Question: ACE FT Track Interface

Hi all,
I have two ACE appliances installed with HA configuration. I have 5 vlans (Vlan1, Vlan2, Vlan3, Vlan4 and Vlan5) come from 1 trunk interface. I have 1 ADMIN context and 1 PRODUCTION context. I have configured FT Interface, FT Group and FT Peer in ADMIN context only. I have allocate Vlan1 in ADMIN Context only and assign VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5 for PRODUCTION context. The L3 Interface of VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5 are all configured in PRODUCTION context.
My question is how can I track the interface for VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5? Should I configure FT Track Interface in ADMIN context or configure FT Track Interface in PRODUCTION context so that any VLAN interface down will trigger the failover.
Appreciate who can help me on this question. Thanks

The FT group can't be configured in a non-Admin context.
switch/User2(config)# ft gr?
% invalid command
All FT groups MUST be configued in Admin and allocated in Admin to a context.
ft group 112
peer 1
peer priority 90
associate-context User2
inservice
switch/Admin#
The only FT commands inside a context are :
switch/User2(config)# ft ?
auto-sync Enable auto sync
track Configure Fault Tolerance tracking for switchover
switch/User2(config)# ft
And, yes, if tracking configured in a context will reduce priority to its associated group configured in Admin.

  • ACE to track user interface

    Hello,
    Just a few questions on a HA lab to track the user interface. If i configure the primary ACE in the admin-context like this:
    ft interface vlan 402    ---->>> FT VLAN
      ip address <primary_ip>
      peer ip address <secondary_ip>
      no shutdown
    ft peer 1
      heartbeat interval 300
      heartbeat count 10
      ft-interface vlan 402
    ft group 4     --->> group associated to user-context Juniper
       peer 1
       priority 200     --->>> primary is 200 and secondary is 100
       associate-context Juniper
       inservice
    and in the user-context of the primary ACE:
    ft track interface vlan202   ---->>> VLAN 202 is where VIPs are configured in the Juniper user-context
      track-interface vlan 202
    peer track-interface vlan 202
      priority 110
    peer priority 100
    1.- the command "peer-track interface" is useful in case the primary ACE and secondary ACE are not connected on vlan 202 via the same single switch? i guess without this command the secondary wouldnt track the user interface 202.
    2.- Do i need to specify "peer priority 100" in  the user context for the secondary ACE? Is it used to set the priority of the secondary once the primary becomes standby? Default is 100 for secondary so i think its not useful.
    3.- Can i configure preempt delay in ACE?
    Thanks,
    Giulio.

    Hi Giulio
    Could you please check 'ft group 4' configuration on your standby ACE?
    Probably, you configure 'priority 105' on standby too. If so, please change configuration
    from 'priority 105' to 'peer priority 105' on standby ACE.
    # active admin context
    ft group 4
      peer 1
      priority 105
      associate-context Juniper
      inservice
    # standby admin context
    ft group 4
      peer 1
      peer priority 105  <<==
      associate-context Juniper
      inservice
    I checked your configuration and found you configured ft group for Juniper context only.
    This means Admin context is not sync'ed. (I was misled into thinking that your admin
    context is also sync'ed.)
    If ft group for admin context is configured, you configure 'priority 105' on active admin context
    only since 'priority 105' configuration is automatically converted to 'peer priority 105' and set
    to standby ACE.
    However, if ft group for admin context is not configured, your should configure both active and
    standby ACE manually. Furthermore, you have to convert them by hand.
    Since admin context of my ACE appliance is synced as below, I only configured 'ft group 4'
    on active ACE. (Standby ACE was automatically set 'peer priority 105'.)
    This behavior is same with module and appliance.
    # my ace appliance configuration
    ACE4710a/Admin# sh run ft | b group
    Generating configuration....
    ft group 1
      peer 1
      priority 105

    ft group 4
      peer 1

  • ACE ft track-host method

    Hello,
      does anyone know, how the ace performs ft track-host probes? How does it test, ICMP, arp, whatever? How often tests, what are the failure detection conditions?
    For example in the following situation:
    ft track host GW
      track-host 10.1.201.14
      priority 60
    ft group 1
      peer 1
      peer priority 50
      associate-context Admin
      inservice
    When we shut down the ACE 4710 uplink interface on the swtich, where it could reach the gw (10.1.210.14), no failover happens.
    (I know that I can define own health probes, but I become curious about track-host command, while there are no definitions in the documentation about it's testing method)
    Regards:
    jonagy

    Hello Jonagy,
    I'm not sure if I fully understand your question, but let me see.
    When configuring your ACE for Host tracking, you would first configure one or more probes to be applied to the Host Tracking configuration.  Notice that Step 4 of the Configuring Tracking and Failure Detection for a Host or Gateway is not shown as Optional.  You can configure the probes with the type and  interval that best suites your environment.
    ft track host TRACK_GATEWAY
      track-host 192.161.100.1
      probe GATEWAY_TRACK1 priority 10
      probe GATEWAY_TRACK2 priority 20
      priority 50
    Hope this helps,

  • What is a good multi track interface to use w/ GB

    I use garageband quite frequently and now I want to multitrack. I have always used a tascam 8 track but I am finally making the switch to full computer. My first goal is to record a 3 peice band I am in. So I was thinking a 8 track interface that uses USB possibly. I have a white 09 macbook but I will be upgrading soon if that makes a difference. Also another question which I am wondering is should I even try a different program? Or is GB all I need? I am in Kiel Germany.
    Thanks!
    -c

    Does your macbook have Firewire? If it does then I would suggest you go with a FW interface. The choice of interface depnds on how you decide to record your band, ie one member at a time or all simultaniously. Check out the PreSonus line of gear as one option. I use the FireStudio Mobile without a hitch in GB.
    The choice of computer depends on what road blocks you encounter. Depending on your budget, there are RAM and HD upgrades avaliable that you can DIY including SSD. http://www.macsales.com/ The other thing you may find with your macbook is screen real estate or lack thereof.
    GB is a very capable program, however, there are some workflow issues that may not suit you. The beauty of GB is that it is not bloated. I think you will find initially setting up your recording environment and collecting gear to be more of an issue that which program to use.

  • ACE redundancy tracking and failure detection

    Hello,
    I have configured redundancy on a pair of ACEs, and looking now for the most approriate method of failure detection.
    In the admin guide, 3 possible methodes are explained: host tracking, interface tracking and HSRP group tracking.
    I don't have HSRP configured on the Supervisors in the ACEs chassis, the default gateway is on other chassis, so HSRP tracking is not an option.
    The ACEs are configured in routed mode.
    I have 1 VLAN with all VIPs, and 4 server VLANs.
    There are 2 contexts active.
    I was thinking of tracking all 5 VLAN interfaces + tracking the default gateway on client side.
    Would this be a good approach?
    thanks in advance for your input.

    Hi ,
    The ACE supports a maximum of 4,093 VLANs per system and a maximum of 1,024 shared VLANs per system.
    Alos note that the ACE supports a maximum of 8,192 interfaces per system that include VLANs, shared VLANs, and BVI interfaces.
    Regards,
    Sachin

  • ACE - FT tracking

    Existng setup:
    SW-Dist1 SW-Dist2
    | |
    SW1 SW2
    ACE 1 --- ACE2
    Active
    C1
    C2
    C3
    where C1-3 are contexts, all contexts are active in ACE1.
    These ACE are modules in 6504 switches.
    SW1 and SW2 respectively.
    SW1 and SW2 are trunked to Distribution Switches via port channels.
    Requirement is to implement failover by tracking uplink port-channel availability.
    How to achieve this? Any help is much appreciated.

    With ACE you have 3 tracking options
    you can track host (an ip), track an Interface and an HSRP group.
    Tracking interface option is applicable for VLAN interfaces only. It cannot track port channel/ physical interface.
    In your case the best option would be to track HSRP group configured on the uplink devices.

  • Questions for I/O interface experts

    I have few questions for I/O interface experts:
    I have a Power Mac G5 2.3 Ghz 8GB of RAM, PCI-X slots, and am running Final Cut Studio FC version 6. I currenly have an HD project on my timeline (uploaded directly form a P2 card via 400FW), and I'd like to be able to output on a HD VTR deck as wellas a BetacamSP deck:
    1) which AjA Kona cards (3, LHe, LH) is right for me?
    2) did you personally experience, or are you aware of any issues with this Kona card and Final Cut version 6? Any tips before I purchase?
    3) will this card allow me to output uncompressed HD, that is, the same quality I uploaded?
    4) in which of the slots on my back tower does it go? 64bit 100MHz or 64bit 133MHz?
    Cheers,
    Rinaldo

    I think FireWire is probably the best route.
    The main difference between the two seem to be that the 1814 has more inputs and the ADAT interface, the 410 has more outputs.
    So are you planning on recording, then go for the 1814.
    If you envision that 2 mics and 2 inputs is enough for your recording needs and you eventually want to mix surround you'd need the 410 as it is the one with enough outputs.
    If you want specific advice about interfaces I suggest you ask in the Logic forums as those users would be most experienced with this aspect of an audio system.

  • Using ACE's XML interface

    Hello,
    I'm encountering troubles with ACE's XML interface:
    -trying to perform a "show running config" I did the following via curl
    curl "http://www:[password]@[ACE_IP_ADRESS]/bin/xml_agent" -k  -d "xml_cmd=<request_xml context-name=\"Admin\"><show_running-config/></request_xml>"
    But ACE replies that the context name is invalid!! And when I do the same thing without specifying a context name it works and display the running config for Admin context!
    The problem is that I need to do this show command in other contexts. I think specifying a context name is similar to executing a "changeto" command from the CLI so I have to do it...
    Thank you for helping

    Hello guys,
    I'm trying to accomplish something different, but it fits the topic.
    I want to get the show resource allocation command output via XML interface.
    Here's the xml_cmd that I tried:
    xml_cmd=
    But I'm getting the following error:
    command - not supported by xml interface
    What is the correct xml_cmd I should send to ACE to get the output of show resource allocation?

  • Two Mics using Audio Buddy and Fast Track Interface

    Hey,
    the problem i am having is that i am trying to have both mics being used to record at the same time. both are plugged into the AudioBuddy pre-amp, which is plugged into the fast track interface, which is connected to the computer. in logic, i have two different audio tracks opened, one with input one, and the other with input two, but i can only get pick-up from one mic. suggestions?

    Are you getting signal at the Audio Buddy (green leds both light up)?
    On the Fast Track interface, I see only ONE mic input and ONE 1/4" input. In their website, I see that it is a SWITCHABLE INPUT.
    http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackUSB.html
    " switchable instrument/line input (1/4”) "
    This means you can only record ONE input at a time, not both at the same time.
    You will need a larger interface in order to record two or more signals at once.

  • HSRP track interface (ASR9k v4.2.3)

    Hi all,
    I was trying to configure the track interface command within hsrp, and when I apply the command the priority group decrement immediately.
    Before of apply the configuration:
    RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:PE1-ASR9010-LAB-MACUL#sh hsrp bvi 600

    BV600            1 110 P Active  local           200.10.10.3    200.10.10.1
    Then, I apply track interface:

  • A few questions about the FCE interface

    I'm new at FCE, but I've done video editing for a few years in Windows (Vegas Movie Studio mostly, it was pretty good but limited in the number of video and audio tracks). I've finally made the jump to Mac and I'm excited getting started. The ability to do keyframes and motion is outstanding and I can't wait to play with LiveType and Soundtrack.
    There's a few things I'm not sure I understand about the FCE interface. I'm working on my first project and it's going to me mostly made up of short (4-10 second) video clips and still photos (with pan and zoom and some motion) and background music. I've done several of these in the past in other software, this project is my learning one for FCE.
    However, I can't understand why some things happen they way they do. If I drag a clip or still from the bin to somewhere in the middle of my existing sequence where there are no items on the video track, it 'parts the seas', moving all video on all tracks to the right and cuts my audio track wide open leaving a huge gap to make room for the clip or still even if it has no audio. The same thing happens in reverse if I'm deleting a still or clip, it chops it out and scoots everything over. I think I want to manage my own gaps rather than FCE trying to manage it for me. Does this have something to do with ripple editing - something that I must not have learned in my Windows video editing experience?
    I've ordered a few tutorial books based on recommendations in this forum, they're on their way. I didn't expect to be immediately proficient, but it seems I'm not understanding something fundamental about the interface.
    There's other questions too, like when I move a video clip from one track to another (up or down, not left or right), why does it move the audio portion of that clip to another audio track? Sometimes it stomps on something I already had on that track. Can't I unlink those somehow?
    When I bring two clips or stills together and attempt to overlap them (which I think should mean I'm doing some type of transition), it seems to just truncate one or the other. I suppose I just need to get used to that?
    Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
    iMac 20" intel   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    You need to get comfortable with targeting your tracks and, as mentioned, locking off tracks you don't want to affect.
    You say you want to add a clip/still to the "middle" of a sequence ... I take it there are clips to either side of this spot that you don't want to affect. Then I would set In and Out (I and O) points in the timeline to define the space you want the clip to occupy. If you don't want audio to carry over, then lock off whatever audio tracks you have edited. Then do an Overwrite by either dragging the clip to the far right of the screen to get the Overwrite pop up or by using the F10 key.
    The Delete key to the right of your keyboard (sometimes under the help key) does a ripple delete. The Delete key under the number keys (sometimes a backspace key) removes a highlighted portion of video without rippling the timeline.
    If you lay in a new clip with audio and don't want to affect an existing track, target a separate set .. so if you have a clip on V1 with its audio on A1/A2 and you want to overwrite the video but add new audio, target V1 and A3/A4.
    As to overlapping clips .. if you want to use transitions, overwrite your first clip. Overwrite the second right up against it .. don't try to overlap. Now select your transition and drop it down between the two clips. NOTE: FCE needs handles ... like about a spare 15 frames of info on both clips
    I strongly reccomend Tom Wolsky's book on FCE. It has tutorials and is a great way to start. I've never used Vegas but FCE is a very deep program ... it takes time, practise and patience (and you online manual is a great resource too)

  • Question about section tracking .

    Hi everyone,
    I've been searching for a while both in this forum and the Web about this matter, but I wasn't able to find an answer... So sorry if this question has already been solved.
    I am developing a JSP/Servlet web site (that will be the home of an investigation project) and I need to keep track of the Section of the site where the user is.
    For example, at the moment whe are at Developers Home > Developer Forums > Java Forums > Enterprise & Distributed Computing > Web Applications > JavaServer Pages (JSP) and JSTL >
    I can't figure out how to do this using JSP/Beans/Listeners... Could you please suggest me a way of doing it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dominguez Illobre

    It is very hard via a web interface to keep constant track of a user.
    They can use the back button to "get out of synch" or even just type a new URL into the address bar directly.
    There isn't a generic solution as far as I am aware.
    Probably the easiest way is to have an application level map, that for each user stores the "section" of the last request that they made.
    Would that suffice? Probably you could do it with a servlet filter, so it would run on every single request.
    What is it you are trying to accomplish?

  • A question about class and interface? please help me!

    the following is program:
    interface A{
    public class B implements A{
    public static void main(String [] args){
    A a = new B();
    System.out.println(a.toString());
    }i want to ask a question, the method toString() is not belong to interface A, why a can call method toString()? the interface call the method that isn't belong to, why? please help me...

    because a.toString() call the method toString() of class Object because B implements A, but extends Object and in the class Object there is a method toString(). infact if you override the method toString() in class B, a.toString() call toString() in class B.
    try this:
    interface A {}
    public class B implements A
      public String toString()
        return "B";
      public static void main(String [] args)
        A a = new B();

  • Some questions on CRM web interface

    Hi
    I am new to CRM and I have few questions listed below:
    1. Are all the CRM services accessible via the IC ?
    2. If there is a scenario where some services needs to be available via the web, then is it a must I should use the IC?
    3. Does the CRM business package in Portal include all the services that are in SAP CRM or are they specific to certain services?
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
    Yes the portal should provide access to all the CRM functionality with the exception of ISA/mobile.  In those cases ISA(Internet Sales) can be integrated to the portal, but is a java-based application.  The mobile application is designed with its own UI for mobile client access.
    Almost all CRM web applications are BSP based with the exception of:
    - Internet Sales
    - IPC product configurator
    - Mobile Sales
    If you have a business scenario in CRM that you are trying to provide through a web interface, I can tell you what a "typical" setup might be.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Newbie question on using an Interface

    I am something of an advanced beginner, one of those guys who can write simple stuff and maintain code but always have a bunch of questions.
    I am able to use an interface in a simple example shown below:
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class ClassTest
    public static void main(String args[])
    new ClassTest();
    ClassTest()
    IfcPrintClass dao=null;
    try{ dao = (IfcPrintClass)Class.forName("ThatPrintClass").newInstance();
    }catch (Exception e) {};
    System.out.println(dao.PrintTheClass());
    try{ dao = (IfcPrintClass)Class.forName("ThisPrintClass").newInstance();
    }catch (Exception e) {};
    System.out.println(dao.PrintTheClass());
    } //end ClassTest
    What I am wondering is how do I instantiate (hope that's the right terminology) a class via an interface when the class has parameters? The API and other examples, at least ones I've seen, don't spell this out.
    I have to maintain a piece of code (ie, I didn't write it) with a class defined below. We need to create an interface for this class to implement so we can re-use this and similarly named classes for other projects. For example, the below listed class is to handle our SQL I/O, but naturally the db handling will varying from project to project. I want to be able to dynamically load a class within my code and pass the class name and directory into the package via ARGS (again, hope I'm using terminology correctly). I am trying to figure out how to adapt my above example to the below class instantiation, but cannot figure out how to pass the parameter along with it. I do know how to create an interface. In the below example "errorModule" is another class that handles our error and information logging, but is abstract enough that it will not change project to project. The "insertLoader" method is a sample method that the DAOLoader class will do, as is "isConnected".
    dao = new DAOLoader(errorModule);
    if(dao == null || !dao.isConnected()) //connection failed
    // handle this error
    else
    dbAlreadyFailed = false;
    if(firstDatabaseConnection)
    dao.insertLoader();
    thanks in advance, and hope you can help.

    As requested, here is the code I posted using code tags,and I'll do this in the future:
    ClassTest.java:
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class ClassTest
    public static void main(String args[])
    new ClassTest();
    ClassTest()
    IfcPrintClass dao=null;
    try{ dao = (IfcPrintClass)Class.forName("ThatPrintClass").newInstance();
    }catch (Exception e) {};
    System.out.println(dao.PrintTheClass());
    try{ dao = (IfcPrintClass)Class.forName("ThisPrintClass").newInstance();
    }catch (Exception e) {};
    System.out.println(dao.PrintTheClass());
    } //end ClassTestMy actual code:
    dao = new DAOLoader(errorModule);
    if(dao == null || !dao.isConnected()) //connection failed
    // handle this error
    else
    dbAlreadyFailed = false;
    if(firstDatabaseConnection)
    dao.insertLoader();
    }IfcPrintClass.java:
    public interface IfcPrintClass
    String PrintTheClass();
    }ThatPrintClass.java:
    public class ThatPrintClass implements IfcPrintClass
    public String PrintTheClass()
    return "That";
    }Then I have a class ThisPrintClass:
    public class ThisPrintClass implements IfcPrintClass
    public String PrintTheClass()
    return "This";
    }
