Question on syntax for role portion (LH side) of the credential

I am concerned about syntax for the role portion (the stuff to the left of the "@" sign). Specifically, what are the illegal characters? Can I use dashes and periods? And I presume I can intermix alpha and numeric characters, and I need to know if that's not the case.

That's a little complicated ... there are multiple layers to consider.
Firstly, recall where credentials go ... they go in iTunes U URL (URI) query component. WIthin the query component of any URI, certain characters are reserved. Those characters are:
From RFC 2396:
The query component is a string of information to be interpreted by
the resource.
query = *uric
Within a query component, the characters ";", "/", "?", ":", "@",
"&", "=", "+", ",", and "$" are reserved.
So you'll want to avoid those characters outright. In addition, there are characters that are not allowed (or have special meanings within) any URI (again I refer you to RFC 2396).
My suggestion would be to apply the same rules as would apply to a variable within most programming languages ... you're safest if you stick to alphanumerics and the underscore, start with an alphabetic character.
Recall, too, that while you use roles in whatever way makes most sense for your site, the intention is to use that slot as, well, a "role" ... you should be able to define that simply, in most cases, without the need for special characters. A "role" would be something like "Student" or "Instructor" or "Visitor" or "Guest" or "Actor" or "Producer" or "Editor" or "Dean" or "VideoProductionAssistant" or "Administrator" ... think of a role not so much as who somebody "is" within iTunes U, rather think of it as the place to describe what a person "does" within iTunes U. I suspect ... and I could be wrong ... but I suspect that the reason you're asking about special characters is because you want to create a role-per-user at your site ... and you want to make sure your rules for usernames will map to what's allowed in the role slot.

I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
      tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
      "done", in the upper right corner
c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
      Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
      should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
      security questions.
d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
      selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
      should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
      questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

What is the syntax for the mdx offset in universe designer?

I wish someone could help me with my mdx syntax. I made an universe with Universe designer (BOEdge 3.1) from a BW query and I'm trying to create in this universe an object with an offset.
My new object has to be the result of the [0CALYEAR].[LEVEL01] with "- 1" offset, is it possible???
I tried to put the code in the select or in the where fields of the object but without results. When I try to make a query in webi rich client this "new object" doesn't work...

I tried to use that document...the problem is when I put the code in the object (inside univ des) and I analyse the code using the button, the syntax is every time without errors. When I try to make the query in webi rich client , if I use that object the software shows a window with error.
I used these code in the "where" field:

2. <EXPRESSION>@SELECT(Anno calendario\L01 Anno calendario)-1</EXPRESSION>
the problem is to find the right syntax for what I want...the -1 offset for the new object from the OCALYEAR. I need that if in webi I select from the object filter [0CALYEAR].[LEVEL01] the value 2010 - in the new object will be 2009 etc...

What is the SYNTAX for the user and group filters??? Is the HTML Ampersand token Amper A m p semicolon required in the filter

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over the actual syntax for the user and group filters on the Forms Based Authentication Ldap Role and membership providers.. MSFT isn't really clear and there is a universal confusion in the blogsphere.
I the filters should the prefix be the ACTUAL Ampersand or the HTML token for an AMPERSAND.. I realize the in many cases the blogger might have inadvertently specified the html token when the bare naked ampersand was intended.. The question
therefore is : can a filter be taken directly from and ADSIEdit query and used as a filter or must the filter be made HTML safe by swapping out the AMERSAND with the HTML Token for AMERSAND before putting it into the configuration

Syntax for using a variable in an equation.

I am using diadem script. In my example above, for the equation, if I substitue a,b,and c with numerical values, the script runs just fine and the formula executes as desired. Is there a way to place the variables there instead as I have tried to do (I was hoping it was just a syntax issue) or do I have to approach it a completely different way?

Looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens

I am looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens. Haven't found any posts that relate, but I'm not sure how to ask the right question. To be clear, I want to write a helper VI to go through a list of subVIs to make sure the background images are all in the same place when their respective subVIs open. I hate manually playing with scroll bars before I save each of the VIs... I'm figuring I need to find the top/left location of the background image (know how to do this already) and then set a VI FP property to these values or some offset, but I can't find the relevant property. FP:run-timeposition:custom looked promissing, but only affects the location of the window, not the area of the front panel the window is displaying.

Cool. Getting closer. The way I implemented your suggestion affects the subVI only if it is open. I can use this to do what I'm after, perhaps putting the code into each subVI. Maybe open all subs, run the helper, and save. Seems like I'm missing the elegant version...

Also, Is it possible to assign a Role instead of the users in the custom attributes ?
Meaning, Approving user assignment of a role named "Role A" will be done by users that belong to "Role_A_Approvers".
Will appreciate pointers to the online docs, I've search and didn't find information related to the usecase I've described.

I'm not sure I understand how the proposed approach helps avoid the decoupling of users to role admins attribute.
The intention was to have two roles, "Role_A" and "Role_A_Approver" where people that belong to "Role_A_Approver" will be assigned workflow tasks whenever Role_A is to be granted to end-users.
Currently, each role has a "Role Admin" attribute, this attribute however holds a user and not a container of users (role)..

A question about users assigned roles extraction

Dear all,
I have a question about users assigned roles list extraction. I need the list of the users who have already been created along with their assigned roles. According to what I found on Google, there is a table named AGR_USERS which provides the roles assigned to each user. Yet, this table provides only the SAP ID of each user along with the assigned roles. What I need more is to have also the first name and second name of each user.
So, do you know any table providing at least the following information:
1) First name of each user
2) Second name of each user
3) SAP ID of each user
4) All assigned roles to each user.
NOTE: I really need to have first name and second name in separate columns

As it seems to me the column "UNAME" in the table "AGR_USERS" and the column "BNAME" in the table "USER_ADDR", both refer to the SAP ID of the user. As a result the condition of the join would be "WHERE (UNAME = BNAME)", is there any transaction/programme allowing to create this join?

Invalid input syntax for type boolean???? ahhhhhh

Has anyone come accross the 'invalid input syntax for type boolean' error - its driving me crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with my function/java code!!!
The postgres (using 8.1) function is:

Once this query is executed via the java code i get the 'invalid input syntax for type boolean: "staffid=2" ' error. However if I type select selectstaffroles('staffid=2') using pgAdmin SQL window - no problems!

Ahh soz - silly mistake which was corrected pretty much as soon as post was posted!
Solution:
Within another method the where clause sent to the database function was enclosed within quotes! Removing quotes = problem resolved!

Macro syntax for non-negativity

Could some one copy past the syntax for non-negativity like this
If KF1 < 0, then KF1 = 0 else KF1
This condition needs to be applied on top of existing macro for KF1 that does some arithmatic whose result could be < 0.
would appreciate if you copy paste the steps.. that you may already have in any of your macro books.
I also take this opportunity to request the macro experts to compile a wiki document on macro syntax.. A piecemeal approach would also do without relating to WHERE such a macro could be used. I find this learning the macro syntax by trial and error a rather unproductive and painful experience.
If some of you could volunteer lets build a fantastic reference document on the macros where everyone can contribute and come with with something really useful.
The final list can then be classified into artithmatical, conditional, control, abap macros. A brief description alongside each macro and some expert comments on possible application can be later expanded. newer and alternate ways of realzing the same macro creatively and in lesser steps could be regularly appended. I could moderate if such a thing is correct and agreeable
