Question on having 2 computes Sync and Upgrade Ipad2

Question

I was going to upgrade, but I have 2 computers, one I use on the road traveling and one at home. I tried it forst on the home computer, it said I should do it on the coomputer that I download music on. So I go back to the work computer. The work computer tells me that all my apps will be gone if I upgrade. Im kinda lost here as to what to do. I authorized both computers, did a sync on both. The work computer will not save my paid apps, it tells me to authorize, which I did, twice, but it keeps telling me to authorize. ARGGGG

This will not work unless you are using the same ID on both computers and with both iTunes libraries.
As long as you are using the same ID on both computers this is what you want to do on the work computer - this is the computer that you want to download the update on correct?
If you use a PC - Launch iTunes and then go to Edit>Preferences>Devices - and check the box that says Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Then quit iTunes.
If you use a Mac - the only difference is iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent .....
Now connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes if it doesn't start on its own. Right click on the iPad name on the left side of the iTunes window under the devices heading and then select Transfer Purchases from the pop up menu. This will transfer all of the apps from the iPad to your iTunes library on the work computer.

After you transfer the purchases - while the iPad is still connected to the computer - right click on the iPad name again and select - Backup. This will backup your data to the work computer.

After you have transferred purchases and backed up - you can sync with iTunes and you should be OK to download the update.
Before you eject the iPad - click on all of the tabs in iTunes in the window on the right. Make sure that all of the apps and music and whatever else - has been selected to sync just in case - double check everything. If something isn't selected and you want to add it, select it, and you will have to click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes in order to apply the changes and sync.
You must be running iTunes 10.5 on the computer to install the update but you probably know that already.
When you are done with all of this - you can go back to auto syncing if you like. You may chnge how you do things anyway once you download the new iOS with WiFi syncing anyway.
