Question regarding warranty replacement WRT54GX2 ver 2

I purchaced new SRX200 model WRT54GX2 ver 2.  It was determined by technical support after hour on the phone that unit was defective. I received replacement unit, which was Ver 1 Model.   Is this standard procedure not to replace defective model with exact model purchased in store?

Hmmmmm... I don't think there's a way of knowing the version until the device is out of the box... the model number will always be in box... (e.g. WRT54GX2) but the version (e.g. WRT54GX2 v2) can only be found on the router itself... so same model number... just different version... (i think)....

  • Questions regarding hard disk replacement in MacBook Pro Early 2008 Edition

    Hello -
You folks probably get this a lot but I have a MacBook Pro Early 2008 edition and would like to upgrade the base 200 GB 5400 RPM drive to a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 drive. I have a few questions regarding this, and would appreciate any feedback.
    1) Does anybody know if installing a new hard drive in a MacBook Pro would cause the warranty to be invalidated? I don't believe a hard drive is considered a user replaceable part, at least from what I read, and I would like to know if replacing it myself would void AppleCare.
    2) Does anybody have any experience with the Segate Montentus 7200.4? I'm interested in how reliable the drive is and how much heat it generates. I've quickly discovered that I can use my MacBook Pro as an oven in tight spots and would like to prevent it from cooking its own internals.
3 random) Does anybody know at what temperature the system actually overheats? I'm seeing 171 F and this is with smcFanControl turned up to the Higher RPM mode. I'm a little nervous when I'm running WoW and the system is averaging above 170 with smcFanControl totally cranked up to 6000 rpm.
    Thanks everyone!

Thanks for that. I've had mixed results with both Seagate and WD, but less issues historically with WD. My experience with IBM/Hitachi makes is nearly impossible to recommend their products, so based on what I'm seeing the Western Digital Scorpio Black looks like the best bet. Do you happen to know if Apple will do hardware installations outside of warranty repair scenario's? Ripping open my only notebook to perform "involved" hardware maintenance is not something I'd prefer to do, even with my technical background.

  • IPhone 4S out-of-warranty replacement

Hello. I have two questions regarding the policy that Apple has for devices out of warranty.
Recently I was given a Verizon iPhone 4S with a broken front glass and a battery that does not last for more than 12 hours. So my question is, if I take the device to an Apple store, will they accept to replace the device with a refurbished one by paying $199? And if yes, is it possible to get a GSM device (one that can work on AT&T) instead of a CDMA?
    Thank you.

Yes to your first question and no to the second.
The exchange will be the same model, storage capacity, and color.

  • Out of warranty replacement... how does it work ?

I have another post regarding my broken IPhone 3GS (I figured this is a new question so required a new thread).
I need to get an 'out of warranty' replacement but have a few questions:
When doing a replacement is the 'replacement' a referb ?
Is it possible to pay extra and get another version of the IPhone 4/4s/5 ? Or is it a 'like for like' swap ?
    Thanks in advance

    Yes.

Not as a replacement for an out of warranty replacement.

  • I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac Pro

I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac pro (early 2009).
These questions might seem stupid to many of you, but, as my last, in fact my one and only, computer before the Mac Pro was a IICX/4/80 running System 7.5, I am a complete novice regarding this particular matter.
A few days ago I installed a WD3000HLFS VelociRaptor 300GB in bay 1, and moved the original 640GB HD to bay 2. I now have 2 bootable internal drives, and currently I am using the VR300 as my startup disk. Instead of cloning from the original drive, I have reinstalled the Mac OS, and all my applications & software onto the VR300. Everything is backed up onto a WD SE II 2TB external drive, using Time Machine. The original 640GB has an eDrive partition, which was created some time ago using TechTool Pro 5.
The system will be used primarily for photo editing, digital imaging, and to produce colour prints up to A2 size. Some of the image files, from scanned imports of film negatives & transparencies, will be 40MB or larger. Next year I hope to buy a high resolution full frame digital SLR, which will also generate large files.
Currently I am using Apple's bundled iPhoto, Aperture 2, Photoshop Elements 8, Silverfast Ai, ColorMunki Photo, EZcolor and other applications/software. I will also be using Photoshop CS5, when it becomes available, and I will probably change over to Lightroom 3, which is currently in Beta, because I have had problems with Aperture, which, until recent upgrades (HD, RAM & graphics card) to my system, would not even load images for print. All I had was a blank preview page, and a constant, frozen "loading" message - the symbol underneath remained static, instead of revolving!
It is now possible to print images from within Aperture 2, but I am not happy with the colour fidelity, whereas it is possible to produce excellent, natural colour prints using its "minnow" sibling, iPhoto!
My intention is to buy another 3 VR300s to form a 4 drive Raid 0 array for optimum performance, and to store the original 640GB drive as an emergency bootable back-up. I would have ordered the additional VR300s already, but for the fact that there appears to have been a run on them, and currently they are out of stock at all, but the more expensive, UK resellers.
I should be most grateful to receive advice regarding the following questions:
    QUESTION 1:
I have had a look at the RAID setting up facility in Disk Utility and it states: "To create a RAID set, drag disks or partitions into the list below".
If I install another 3 VR300s, can I drag all 4 of them into the "list below" box, without any risk of losing everything I have already installed on the existing VR300?
Or would I have to reinstall the OS, applications and software again?
I mention this, because one of the applications, Personal accountz, has a label on its CD wallet stating that the Licence Key can only be used once, and I have already used it when I installed it on the existing VR300.
    QUESTION 2:
I understand that the failure of just one drive will result in all the data in a Raid 0 array being lost.
Does this mean that I would not be able to boot up from the 4 drive array in that scenario?
Even so, it would be worth the risk to gain the optimum performance provide by Raid 0 over the other RAID setup options, and, in addition to the SE II, I will probably back up all my image files onto a portable drive as an additional precaution.
    QUESTION 3:
Is it possible to create an eDrive partition, using TechTool Pro 5, on the VR300 in bay !?
Or would this not be of any use anyway, in the event of a single drive failure?
    QUESTION 4:
Would there be a significant increase in performance using a 4 x VR300 drive RAID 0 array, compared to only 2 or 3 drives?
    QUESTION 5:
If I used a 3 x VR300 RAID 0 array, and installed either a cloned VR300 or the original 640GB HD in bay 4, and I left the Startup Disk in System Preferences unlocked, would the system boot up automatically from the 4th. drive in the event of a single drive failure in the 3 drive RAID 0 array which had been selected for startup?
Apologies if these seem stupid questions, but I am trying to determine the best option without foregoing optimum performance.

    Well said.
    Steps to set up RAID
Setting up a RAID array in Mac OS X is part of the installation process. This procedure assumes that you have already installed Mac OS 10.1 and the hard drive subsystem (two hard drives and a PCI controller card, for example) that RAID will be implemented on. Follow these steps:
    1. Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. When the disks appear in the pane on the left, select the disks you wish to be in the array and drag them to the disk panel.
    3. Choose Stripe or Mirror from the RAID Scheme pop-up menu.
    4. Name the RAID set.
    5. Choose a volume format. The size of the array will be automatically determined based on what you selected.
    6. Click Create.
Recovering from a hard drive failure on a mirrored array
    1. Open Disk Utility in (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. Click the RAID tab. If an issue has occurred, a dialog box will appear that describes it.
    3. If an issue with the disk is indicated, click Rebuild.
    4. If Rebuild does not work, shut down the computer and replace the damaged hard disk.
    5. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
    6. Drag the icon of the new disk on top of that of the removed disk.
    7. Click Rebuild.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2559
    Drive A + B = VOLUME ONE
    Drive C + D = VOLUME TWO
What you put on those volumes is of course up to you and easy to do.
A system really only needs to be backed up "as needed" like before you add or update or install anything.
/Users can be backed up hourly, daily, weekly schedule
    Media files as needed.
    Things that hurt performance:
    Page outs
Spotlight - disable this for boot drive and 'scratch'
SCRATCH: Temporary space; erased between projects and steps.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StandardRAIDlevels
(normally I'd link to Wikipedia but I can't load right now)
Disk drives are the slowest component, so tackling that has always made sense. Easy way to make a difference. More RAM only if it will be of value and used. Same with more/faster processors, or graphic card.

  • Question regarding cancelation of wireless contract and signing a new one

Hi,  I have a question regarding my contract. My Cell was stolen 2 days ago ( Iphone 5)  had it for about year and 2 months. now I have a dilemma when it comes on getting a new device. the rep told me she can offer me some S... phones for over $200 as a replacement or I to look up Amazon; Ebay and craiglist. I also don't want to pay a retail price for a brand new device. So I was thinking of cancelation of this contract paying the fee and signing up a new contract with a new device like Iphone 5s or Samsung Galaxy. My question is, are there any waiting periods for doing such a thing, or I could do it at the same time, ditch old contract and sign for new one.

I really want to take a closer look at your options, Filip.M. We definitely wouldn't want to see you cancelling out all the great history you have with us already. • Questions regarding creation of vendor in different purchase organisation

    Hi abap gurus .
i have few questions regarding data transfers .
    1) while creating vendor , vendor is specific to company code and vendor can be present in different purchasing organisations within the same company code if the purchasing organisation is present at plant level .my client has vendor in different purchasing org. how the handle the above situatuion .
    2) i had few error records while uploading MM01 , how to download error records , i was using lsmw with predefined programmes .
    3) For few applications there are no predefined programmes , no i will have to chose either predefined BAPI or IDOCS . which is better to go with . i found that BAPI and IDOCS have same predefined structures , so what is the difference between both of them  .

    Hi,
    1. Create a BDC program with Pur orgn as a Parameter on the selection screen
so run the same BDC program for different Put organisations so that the vendors
are created in different Pur orgns.
    2. Check the Action Log in LSMW and see
    3.see the doc
BAPI - BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces) are the standard SAP interfaces. They play an important role in the technical integration and in the exchange of business data between SAP components, and between SAP and non-SAP components. BAPIs enable you to integrate these components and are therefore an important part of developing integration scenarios where multiple components are connected to each other, either on a local network or on the Internet.
BAPIs allow integration at the business level, not the technical level. This provides for greater stability of the linkage and independence from the underlying communication technology.
LSMW- No ABAP effort are required for the SAP data migration. However, effort are required to map the data into the structure according to the pre-determined format as specified by the pre-written ABAP upload program of the LSMW.
The Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) is a tool recommended by SAP that you can use to transfer data once only or periodically from legacy systems into an R/3 System.
More and more medium-sized firms are implementing SAP solutions, and many of them have their legacy data in desktop programs. In this case, the data is exported in a format that can be read by PC spreadsheet systems. As a result, the data transfer is mere child's play: Simply enter the field names in the first line of the table, and the LSM Workbench's import routine automatically generates the input file for your conversion program.
The LSM Workbench lets you check the data for migration against the current settings of your customizing. The check is performed after the data migration, but before the update in your database.
So although it was designed for uploading of legacy data it is not restricted to this use.
We use it for mass changes, i.e. uploading new/replacement data and it is great, but there are limits on its functionality, depending on the complexity of the transaction you are trying to replicate.
The SAP transaction code is 'LSMW' for SAP version 4.6x.
Check your procedure using this Links.

  • If I'm Getting my iPhone an Out-of-Warranty Replacment

If I'm Getting my iPhone an Out-of-Warranty Replacment for a cracked screen, do I need to tell them any information? I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and going to West Edmonton Mall to have an out-of-warranty replacment.

I'm assuming this is being done by Apple. Since you're getting a replacement iPhone, you obviously have to provide the them info they request regarding your broken phone and will have to update your carrier with the new info such as the IMEI #.

  • Warranty replacement shipping issues (Poor Customer Service)

This entire customer service experience has been a complete nightmare.  From mystery hardware problems to a Warranty replacement gone wrong, I'm 100% dissatisfied with HP right now.
This all started when my office printer (LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M27) started showing an error code.  it's been so long ago now, I don't even remember what it WAS, but my entire company of IT professionals couldn't get it to work.  We contacted HP through chat to get a warranty replacement, as we were still covered.  I can understand that they need to ask some questions to rule out certain issues and maybe avoid an unessecary replacement, but we were on this support chat for OVER AN HOUR, being asked "have you tried plugging it back in?  Have you tried removing all the ink cartridges?..."
But the fun didn't stop here, no.  We finally got to set up a warranty exchange, and I checked my chat log... I gave the correct adress.  I got the tracking number and monitored the shipment.  It came in to the UPS facility on a friday, was marked as "incorrect address" and sat, waiting for someone from HP to respond and/ or reach out to us to correct it.  Nobody did, (I never got any emails or calls either), and as of Monday, the printer was HEADED BACK TO HP.
I'm going on 2 weeks now without a printer and I can't get in contact with anybody from HP because my warranty on the current printer sitting, useless, in my office has been "canceled" as soon as they shipped the replacement.  I can't get in a support chat because my warranty is no longer in effect and I don't have the S/N of the new printer to get in either.  I can't email anyone directly.  I tried to dispute the warranty, explained my situation in the notice, and got an email that said "Sorry, you have reached the warranty department.  Contact the correct department", and a link to right back where I started.  I'm being pushed around in circles and I am not amused.
Now what are my options?  Pay $30+ for a phone call?  I need this printer, and I'm not paying a single cent for HP's mistakes.
My suggestion?  Get your act together.  This is entire fiasco is pathetic.

AZRiddle, I hope you're feeling better since being released from the hospital. Even as a big company, we understand that some life changes are unavoidable. I'm sorry to hear that your issue is has still not been addressed after several phone calls to our Customer Service Department. On behalf of our leadership team, I' eager to assist you and address all of your concerns. Please send a private message to me, Lasina_VZW with your account mobile number and I will personally call you. I'm standing by for you.

  • Regarding Warranty of Lumia 930

    Respected Sir/Madam,
I've some question regarding Lumia 930 which I'm asking below,
    1. If I buy Lumia 930 from Australia then will it work in India?
    2. If I buy Lumia 930 from Australia then will I get warranty in India ? And if not then what should I do to get warranty in India ?

93tid is right, VishalRP. In addition to his post, your phone's warranty will only be honored in the country where the phone is intended for sale. Aside from that, variants may affect the availability of services for your phone.

  • Questions regarding chapter markers

I've got a few questions regarding working with chapter markers. First a little background info. I'm working in CS 5.5. I used Dynamic Link to send a Premiere sequence to Encore. In Premiere, I've got another sequence that is an exact duplicate of the original, with just a little text added.
I decided that I need to go back and add chapter markers, so I went through the initial Premiere sequence and added all the Encore Chapter Markers. I'd like all the chapter markers to be consistent in all three locations without having to re-do it manually each time.
Is there any way to bring those markers into Encore withour re-importing the sequence? I kind of figured that was the point of using Dynamic Link, but the markers aren't showing up in Encore.
And then, is there a way to copy those markers within Premiere from one sequence to the other?
Thanks in advance for any help.

(Dear mods: a little overzealous with the thread moving. This had enough to do with Premiere Pro that it could have remained there... and saved me from retyping my reply.)
Is there any way to bring those markers into Encore withour re-importing the sequence?
This part is Encore. In the Encore Timeline containing the PPro sequence you're using with DL, select the sequence/asset, and go to Edit > Update Markers From Source. A warning dialog will pop up about replacing the markers; when you OK it, the markers positions and names will be updated.
And then, is there a way to copy those markers within Premiere from one sequence to the other?
It's not possible to copy and paste markers, but here's a workaround of sorts (assuming your sequences are the same duration and you want the markers at the same times):
Drag the sequence that contains the chapter markers into the sequence that doesn't; because the Encore chapter markers are sequence markers, they'll turn into clip markers when you nest the sequence. Select this nested sequence, and then use the Next (or Previous) Clip Marker (found under Marker > Go to Clip Marker, or with keyboard shortcuts) to jump to each clip marker. When you land on one, add a chapter marker to the sequence; if you don't already, set up a keyboard shortcut for this and it will make adding the markers a breeze. Now, you'll have to add names, if you want them, but at least this will make matching the time much easier.

  • Original Iphone 2g needs an Out-of-Warranty replacement

I have an Original Iphone 2g.  It is broken and needs an Out-of-Warranty replacement.  However, I live in Canada and went to talk to a genius at and Apple store here who told me that because it was never available in Canada he can't touch it. He said I could drive down to the States, but that is quite the mission.  I am just wondering what my options might be besides that?  Can I not just mail it into apple?  I don't want them to charge me $99999.99 for diagnostic fees, mail and then they say a replacement is not possible.
    Thanks,
    JR

The original iPhone was indeed never released in Canada, so you would have to drive to the US for service or send it someone you know in the US who could take it to Apple on your behalf and then return it to you (Apple will not accept out-of-country shipments nor ship the replacement out of the US). You could still get it replaced at an Apple Store for $149 US:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
Going through a third-party shop may be cheaper, but again it may not, depending on what's wrong with the iPhone. In either case I don't know if that old iPhone is worth it. It might be better to put the money toward a new iPhone; you can get a new unlocked 3GS for CA$375 from the Apple Store.
    Regards.

  • Smashed iPhone 4S - Out of warranty replacement

I dropped my iPhone 4S and the screen has stopped working as well as the back being cracked. The phone itself is still working - I've been making calls via Siri; have been recieving texts and can play music etc. I haven't had the phone for very long, but I understand that the damage is not covered by the warranty I still have. I've contacted Apple and they have said I can get a complete replacement, which will be refurbished or 'as new', for £146 if I send my phone to them. My question is, is this worth it?
I assume the replacement will have the same specs. i.e. 16GB; white. But I was wondering what the actual condition of the refurbished phones are like? Do they have scratches etc? As mine was absolutely mint condition before the accident! In your opinion, are refurbs. better than 'brand new' untested phones?
Will I still have the rest of my year's warranty if I get it replaced or will I get a complete year again, or will replacing it void any warranty? As I don't want to get a replacement which has an issue that I didn't create which would usually be covered by the warranty, and not be able to get fixed for free by Apple.
Also, do I get to keep my orignial iPhone box, or do I need to send that off? And how long does the entire process take?
I've been to a phone shop and they said they will replace the screen and the back for £60, however, until they open it up, they do not know if there is any internal damage (which I'm worried about!) - for all I know, I've damaged the camera and who knows what else! As I'm sure if I get it tampered with at a shop, I will void my warranty and won't be able to get it replaced at all by Apple.
    Thank you!

Unauthorised tampering will invalidate your warranty
Apple will sell you an "out of warranty replacement ,like for like
at a cost of £139  in store or £146 for mail in
replacement will take the remainder of original iPhone warranty
or 90 days which ever is longer
refurbished iPhones are as new and you will not know the difference
between refurb and a "brand new iPhone

  • Damaged third party fixed iPhone out of warranty replacement

Okay so the humidity or something yesterday made both my iPad 1 and iPhone 4s screens screw up.
My camera lense fogged up and was all condensation-y so all pics were blurry.
It looks like there is a smudge on the touchscreens. The iPad was typing and click stuff by itself. iPhone keyboard won't let me use the bottom keys in msgs and certain apps so the touchscreen is not responding. iPhone wake/sleep bottom was turning off and on and screenshoting.
It was like the symptoms of water damage except I never dunked them in water or anything and the water damage indicators on iPhone aren't red. I don't know if iPad 1 has water damage indicators.
So right that afternoon I passed apple store on george st, told me they were busy and I had to book an appointment for tommorrow.
I put my iPad in rice last night and it's fine now... Just smudge on the touch screen.
So today I bought my iPhone into the genius bar, hoping to get it fixed or replaced because it's not even 2 years old and if you argue enough the Australia consumer laws blah blah sometimes you can get an out of warranty replacement for free.
By this time, the camera condensation has evaporated and sleep/wake button stopped spazzing but keyboard was still stuffed.
They said they can't do anything, not even offer the $279 replacement, because when I cracked my screen I got it replaced by a third party.
Said it was because the screen is non genuine that my iPhone is acting like this.
Which it isn't, because my iPad also screwed up which has a genuine screen.
    Sorry about the essay.
So how does apple tell if I got the screen fixed or not?
Has anybody gotten apple to fix a third party screen replacement phone?
If my iPad didn't start working again, would they have fixed it?

The genuine Apple module has various identifying marks that are missing from a third-party part.  Apple will not attempt to repair an iDevice that was "fixed" by an end-user, or an unauthorized third-party.
"If my iPad didn't start working again, would they have fixed it?"
Your question is ambiguous but, if you mean "if my iPad failed - not due to accidental damage - and I returned it to Apple without having a third-party muck around with it, would Apple fix it?"  Apple has an out-of-warranty exchange (not repair) iPads, and you'll be charged for it.
