Questions in planning stage

Hi Experts,
These may be basic questions for you. But I have genuine concern on those so I would really appreciate if you can give some information on this.
How can we check if system is single code or MDMP system ? TCPDB doesn't show any entries. Any transaction ?
Whether communication from unicode to non-unicode system can have some issues ? I have a non-unicode landscape in ECC5.0 already at a different geography. In future after my CUUC is over then any issue may arrise from uc to non uc system communication ?
What are the steps to consider before starting actual upgrade (PREPARE) ? Some steps mentioned below, correct me if I am wrong and add more steps if anything missing :-
a. full system backup. Online /offline ?
b. keep interface details
c. note support pack versions, is there any prerequiste that in 4.6C support should be at a certain level or it can be any level. Once we upgrade to ECC5.0 then upto certain level support packs will be by default installed ?
Any other steps ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Mike,
I believe there is lot of things u need to check prior to starting the PREPARE before taking the backup and all what ever u mentioned in u r query..
u need to read the upgrade guide and make note of all the things what ever they required for your upgrade.
but i have done upgrades recently so i thought i can share some information with you. if you are doing upgrade from R/3 4.6c then please concentrate on the below things if you are not doing from 4.6c then please read the guide and make note of all the things.
1) TCPDB table shows 0 entries, Yes there is one work around available for this problem in note  42305 and the work around needs to restart the system. please plan u r down time accordingly.
2) migrating the wokload statistics data as per note 1005238
3) R/3 4.6C Basis and ABAP Support Package 57
4) Chek the JSDK version to run the Upgrade Assistant Server
5)Export the customer-specific entries in table EDIFCT as per note 865142
6) check text Customizing in transaction VOTX as described in Note 900607
7) Execute Report from SAPnote 937389   (COEP)  after upgrade
8) change the permissions of SAPOSCOL
the above all are prerrequisites for the upgrade... read the notes what ever i have mentioned above and try to analyze whether it will suits for your system or not.
and u need to do some pre processing steps like..
1) deletion of old update older than 6 months take the decsion from functional guys
2) deletion of lock entries
3) deletion of old batch inputs older than 6 months take the decision from fuctional guys
4) deletion of obsolete objects
5) deltion of old spool requests
etc etc... please check the upgrade guide and make a complete plan for you upgrade...
and read the below notes for your reference...
1)     821032
2)     525677
3)     1227677
4)     865142
5)     196113
6)     741280
7)     700779
8)     774615
9)     854170
10)     900607
11)     937389
12)     1134872
some of the above information will not be suitable for your environment but read and try to analyze the information and make a plan for your upgrade....
but my advice is to read the Upgrade guide completely....
Hope the above informatio will helps.

  • BAPI to update a delivery from  transportation planning stages

    Hi,
I need a BAPI Relationship between transportation planning stages and  deliveries
    thanks
    Dayana

    Dear John,
Even it it is a bit late, I think I'm facing same issue.
My target is to use QM notification combined with functional location object (normally part of PM/CS modules).
I did customised my own QM notification with link to functional location.
It is working fine within SAP ERP 6.
Now I want to use BAPI to create notification : BAPI_QUALNOT_CREATE.
Unfortunatly, import parameters based on structure BAPI2078_NOTHDRI does not contain filed TPLNR for functional location.
Within the BAPi a call to function QQM_MAP_EXT_TO_INT is done.
Within this function, mapping between RIQS5 and BAPI2078_NOTHDRI is done.
Structure already RIQS5 contains filed TPLNR Functional location ; if field TPLNR is filled then the BAPI is taking care of the update.
    I think I need to :
    1) Add field TPLNR functional location to BAPI2078_NOTHDRI
    2) Generate mapping MAP2I_BAPI2078NOTHDRI_RIQS5 using transaction BDBD
And then it should work fine.
    What do you think ?

    Q. if you have an Employee class with related EmployeeSubordinate and
EmployeeSalaryHistory classes, should these all be in the same plan?
A It is better to have them in the same plan.It depends on the design
    you have
Q Why should the Managers be separated from their business classes?
A Managers are usually service objects which might require different
    resources.
These managers when deployed might be required by several other
    applications.
Seperating them as a different plan will help in just using one
    installed partition to be
Used by different applications (refer about Reference Partition)
Q If you have the Database managers separate, what scope does each DB
    manager cover?
A It is better to have the DB managers in user scope.
It depends on the numbers of users, u have for the system.
Since u are talking about 100 tables. It's a huge system.
It also depends on the user licenses u have for the backend.
Take care that u use proper load balancing of DB Managers for the
    system.

    Hi there,
We are in the middle of designing the structure of a new system.
I have read/heard that it is best to break down the plans into the
    following categories:
    Business Classes
    Managers/Services
    Clients
I have a few questions about this structure:
Should related business classes be grouped together in Plans? E.g. if
you have an Employee class with related EmployeeSubordinate and
EmployeeSalaryHistory classes, should these all be in the same plan?
Why should the Managers be separated from their business classes?
E.g. if there is an EmployeeMgr service which deals with anything to do
with the Employee business class, why separate them in different
plans? If you need the manager to access the class, you will always
    need both.
Some of the Forte documentation talks about "Policy" managers and
"Database" managers. How do the functions of these managers differ
for a simple CRUD (Create Read Update Delete) class?
If you have the Database managers separate, what scope does each
DB manager cover? I.e. do you have one for the entire database (over
100 tables in our case), or do you break it down by sub-system?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

  • End of contract questions (Data plan and upgrade eligibility)

    Hi All,
I found another thread also titled "End of contract questions" and it was very helpful but I want to make sure I'm not mistaken in any way.  Here's my scenario:
    2 Line Plan
    ME (primary): 2-year contract, unlimited Data (10/15/10 - 10/15/12)
    WIFE: 1-year contract, unlimited data (10/15/10 - 10/15/11)
I signed her up for a 1-year contract on the advice of the Verizon rep that was helping us.  It ended up netting an additional cost of $70-100 (I forget exactly) but it was worth it in my opinion because I knew that one of us would be able to get a new phone in 1 year as opposed to 2.
So here are the specific questions:
    1.  Verizon has done away with 1-year contracts.  This means that whenever my wife goes in to renew her contract (and get a new device), she will need to sign a 2 year contract, correct?  All further questions will be posed based on a "yes" answer to this one.
    2.  Assuming she has to sign a 2-year contract, will she still be able to retain her unlimited data plan?
    3.  Assuming she signs up for a 2-year contract, will she still be able to get "loyalty" pricing or whatever they're calling it now (used to be "new every 2")?  Is she even eligible for anything since she's not the primary on the line?
    4.  In the other thread titled "End of contract questions..." it was mentioned that "The loyalty discount expires 6 months after it becomes available -- so 2 months after your contract ends".  Is this correct?
    5.  Currently, if I go to MyVerizon and hover over the "?" next to my number and "Eligible for a discount" it says:  "You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 6/15/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount. "  I intend to wait for my line as it still has a year on the contract however when I do the same for my wife's line it says:  You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing."  Does it not mention the Loyalty discount because it's not applicable to a secondary line?  Or perhaps because it's implied since she's technically out of her contract period?
I'm trying to make heads or tails of this.  At the time, it sounded like a great idea (her on a 1-year, me/primary on a 2-year).  I'm hoping it will work out for us so that every year, one of us will be eligible for a new line.  I'm only concerned with the unlimited data aspect being that she's going to be going from a 1-year to a 2-year and also the actual loyalty/discount aspect.
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!!

Yes, either a 2yr contract or no contract and pay full retail price of the phone.

Not eligible because she is 1)not the primary line and 2)1yr contracts weren't eligible in the first place.

  • Have dead phone, cannot sign-in b/c of Secret Question. Plan head is daughter (out of country). No access for plan members and no access if phone dead. Need to learn deals, buy a phone, etc. ADVICE?

HOW CAN I REPLACE MY DEAD PHONE;  BUY A NEW ONE, ADDING TO FAMILY PLAN WHEN I CAN"T EVEN SIGN-IN?
I hope this community can tell me tell how I can  get through the Verizon sign-in process soI can buy a phone to replace my currently dead one.
I am a member of a Family Plan run by my daughter (out of the country for a week)and even with her ID and password, Verizon does not accept my sign-in attempt when I could not answer her Secret Question.   With a dead phone, I cannot get from Verizon including a PIN.  I can use my husband's phone (also in the Familhy Plan) but Verizon does not allow access to anyone but the registered plan administrator.  My phone number-- with decades of phone bills from Verizon --- is "not recognized. "  Huh?
I am so frustrated.  HELP!!  How can I access Verizon:
    --to buy a phone and add to Family plan;
    --delete dead phone from plan;
--learn the gory financial details of a contract, and
--arrange for that new phone to be shipped to me.
I had tried the live chat, but I had to leave the page to locate my daughter's phone number.  Since I never actually type it out, and since it was locked inside my dead phone, I had to reach out to my family so they could look ion their contact phone lists.  And now I cannot regain access Chasmine, my chat person.
I would be grateful for any advice.   I am without a working phone and beginning to believe I shall remain that way.  I would walk away from Verizon except it would work against my family and their contracts.  However,  I have learned just how powerful an essential company can be when it takes advantage of people dependent on its "services."
Meanwhile, the reality is I need to know how to deal with Verizon and get a phone.  All thoughts are welcome and appreciated. I cannot even find a phone number to try to talk to a Verizon person.   Thank you

  • Questions on Planning Folders

I want to include multiple layouts in a planning folder.  Preferred method is GUI execution, but if the requirement can be achieved using web only then please let me know.
    1. Per my understanding, if I have separate input and output areas then the folder can not be executed in Excel.  Is this correct?
    2. To use excel, I am using folders with only input area.  If I put multiple layouts under this input area and execute the planning folder then each of these template is appearing as a push button instead of tabs in an excel sheet.  Is it possible to view all the templates under the input area as separate tabs in one single excel workbook?  Hope I am clear with the question.
    3. I have 2 input templates each with 50 columns.  Users want another "display only" template that shows 50 columns that are calculations from these 2 input templates.  An example:
    input template 1:
    char1 char2 10 15 25
    input template 2:
    char1 char2 .5 1.2 1.1
    "Display only" template:
    char1 char2 10.025 15.06 25.055
Each of the column in "Display only" template is obtained by multiplying the corresponding column of input template 2 by 0.05 and adding the result to the corresponding column of input template 1.  Is this possible?  I know that I can use an additional key figure to do this calculation and then use it in the display template but is it the only way out?
I will assing points to all the useful inputs.

    Hi,
A little different answer for your first question. If you are using excel in place on GUI then separate input and output areas are not possible. If you are using excel on web then separate areas for input and output are possible create, the only catch is the output layout is not disabled on it's own you will have to create it as a display only layout.
    thanks

  • 10.7 ERP Question on Planned Shipment Date and Planned Delivery Date

    Hi All,
I have a 10.7 ERP question related to Planned shipment date and Planned Delivery Date which are on shipment::released event.
Are these held and displayed at the shipset / shipment level on ERP database
and forms or are they held & displayed at theline level ?
This question is specific to Oracle ERP 10.7
    Thanks,
    SM

I do not believe 10.7 documentation is available online anymore. Release 11 documentation is available at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A60725_05/r11_doc.htm - the functionality closely resembles 10.7

  • Questions about Planning Cost Center - Cost Element

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a solution to this customer requirement.
We need to do a transfer between cost center/cost element to another cost center/cost element for a planned value. This is possible using 2 time the KP06 transaction (first adding on the receiver, then decrease on the sender).
We need to do this in only one CO document or with a unique transaction (like KB11N for primary costs). How to do this?
Another question: we try to modify the text of the document (COBK-BLTXT) but we can't find the appropriate transaction (KABP is only display). How to do this task?
    Thanks
    Regards.

    HI,
First Of all lets not have a fight
    Now the solution
    In Ksv1
Whne u define the segment header in the below tab U define the receiver rule ..
In the Variable portion type define " Planned cost"
Also dont forget to make the tick mark to Planned value in the sender header
then enter the receiver mention the receiver cost object

  • Question about Cluvfy stage -pre dbinst

I'm putting together a three-node RAC with Oracle 11gR2 under Solaris 10. I've installed the Grid Infrastructure and checked it out with 'crsctl check crs' and 'srvctl status asm'. All looks good. The next step is 'clufvy stage -pre dbinst -n all -osdba dba verbose'. Now there is a disconcerting inconsistency.
When I run the pre-db-installation check from Node 1, cluvfy returns complete success, no worries. However, when I run the same command from Nodes 2 and 3 -- where I would naively expect to get the same complete success -- cluvfy reports failure. It says that CRS is not installed on any of the nodes.
Does any expert here know if this inconsistency represents some inconsistency in node configuration that I need to address before proceeding with the installation? Or is it just not useful to run cluvfy on Nodes 2 and 3?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Thanks for the quick attention. Yes, I have checked reachability. Not only was the installation of Grid Infrastructure from Node 1 to Nodes 2 and 3 successful, but I also used crs_stat to confirm that from each node the other two nodes appear online (I assume that's what you mean by 'checking reachability').
The error output from cluvfy is about /opt/oraInventory/inventory.xml, which is present on Node 1 but not on the other two nodes. Since Grid Infrastructure installation succeeded, I'm surprised that the file isn't found. I am going to open an SR about this and mark this question as answered.
Since you asked, here are the details of the error from cluvfy. Again: there is no error on Node 1, but on 2 and 3, when I run './cluvfy stage -pre dbinst -n all -osdba dba -verbose', all tests pass up to 'Checking CRS integrity...' and then there is a series of errors, which I've copied and pasted below:

  • Question on Planning File entry

    Hi all,
Whenever a material master is changed with relevant MRP data, there will be a planning file entry for NETCH, NETPL. And after the MRP run, it will be reset. So I would like to know whether the materials which are reset (there is not entry for NETCH, NETPL) will be considered for the next MRP run. When i see the list in MD21, i can see the materials without NETCH, NETPL.
So I would like to know when you run the total MRP (MD01), the materials which are reset will be planned or not? Or should we manually create the planning file entry?
    Regards
    Brijesh

    Dear,
While running MRP, system will consider material which have planning file entry.
So I would like to know when you run the total MRP (MD01), the materials which are reset will be planned or not? Or should we manually create the planning file entry?
system won't consider the material in MRP run.
NO need to create planning file entry manually ( because that material does n't have any changes related to MRP, so if u create manually also, system won't plan)

  • Question about planning using serialization point in transaction S2L

    Hello colleagues!
Iu2019ve try to implement the supply of production line (supply area) just in sequence. R/3 received dependent requirements and backflushes of serialization point behind target Supply Area from APO.
Then I got a few dependent demands with indicator u201CXu201D in u201Crequirement is serializedu201D field in transaction S2L. I started the automatic planning  but replenishment proposal was created to cover all dependent demands. from the selection horizon  (with ind. u201CXu201D and without ). But I need to cover dep. demands only with ind. X in u201Crequirement is serializedu201D field. I looked through SAP help and SPRO but I couldnu2019t find helpful information.
Please, help me to find solution.
    Thanks.
    Ivan.

Thanks for the feedback. I followed the link but I guess I just don't understand about the extended file system. Is HFS+ the same as Mac OS extended (Journaled).
    Basically, yes.
I understand that I guess that case sensitive means just that, but what is the difference between journaled and extended? Does it mena that a log file is only saved for the journaled system?
When a filesystem is journaled, all changes to it are written to a log.
Do most people just format as Extended without journaled? I am about to reformat my iMac and install Leopard on there and I was wondering if I should format using the extended or the extended with journal?
Using the journaling option slightly decreases the amount of space on the drive usable by you and increases the chance of recovering data from the drive if a problem occurred. If you want, you can use the Disk Utility to turn it on and off without erasing the drive again.

Hello my is David Charlot and I'm trying to use a NI 7344 motion controller and a MID-7604 motor driver to control a microscope XY stage. I want to make sure I am controlling the stage correctly. The manufacturer told me that the stage has a 2mm pitch lead screw and has a linear encoder resolution of 2nm/pulse. I don't know how that translates to MAX's  steps/revolution and encoder counts per revolution. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
    David C.

The breakdown of these stages goes something like this:
The stepper is most likely a 1.8 deg/step standard type.  The encoder will have XXX pulses/revolution and is connected to a second shaft coming directly from the motor.  While the stage has a 2mm pitch (2mm travel/revolution of screw), this gives XXX pulses pre 2mm of travel.  There is probably a gearing ratio, most likely a worm gear.  Worms ratios are usaully in the range of 20:1 to 100:1, giving a XXX*100pulses/(2mm travel).  With the 2nm/ pulse reported by the stage supplier,  and assumin a 100:1 gear ratio, the encoder has XXX=10^4 pulses/rev.  This is incredibly high.  I have never heard of anything higher than 2000 pulses/rev.
I suggest contacting the supplier and asking for specs on the encoder itself, which will be reported in pulses/count ( or counts/rev), not in length/pulse.  This is the number you specify in MAX.
    For the steps/rev:
MAX will read the microstep setting set on the 7604 and will assume a standard 1.8 deg stepper, which is 200step/rev.  So, if you set the microstep on the 7604 to 10x, the 7344 controller will read 10*200=2000 steps/rev.  Now, if you want to include gear ratios, you must manually multiply it in MAX.  Normally, this is not done, since max velocities are specifed at the motor.  If you use a rotation stage, then you might want to multiply it in.  It's a matter of taste.

  • Question : Different planning strategies in  SAP PP

    Hi PP gurus ,
    Help me in understanding purpose with suitable example different planning strategies say  Strategy 10 , 11 , 20 , 30 , 26 , 40 and 50 . Find below an
example for which how the above said strategies will act wrt .
Ex :  You have  Unrestricted stock of  say X  = 100 pcs  and stock in quality
             inspection  is X = 10 pcs .
             You have  PIR ( X ) = 100 pcs , Production order( X ) = 50 pcs ,
             Sales order( X )  = 150 pcs , Production order against sales order (X) =150
             pcs , Inprocess (X) = 30 Units , sales order stock (X) = 25 units .
           Thanx in advance
           Regards,
           Raj

    Raj,
Have you gone through the help doc for planning strategies:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/cb/7f9b7043b711d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
    In overall terms:
    In make to stock - 10, 11, 40
In MTS the general stock and general prod orders in warehouse are considered incalculating the net requirement. The diff between 10 and 11 is that in 11 irrespective of Warehouse stock prod takes place as per Planned Ind requirements. But in 10 the warehouse stock is considered.
    In MTO (20/ 50):
The sales order stock and prod order w.r.to sales order aone is considered.
Hope this will give you an overall idea.
    regards
    ram

  • Query design question: multiple plan versions in single column

I have a standard financial statement query with current month "Actual" restricted to Value Type 10 and current month "Plan" using Value Type 20.  This scenario is repeated for year-to-date Actual and Plan along with $ and % variance calculations.   Until recently we were only loading plan version so I had no reason to restrict the plan to version 0 Actual/Plan.
We are now loading an alternate plan version, Version 1, and I would like to report both versions in the same query.  I though I could just bring in "Version" as a Free Characteristic to easily switch between version 0 and 1 but that didn't work as expected.
With "Version" as a filter item my Plan amount will report both plan versions combined which is fine and when "Version" is filtered to the alternate version 1 Plan correctly displays the alternate amount, in both cases Actual is unchanged and displays correctly.   The problem is when I change the filter to just show Version 0 which is defined as "Actual/Plan".  When version 0 is selected the Plan amount displays correctly but ALL Actual values disappear.
No Version filter set = Actual/Plan and Plan Version 1 combined correctly.   Actual displays correctly.
Filter set to 1 and 0  = Actual/Plan and Plan Version 1 combined correctly.   Actual displays correctly.
Filter set to 1 = Plan Version 1 only.  Actual displays correctly.
Filter set to 0 = Plan Version 0 only.  No actual data is displayed.
Is there a better way of displaying multiple plan versions in a query or will I have to add additional columns for each plan version?
    Thanks for the ideas,
    Jeff

Thanks Amit that was the help I needed.
I added "Version" to every actual Key Figure and made each a Constant Selection.  I also added Version as a Free Characteristic of the query for a filter.
By adding Version to each Key Figure no matter which plan version I select in the Version filter Actual data alway remains correct and just my Plan column changes to show the plan version I selected.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jeff
