error message Id say you dont have the correct host name. That can be found in the init.ora file under db_name parameter. I suggest that you do some reading on this subject in the networking documentation. It is all very well explained there. There is more to this relationship than I touched upon here.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question about an Oracle SID

    I'm a bit confused about what a SID is. I understand that it represents a Database instance. However, as I create my database for the first time, I'm asking myself if I really understand what a SID is?
    My impression of a SID is a database instance that can contain/manage serveral databases. Is that correct?
    However, I wonder if I'm being miss lead by my thinking. During the database creation process it appears that there is a one-to-one relationship between a database and a SID. Meaning that a SID and database are a unique pair and that a one-to-one relationship exist only.
    That being the case when it comes the environment variable for "Oracle_SID" does it support having multiple SID's. What is the maximum number of SID that it can support? When connecting to a database in Oracle do I have to supply both the SID and global database name to make a connection? I plan to connect to my databases using both Java and C++.
    Thanks

    Thanks for you help. However, My question is about
    the "Oracle_SID" environment variable. I fully
    understand that a SID helps identify resources to
    manage a database. However, a server/machine can
    have any number of database residing on the
    server/machine.
    The installation instructions talk about the
    environment variables for a machine with the
    "Oracle_SID being one of those variables. Based on
    what you are telling me a server/machine can have
    only 1/one database residing on it based on the fact
    that the "Oracle_SID" environment variable can only
    accomodate one/1 SID. NO. That is NOT what I said. I said - One SID will equate to One database instance.
    You can have any number of SIDs.
    BUT you set the SID as an environment variable to tell the software which instance to you wish to connect. ORACLE_SID can only be set to one value. That represents the database instance to which you are about to connect. A tool such as SQLPlus supports only one connection to one instance at a time.
    >
    Is the "Oracle_SID" environment variable important
    when it comes to connecting to a database remotely?Not really. The key is the SERVICE_NAME which is used to tell the LISTENER which SERVICE you want to use.
    By default, there is one service that has the same name as the instance's SID.
    There is a connection description file, called TNSNAMES.ORA. That file is used the same as /etc/hosts in *nix - pass in an alias and get a connection description - IP in the case of HOSTS; machine, listener port and 'instance information' in the case of TNSNAMES.ORA
    The typical connection to an instance is something like
    sqlplus hans/test@ORCL
    The ORCL is the alias to look up in the TNSNAMES.ORA (or other lookup technique - equivalent to DNS). The client looks up the 3 pieces of information, sends a request to the listener which is (hopefully) listening on the specified port on the indicated machine. It then uses the 'instance information' to ask the database instance for a thread or process.
    Oracle8 and older used ORACLE_SID as the 'instance information'
    Oracle8i and newer uses SERVICE_NAME as the 'instance information'.
    Some Newbie DBAs equate SERVICE_NAME to ORACLE_SID, because one of the services has the same name as the SID. However, one can have up to 64 SERVICES managed by a single instance.
    Some Experienced DBAs equate SERVICE_NAME to ORACLE_SID, because they have not spent time in the documentation to understand the difference between SERVICE_NAME and SID. As a result, they generally do not 'get it' when it comes to resource management or instance consolidation.
    >
    If I'm managing a database at the server and the
    server has multiple database residing on it, how do I
    define a SID for each database using the "Oracle_SID"
    environment variable?If on LINUX, using bash, you simply
    export ORACLE_SID=abc
    or use the oraenv script to set the SID and all the other environment variables based on the SID.I give a description and example below.
    >
    I'm just not clear about the relationship between the
    "Oracle_SID" environment variable and access a
    database when logged onto the database
    server/machine.Say I have 2 databases, called 'ORCL' and 'TEST', each with a user (and schema) called 'hans'. Both are down. I want them both up. Therefore I want to start 2 instances.The pattern, on Linux (it's subtly different on Windows) is
    # set the environment to start ORCL
    . oraenv
    ORCL
    # or
    export ORACLE_SID=ORCL
    export ORACLE_HOME=some-directory-path-to-the-ORCL-database's-software
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    # use the tools to start the database
    sqlplus / as sysdba   # note that I did not specify SID ... that was given above
    startup
    exit
    # at this point ORCL database, and all the schemas in the ORCL database, are available
    # from anywhere in the network, or on the local machine, I can:
    sqlplus hans/password@ORCL
    select * from dual;
    exit
    # but TEST is not up and
    sqlplus hans/password@TEST
    #  will fail with a 'database not available' type of message
    # now set up to start test.  Use oraenv OR do it manually
    export ORACLE_SID=TEST
    export ORACLE_HOME=the-path-to-the-TEST-database's-software-which-could-be-the-same
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    # and use the tools to start the database
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    startup
    exit
    # note that I did not specify SID ... that was given above and tells SQLPLUS to establish a connect to the
    # instance called TEST.  SQLPlus has special powers in the "as sysdba" mode - it can execute the
    # startup process.
    # NOW the TEST and the ORCL databases are available through the TEST and ORCL instances
    sqlplus hans/password@TEST
    select * from dual;
    connect hans/password@ORCL
    select * from dual;
    exit>
    I understand that when using the Enterprise Manager I
    have to specify the SID and database name but, does
    the environment variable "Oracle_SID" have to reflect
    a SID for each database that is present on the
    server/machine.
    The SID tells the system
    1) which shared memory segment to use - if we are on the server
    2) which instance to connect to over the network, because the SID is the same as the default SERVICE
    In Enterprise Manager Database Control, the entry point for the configuration files is a special directory under the ORACLE_HOME that consists of the machine name and the SID. The purpose of setting the ORACLE_SID in this case is to tell the database control which directory to use to find the EM configuration files for that database and instance.
    No matter which way you slice it:
    1) an Oracle SID is used to point to the configuration information for one database and it's related instance;
    2) an Oracle SID is really only meaningful on the machine where the instance is to run;
    3) an Oracle SID environment variable can only contain the value for one SID if it is to be intepreted by Oracle programs;
    4) an Oracle SID plays no significant part in establishing the connection for an appication;
    5) an Oracle SID MAY be used as input to environment-setting programs that make it easier to get the right environment for an application;
    6) an Oracle SID is NO LONGER the correct way to set up the TNSNAMES.ORA file to establish a connection.

  • Questions about Hyperprivileged layer

    I am a college student, who is interested in the OPENSPARC architecture. I have been reading the UA2005-current-draft-HP-EXT.pdf document recently, but I still puzzled about the relationship between the Hyperprivileged layer and the BIOS. When the system takes a cold reset, what does the Hyperprivileged layer do? Take SPARC 2005 for example. After one strand in the unparked mode, how to unpark the other strands? Does this have anything to do with the Hyperprivileged layer?
    Thank you!

    > I still have several questions.
    The first one is about the OBP. What is OBP? Where can I get it?
    Is it part of Solaris' codes, or any OS has its own OBP?
    OBP (Open Boot PROM) is available in open-source form, as part of the OpenSPARC T1 download -- see http://opensparc-t1.sunsource.net/download_sw.html .
    I won't pretend to be an OBP expert, but am 90% certain that OS's other than Solaris can boot on top of OBP.
    > Secondly, you said "all CMT (Chip Multi-Threading) control is purely hyperpriivileged". Did you mean
    that all CMT control, not only SUN's architecture, is purely hyperprivileged?
    First, note that Sun was the first with broad-ranging, extensible CMT control. When Sun announced the 32-thread T1, the most anyone else could muster was a dual-thread chip. No other vendor has needed to control more than 2 threads on a single die. Others are now up to 4 single-thread cores per die, and Sun is going to ship 64-thread chips soon. Pardon what may read as "Sun flag-waving" ;-) , but as the saying goes, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" -- effective, scalable control of highly-threaded processors was a necessity at Sun much earlier than elsewhere.
    There may be many philosophies about control of CMT threads. Sun decided that it should be controlled only at the hyperprivileged level -- otherwise, a guest operating system would have the privileges to shut down threads controlled by another guest OS on the same processor chip.
    ...Note that the older UltraSPARC IV and IV+ processors (which are 2-threaded) were the first multi-threaded (dual-core, in this case) processors developed at Sun. That development occurred prior to the advent of hyperprivileged mode, therefore CMT control on those processors is privileged, not hyperprivileged. Without Hypervisor, the US IV and IV+ processors can/should run the same OS (a trustworthy one!) on both threads, since either OS can corrupt the other if it's buggy or malicious (neither of which is an issue on UltraSPARC T1 with Hypervisor -- 32 different OSs could run simultaneously and no OS could corrupt another)
    > What the Hypervisor does is totally transparent to a guest operating system.
    Yes, in the same sense that what an OS does "under the hood" is transparent to a software application. An OS requests service via a Hypervisor call (trap to hyperprivileged mode), jjust application requests service via a system call (trap to privileged mode). Technically, "what" the Hypervisor does is known to the OS, but the OS has no idea "how" Hypervisor does it.
    > The OS is in charge of the process scheduling, but how it realizes is the Hypervisor's business.
    The OS has no idea about which strand is under using. The Hypervisor locates a thread to a certain strand. Is it right?
    Yes, the OS can make inqueries to Hypervisor about what resources are available for it (the OS) to manage. The Hypervisor would typically give the OS one or more threads (hardware strands or virtual processors) to manage.

  • Questions about web services

    Hi! Experts:
    I am at the Web Servivces Navigator.
    I have a basic question about it:
    We are using MI7.1 which has NO Java stack. Therefore we do NOT have the Web Services Navigator.
    How do we use the Web Services for MI7.1?
    Thanks!

    Hi!
    1) SICF lists the BSP services; Web Services are requests between java application to client application.
        Are you sure them are the same thing?
    2) When I compare the services between web service navigator and SICF, I do not see there is any
       relationship.  For example, if I search "AdapterMessageMonitoring" in SICF, I cannot find it.
    I think SICF and  web service navigator  are listing totally different services.
    Therefore my question is that since MI7.1 has NO Java stack (hence NO web service navigator ), how
    are web services handled in MI7.1?
    Thanks!

    I am an HP employee.

    My HP, purchased in June 2012, died on Saturday.  I was working in recently installed Photoshop, walked away from my computer to answer the phone and when I came back the screen was blank.  When I turned it on, I got a Windows Error Recovery message.  The computer was locked and wouldn't let me move the arrow keys up or down and hitting f8 didn't do anything.
    I'm not happy with HP.  Any suggestions?
