Questions on SSRS migration options.

Greetings. I've done some googling and still have some questions on SSRS migrations.
I need to migrate three windows 2003/ 2005 SSRS instances to a windows 2008R2/ SSRS 2012 instance.
I was eyeballing the Installation Wizard referenced
here. Per this doc, this is quite possible:
Editions and Versions You can upgrade
SQL Server 2012 Setup provides upgrade support for the following earlier editions of Reporting Services:
SQL Server 2012.
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services SP4………..
Note that this doc doesn’t mention anything about OS specific versions.
This doc also mentioned running the Upgrade Advisor, which I was planning on doing. However, before doing this I then stumbled upon
this doc, which clearly states:
Prerequisites for installing and running Upgrade Advisor are as follows:
Windows Vista SP1, or SP2, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
So the way it looks is that I can do the actual upgrade using the Installation Wizard, but I can’t run the Upgrade Advisor due to the OS being 2003. This seems odd.
Can someone please confirm/ deny this?
Thanks in advance! ChrisRDBA

You could run the 2008 R2 version...
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144256(v=sql.105).aspx
The differences between 2008 R2 and 2012 are relatively minor, in fact, they look exactly the same...  I agree with you though, the 2012 should work...

  • Hyper V Cluster Migration - Options

    Hello,
I have a Server 2012 4 node cluster that i need to migrate to new hardware along with all the VMs. The new hardware will be a 2 node Server 2012 R2 cluster. Can i please have some advice on my migration options? I am using iSCSi SAN storage but have limited
available to make available to the new cluster as it is all being used by the current one.
I was hoping I could add the host to the existing cluster but that does not appear to be the case. So i think my only options now would be to either use copy cluster roles wizard or import/export process, found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn486792.aspx
If I use the copy cluster roles wizard should i setup the storage on the new hosts, as in make it available via iscsi initiator, before i create the cluster? I just have concerns about giving access to the same CSV storage that is currently live on the current
cluster. I am using SCVMM 2012 for management. Many Thanks. Carl.

Hi Alexey, thanks for your reply and sorry for my delay. I ended up setting up the new cluster, giving it some storage and live migrating the VMs - this was taking a long time so basically completed what you explained above - i used the copy cluster roles
wizard, turned off the VMs on the old cluster, bought the CSV online on the new cluster then turned the machines on. It was actually pretty much issue free which was a nice surprise. Yes there was also a chunk of downtime but luckily I managed to get approval.
    Thanks, Carl.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • ORA-10827: database must be opened with MIGRATE option

    Hi,
We are trying to migrate an Oracle 8.1.7 database to an Oracle 9i(9.2) database. I moved all the database files to the appr folder and I created a new instance using:
oradim -new -sid PROD -intpwd Oracle -startmode a -pfile C:\oracle\OraDb\Neuropace\initPROD.ORA.
I checked the alter log file and I get the following error:
ORA-10827: database must be opened with MIGRATE option.
How should one go about migrating a database(different versions). I went ahead with the migration. I opened the database using
    alter database open resetlogs migrate.
But when i log into the database, I get an internal code error.
    Any pointers?.

You must not open normally your database after an upgrade, in short the method is
    1) startup migrate
    2) run the upgrade script (which one depends on your old database version)
    For step-by-step instructions see
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96530/upgrade.htm#1009200
'alter database open resetlogs migrate' is only applicable to upgrades from version 7 to 9.2, hopefully your database is not corrupted now.

  • Questions about Trex migration

    Hello experts,
I have some questions about Trex migration.
We have to migrate our Trex instances to another Hardware type (and operating system type).
Is it somehow possible to export the Trex database (indexes etc.) on the source Trex, and then import them on the new target Trex? I ask because i found another thread in here saying that this is only possible if the source and target OS is the same, and if the source and target Trex is the same version, I donu2019t know if this is true though?
Or is it easier to just install a new Trex, and then let it rebuild index etc.? And is this a feasible way to do it?
As you can see i don't know much about Trex, so any hints and good advice is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kenneth

    Hi Kenneth,
there are different approachs for migartion TREX.
    a) Install TREX on a new machine. And export the indexes and afterwards import the indexes. This is possible even you do not have the same TREX version. Because otherwise if you only want to upgrade your revision you just start the sapinst or install.sh at the same machine.
    b) Intstall TREX on a new machine and re-index all.
But keep in mind TREX is not BIA. Even perhapts this is the same SAP software  component.
So re-index could take about days.... not only 10 min. This depends on the type of objekts which should be indexed and of the volumne.
As well it is not recommanded in general to switch on delta. For BIA of cause but not in generel for TREX.
    Best regards

  • Questions on JMS migration

The documentation on the JMS migration with weblogic 7.0 is not clear on the entire
lifecycle of JMS/JTA migration. Here is the setup I have. There are two nodes
in the cluster n1 and n2. There are ditributed destinations and they reside on
both n1 and n2. To test the JMS migrations, I bring down n1 (stop the managed
server). I migrate JMS first to n2 and then JTA to n2. Is this the correct order
in which JMS migration should occur? The application runs fine after the migration.
After the succesful migration of JTA n1 is still the current owner of the JTA
service. The current owner of the JMS service is n2 though. So to restart n1 and
bring it back into the cluster, I migrate the JMS data of n1 from n2 to n1. Should
I do this JMS migration after I start the node n1 or before I restart node n1?

              Hi
Answer to your first question is, if there are any pending transactions associated
with the JMS messages, migrate JMS first, then JTA recovery service. Otherwise,
              order does not matter.
ANswer to your second questiosn is, after the successful migration of the JTA
recovery service, the destination server (n2 in your case) should be owner of
that service. If you still see the source server (n1 in your case) as the owner,
then propably the JTA migration did not succeed.
You can verify that with boot "n1" with migrating JTA service back from n2 to
n1 and see if the "n1" server boot fails, since there is no JTA recovery service
              currently available on n1.
If it "does" boot then first JTA migration (form n1 to n2) did not succeed.
Answer to your third question is, JMS migration can be performed irrespective
of the destination/source server running state. That is you can migrate JMS when
either or both servers are up or down. But JTA migration, the source server has
              to be down.
              Hope this helps.

  • Few questions about OWB migration 10g---- 11g and UIODs

I am curretly migrating OWB repository from 10g to 11g.
Both repositories are on the same database.
We just have one single Project in our Repository. It is actually(preinstalled) MY_PROJECT renamed into something else. So it has the UOID of the "default" MY_PROJECT but of course, physical and business names are different.
Because we renamed MY_PROJECT, complications occured when we first tried to do the repository upgrade the recommended way, with repository assistant. During the upgrade processes , the error came that the objects with same UOIDs but different names exist.
Obviously, MY_PROJECT from the 10g repository collided with the new, preinstalled, MY_PROJECT in the (almost) empty 11g repository/workspace.
Also, MY_PROJECT in 11g workspace has exactly the same UOID as the one created in 10g repository.
I was told by Oracle support that this was a bug-but they do not see it as high priority, so we had to do workaround --the migration of the repository on 11g.
Now my first Question: Was it completely insane to use MY_PROJECT for your actual ongoing Project? We never had any other problem with this constallation.I also noticed in forums that people indeed use MY_PROJECT for their work.
The second question: Has anybody , ever, seen the same problem, when trying to upgrade to 11g ?
The migration procedure is as follows:
-install 11g Workspace with Repository Assistant
-Export locations and data from 10g repository
-Import locations and data in 11g repository- thé update option -matching on UOID..so we do not get problem with MY_PROJECT
    -register locations in11g repository
    -deploy all mappings and workflows
Now, this all works fine..and our new 11g repository runs without problem..
I am still puzzled by few things :
New 11g repository is almost empty apart from MY_PROJECT and DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION. Now, MY_PROJECT in 11g has the same UOID as in oracle 10. But DAFAULT_CONFIGURATION in 11g has different UOID from DAFAULT_CONFIGURATION in 10g. It is always the same UIOD for every new 11g installation (I've upgraded repository on many databases).
Now 3rd question: Is there any particular reason why DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION  has different UOID in 11g and MY_PROJECT hast the same UOID ? Is there any logic behind it -that I fail to grasp ?
Another thing. I said that I am importing complete Project in the new repository with update option with matching on UIOD. I should get a problem with DAFAULT_CONFIGURATION, I thought, since it is in the full export of the Project and DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION has different UOID than in 11g repository.
But I did not get the problem at all.Default Configuration was simply skipped during the import - visible from the import log.
Therefore 4th question : Why didnät OWB try to import DEAFULT_CONFIG? Is it "internal" object and as such cant't be changed ?
The reason I am so obsessed with UOIDs is that we have automated release procedure (between development, test and production repositores) which is based on comparing UOIDs.
Therefore a s slight trace of concearn on my side, because the DEAFULT CONFIG now has different UOIDs than before. But on the other side, we just propagate mappings and workflows between repositories - I do not see why the default config should matter here .
Thank very much in advance for any answers/suggestions/ideas and comments!

  • Newbie Question re stacks, import options, & color labels

I probably shouldn't just group together multi-topic questions, but creating a new topic for each one seemed wasteful. I'm just starting to migrate to Lightroom from PSE, so I have a few questions that I couldn't find answers to.
    1. Can I change the color of the color labels? For example I find that the blue color label does not stand out very well with the gray background, so I'd like to make it a deeper blue.
    2. Is there an import option (when importing from removable device) to delete the photos (automatically) after copied to disk and imported?
(yes, I know I can manually do it, I'm just lazy)
    3. Is there a way to run the auto stack feature without losing already grouped/stacked photos. For example if I have photos A, B, and C and A and B are already grouped, then I run the auto stack with a time setting such that B would pick up C, I want it to add C to A and B, not create a new group with just B and C. AND/OR is there a way to run the auto stack on just the photos I have selected? I did a lot of testing and it seems like I can run it on an entire folder of photos or my entire catalog, but not just, say 20 selected photos.
    4. Is there any option that I can turn on that will automatically put the virtual copy on top of the stack when I create one? (again I'm just being lazy)
Finally, sort of a general usage/workflow question .. I've done a bit of reading on virtual copies and snapshots and I still can't decide when one is better than the other ... they seem to basically have the same function - to create non-destructive copies of an original photo that can than later be exported or used. Any thoughts on how people are using them or when one is better than the other?
    Thanks! Kelly

Thank you both for the answers/advice.
One more quickie, I was wondering if anyone knew how Lightroom 2 was going to be sold, ie for owners of 1.4 will it be a paid upgrade or free? I ask because I am still in the trial version of lightroom (was doing some testing to see if i wanted to stay in PSE or move to lightroom), and I have decided that I would like to move to lightroom, but there are some features in version2 that I already know I will want, so I'm debating about waiting for that release (to save money), unless it would be a free upgrade for owners of 1.4.
John - why is it better to copy from the card reader to disk then import into lightroom? Just curious as I have been doing quite a bit of research in last couple of days and it seems that a lot of people use that type of workflow (first copying to one folder on hdd, then importing, and then maybe moving later on). In PSE I used to always just use the Adobe interface to copy then import in "one step" (I say one step, but it was obvious that adobe first copied the images then imported them). Anyway I'll probably do as you suggest but just like to get into knowing exactly why I'm doing it a certain way.
Andrew - good to hear, that is actually what I had started doing, so it's good to know that it's a "proven" workflow.
    Thanks!

  • Different migration options with OWB.

    Hi there,
We are very new to Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) version 10.2.0.3. We are Oracle E-Business Suite users. We will be loading data into 10gOLAP cubes via Analytical Workspace Manager and will be using Discoverer for OLAP for reporting.
We are considering various options with OWB migration from DEV -> UAT -> PROD.
Our current thinking is to install OWB in our DEV environment only. PL/SQL packages that are generated in DEV and tested will be migrated to UAT for execution.
Results of the execution of the PL/SQL packages in UAT will be subjected to users testing. Upon successful UAT testing by the users, we then migrate the PL/SQL code to PROD for execution.
What are the short comings of the above arrangement as compare to installing OWB on all three environments.
Also what are the benefits of using Workflow Manager as compared to using concurrent manager to submit our OWB PL/SQL packages?
Please share your thoughts on the above.
    Thank you in advance

Sorry, but as you deduced, you cannot use branching in tests.
A test is expected to be a linear progression of slides,
where all scored slides have answers. If the user never sees some
    questions, they cannot get 100%.
You might want to submit a feature request to specify that
only answered questions be evaluated when determining quiz passing
(or whatever terminology best fits what you'd like to see).
    You can so so here:

  • How do I make a learner attempt a question, without having the option of a 'Next' button?

    Hi,
Is it possible to display the feedback option (learner selected) from a multiple choice Question by clicking the next (or previous) page button?
I have set the progress to the next page, with the option 'Attempts - 1' from the Assessment page. The objective of this exercise was to make the learner attempt the given multiple choice question, without the option of going back or forward during their first attempt. The first time the learner comes across this page, he/she has to answer the question to move forward. Once he/she has answered the question (right or wrong), then he/she will be able to navigate to the next and previous pages.
Is there any functionality where we can restrict the learner in taking up the test (compulsory), before navigating to the next page (using 'Next' button)?
    Thank you,
    Emayavaramban M E

Don't show the Next button, but drag it under the Clear button if you have that one. Next button is really meant to skip an answer (which you do not want to allow) and during Review to make navigation possible. Since the Clear button will not be there during Review, then the Next button will become visible. Next is the new label (formerly it was labeled Skip). I explained some functionality of question slides in this post:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/question-question-slides-in-captivate
It was written in the CP5.5 time, so you'll still see the label 'Skip' that is now replaced by 'Next'

  • Verizon iPhone - mobile hotspot and other questions about the data options

I just ordered the Verizon iPhone. Can anyone explain the options here:
    1) Unlimited corporate email & Web (business and personal email) vs. Unlimited email and web for smartphones (personal email) - what's the difference?
    2) "3G Mobile Hotspot 2GB" - does this mean that there's no way I can share my 3G connection via wifi without paying the extra $20/month?? How about tethering to a single computer (USB, BT, or WiFi) - does that also require this extra option?
    3) equipment protection - what's the difference between Extended Warranty, Asurion Wireless Phone Protection, and Total Equipment Coverage?
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hi
Regarding your #2 question; yes, you must pay $20/mo to use the 3G Hotspot aspect of the iPhone, same as with any of Verizon's phones that offer this feature such as the Droid X, HTC phones, etc. And, there is NO additional charge to tether it to your computer; it's $20/mo regardless. You can still use the iPhone's WiFi feature to search the web which is part of the regular data plan. We're only talking about paying the $20/mo for the "up to 5 devices" jumping on your phone as a hot spot.
I'm an Apple fan, have my MacBook Pro, but my phone is a Droid X. I've been a Verizon member since a year before they became Verizon. Additionally, I am part of the Verizon & Motorola test forum; testing new software updates as they come along.
Something you should know about Verizon's 3G Hot Spot feature; it has issues. Those of us in the Motorola & HTC forums have experienced identical issues with regard to the 3G Hot Spot feature; it disconnects every 2 minutes, even when you are actively surfing the net. Verizon & Motorola Support have been very helpful to provide what they believe are fixes, including: changing the channel, hard resets, clearing cache, etc. It does not work. Most of us believe, this is NOT a Verizon issue, but a phone maker issue.
I also have Verizon's MiFi 2200. It costs $59/mo and is purely a hot spot device; again up to 5 devices. I use it at home, for my lap top and for those who need connectivity. It outperforms the 3G hot spot feature of the Motorola & HTC phones by leaps & bounds, and I suspect it will out perform the 3G hot spot feature on the iPhone. Additionally, you get 5GB of download with the MiFi which Verizon is planning on offering increases to 8GB & 10GB. There is NO plan to increase the 2GB download limitation on the 3G Hot spot of the iPhone & other phones, and anyone who does basic software downloads & pics, knows 2GBS is not a lot space.
So, I would recommend not paying the $20 until this is resolved. If you do, you could pay $39 more for a total of $59/mo for the MiFi, download the software to you home computer & notebook, and end up canceling your home internet service. I did this and have saved $70/mo in my total utilities.
One other important note: Verizon's VZManager Software for their phones & MiFi. If you did pay the $20/mo for the iPhone and decided to tether to your USB port (for power while using) and you were to use the 3G hot spot feature, it will NOT work on 64 Bit computers, regardless if you are using the WiFi feature or directly using VZManager. The MiFi has this same issue. It will only work on 32 Bit when tethered. So, you'd have to reboot your computer to 32 Bit, if you have that ability. On a Macbook Pro, simply restart holding down the "3" & "2" keys.
I have no idea why Verizon can't simply upgrade the firmware, even recent firmware upgrades have not resolved this. Most new computers are 64 Bit now.
Despite this, I use my MiFi 100% untethered and carry my charge cord in my bag as it also works on my Droid, and I presume they may do the same for the iPhone; reduces the need for multiple power cords.
I really looked forward to the 3G feature of the Motorola & HTC phones, but honestly, it's just not there yet; mine was slower than Dial Up, and I'm not kidding.

  • Questions in the migration between Forest A to Forest B

    Hello Team,
We have the following environment and questions, please advise.
    Environment
Forest A with the following roles:
    Domain Controller
    Dirsync
    ADFS
    ADFS Proxy
Exchange 2013 onpremise server with no mailboxes hosted in it.
Has trust between Forest A and Office 365 tenant.
All the mailboxes has already been moved to office 365 tenant.
    Requirement
Want to bring in Forest B
Then going to migrate all the users from Forest A to Forest B
Then going to decommission Forest A and create trust between Forest B and office 365 Tenant.
    Questions
What are the implications and how long do we need to schedule downtime?
    Will there be any impacts?
How & when can I manage (enable/disable) Dirsync, ADFS, ADFS proxy?
How can I transfer these roles (Dirsync, ADFS, ADFS proxy) to Forest B?
Please advise. Thank you for your time.

    Hi Balamurugan,
According to your posting, I noticed that all mailboxes for users in ForestA have been moved to Exchange Online (Office 365) and there is no mailbox in Exchange 2013.
Sorry that I am not familiar with the Office 365 tenant. I am not sure about the impacts for mailbox in Exchange Online when you migrate all users from ForestA to ForestB. I suggest we can ask a question in Exchange Online for more suggestion:

  • Migration Options???

Im trying to migrate all my stuff from my imac to my new macbook. Ive tried connecting the two via a ethernet cable but is doesn't appear to work. I just get nowhere, after about two hours i get a message saying check your network connection etc.
    Here is my set up...
Time capsule providing internet access situated downstairs.
    iMac upstairs connected wirelessly
MacBook upstairs connected to the TC network.
Non of them have trouble connecting to the network.
So what is the best way to connect the two to migrate? The network will be far to slow, when connecting an ethernet cable the two dont appear to be connected & are as slow as trying to do it wirelessly. IS it possible to connect the two via USB? I dont have a USB portable drive so the suggestion of cloning the imac system & migrating it over is out of the question & am not sure how to do this. I suppose I could plug into the TC downstairs & migrate from TC backup but am not totally sure how to do this.
    Any help much appreciated.

  • Missing migration options in SQL Developer 3.1.07.42

I am using Oracle for the first time and so I downloaded Oracle Developer Days VM running in Virtual box. I need to migrate an SQL Server d/b into Oracle and so I started to use the SQL Developer application.
    The VM contains the following:
    Oracle Linux 5
Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Cache
    Oracle XML DB
    Oracle SQL Developer
    Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler
    Oracle Application Express 4.1
    Oracle JDeveloper
I have downloaded and installed the SQL server java connector and I can connect to my SQL Server database, I can also create connections to the Oracle d/b.
But, I cannot find the database migration menu options when using Oracle SQL Developer 3.1.07.42, the migration menu options do no appear on the Tools menu or when right clicking a database connction.
Can anyone explain why the migration menu option is missing or how I could test the migration some other way ?
    Thanks

I have discovered that the migration facility is not included with the VM.
By opening the RPM for SQL Developer and copying the migration extensions into the SQL Developer folder, the migration menu options are now available.
