ACE to track user interface

Hello,
Just a few questions on a HA lab to track the user interface. If i configure the primary ACE in the admin-context like this:
ft interface vlan 402    ---->>> FT VLAN
  ip address <primary_ip>
  peer ip address <secondary_ip>
  no shutdown
ft peer 1
  heartbeat interval 300
  heartbeat count 10
  ft-interface vlan 402
ft group 4     --->> group associated to user-context Juniper
   peer 1
priority 200     --->>> primary is 200 and secondary is 100
   associate-context Juniper
   inservice
and in the user-context of the primary ACE:
ft track interface vlan202   ---->>> VLAN 202 is where VIPs are configured in the Juniper user-context
  track-interface vlan 202
peer track-interface vlan 202
  priority 110
peer priority 100
1.- the command "peer-track interface" is useful in case the primary ACE and secondary ACE are not connected on vlan 202 via the same single switch? i guess without this command the secondary wouldnt track the user interface 202.
2.- Do i need to specify "peer priority 100" in  the user context for the secondary ACE? Is it used to set the priority of the secondary once the primary becomes standby? Default is 100 for secondary so i think its not useful.
3.- Can i configure preempt delay in ACE?
Thanks,
Giulio.

Hi Giulio
Could you please check 'ft group 4' configuration on your standby ACE?
Probably, you configure 'priority 105' on standby too. If so, please change configuration
from 'priority 105' to 'peer priority 105' on standby ACE.
# active admin context
ft group 4
  peer 1
  priority 105
  associate-context Juniper
  inservice
# standby admin context
ft group 4
  peer 1
  peer priority 105  <<==
  associate-context Juniper
  inservice
I checked your configuration and found you configured ft group for Juniper context only.
This means Admin context is not sync'ed. (I was misled into thinking that your admin
context is also sync'ed.)
If ft group for admin context is configured, you configure 'priority 105' on active admin context
only since 'priority 105' configuration is automatically converted to 'peer priority 105' and set
to standby ACE.
However, if ft group for admin context is not configured, your should configure both active and
standby ACE manually. Furthermore, you have to convert them by hand.
Since admin context of my ACE appliance is synced as below, I only configured 'ft group 4'
on active ACE. (Standby ACE was automatically set 'peer priority 105'.)
This behavior is same with module and appliance.
# my ace appliance configuration
ACE4710a/Admin# sh run ft | b group
Generating configuration....
ft group 1
  peer 1

  • User Interface bug when renaming tracks in list views

When renaming tracks in the list views, there is a user interface bug that makes it impossible to see what you're doing.  When you select a track in the list view, this is what it looks like:
Note how the text is white on the darker blue background.  When you click again, to open the inline text editor to rename, this is what you get:
The background color of the text editor is white, just like the text, so when you type, you can't see what you're typing, nor can you see where in the original text your text insertion cursor is located.
    Thanks!
    Steve.

I'm frustrated with this same problem. In my case this happens only in my 10.5 macbook air and not in my 10.4 macbook pro. I've been renaming files in the same way in 10.2/10.3 and this never happened. Should be a bug. I've been searching for this issue and found this post at last - I really wonder why there aren't so many people mentioning this.

  • Question: ACE FT Track Interface

    Hi all,
I have two ACE appliances installed with HA configuration. I have 5 vlans (Vlan1, Vlan2, Vlan3, Vlan4 and Vlan5) come from 1 trunk interface. I have 1 ADMIN context and 1 PRODUCTION context. I have configured FT Interface, FT Group and FT Peer in ADMIN context only. I have allocate Vlan1 in ADMIN Context only and assign VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5 for PRODUCTION context. The L3 Interface of VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5 are all configured in PRODUCTION context.
My question is how can I track the interface for VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4 and VLAN5? Should I configure FT Track Interface in ADMIN context or configure FT Track Interface in PRODUCTION context so that any VLAN interface down will trigger the failover.
Appreciate who can help me on this question. Thanks

The FT group can't be configured in a non-Admin context.
    switch/User2(config)# ft gr?
    % invalid command
All FT groups MUST be configued in Admin and allocated in Admin to a context.
    ft group 112
    peer 1
    peer priority 90
    associate-context User2
    inservice
    switch/Admin#
The only FT commands inside a context are :
    switch/User2(config)# ft ?
    auto-sync Enable auto sync
track Configure Fault Tolerance tracking for switchover
    switch/User2(config)# ft
And, yes, if tracking configured in a context will reduce priority to its associated group configured in Admin.

  • Issue in the user interface of ICSS application

    Hi Experts,
Please find the below description of the issue.
Ours is a migration project of ICSS application from one landscape to another landscape. Both the landscapes are in CRM 7.0 with the same patch levels.
For this migration we have copied the existing track A to the new track B and mapped to the new CRM 7.0 B system.
The XCM setting has maintained in the new B system exactly the same way like the A system
All the related backend code like FMs, Data Dictionary objects etc in CRM 7.0 A system has been moved to the CRM 7.0 B System.
After this when we tried to run the application B, we are not seeing the same user interface like in application A.
We are seeing only black font with white background. The color combination, fonts, styles etc like in application A are not visible in application B.
There are no CSS files in the XCM settings in A system. So I have also not maintained in B system.
We have not done any changes in the track. So we have not deployed the application.
I have created the projects for both the tracks A and B and compared the code manually. Everything is same.
      Question:
Please let me know what needs to be done additionally to get the same user interface.
Is Shopadmin settings has to be maintained. Is this mandatory.
       Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raghu

    Hello Waldemar,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments. I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to your support request. We have been on holiday for the past few days due to Thanksgiving.
From the information you have provided here, it sounds like you are on the right track with getting your application up and running with a chinese font interface. I would like to point out an extremely helpful KnowledgeBase that you might use for reference now and any other time you need to localize your user interface:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/5987FCAFE3FBE8B98625693B0052EBD9?OpenDocument
(This KB was written for LabVIEW 6.0, but is still relevant for LabVIEW 7.0.) Based on this document, you only need "an MBCS-enabled operating s
ystem with an IME for the corresponding language." All 32-bit Windows operating systems are MBCS-enabled. Please see these links from the Microsoft website for more information:
    http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?View=msdn&st=a&qu=mbcs&c=4&s=2
You may also find this tutorial describing localization procedures useful:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/2d17d611efb58b22862567a9006ffe76/6d94f90fc9b93aad862568a7007cd4c0?OpenDocument
I would recommend that you go ahead and install the Chinese fonts to your OS (if you have not already), and develop your user interface using the new font. This application should have no problem on any other machine with the Chinese font enabled.
I hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with or clarify. Have a great day!

  • The new ribbon user interface in Win 8.1 should display appropriate buttons depending on the currently displayed folder within the explorer.exe window.

To begin with, in file-explorer (.\system32\explorer.exe) normally, the new ribbon user interface in Win 8.1 does indeed display appropriate buttons depending on the currently displayed folder within the explorer.exe window.
But when one re-parents the explorer window handle to any window handle other than 0000 (desktop's window handle), then the UIRibbon fails to do so.
You might ask 'Who does that ?' and I would say no-one usually, however I use BrightExplorer which
is a great little app that  gives me a tabbed file-explorer experience.
Now, this app works fine since Windows 7, but with Windows 8 the file explorer introduced the new UIRibbon in its UI. It's that new UIRibbon that gets confused by what I think may be be caused by the re-parenting that BrightExplorer does
to pull a file explorer session into its tabbed control.
This phenomenon relates to Windows 8 + and is observed only by doing the following steps:
Download BrightExplorer from BrightNewWorlds.com by going here: BrightExplorer,
In the address bar go to This PC,
then go to any other folder and note that the UIRibbon is not keeping track of the changing folder selections.
Does anyone out there feel that they can do something about this, or have advise?
    Kind regards,

  • Track user changes in customized transparent table

    Greetings..
How do i to track user changes in my table ? is there any master table that keep track changes made by user on the specific field.? Is there possible if the table have the original and changed data.

  • Demo of Adobe Presenter User Interface?

Before we go and spend the time to create our own in Captivate, does any have, or know where I can find, a demo of/tutorial for the Adobe Presenter user interface? We'd like to have our learners go through the demo/tutorial before they use an Adobe presentation for the first time, so that they'll know how to use the slide controls and the tabs in the user interface (and, thus, be able to control their viewing experience better, like being able to use the slide controls to pause the presentation if they want to spend more time on a slide or use the tabs to skip slides or search for specific information).
    TIA for any info!
    Laura

That's closer to what I'm looking for (although with some actually descriptions/explanations and covering all three tabs, just the main navigation/slide controls, and no need to highlight/explain anything within the slides themselves). But you're definitely on the right track, in terms of it being a demo/tutorial for the end-user, not the developer.
Thanks for taking the time to respond!

  • SSM 7.0 - SSM User Interface user access and utilization

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to obtain the SMM User Interface access and utilization of the users?
I mean User Interface access statistics like:
    - Number of loggins per day, week, month.
    - Last loggin
    - Tab used
    - Minutes log inn
Thank you very much in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Santiago

    Santiago,
Strategy Management does not track that kind of usage of the system. Any tracking like that might be something that NetWeaver CE could do, but that would be a question for the NetWeaver CE Forum as I couldn't provide guidance on how to set it up.

  • Why oh why was it fixed when it wasn't broken..the user interface

This is a serious error on Apples part to alter the way this critical program operates
its like taking away critical controls from an automobile...like the steering wheel
Its that bad its at the level like Microsoft would have done.
It may operate with all the same features...but where are they...not on the iTunes desktop
where one could surf iTunes to look at, get, explore
big mistake & an even bigger one not to listen to customers...
    Bruce L. Farrar

    Steve
Sorry I just cant see how you can compare iTunes 10.7 &  iTunes 11 - yuo are in the minority  !!
Everyone I speak to has the same view on this:
That 11 hasnt the same user interface & controlability. For me this is fundamental in the way I used iTunes to "surf" what was available from what I already had.I find the way I have to go through things in a list poor to unusable. OK Apple may want to have the same interface accrooss the whole product platform - but why the capability of a Mac with a omplete keyboard & larger screen allows for more possibilities than say an iPhone which I reackong any user will realise & accept...basically the iTunes on mac platform has been dumbed down & is now far less capable
The search "engine" that hasnt got fields to select to narrow down or focus a search is just riduculous & it doesnt work that well as whats comes back has to be searched through again.
Using iTunes 10.7 & before was an "adventure" into music or material you knew & you found things you didnt know about & to do this was easy & enjoyable. Ifound previosly I could find a single track out there quickly & also explore.
Whats happened is fundamentally bad - lets give a comparison - say if the whole user interface of the MacOS or write was altered, made significantly different...everyday tasks that you could do before had to be re learnt or just couldnt be done.
Even Microsoft are carefull about making changes to the way things work & the way that a user interfaces with this...one carefull step at a time OK Microsoft "things" have to recieve this type of carefull scrutiny & adjustment - but Microsoft onthe whole take thier customers with them. Learning point that Apple have yet to realise & learn from
Previous to this from Lion to Mountain Lion there was Frontrow a simple little program that gave a feature that me for one used (& enjoyed) regularly.....on the Mac doing something important...take a break, relax & enjoy some music...one press of the remote & you had all you music & videos there to be used...like a big iPod...really ver good. Finished relaxing or taking a break get back to work just where you left off, an impressive feature that was taken awy & replaced with NOTHING.
So for me at least the usability & functionallity of the Apple experience has deteriorated...for no appreciable gain....for just a commonality of controls accross the products.
Its called "change for changes sake" & in this case the customers werent consulted they were totally ignored in being left with something that is retrograde.
The very fact that I am here with others making comment is proof postive that the situation is a definate backwards step. I just hope that for Apple its a "blip" i.e. an error that will realised & corrected...
I have been using Apple products from 1989...I am not a Microsoft refugeee or reluctant convert who is throwing mud..just the opposite in my family we have:
    4 Macbook Pros,
    an iMac,
    4 iPods,
    4 iPhones
    Apple TV
all backed up ona time capsule.
We have lived through the bad times & good...I realise that Steve Jobs cant come back...but I am sure he would have listed & then gone back to the teams & forced the change backs through.

  • User Interface frozen

    Hello,
We are using labVIEW for implementing receprocating motion of a motor controlled stage for a user defined cycle number. We have a few different built-in subVIs(provided by the company). There is one subVI that "Run Command" which basically takes a message input as some pre-defined commands as a string as an input for moving a certain distance in one direction. When we used this subVI to implement the reciprocating motion. But now we want to keep track of the current cycle number that is running and for that we implemented a while loop which uses the Get Position subVI and whenever the position is within 10% of the one end of the track it adds one to the current half cycle number variable and then waits for a certain time(which is estmated to be time for one half cycle i,e amplitude/small x velocity) and then again start checking if it's within 10% of the other end of the track and adds 1 accordingly. The whole process is implemented under the event loop in the case named as "Take measurement".
Now the problem is when the stage starts moveing the user interface gets frozen and we cant access the pause or stop  or terminate buttons.
Anyone has any idea why it does so?Or any possible suggetsions.Any help will be appreciated.
(Note:Iwas trying producer/consumer loop but it seems I dont see any data to be put in the queue and to be consumed, probably because it is not very suitable.)

Your code suffers from a severe case of localitis and squenceitis. It is written like text based code, with frames used as lines and local variabel used as locals. This is not that great to begin with. (see also)
    Still, here's your main problem:
All you events are set to lock the front panel until the event completes, and it seems that some of your event cases have a hard time completing in a reasonable time (some contain e.g. while loops, etc.).
You need to decouple the background operations and the UI, e.g. with a queued state machine architecture or similar.

  • ACE - FT tracking

    Existng setup:

    | |
    SW1 SW2
    ACE 1 --- ACE2
    Active
    C1
    C2
    C3
where C1-3 are contexts, all contexts are active in ACE1.
These ACE are modules in 6504 switches.
    SW1 and SW2 respectively.
SW1 and SW2 are trunked to Distribution Switches via port channels.
Requirement is to implement failover by tracking uplink port-channel availability.
How to achieve this? Any help is much appreciated.

With ACE you have 3 tracking options
you can track host (an ip), track an Interface and an HSRP group.
Tracking interface option is applicable for VLAN interfaces only. It cannot track port channel/ physical interface.
In your case the best option would be to track HSRP group configured on the uplink devices.

  • User interface documentation

I am looking for some user documentation for iTunes (Mac) that is more comprehensive than the Apple tutorials.  In particular, the user interface isn't always intuitive, and I keep coming across things that take a while to figure out.
For example, I am trying to put the movements of a classical work in order in the main window so that they will play in the right order; in spite of numbering the tracks in the Info window, it still doesn't happen, and I can't find a way to do this.
    A previous discussion
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/7234401#7234401
(now archived) gave a reference to an article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93078
    which is now not available.
Does anybody know of anything current which could help?
    Thanks.

I find the iTunes Help accessed from the iTunes > Help menu to be really useful.  You can browse the contents, or use the search bar at the top right to go right to what you want.  For example, I searched for Edit song and CD information and found this:
To edit song or CD information:
Select the song or CD you want to edit, and choose File > Get Info (or press Command-I).
Click Info and make your changes.
Tip:  If you’re changing the same information for multiple items (genre, for example), you can select all the items and change the information for all of them at the same time
Here are other ways to customize song and CD info:
You can edit information in the Info window to make it easier to find and sort items in your library. For example, you can:
Group individual movements on a classical CD into one work by indicating the movement (for example, “Piano concerto in A Minor, Op. 54”) in the Grouping field.
Group songs that are part of a compilation together in your library by clicking the Info button and selecting the “Part of a compilation” checkbox.
Identify the individual artists on a tribute album in the Artist field, and type “various” in the Album Artist field.
Create your own genre category by choosing Custom from the Genre pop-up menu.
Change the order in which tracks on a CD play by changing the numbers in the Track Number fields.
Try it. You'll find a lot of good tips.

    Kevin,
Are you only looking for a Graphic Designer or do you have
other openings that could be filled by a Flex person with a J2EE

  • 3rd gen User Interface

[This is a slightly toned down and otherwise amended version of a review I posted elsewhere earlier today.]
The new iPod was my first specialised MP3 player purchase, last night. Considering the allegedly superior User Interface design of Mac products, I’m not really that impressed.
Most of the music I listen to is classical, and the whole MP3 industry needs to sort out some fundamental naming problems for classical tracks. For a 2CD-box containing one Mahler symphony, I have two “Albums”, one for “GustavMahler; Symphonie No. 2; Abbado, Chicago SO”, the other for “Mah; Sym 2; Abbado, Chicago SO”.
First requirement: a relational database with a single ID for each composer, work, conductor, orchestra, etc. etc. Preferably with each work categorised as Symphony, String Quartet, Opera, etc. and the ability to have a number and/or name for each - so that “Manfred Symphony”, “Symphony No. 6″, and “Symphony No. 6 (’Pathetique’)” are all possible. Major benefit: only one person has to know how to spell “Shostakovich”. Ideally, each language gets its own versions of names for both people and works. I can amend the album titles in iTunes, but I have to do so once for each track (why, I have no idea - all tracks started with the same album title - what sort of lunatic would want to set different album titles per track?). Later loading up of a 4-disk boxed set of Beethoven quartets and a 2-CD of Verdi's Otello produced similar stupid title differences.
Second requirement: recognition of CDs 1 and 2 (and up...) as part of the same 'album'. I’m really looking forward to putting the Ring cycle on there.
Third requirement: a Work/Disc/track hierarchy, that deals with more than one work on the same CD and more than one CD for the same work. Then we can stop having those idiotic track titles like “Strauss (R), 4 Last Songs, Op. posth. - Im Abendrot” where everything except the song title is the same on 4 different tracks and there isn’t enough screen width to see the parts that are different. Oh, and then the addition of “Work” to the categories like “Album”, “Playlist” and so on.
The same kind of tripe is served up in Windows Media Player, but as I had to download a whole new 50 Mb app just to put CD tracks onto my iPod, Apple seem to have had the opportunity to do that “right thing” that you’re supposed to be experts at. Guys, you missed it!
Back in the user interface of the player itself, if I’m playing an album in that old fashioned “track 1, then track 2, then track 3″ way, I sometimes wonder what track’s coming up next. Finding out means MENU click, move down to Music, and select it, move to and select Albums. Now find the album that’s currently playing (for which you have to remember what it’s called - there’s nothing else to tell you which album is currently playing). Select it, find the little icon that shows which track is playing, and then read the line below. Then repeat most of this tedious operation backwards to return to where you were. Back in the stone age, you just picked up the record sleeve and looked. Even worse, someone at Apple decided to use a huge chunk of screen space for the album cover pic that I don’t bother downloading. “Next track: Ruhe, Meine Seele” - that’s all we need. Far more useful than a pic of a couple of quavers/eighth-notes.
The there's the joyous discovery that having not spotted the opportunity at some point in initial set-up, I'm stuck with that boring name "Owner's iPod" for the rest of the products life.

I apologise for that. Your conviction sounded so strong I thought it a shame to try to correct you.
To be a bit more helpful, you can select multiple tracks and set their album (along with various other properties) all at once. In the same way, you can set the "disc number" for the tracks so that multiple discs are seen as part of the same album.
You can also rename the iPod as you please (though I can't remember exactly how - try right-clicking/Cmd-clicking on the iPod's name), so you're not stuck with that silly name forever.

  • How can I display step info in User Interface with Tracing Disabled?

I'm trying to modify the CVI Operator Interface application to update the execute panel with some step information during the execution of the program. i.e. I want to display the measurement, high & low limits during the run WHEN TRACING IS DISABLED. (Doing this, when tracing is enabled is easy, all you do is access the step record that's been constructed (I can cope with that!))
I've successfully implemented a User defined execution event to signal the User Interface application when the current step is a result (using TS_UIMsg_UserMessageBase etc. I'm posting a UI Message in the Process Model under the ProcessModelPostStep so that I will only display if its a result step.) I've added a user defined
entry in the execute.c module execution event switch statement which will call a function in the exedisp.c module to update the display. However, I don't have a context to the step that I can use. (I can't use e.g. the exeRec record since this is only completed with the context if tracing is enabled.) I've got a handle to the correct panel to write the information to, but how do I get the context to the current step when tracing is disabled?
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi,
no problem - btw, if you wanted to acheive this in TS 1.x, you could always write to a local variable with the ActiveX reference for the step concerned, and then use the msg reference that you have in the OI within the UI Message handler, to dig through to the Execution ->Sequence File->Sequence->Locals, or Execution->Thread->SequenceContext (and you can get almost anywhere from that).
    Hope that helps
