Question from today's event on adobe connect

HI
I was bumped off todays event by my own mistake and did not get to hear the answers to my questions. If someone can answer them here, it would be great!
The speaker advised to use Q&A vs chat if you have a large audience. Please define in numbers a large audience. My webinars for elearning will be a host and an instructor. I am new to webinars.
The speaker talked about resolution of the screen of the person sharing the screen. He also talked about teh resolution of the graphics inside your PPT. Please help me with guidelines on these 2 issues.
Thanks!
Susan

I would use the Q&A pod any time you are dealing with a group that is larger than what you can handle dealing with real time questions in the chat pod. For some this may be 3, others may be 20, but there is no defined number where you should use one vs. the other. Just identify which is better for you in a given situation and use that. For smaller interactive sessions, I use the Chat pod. For sessions where I am going to lecture and then deal with questions, I use the Q&A pod. It isn't necessarily about number of attendees for me.
As to the graphics size in your PPT deck. Just use graphics that fit on the slide. Inserting an image that is 2-4 times the size of you slide and then scaling it down doesn't change the file size of the image, so you are left with a huge addition to your slide deck, all for a small image. So you can use the image optimization function in PPT (I don't recall what it is called), or use another photo editing tool to resize your images prior to inserting in PPT.

  • Unable to Duplicate Events in Adobe Connect

Every time I try to duplicate an event I get:
    Request Not Processed
The system was unable to process your request.
This happened last month. I would hate to have to enter everything again as this function has worked the last 6 months.

This could be related to some permission issue with the associated content of the event.
Please check whether the content associated with the event is shared or private.
For duplicating a shared event (which has a private content associated), a user can duplicate such an event only when user has permission over the associated private content.

  • Does Articulate Quizmaker display questions when published to Adobe Connect?

This may have (probably has) already been discussed in the forum, but after searching, I simply can't find it.
When publishing quizzes from other products like Adobe Presenter, Captivate, etc. into Adobe Connect Pro 7, the questions DO display when running reports. However, when I publish quizzes from Articulate Quizmaker, the questions DO NOT display.
After searching the LMS Support area (http://www.articulate.com/support/quizmaker09/kb/?cat=3), it looks like only the question ID will be published into Adobe Connect. However, that is incredibly difficult to quickly glance to understand information in Adobe Connect reports because, as much as I would like to think I am a genius, I just can't memorize what question ID's go with what question.
If this is a limitation, has anyone found a workaround or do we know if future versions of Adobe Connect or Quizmaker will offer any solutions to this?
I have attached a Word document that displays the difference for a visual.  Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer. Still love you all, either way!

    Hi there
Unless things have changed, I believe that the Right-Click ability relies on JavaScript. I suppose it's possible that Connect doesn't present things by handing off all the files involved and it is somehow wrapping the Captivate within its own wrapper and thereby ignoring the JavaScript Captivate creates that makes the magic happen.
Hopefully Lilybiri, Rod, Eric or another will come along and either confirm or refute my belief,
    Cheers... Rick

  • Screensharing and communication features of Adobe Connect

I am exploring the use of Adobe Connect for training purposes. The trainings are focused on training people (of max 10 participants per training) in the use of software tools (both web and mobile devices). After reading through the product features I have the following questions:
    Screensharing
I see that the Adobe Connect tool supports screensharing. I was wondering whether that includes the possibility for the trainer to go in to participants' screens to see how/what they are doing (which buttons they are clicking, etc). I am assuming that it is possible to show anything via screensharing? (e.g. can we go online and show stuff there?)
    Communication/chat feature
Does the tool offer a communication possibility? Is it possible for participants to talk out loud during an online training? Or is that (only) possible via a chat functionality?

Yes, you can share anything on a Windows or Mac screen. Any one can share their screen, though the Host of the meeting would have to either promote the Participant(s) to Presenter or Host roles or use the Request Screen Share function to give them the rights to share thier screen as a Participant.
Participants can use the VoIP fucntion of Connect, but again must be given permissions to do so.
I don't know of any good tutorials that cover these functions with the current verision of Connect. If you are working with a reseller, you may want to reach out to them and have them walk you through the process of achieving your needs. If you are not currently working with a reseller, I'd be happy to set up a time to demo the functionality and how it can best be achieved for you. I can be reached at jorma[at]realeyesconnect.com if you would like to discuss further off-forum.

Anyone have a clue how I can open or convert the Adobe Connect FLV file?

I'm searching for an answer to almost the same exact problem, using almost the same exact hardware and software. Has an answer been found?
The files that I'm trying to burn come from eMusic, and they are formatted mp3. Recently, (after the iTunes update to 9.2.3?,) they would not drag and drop from iTunes into Toast. From several different discussions I've tried working around this by dragging to the desktop first then dragging and dropping to Toast, going to Toast from a programmer's homemade help window, " iToons," and today, after talking with Apple support, going directly to Toast from my eMusic folder. Alas, all recordings do not perform like they use to. Sometimes they play and sometimes not. There is one I managed, that is listenable, but sometimes I have to put it in my car stereo over and over again as it gets ejected with an error code, sometimes, finally it takes it... Some of the recordings on other disks I've burned are not clean - they have white-noise sounds creeping in... I use to have none of these problems. One time as I was listening to a CD that managed to play, and it just stopped playing... Is there an answer out there to get back to how it use to be? Thanks for you help.

  • Adobe Connect - From Email and Aliases

    Hi,
Recently my email reminders being sent from Adobe Connect have been from the email "Adobe Connect" [[email protected]]
This is despite using the default setting where the event creator email address is normally used, as well as setting up a new alias with the required 'From' email details and selecting this as the name / email address that the email should come from. This is continuously over-ridden by the "Adobe Connect" email address in the From field.
When the user clicks reply to any of these emails, the correct user email address is used in the reply so this only seems to be an issue with regards the From email address.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Retrieving information from Adobe Connect XML API

Hello guys. I'm very newbie working with Adobe Flex and Connect API...
I'm trying to get some informations from an Adobe Connect Pro Server using API.
I made a HTTP request to the server and I'm receiving the right response from the server (I see from the response body in network monitor).
In the function that I'm handling the results, I need to get the fields TYPE and SCO-ID, from the XML that I received.
The problem is... when I walk through the response, to get those values, flex can't understand that one of the fields in the response are named by SCO-ID...
This is the function I'm trying to use...
    protected function breezeSCO_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void
         var step:int;
         var tempObject:Object = new Object();
//Walking through the result trying to find the data that I want to use
         for (step= 0; step < event.result.length; step++)
              if(event.result.results.shortcuts.sco[step].type == "meetings")
tempObject.code = event.result.results.shortcuts.sco[step].sco-id; //This is the line that flex gives an error: "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type Number."
tempObject.type = event.result.results.shortcuts.sco[step].type; //This line give me the right information
Here's an example of the response in browser...

I believe that the error is because the minus signal that identifies the field, because when I removed the '-id' from the field, the error goes away.
Anyone can give me any idea of how to get this value? I can't rename the field name, cause it's an XML response from the Adobe Connect Server...
Thanks, and sorry about my english!

Well... I found that others Web Services of the Adobe Connect have the same minus signal to identified the fields on the XML that is returned from the server, like the url-path that have the url for the meeting room. And I can't get those values too.... =/

  • Adobe Connect 6 question

I am using Adobe Connect version 6 and I was wondering if there was a way to setup something where a user could create users and assign them to take various tests in Connect without making them an administrator directly.
Can I setup a group like that or not?
    From Matt

Creating users is an Admin function.
You could use the Event Module, if you have it, as it also creates users. You could then assign a person in Connect as an Event Manager and Training Manager, and they could then create courses and curriculum. Then tie an event to their training content and pass the URL for enrollment to the desired individuals.
Other than that, I don't believe there is any other way. Connect 7.5 or 8 (my brain is fuzzy as to which version specifically) introduced Limited Admins as a group, which could have reduced admin rights. You could allow only user creation and then add that individual to that group, but that would require a few upgrades to your deployment.

  • Using Adobe Connect to Live Stream an Event

    Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some suggestions about how we could best use Adobe Connect to live stream an upcoming event. Every year we host an event with both a live and an online audience. Traditionally we've asked our presenters to speak into a microphone that is connected to a PA system in the room and then a separate microphone connected to a laptop pics up the audio coming out of the PA system and transmits it through Connect. I suspect that there must be a better way to do this (perhaps using a mixing board?), but I'm not sure how that would work. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
Similarly, does anyone have any thoughts on adding a live video feed? Ideally I'd like to broadcast a video feed at a resolution around 480, but I'm not sure if that's realistic. Any insights people may have would be greatly appreciated.

When doing mixed events (live and online) with Connect, I've used an audio out from a mixing board, or if you can off the PA system. This ensures a direct like from the mic being used and eliminates the chance for the PA's audio to be picked up by the mic and creating an echo or disruptive background noise.
As to the live video feed, that should be easy enough. So long as you can connect your camera (webcam or otherwise) to the computer, there should be a method to get the live stream in Connect. The feed needs to be seen as a webcam by your computer's OS, but this can be worked around with an application called DVdriver ($20), if needed. It is also free to try, so you can test at no additional cost. Connect supports up to 480P.

Contribute 3, but for version 4, I just get an error stating,

    Hi all (again).
I did some more tests. This time, I removed some SSIDs (although the documentation says that Cisco Aironet AP’s support up to 16 SSIDS), but the problem persisted. The “problematic” android devices can only connect to the eduroam wireless network if, and only if, ALL the VLAN’s defined in the Access Point are encrypted. More: once connected, if I change the AP configuration and disable the encryption in a VLAN, other than the one where the device is connected, it simply get instantaneously disconnected – as soon as I press the Enter in the CLI or as soon as I click ‘Apply’ if configuring via HTTP.
In the next table are some devices where this behavior were observed.

  • Adobe Connect 9 Training Course Video gets resized after being published from Captivate 6

    Hello!
I have an FLV that I have published to Adobe Connect 9 from Adobe Captivate 6.
I have set the size of the video to the dimensions that best display the FLV with player controls.
However, when I publish to Adobe Connect 9, the video is resized to a smaller size and looks heavily pixelated.
Is there a way to keep the dimensions and quality without Adobe Connect 9 resizing it?
Here are the settings in Captivate 6:
Here is the first screen for the preferences:
Here is the second screen in Preferences:
Here is what it looks like when viewed from Captivate 6 in a web browser:
Here is what it looks like after it has been published and uploaded into the training in Adobe Acrobat 9:
If you notice in the image above the video is smaller and the CMS logo is very pixelated due to Adobe Connect 9 resizing it.
I am not sure how to keep the dimensions that I have from Captivate 6 and have it reflect after it has been published to Adobe Connect 9.
And is there more functionality that I am not able to access since I am using a 30-Day trial.
Thanks for taking the time to read and assist!
    Angelo

You are correct that this is a known issue.  There was a fundamental change to the way objects are added to the timeline that came in with Cp6.  The result is that objects such as your SWF animations are only loaded at the time they are added to the timeline, and this causes the slide flickering you witness.  There's not really a lot you can do to get rid of it other than rebuilding all of your animations to be a single animation that once loaded will continue unabated until finished.

  • Import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Premiere Elements 12?

The Adobe Connect support staff recommended that we use Adobe Premiere Elements to edit the FLV file that we exported out of their software.  We purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 12 based on that advice.  Now we see that FLV files are not on the list of supported import files.
How can I import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for editing?

    Welcome to the forum.
Over the years, I have used Moyea's Flash Importer plug-in for PrPro, and it has worked perfectly. With about PrPro CS 4, IIRC, Adobe did add an FLV Importer, so Moyea began to suspend development of that plug-in. Then, with the release of the CC version of PrPro, they dropped FLV completely.
Now, Moyea does have other programs, but I do not know if any of them are plug-ins for PrE. However, many of their programs can create, edit and output FLV.
There is also a (free, if memory serves) FLV converter, FLV to AVI, which I used to convert FLV files, before I discovered the Moyea plug-in for my PrPro.
I would look into Moyea, to see if there is anything, that will work as a plug-in to PrE, http://www.video-to-flash.com/products/, and if not, explore a program, such as FLV to AVI: http://www.pazera-software.com/products/flv-to-avi-converter/
    Good luck,

  • Features missing from Adobe Connect 9, 16x9

I saw a preview of Adobe Connect 9 at the Adobe Connect Federal User's Group meeting yesterday. Product looks great and well worth the trouble to upgrade. Unfortunately, two of my wish list items weren't addressed. For Adobe Connect 9, it's still a 4x3 world for video and for Share Pod presentation of PDFs (they can't fill the screen on a 16x9 display). The PDF issue is especially irritating, since it should be a really easy fix for Adobe. I work in an organization where bandwidth is a problem and 50-60" conference room displays and spreadsheets are popular, so I really need PDFs to fill the screen. I asked Peter Ryce to intercede, but I'll take any help I can get from any corner. Can someone at Adobe, or anywhere else, PLEASE produce a PDF viewer pod that will go full screen on a 16x9 display?

You asked durrning Adobe's shutdown week, so the answer is slow in comming. As I recall, I had to log out and log back in for the new version 9 features to wake up, but it may have been a browser cookie issue. If you truly don't have Connect 9 (you can double check by mousing over the "Help" link on the login page and it will show your version of Connect), then you should call support at 800-945-9120.
