Question on conditional formatting

HI
I have a chart which is aggregated at year level and could be drilled down to day level, I have to specify a condition that the bars have to change color when the day level value > X. If i use conditional formatting at day level, and say change color when value >x, the year level also chart changes color as its the sum of various day values.
My requirement is in same chart i want to change the color if the value is > X at year level and when they drill down, has to change at certain value in quater level, at certain value of month... certain value at week level... and certain vale at day level.
Is this possible... pls advise! its urgent!

regarding your conditional item display and our built-in dml process, it does appear that things behave the way you're saying they do. i don't think that's expected functionality (and so i'll log it if needs be), but here are some workarounds for now:
1) consider moving your display condition to the Read Only section of your item definition screen (using the opposite of your original condition, of course). that way the lost_update value will still show on your form, but only EMILY will be able to update it.
2) consider using two forms (or two conditionally displayed form regions on the same page): one that shows the field and one that doesn't.
3) manually coding the page (using your own dml processes instead of ours)
regarding your first issue: if you just want to do things behind-the-scenes, you could simply put an after_submit computation on your page that stripped out the non-numeric characters from your field so users wouldn't have to worry so much about that formatting. i'm pretty sure you could best handle your request, though, by putting a format mask into the "Format Mask" field that's on the item definition
screen for your numeric item. if you click the flashlight icon next to that field, you'll see what i mean. if you wanted to get extra user-friendly, you'd could consider throwing in validations to check for the particular formatting in which you're interested. the trade offs are pretty obvious, so the choices are really yours.
hope this helps,
raj

  • Conditional Formatting in RTF templates

    HI
I am just going around with designing of rtf templates. I have a question regarding the conditional formatting feature. The question is
IF i am having different type of customers(corporate,individual,etc..) passed as parameters, Can an particular cell be formatted with different colors for different customers. for example, if the parameter is corporate customer the the color of particular cell should be RED in color, and if parameter is Individual the color of cell Must be GREEN in color.
Please help me out with this.
    Thanks in advance

Yes you can conditionally format the individual cells.
Take a look at the guide (link provided) and search for "Cell Highlighting":
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e12187/T421739T481157.htm

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2013 - Conditional formatting

    Hey all,
I'm trying to pull of conditional formatting for the outcome of a "Yes or No" column within a Custom List, however all the searching I have done shows that it seems to have been removed in Sharepoint 2013 without using a Jquery (I'm having problems
getting my head around Sharepoint 2013 at the moment, dont want to add Jqueries to it as well lol).
Have I missed something stupidly easy? I have http://www.cdpdev.com/Blog/Post/7/Conditional-Formatting-in-SharePoint-2013 but it seems to be using Sharepoint
2013 with Sharepoint designer 2010 which I dont really want to have to do as the will be in time handed over the my 'manager' who will self manage and using 2 different pieces of software is kinda out of the question.
    Regards
    JB

    Hey @ITechbrij
it seems the above post doesn't work for Sharepoint 2013 as I'm getting a syntax error but this maybe due to me not being able to find the formula box so put it into the "Column Validate" section as I'm missing the formula box that is shown in the 2010 screenshots.
If this is not possible what do you suggest? Going with the Sharepoint designer 2010 approach? As I cant find how to do it in 2013 and wouldn't know where the start with a jquery lol.

  • Report generation toolkit conditional format - how to?

    Hi
We are using the Report generation toolkit (2010 version), and have a question regarding this tool.
I see functions for setting the number format, but not a conditional format. Does this not exist?
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372120A-01/lvoffice/excel_set_cell_format/
This page refers to an example which from the name sets a conditional format. However as I understand it, this example is setting a custom number, not a conditional format.

    Hi,
the simplest way to do this I guess you can provide a template for your Excel sheet, where you can set the conditional format there.
From LabVIEW you can just send the values into this sheet-template.
Maybe you can try these if you want

  • HT4648 So if you import a numbers document from a mac to iPad which has a conditional format rule such as a cell with a score between 1-10 fills with the colour black will still work on the iPad? Not being able to edit it just means you can't change this

I want to use numbers on my iPad mini for a team I coach. I have a spreadsheet on my mac I want to import onto the iPad mini for players to enter in wellness ratings. On this spreadsheet (on the mac) I have a conditioning formatting rule that when a player enters in their numbers the cells fill with black so others can't see their entries (to maintain privacy). Will this function import across onto iPad numbers? From the discussion I saw on this site it only partly answers my question stating "it cannot be edited" does this mean the conditional formatting rule cannot be changed and therefore will still work or the whole spreadsheet can't be edited and you can only view the spreadsheet and make no new entries to it?

Yes, I have posted this thread to different forums after I realized that Lenovo "customer care" is not likely to help me out and even wirelessforums.org members couldn't come up with any ideas for days, that's why. I have already written that helper applications like SMAC (or etherchange or macshift) don't work, because they do the same thing in the system as I change it in the driver panel, so they use the same method which simply does not work.
Locked? Definitely not. If yes, why can I change the MAC of my adapter under Ubuntu Linux using b43 open-source driver if it's really locked? Or you mean it's locked from software, because Lenovo or Broadcom didn't want their users to change their MACs or they just forgot to release a fully-functional driver? Well, then I would like to have a driver in which it's not locked, because this is a basic feature of my adapter of which the hardware is capable.
I have already contacted Broadcom, see their (automatically-generated) answer in my initial post, but I will try to do that again with more foresight.

  • Can conditional formatting refer to the value in another cell

Is there a way for conditional formatting refer to the value of another cell instead of entering the value in the conditional format box?

wwjd is right. no way of doing that.
    WWJD, two wuestions:
    1) do you have the new office 2008 for mac beta (is it out?), how close is it to the new features in Office 2007 for windows, if you do?
    2) why do our pictures keep getting cut off after a day of posting. I posted a pic yesterday and its already not showing on the page the next day. Do they not load them after the question is marked as solved?

  • OBIEE 11g: Gauge (Bulb) Conditional Formatting

    Hi everyone,
Is there a way to conditionally format a bulb gauge based on a dimension value = presentation variable?
I conditionally formatted the column in question and then put it as the "row" of the gauge but the gauge didn't inherit the formatting.
Does anyone know how I could do this?
To be honest, what I'm really trying to do have a set of stop light metrics (green/yellow/red) across the top of the report. Each one gives you quick insight into how they are performing, and then you can click on them to refresh all the metrics on the existing dashboard to that particular metric.
    For example:
    Metric 1 Metric 2 Metric 3 Metric 4
    Green Yellow Red Green
(other graphs and details about metric 1 as default, but when users click on the other metrics, all reports refresh to show details about the other metrics).
I'm envisioning something more like a glorified column selector. The goal is that you can see everything at a high level and then view specifics if you think the situation warrants that. The bulb gauges are pretty to look at and give the right feel but I'm not getting the right functionality out of them.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks!

  • EPM Formatting Sheet - Conditional Formatting

    Hello Experts,
I have a Formatting Question.  We have a simple Actual vs Budget Report, with a Variance % Local Member.  To apply the % Format to the local member, I used the USE - Number Format on the formatting sheet, which will allow Row formats like Underlines/Bold to carry through it.  It works fine.  I also want the cell to be Condintionally Formatted.  What is the USE case to complete this?  I tried Style, Pattern and a few others, no luck so far.  Is this possible to do?
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hello Christophe,
Thank you for the response. The "All" Selection does work, however the issue is when I have formatting on the Rows and they intersect with my % column. Example is like  a subtotal which may have an Underline and Bold format, that I also want to apply to the Cell.  When I use "NumberFormat" it keeps the % format, with the borders/font type of the Row.  I was hoping, there was a selection, like "Number Format" that would active the conditional formatting, which in my case is just a Fill of Red or green.  Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Comparing lookup columns in conditional formatting

I have a column of type number in one table, and in that same table a lookup column of type number.  Do I have to do any special formatting or manipulation to be sure they properly compare so I can do conditional formatting?
First part of clause is in the main table; second part is the lookup
This is the clause in question clause:
    $thisNode/@Due_x0020_Cycles <= @Registration_x003a_Cycles_x0020_
(This of course, doesn't work as I expect it to)

This might be because the Lookup is actually returning the index value rather than the actual value that displays. You may have to take the Index value from the lookup and use that to get the value from the original list.

  • Can we preserve Conditional Formatting in excel even after export ?

    Hi,
I have requirement where I need to preserve the formulae and conditional formatting when exported in excel format.
The user is supposed to be changing the values and so the final result values and cell formats should change as well.
I tried the workaround to preserve the formulae as directed in other threads but would like to know if we also have a workaround to preserve the conditional formatting of the cells.
I know OfficeWriter can help me to get this requirement done but still I wonder if we have any workaround for this requirement.
    Thanks.

    Hi Rikz,
According to your description, you want to preserve the formula and conditional formatting when export report to excel format.
According to my knowledge, In earlier versions of Reporting Services, there was limited support for translating expressions in RDL to Microsoft Excel formulas. Since SSRS 2008, when you export a report to Excel, RDL expressions are not translated to Excel
    formulas, which is documented at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143380(v=SQL.100).aspx by Microsoft. When we export a report to excel, only the final data is exported. If some user want to preserve specify cells’ conditional formatting, we can use IIF function as a workaround
    as below:
IIf(Globals!RenderFormat.Name Like "EXCEL*", Excel Formula, RDL Formula)
For more information about export formulas to Excel, please refer to the following feedback:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/488517/ssrs-2008-export-formulas-to-excel

  • Conditional formatting vs categories

We use Outlook 2010 and we have got at shared calendar for our workgroup. We use it to add our meetings and appointments. We Always invite the account with the shared mailbox to our meetings or forward meeting requests to it so that we all are able to see
    where our colleagues are.
To get a better view we categorize so that each person in our workgroup have a specific colour. Then we choose categorize and manually add all persons in our workgroup that are invited to a meeting. By doing this we get a multi coloured box that show in
colours who in our workgroup is attending.
Now I want to make the categorization automatic and this is done by using conditional formatting. I set up conditional formatting for each of my colleagues and then try but I only get one coloured boxes in Outlook.
is it possible to achieve the same categorization as manually but to have it done automatically without adding VBA?

    Hi,
May I know how you configured the Conditional Formatting in detail? Especially what conditions you selected.
As for the question, there is no build-in feature in Outlook to realize your request, the only method I can think of is to use VBA.

  • Outlook Conditional Formatting by sender's email address?

Is it possible to set Conditional Formatting based on the sender's email address (rather than the name displayed in the From field)?
We're using Outlook 2010 in cached mode with an Exchange server.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Currently it's by design. If we change the display name by VBA, we may set the condition based on the Sender's email address:

  • Check for null values in conditional formatting when no rows returned.

I have a report that is showing facts for different months.
For some months there is no row in the facts table.
But in the report, I have to show a * when there is no data.
If there is a row in the facts table with null value for data, the conditional formatting successfully shows a * when data is null.
But when no row is present in the facts for a particular month , conditional formatting is unable to detect any null, as none exist.
How we can check that no rews returned for a particular month and then show *?
    thanks

  • How do i use conditional formatting to edit the color of other selected other cells?

I have been playing around with the conditional formatting feature of Numbers, I have figured out how to change font and background color of the cell i am working with.
However what i am looking to do is apply a background color formatting to another cell (i.e. F2) if conditions are met in (B2).
    the end game is this,
I want to make a column of check boxes, and using contional formating i want adject cells to change color (I.e. the example above: if (B2) is a check box, then when unchecked the reffered Cell (F2) does nothing, but when check the color of (F2) changes)
I can make this happen with Logic equations, the give (i.e. F2) some letter or number value, then using conditional formats i can have the color change. but this leaves that particular cell useless to me (i.e. F2) I am not free to enter or edit text in that cell. (i.e. =IF(B2=TRUE,"Paid","Due") ----> then add a conditional statement that chages color when the value is either "Paid" or "Due")
How do i have F2 change color, when B2 is checked and still retain the ability to enter information (or potential have another formula) in F2? (The Cell is not used up by "Paid" or  "Due" it is editable just like any other cell)
is there anyway to change cell characteristics like font, color, and background color inside a formula, because in that way i would be able build it manually
i tried using the formula editor inside the conditional format pane, but the only infor it will allow me to retain is one partictular cell. i cannot add modifiers like "+" or "=" or anything else. what is that space used for then?
    thanks for anyones help

    MC,
You can do what you want in Numbers. It requires an auxiliary column and it's a bit tedious to set up because conditional formatting by comparison to another cell isn't relative, so each cell has to be programmed individually with no option to Paste or Fill to other cells in a range.
For explanation purposes, let's say your checkbox is A2, your cell to be conditionally formatted is B2, and your auxiliary cell is  C2. To have the format of B2 determined by the checkbox status in A2, you will:
    1. In C2 write: =IF(A, B, " ") The " " is any string or value that you don't expect to encounter in B normally, and using the space character means you don't have to worry about having it visible if C is in View.
    2. In B2 use Conditional Format: "Equal To" cell C2 and set your text and fill attributes to be used when the box in A is checked.
That's it. Do that for every cell in the range.
    Jerry
