The built in email program does sound an alert for new messages.
2. Anyone know of a good (free, again) IRC client?
iChat works well.
3. I noticed earlier that my screen was flickering,
it seems to have subsided for now, but is that normal
to encounter in a new display? It wasn't really bad
flicker, but I could see it.

4. I leave my desktops on 24/7x365, will that be a
problem with this iMac? Display shuts off of course
after 30 mins
You could set the iMac to go to sleep after non use. My Macs are
always sleeping when not in use, waking them up takes seconds.
Unlike windoze, never knew if it would be locked up or not.
5. Should I get the extended warranty? I'm usually
against them, but I am expecting this computer to
last me at least 3 years (for $1300 it better!)
before I upgrade, as I got that much out of a Dell
and from what I understand, Mac's do not age nearly
as fast as Windows pc's.
It is well worth the cost. Never know what might happen. Also
it is good insurance for future upgrades. I traded in my G4 tower
purchased two years ago for 75% of what I paid for it. Apple care
transfers, giving the buyer the remainder of your warranty.

I have just purchased a new computer. Some time age I purchased Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 package which includes the disc. Since them I upgraded to 4 online without the disc .How do I upload without the dosc, I have the serial number for version 4 and have been using it on my old computer.
You will need both License Keys the Lightroom 4 upgrade key and the Lightroom 3 key. You can download the latest LR 4.4.1 from the site below. Just make sure you get the appropriate one for your operating system.

Install then you first enter the LR 4 upgrade serial number and then the LR 3 serial number when prompted. -

You don't need a serial number to install LabVIEW.
Registration is optional.
Activation is needed after the evaluation period.
Install it without number and it will work for a limited time (30days?) in evaluation mode, giving you plenty of time to decide if you want to buy it.
Check the license manager to see the activation status of everything installed.

I have transferred Aperture 3 from an old Imac to a new. Now I´m requested to put in the serial number for v2, which I upgraded from several years ago. I can`t find it, but have the serial number for the upgrade. What to do? Can I find the original serial number in my old Imac?

How do I find the serial numbers for the software on my computer... iWeb for example.
I have had my MBP for a couple of years. I decided to try iWeb but it wants me to register the SW. I have no clue what the marketing part number is or the serial number. Does anyone know where I can find this info? If I am not mistaken the SW came preinstalled on my computer.
ThanksMost programs will not store the serial numbers in a way that you can locate them. When you purchased iWeb you should have been given a serial number to use in the box, or via e-mail. iWeb does not come preinstalled on systems anymore and has been discontinued. At one point Apple did release a commercial version of the software that required a serial number, so this may be what you have.

I am ask for serial number of Photoshop CW, CS2, & CS3 I put in the serial number from my Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. None of which are accepted. What do I need to do to accomplish upgrade?
When you purchase a Creative Suite collection, you can't run an upgrade on an individual product within the Suite. You have to upgrade the entire collection.
You could purchase a copy of Photoshop CS6, or a subscription to Photoshop which can be as little as $9.99 with the Photography plan to the Creative Suite.
Adobe no longer sells upgrades to CS3 or CS4. -

Help, I am trying to get my pictures from my ipad to my computer (windows 8) and I get the message that "no photos could be found on this device." When I try to open the dcim folder, it shows up empty. What can I do? I have previously been able to import pictures easily.
Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!
