I want to get all the records from APTS_TASK table even if they do not exist in SIAP.FLIGHT_PROCEDURE. So I have created a outer join APTS_TASK table and flight_procedure table to get all the records from APTS. I get all the records if I use just the two tables APTS_TASK and FLIGHT_PROCEDURE. But when I include SIAP.PROC_AIRPORT in the query I loose some records from the query. So If I want to get all the records should I include all the outer join to SIAP. PROC_AIRPORT table too. I tried to make this clear but let me know if you have more questions.

The first query 'a' has the following result:

The usr_login on table usr is the primary key, and as you can see above, for each usr_login I can find one ore more ugp_key on the table usg.
The query 'b' gives the list of all the usr_login's roles which have the name LIKE 'B-%' (it means '*Business Roles*'), and all the respective role's key (ugp_key)
So, when I join the query 'a' with the query 'b', I expect to find for every usr_login the respective ugp_display_name (the Business Role name).
Because the query 'b' contains ONLY the ugp_keys of the Business Roles, when I execute the complete query, this is the result:
usr_login <space> ugp_rolename <space> ugp_display_name
C01015 <space> BK005 <space> TELLER 1
C01015 <space> BK003 <space> TELLER 2
C01015 <space> null <space> null
C01015 <space> null <space> null
C01208 <space> null <space> null
As you can see, with the outer join I obtain the Business Name (ugp_display_name) for each occurrence (and I have 2 rows duplicated with 'null' for the usr_login C01015); This beacuse the query 'b' doesn't have the two ugp_keys 685 and 3.
Instead I'd like to have the following result:
usr_login <space> ugp_rolename <space> ugp_display_name
C01015 <space> BK005 <space> TELLER 1
C01015 <space> BK003 <space> TELLER 2
C01208 <space> null <space> null
deleting ONLY the duplicated rows with null, when the usr_login has already at least one ugp_display_name not null.
For example:
1) The usr_login 'C01015' has 2 Business Roles (with ugp_key = 565 and 683) and other 2 not-Business Roles (with ugp_key = 685 and 3) --> I want to see ONLY the 2 records related to the Business Roles
2) The usr_login 'C01208' has only one not-Business Roles (with ugp_key = 3) --> I want to see the record related to the not- Business Role
Practically:
1) When a usr_login has one or more Business Roles and other not-Business Roles , I'd like to see ONLY the records about the Business Roles (not the records with 'null','null')
2) When a usr_login doesn't have Business Roles, I'd like to see the records about the same usr_login with 'null','null'
This, because I need to show both usr_logins: with and without Business Roles.
Anybody has any suggestions ? Any help will be appreciated.

(1) the row has a match in b, or
(2) no iwith the same usr_login has a match.
Here's one way to do that:

By the way, you don't need sub-queries for a and b; you can do all the joins and all the filtering (except conditions (1) and (2)) in one query, but the sub-queries aren't hurting anything. If you find the separate sub-queries easier to understand, debug and maintain, then, by all means, keep them.

"use ODBC outer join syntax on limits" issues

I'm converting a series of BQY's from Brio 6.6 to Hyperion 9.3. I have some questions about the "use ODBC outer join syntax on limits" option in the OCE. I sort of understand this option's purpose, but I don't completely understand the SQL I'm seeing. For example Brio 6.6 is generating the following SQL statement:
SELECT * FROM tblA AL1 LEFT OUTER JOIN tblB AL38 ON (AL38.ParentID=AL1.ChildID AND
AL38.Data='SomeData') WHERE ((NOT AL38.Action IS NULL))
Now, Hyperion 9.3 generated the SQL statement as follows:
SELECT * FROM tblA AL1 LEFT OUTER JOIN tblB AL38 ON (AL38.ParentID=AL1.ChildID AND
AL38.Data='SomeData') AND (NOT AL38.Response IS NULL))
My questions are:
1) Why isn't the "NOT AL38.Action IS NULL" statement included in the outer join in Brio? I'm OK with the fact that it is not, but my limited understanding of the "use ODBC outer join syntax on limits" seems to indicate that it should end up there.
2) The Hyperion SQL is returning incorrect results. How can I get Hyperion to generate the same SQL as Brio? And still use the OCE with "use ODBC outer join syntax on limits" selected? This setting is working fine for other BQY's.

How to use the out parameter of a transformation

Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to move all the transformations from process flows to map.SO for each transformation I need to have 1 map which calls this transformation.I have 1 transformation which has both input and output parameter.If I use this transformation in mapping then how to use the out parameter of thsi transformation.This out parameter needs to beused in other mappings.Can soemone please help me.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do.
What works: Connect the outgroup of a pre- or post-mapping process operator to the mapping output parameter operator..
What does not work: Connect the outgroup of an operator that can return more than one row (e.g. table operator, filter, joiner ,...) to the mapping output parameter operator. The mapping output parameter just returns "one row", like a pl/sql function call.
You cannot pass a "data stream" from one mapping to another. Maybe the pluggable mappings is what you are looking for.

Using Left Outer Join

Hi SAP,
I have an access database with table called "Employee_ID". I am linking this table to a table called "Sales" in our main database and trying to report on January 2009.
There is one employee that is not appearing in my report. I know this employee has had no sales in Jan 2009. So, I tried linking the table using Left Outer Join and still this employee is not appearing in my report.
As a test, when I bring in Employee_ID table alone, the missing employee appears but when I try linking it INNER or LEFT OUTER join to table Sales, this employee does not appear.
Any help how I can bring the employee in from table Employee_ID?

Your suggestion led me to the finding my solution. Your suggestion brought back the missing employee but I needed all employees that had sales in January 2009 AND those that didn't. So I had to tweak your select expert formula as follows:
isnull({Sales.amt}) or
{Sales.period}="0109"
This brought back everything as needed! There was one negative about using this method. The performance was poor. It took a really long time to run.
To avoid having to wait for this to run and increase the performance, I had to go into the database and add a $0.00 sales amt for employee 2040 (or an empty sales amount record) in the month of January 2009. This brought back everyone also and it obviously increased the performance exponentially. Curious, why does it take forever to run using the above formula in select expert?

How to have a condition with the outer join

Hi, I'd like to know if, inside a report, there's a way to create a condition which include in some way an outer join.
So, I have 2 custom folders:
Tickets with 2 fields: Ticket_id, Inventory_item_id, category_id and iptv_sumptom
Hierarchy with 4 fields: Symptom, Inv_item_id, Category_id and Group
These 2 folders are joined in this way
Tickets.inventory_item_id = Hierarchy.inv_item_id (+) AND Tickets.category_id = Hierarchy.category_id (+) AND Tickets.iptv_sumptom = Hierarchy.Symptom (+)
Now, from the report I have a parameter based on the field Group to restrict dataset of the tickets.
...but when I choose a group and I run the report, the conditions inside the plsql query generated is like this
WHERE (Tickets.inventory_item_id = Hierarchy.inv_item_id (+) AND Tickets.category_id = Hierarchy.category_id (+) AND Tickets.iptv_sumptom = Hierarchy.Symptom (+)) AND Hierarchy.Group = 'A'
where the last condition is WITHOUT outer join !
I need to have also the outer join on the Hierarchy.Group: AND Hierarchy.Group (+) = 'A', but from the Administrator I don't want to add another join with (+) for the Group. From Plus I didn't find any way to write (+).....
Anybody knows another method or workaround to have also a filter (the condition Hierarchy.Group = 'A') with an outer join ?

Hi,
A workaround can be either use new objects or modify the existing ones to avoid the outer join.
In order to do that you can add a dummy record to each custom folder and then join by it.
For example if you will add to the
Tickets will be:
select Ticket_id, Inventory_item_id, category_id, iptv_sumptom
from......
union all
select -1,-1,-1,'Some value' from dual
And hierarchy will be:
select Symptom, Inv_item_id, Category_id ,Group
from......
union all
select 'Some value',-1,-1,'Some value' from dual
Now you can create a full join between them without the need to outer join.

When I run client main method with parameter "lxh",I will get a error says the getPass() parameter which has given is wrong.
How to use the out parameter in client?

Does this error only occurs if you pass "lxh" or always?
Did you try passing a StringHolder Object rather than a NULL Object?
Perhaps you can post the error message!?

Popup LOV fails in firefox when using an outer join!!!

I have a popup lov which contains at least 2 outer joins in my query. The popup renders fine in IE but i get the error message:
"Popup List of Values query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different"
when launching the popup from Firefox (1.5.0.2)
Anyone got any idea why this works in IE but fails in Firefox?

Duncan If you'll run your example code on SQL*Plus, you'll see that for department "OPERATIONS" there is no returned value. This could happen with outer join. The problem can be with the way FF is interpreting this non-value. I didn't try it my self, but maybe if you'll use display null value with your LOV, it will solve the problem. Another possible option is to use NVL() on the returned value.
Chris Some of the Apex team members, like Carl, are using FF as their main browser. There are some compatibility issues with the last version of FF, but from that, to your conclusion of Apex only support IE, there's a long road.

Question about using views in joins

I have a question that is related to views. When a view is joined with another table, how does Oracle internally handle it? Does it create a temporary table that contains the resultant rows of the view and join that temorary table to the other table or does it use the view's SQL and embed it into the join condition?

No oracle do not create temporary table to joining table and views.There no difference joining just table<=>table and table<=>view.There is important join condition,and oracle will join these table and view according these conditions.

How to use "left outer join" in SQVI

Dear ALL ,
I want to match MARA materials with BOM material table (MAST,STPO)material or Routing material table (MAPL,PLPO) and I want the list of NONMATCHING material codes from SQVI.
How to get these items which do not match in 2 tables........?
I have to work with SQVI + EXCEL ( VLOOKUP ) in excel sheet.

After selecting the table join option, In layout mode enter the table names in Joined tables tab. Select the 2 tables using check boxex and select the join type like left inner and click on define condition. This would create a left inner join. Similarly carry out for the next 2 tables.

I have 4 tables: A, B, C; if I want to do the following:
A left outer join B, its result left outer join C.
How can I do that? BTW, I am using DB2.
