Questions on JarEntry and File

Question

Hi,
I am wondering what a JarEntry represents? All files and directories inside a JarFile?
I can get the number of JarEntries using the following:
int numOfEntries = jarFile.size();Then if I extract this jar and use a small program to recursively visit all files and directories,
I get a different number than that of total JarEntries.
I have to check the total number of files and directories after a jar file is programmatically extracted
so that I can make sure all contents are extracted.
Here is a function I used to visit all files and directories once a jar is extracted:
void traverseAllDirsAndFiles(File dir, int[] retval )
          if (dir.isDirectory())
               String[] children = dir.list();
               retval[0] = retval[0] + children.length;
               for (int i = 0; i < children.length; i++)
                    traverseAllDirsAndFiles(new File(dir, children), retval);
I am just confused.

This line is suspect:
traverseAllDirsAndFiles(new File(dir, children), retval);I don't see anywhere that you are setting a new value for dir, which means it can handle only one level.
Here is a working recursive file list program. I suggest that you modify it to your needs and use it instead.import java.io.File;
