Question about Structures
Can anyone suggest something to take care of the following:
I have a FM that passes me the name of a structure in an output parameter 'structName'. Now I have to define a structure in my program based on the Structure name that I get from the FM
Data: newStruct type structName. (Please note that structName contains the name of the structure)
Is there a way to accomplish this?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Questions about Plan structure
Reply-To: "Duncan Kinnear" <[email protected]>
Q. if you have an Employee class with related EmployeeSubordinate and
EmployeeSalaryHistory classes, should these all be in the same plan?
A It is better to have them in the same plan.It depends on the design
you have
Q Why should the Managers be separated from their business classes?
A Managers are usually service objects which might require different
resources.
These managers when deployed might be required by several other
applications.
Seperating them as a different plan will help in just using one
installed partition to be
Used by different applications (refer about Reference Partition)
Q If you have the Database managers separate, what scope does each DB
manager cover?
A It is better to have the DB managers in user scope.
It depends on the numbers of users, u have for the system.
Since u are talking about 100 tables. It's a huge system.
It also depends on the user licenses u have for the backend.
Take care that u use proper load balancing of DB Managers for the
system.

Hi there,
We are in the middle of designing the structure of a new system.
I have read/heard that it is best to break down the plans into the
following categories:
Business Classes
Managers/Services
Clients
I have a few questions about this structure:
Should related business classes be grouped together in Plans? E.g. if
you have an Employee class with related EmployeeSubordinate and
EmployeeSalaryHistory classes, should these all be in the same plan?
Why should the Managers be separated from their business classes?
E.g. if there is an EmployeeMgr service which deals with anything to do
with the Employee business class, why separate them in different
plans? If you need the manager to access the class, you will always
need both.
Some of the Forte documentation talks about "Policy" managers and
"Database" managers. How do the functions of these managers differ
for a simple CRUD (Create Read Update Delete) class?
If you have the Database managers separate, what scope does each
DB manager cover? I.e. do you have one for the entire database (over
100 tables in our case), or do you break it down by sub-system?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Basic questions about NWDI structure
Hello All,
I have read some materials about the Java development process within SAP J2EE engine.
Here I just want to confirm with you some knowledge points and ask some questions about the configuration of NWDI before proceeding Java development.
1. There are four systems within SAP Java landscape, the first one is the developer's own PC, on which there should be installed SAP Workplace (actually is a small J2EE engine and the NW developer studio), am I understanding right?
2. Where should the DTR CBS CMS and SLD be installed? on the Consolidation Server? or the TEST Server? or the Production server? or totally on another standalone server?
3. Within one Track (four system), how many DTR server, CBS Server and SLD server should be installed? Does it only need one for each?(All the four system connect to the same DTR/CBS/SLD server?)
4. Can DTR Server, CBS Server and SLD Server be installed on the same host? or should they be installed on separate hosts?
Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards,
NickThe introduction of this demo contains a nice overview of the system landscape with NWDI, which should answer most of your questions:

LDAPMAP: questions about mapping
Hi All.
We want to implement an interface between our SAP ECC6 and Microsoft Active-Directory.
I have some questions about the mapping done in LDAPMAP t-code:
1.
What the meaning of the structure and fieldname (e.g. structure-USERNAME; field-BAPINAME)?
They cannot be found anywhere in the DB or in SE36.
2.
How do I create new pairs (e.g. PA0008-TRFGR)?
3.
How do I communicate with these structure-fields, i.e. fill data to them?
Any help will be appreciated.
Ayal Telem.Hi Ayal,
Do you got any clue on this.? It will be great help if you provide me some inputs on this. I'm facing similiar kind of requirement.
Thanks a lot. -
Question about navigation in session scope
Hi.
I dont know how to resolve a problem or how to focus this stuff.
I'll try to explain myself.
Let say I have a page (a.jsf) with several links, all this links navigates to the same page (b.jsf) which shows the results.
For each link in a.jsf I have attached a bean with a logic, so If I click in link 1 I go to the b.jsf showing data read from the database.table1. If I clik in link2 I go to b.jsf showing data read from database.table2, and so on...
The beans are in session scope (and must be).
The first time works ok because I initialize the bean in b.jsf, read data and I show using a selecManyListBox to show it, but if I go back and select another link it goes to b.jsf, but it shows the old data, the data read the first time, because it never calls again the init method.
Somebody has talked about using an additional bean to control this but once the bean in b.jsf is created I don't know how to call again the init method in beanB (b.jsf)..
I have attached a very simple project to deploy in eclipse 3.3 and tomcat 6.0. In this example instead of read from database I read from an structure created in memory to simulate this.
Somebody could take a look and comment something about it.
http://rapidshare.com/files/197755305/_session-forms.war
ThanksHi.
I understand is the same doing in the action method in a button or a commnad, the project is just an example, my real app is a tree, so is not a question about a button or a command, is about the logic being in session scope. I don't know how to face it.
thanks -
Question about inserting Sysdate (SQL)
Hi all,
I got a question about records insert when one of the fields is sysdate.
I have to store several records representing a log, generated by the execution of a database package.
Inside my package I wrote an internal procedure devoted to insert a record in my log table for each processing step I wanted to trace (I call this proc each time I want to record a certain step of my package).
My log table structure is: PREC_LOGS(log_date DATE, log_message VARCHAR2(1000)), no constraints at all.
Database ver. 8.1.7.1.0 - Production for VMS O.S.
The 'problem' occurs when several records have the same sysdate (DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS). In this case, if I select log_date,log_message ... order by log_date, the list of records I get respects the sort condition, but when several records have the same sysdate (DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS), it doesn't respect the order of the steps theoretically inserted by the internal proc.

Please ask for more detail if someone is interested in replying...I realize it's not a very clear explanation of my issue.
Thanks, MarcoHi
Add a field to the table that is that uses a sequence
PREC_LOGS(log_id NUMBER(30),log_date DATE, log_message VARCHAR2(1000))
Create a database sequence
The insert statement now becomes something like
INSERT INTO PREC_LOCS(log_id, log_date, log_message)
VALUES (sequence_name.NEXTVAL, SYSDATE, 'Some message');
Then order by the log_id when you do your select.

Another BW question about filter in the query definition
Hi ,
I have another question about filter in the query definition.
<u>Question:</u>
Which of the following objects can be filtered in the query definition?
A. characteristic
B. Key figure
C. Structure
D. Units
E. Hierarchy
My answer is A,B,D,E.
The answer in the book is A,B,D
Can anybody tell me which one is wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Liu JiaHI
1.The answer could be A,B,D.you can not apply filters on hierarchies
2.Whenever there is a change in Attribute data(like Location,Num etc...)that has to be reflected in all aggregates of the cube.Thsi can be done by running "ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN".

A question about foreign key to multiple tables
Hello everybody,
I have a question about creating foreign key and I would appreciate if you could kindly give me a hand. Here are my tables:
CREATE TABLE TEAM1(team_id VARCHAR2(20), project_id VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE TEAM1 ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEAM1 PRIMARY KEY(team_id);
CREATE TABLE TEAM2(team_id VARCHAR2(20), project_id VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE TEAM2 ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEAM2 PRIMARY KEY(team_id);although the structure of both the tables is exactly the same, the values (in particular team_id) in both tables are different.
Also I have another table named AGENT
CREATE TABLE AGENT(agent_id VARCHAR2(20), team_id VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE AGENT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_AGENT PRIMARY KEY(agent_id)Now the problem is that the column team_id in AGENT table is actually a foreign key, but the value can be in either TEAM1 or TEAM2. As far as I know a foreign key points only to one table.
How can I deal with this problem? Whenever there is an INSERT or UPDATE I have to make sure that the value of the column "team_id" in the table "AGENT" is a valid value either in "TEAM1" or "TEAM2"
Thanks in advance,
Kind Regards,
DariyooshDo you have the ability to change the data model? If so a more appropriate structure may be something like this:
CREATE TABLE TEAM(team_id VARCHAR2(20), team_name VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE TEAM ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEAM PRIMARY KEY(team_id);
ALTER TABLE TEAM ADD CONSTRAINT UK_TEAM UNIQUE (team_name);
CREATE TABLE TEAM_PROJECT(team_id VARCHAR2(20), project_id VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE TEAM ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEAM_PROJECT PRIMARY KEY(team_id, project_id);
ALTER TABLE AGENT ADD CONSTRAINT FK_TEAM_PROJECT1 FOREIGN KEY (team_id) REFERENCES TEAM(team_id);
CREATE TABLE AGENT(agent_id VARCHAR2(20), team_id VARCHAR2(20));
ALTER TABLE AGENT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_AGENT PRIMARY KEY(agent_id);
ALTER TABLE AGENT ADD CONSTRAINT FK_TEAM FOREIGN KEY (team_id) REFERENCES TEAM(team_id);Edited by: Centinul on Jun 25, 2010 10:50 AM -
Question about get web service result in actionscript and convert data format
Hi, All
I have question about how to get dataset from web services
and put it in tree structure. I have 2 questions about this:
1, How can I get data correctly in actionscript?
I have no problem to get data by
<mx:ArrayCollection id="acFolder"
source="{mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(MyGServices.getFolder.lastResult)}"
/>
And display in datagrid.
But when I try to use
public function
handleFolderContents(event:mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent):void{
arData=mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(event.result);
acData=new ArrayCollection(arData);
input.text=acData.getItemAt(0).id;
Seems I can’t get data, it always say:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
a null object reference.
2, how to convert data format
I get data from web service and want to convert it to tree
structure, as mention below:
I get:
<Array>
<id>111</id>
<Name>Production1</Name>
</Array>
<Array>
<id>222</id>
<Name>Production2</Name>
</Array>
Convert to:
<mx:XMLList id="treeData">
<node>
<node label="Production1" data="111">
<node label="Production2" data="222"/>
</node>
</node>
</mx:XMLList>
Please help me.
Thanks.First, don't specify the package path in the argument
declaration. Instead import the event object:
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
The docs state this emphatically.
Second, try "lastResult", in place of "result":
arData=mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(event.lastResult); // I am
not positive about this. I maybe recall reading that result was ok
for the event object, but maybe not.
Finally, why do you want to convert the xml? You certainly
could, but it would be a manual process, recursively reading the
existing xml nodes and building the new structure, but again, why?
Just use a labelFunction if necessary to display the nodes as
you wish.

Two weird questions about BP maintenance......SOS!!!
The procedure is like this:
These informtion will be import to SAP:
BP information
Address Information of this bp.
Communication information of this BP
1. check if the bp exist, if yes, update the BP.Then go to 3.if no go to 2
2. Create a bp with the Address information and communication information
3. Check if the Address information has been existed,if yes go to 4.else go to 5
4.Update the address information with the communication information.
5.Create a new address for this BP.
And the problem I got is like this:
1. After I changed the BP information, such as the surname,lastname etc.Use this BAPI
"BAPI_BUPA_CENTRAL_CHANGE",I commited it.Then I call the BAPI "BAPI_BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE" to change the Address of this BP,however
When I call the BAPI_BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE,it always told me the BP is locked by myself.............
I am sure I do not open the BP in the other window.And I commit it after I call the BP Change BAPI.
2. When I change the communication information ,it always told me BAPIADTEL you want to update does not exist in this system.....I am sure it does.
Who can help me??
Thanks very muchHi,
1) Problem with the lock. To commit the changes after the BAPI_BUPA_CENTRAL_CHANGE API, instead of using commit work to commit, Use BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT. This should solve the problem. This wil help in clearng the buffers of BP.
2) in the BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE, for telephone there are two parameters to be filled IT_ADTEL, IT_ADTEL_X
IT_ADTEL : Should be filled with the telephone details etc (Consnumber should not be filled for inserts. This should be filled only for updates).
Corresponding IT_ADTEL_X structure has to be filled with update flag as 'I', 'U' or 'D' based on the task.
Hope this helps. Let me know if some more info is needed.

Sudheer. -
Hi, all,
I have a question about the comments:
Program function comments should be included on the block diagram or Front panel, or both. Thanks.Many good things have already been mentioned.
For the Front panel, there should be a clear distinction between toplevel VIs (or any subVIs where the user must interact with the front panel), and subVIs where the front panel is only of interest to the programmer. The needs here are quite different:
User Interface VIs
The front panel should be clear and easy to use. All "help" elements, tip strips, etc are geared towards the end user. The icon is irrelevant, because it is typically not even shown. Everything of interest to code maintenance should be on the diagram.
subVIs
Here, the front panel can contain a description of what the subVI does, who created it, company and copyright information, version information, limitations (e.g. input A must be >0), URLs or literature references to the algorithm, etc. (Have a look at any of the openG tools!). The "VI properties...documentation" section should be populated. The icon should be descriptive. All controls and indicators should have intuitive names (not just "Numeric 4", or "Array" )
Comments specific to certain areas of the code should be placed where they apply, especially if the code uses some exotic algorithm that would make the code hard to interpret.
Use a programming style that is self-documenting. (e.g. Don't unbundle the error cluster check for "equal zero" to switch a case statement. Wire the error cluster directly to the case so you'll get a red/green error case structure. Much more obvious!)
If these are proprietary VIs with password protected diagrams You should split the comments: Anything of interest to the non-privileged user goes on the front panel, anything else on the diagram.
In the end, it does not really matters where you place the comments as long as they are easy to find later and still make sense to somebody else 10 years from now. Message Edited by altenbach on 05-30-2005 01:13 PM

CFC's - Question about coding guidelines
I have a question about the following section in the
CF
Coding guidelines
quote:
{cfmxroot}
---wwwroot/ » web-accessible .cfm pages and .cfc Web
Services
---extensions/
--------components/ » tree for .cfc files
--------customtags/ » tree for .cfm custom tags
--------includes/ » tree for include files
---config/ » tree for configuration files
This implies that we have two Custom Tag Paths set up in the
CFMX Administrator:
{cfmxroot}/extensions/components/
{cfmxroot}/extensions/customtags/
We also have mappings for the root of the includes tree (for
cfinclude) and the custom tags tree (for cfimport):
/cfinclude » {cfmxroot}/extensions/includes/
/customtags » {cfmxroot}/extensions/customtags/
1. Why would you want to add both a custom tag path
AND a mapping for " {cfmxroot}/extensions/customtags/"?
2. The guidelines seems to imply you should use a custom tag
path for components, instead of a mapping. If the "components"
directory is already outside the webroot, then adding a CF mapping
shouldn't make it web accessible, right? So is there any benefit to
using a custom tag path versus a mapping?It is up to you where you put your components and where you
put your custom tags. The standard way, as I know it, at least, is
to create a mapping for your cfc directory on the
Mappings page of the Coldfusion Administrator and to
register the path to your custom tag directory on the
Extensions/Custom Tag Paths page. In answer to your first
question, you will also need to create a mapping for a custom tag
directory if you intend to call tags using the template-attribute
of cfmodule.
Coldfusion considers the directory-path that you register on
the
Extensions/Custom Tag Paths page an absolute path. That is
what enables you to call a tag directly by name on any page of your
application, for example,
<cf_myCustomTag>.
One consequence is, if you stored a component myComp.cfc in
such a directory, you could instantiate it on any page simply by
running
<cfset myObj = createobject("component","myComp")>
However, this doesn't offer anything a mapping wouldn't. So,
in answer to the second question, I don't think one should use a
custom tag path for components. Mixing one's custom tags with one's
components only produces an oil-plus-water structure. -
Question about the partition index
Hi, all, I have some questions about partitioned index.
And I get from oracle documents that oracle's partition index can be clarified as local partition index and global partition index.
And local partition index can be clarified as prefix local partition index and non-prefix local partition index. And I also the word "global prefix partition index".
But, I can not get what the exact meaning after I consulted many documents and notes from website.
Can anyone give me one example to cover these topic?
You help is very thankful!
Thanks and best regards!Hi,
Local index search by partition.
Local Indexes: A local index is an index on a partitioned table which is partitioned in the exact same manner as the underlying partitioned table. Each partition of a local index corresponds to one and only one partition of the underlying table.
Global Partitioned Indexes: A global partitioned index is an index on a partitioned or non-partitioned table which is partitioned using a different partitioning-key from the table. Global-partitioned indexes can only be partitioned using range partitioning. For example, a table could be range-partitioned by month and have twelve partitions, while an index on that table could be range-partitioned using a different partitioning key and have a different number of partitions.
Global Non-Partitioned Indexes: A global non-partitioned index is essentially identical to an index on a non-partitioned table. The index structure is not partitioned.
