Questions on the Wireless Installation.

Experts,
We have a good number of wireless access point installed on our network and I want to make sure that these AP's are not conflicting with each other.
Why do all the wireless access points show me the channel as 1(for 2.4 GHz)? and channel 36(for 5GHz)?
If I run a WiFi analyses what does the singnal strength in dBm really indicate? Is -70 good?
regards,
Nik

You can configure your WLC for Radio Resource Manager (RRM) and Dynamic Channel Assignment (DCA).
The radio resource management (RRM) software embedded in the controller acts as a built-in RF engineer to consistently provide real-time RF management of your wireless network.
RRM automatically detects and configures new controllers and lightweight access points as they are added to the network. It then automatically adjusts associated and nearby lightweight access points to optimize coverage and capacity.
The controller's dynamic channel assignment (DCA) capabilities are also useful in minimizing adjacent channel interference between access points. For example, two overlapping channels in the 802.11b/g band, such as 1 and 2, cannot both simultaneously use 11/54 Mbps. By effectively reassigning channels, the controller keeps adjacent channels separated.
Check more details on RRM and DCA in document.

  • Question about the wireless keyboard/trackpad/magic wand combo

Hello, I am currently using the wired keyboard along with a third-party wired mouse and was thinking of upgrading to the wireless keyboard, magic trackpad, and attaching the two with Twelvesouth's magic wand. Now after watching some reviews I notice you need to press the power button on the right side of the bar for each device - how does that work when the devices are going to be attached together all the time, essentially blocking off the keyboard's power button (right-hand user)?

Will MagicWand block the power button on my Wireless Keyboard or Trackpad?
Depending on which side you place your Magic Trackpad, you may block access to the power button on your keyboard or trackpad, but that’s okay. Apple’s smart hardware automatically puts itself to sleep when not in use and wakes up just as quickly when you need to use it. There’s no need to power down your keyboard or trackpad. They take their own power naps.

  • Questions with the Wireless Sound Blas

    I have Unit Firmware .2.0.
    Remote Firmware .20.05.
I have had no problems with setting up or connecting to my Music server from the Wireless unit. Works fine but have with two problems.
    > The unilt will not continue to play sougs unless you select the item and hit the play button.
2> The mode selection such as suffle and repeat do not cause the music to play continuously. Strange. Made smaller play list of 5 songs and still have to toggle to next song and press play button.
I have down loaded the latest software off the web and have not seen this issue on any of the posts.
Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

    My Recei'ver firmware shows .22.04
    Remote is .20.05
I believe the Recei'ver firmware update is available through email from Jeremy, or at least it has been in the past. I do not know why this hasn't been posted, it's been available for over six months. Seems as though CL doesn't want to give us the impression they support their products. On your suspect functionality... The only time I've used any of that is a smart playlist I made for Christmas music that will play the Christmas genre - random - not limited to a given number of songs. It seems to always start on a different song and plays selections from the Christmas genre in some random order. I haven't used the repeat or random functions from the remote. So far I've been a full album person or pre configured playlist type.

  • Installation question - Changing the default installation directory

Is there a way during a silent install to change the default installation path from c:\hyperion? For instance I would like it to install to c:\program files (x86)\Hyperion by default with no user interaction required.

Not sure what you are trying to install but personally I would steer away from using directories with spaces in

  • The question about the HA installation on ECC6.0

    Hi Experts,
We are about to implement a project with HA environment on the ECC6.0 in the near future, which is just about the ABAP stack. After reading the Installating Guide, I stil have several questions related to the procedures of HA installation.
In the guide document, I got the following steps to process for realizing the HA of ECC6.0:
    1. Run SAPinst to install the central services instance (ASCS) using the virtual host name on the primary cluster node, host A.
    2. Prepare the standby node, host B, making sure that it meets the hardware and software requirements and it has all the necessary file systems, mount points, and (if required) Network File System (NFS), as described in Preparing for Switchover .
    3. Set up the user environment on the standby node, host B. For more information, see Creating Operating System Users and Groups Manually. Make sure thatyou use the same user and group IDs as on the primary node. Create the home directories of users and copy all files from the home directory of the primary node.
    4. Configure the switchover software and test that switchover functions correctly.
    5. Install the database instance on the primary node, host A.
    6. Install the central instance with SAPinst on the primary node, host A.
7.If required, install additional dialog instances with SAPinst to replicate the SAP system services that are not a SPOF. These nodes do not need to be part of the cluster.
My Question is that does standby node(host B in above context) need to install the ASCS, database instance and Central Instance?
If host B does not need to install the database instance, how about the whole system would be when the primary cluster node (Host A in above context) totally crash, such as power failure.

    Hi Rong,
I would try to explain it in simple words...
My Question is that does standby node(host B in above context) need to install the ASCS,
    database instance and Central Instance?
If host B does not need to install the database instance, how about the whole system would be when
the primary cluster node (Host A in above context) totally crash, such as power failure.
    1. You don't need to install ASCS on Node B. You are installing it using a VIRTUAL HOSTNAME which represent cluster not individual node. VIRTUAL HOSTNAME is assigned to cluster package, so whichever Node is the owner of the package, will have the VIRTUAL HOSTNAME. (it will switch with cluster switchover)
    2. It is actually a cluster package configuration magic. When Node A is active, cluster package owner is Node A. So all mount points (which is on SAN disk) is mounted on Node A. When you switchover the cluster, those packages will be mounted on Node B.
Some time single cluster package is used (which includes mount points for SAP instance + Database directories). You can also use 2 cluster package seperating SAP and Database directory structure.
Only OS related directories should be on servers local disk. All other application related mount points should be on SAN disk which is configured in "Cluster Package". (For example /sapmnt, /usr/sap, /oracle etc.)
You only need identical users and their enviornment settings on both Nodes.
In simple words, When primary node fails or crashed only users and thier enviornment setting will be lost. On second node, because of identical users and their profiles, same settings will be available to bring up the SAP system. Your all SAP and Database data is intact as it is on SAN Disk.
I hope, your confusion is cleared now...

  • Problem: The  wireless  client Obtaining IP address.

Problem: The  wireless client Obtaining IP address.
    Setup.
I have a fiber circuit which feedes my Wan port. Then
I made a local network that then I branch off to five other AirPort Extremes.
Acting as access points with a static IP for local network, with no security enable and extending the wireless network name is off.
With both types of models, the new & older all extreme models.
    Sym:
I can reset the head end airport router with will fix the problem for a day or so.
Question:Can the wireless client cause this type of problem. the reason I asked, everything was working fine for the last 2 two years until I added a new access point. I have change it out with another unit which did not help the dhcp problem.
So my thinking either my head end router is starting to go bad with DHCP or a wireless client interaction may be locking up DHCP until I restart the router again.
Has any one had the same type of problems with DHCP???

    Thanks for the quick response.
The first option sounds like I need some  type of wireless software which at the moment I'm not utilizing so don't know how to do that.
option 2 also sounds foreign to me ! ;-)
Can you add some details or point me to any links you can ref me to so I can try to familiarize myself with these options ?

  • Question re: multiple wireless devices and the Duel Band Airport Extreme

I recently purchased the new duel-band Airport Extreme. Prior to that I had the single band Airport Extreme. I’m a bit confused about how it works and have spent a good bit of time trying to find the answers on the web, but nothing really addresses my specific question so I’m coming to the experts.
I have a number of wireless devices throughout my house… a couple of Roku boxes, two iPads, two iPods running Pandora, a MacBook and an older model Apple TV etc.
Both of the iPods are 802.11 G. The iPads can handle N.
One Roku is 802.11 G and the other can handle N.
I am confused about configuring the Airport Extreme. It’s my understanding that if I just go with the basic setup of creating a network and selecting Automatic for the Radio Mode and Channel that all of my devices will automatically connect to the most appropriate band for the best throughput for that particular device.
I have tried configuring the Airport Extreme as I mentioned above, as well as setting it up with the 5GHz Network Name field selected. I gave this a different name so I would be able to distinguish between the two networks when selecting one on my iPad. I will refer to the fist configuration as Setup A and the second (naming the 5 GHZ Network ) as Setup B.
When I use Setup A all of my devices show one available network to connect to. I select that network and all is well.
When I use Setup B the devices show two available networks, the original and the one I named on the 5GHz Network Name Filed.
My iPod’s ( 802.11 G ) only display the name of the first network, but my iPad’s show both, and I can select either. The signal strength on the 5GHz channel only dislplays two bars on the signal strength indicator icon, but the other network is full bars.
When I use Setup A, is my iPad, Roku and MacBook automatically selecting the 5GHz AND the N connection? How do I know that it’s not using the G band? Is it best to just go with the automatic settings and trust that I’m getting the best connections? How does it know weather to connect to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. What determines that ?
Sorry for the rambling questions but the more I think about it the more confused I get about all of the possible combinations of connectivity possibilities.
I appreciate any attempts at making this a “teachable moment” for me :- )
    Thanks !

    Welcome to the discussion area!
The signal strength on the 5GHz channel only dislplays two bars on the signal strength indicator icon, but the other network is full bars.
Not surprising, because the much higher frequency 5 GHz signals are absorbed much more quickly by any obstructions than 2.4 GHz signals. Everything is a trade off. In return for higher speeds, you must give up distance capability and penetration power with 5 GHz. It's not exactly true that you have to have a line-of-sight arrangement between the router and computer with 5 GHz, but many users are finding that to be the case for good, reliable performance.
How does it know weather to connect to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. What determines that ?
The signal strength. If your computer is capable of connecting at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, it will choose the band with the higher signal strength...assuming that both bands have the same network name. The only way you can "force" a device to connect to the 5 GHz band is set it up with a different name and point your computer to that specific network.
For most users, the way to go is setup both bands with the same wireless network name and let devices connect to the strongest signal automatically.

  • Questions on the Hardware requirement mention in the 12c installation guide

    Hello experts,
I have a confusion on the Hardware requirements mentioned in the 12c installation guide where they mentioned as below.
    RAM with ADP1, JVMD2 8 GB 12 GB 20 GB
1 ADP Manager is Application Dependency and Performance
    2 JVMD is JVM Diagnostics
Question 1: what does this RAM with ADP or JVMD mean. is it just the additional RAM space required in the server or does is that special requirement ??
Oracle WebLogic Server JVM Heap 1.7 GB 4 GB 8 GB
    Size
Question 2: What is this JVM Heap size ? how do we configure this in the server ??
Thanks in Advance for your Help.

    Hi,
#1: It means if you also want to install ADP and JVMD, the total RAM required is a small (e.g. < 1000 targets), medium (e.g. > 1000 targets and < 10000 targets), large EM deployment (e.g. > 10000 targets) is 8 GB, 12 GB, 20 GB, respectively. That is the memory requirement for an OMS host.
#2: The heap size for the OMS java process. You can adjust the heap size by changing the -Xmx<heapsize> (see an example below) in the following file:
    <middleware_home>/gc_inst/user_projects/domains/GCDomain/bin/startEMServer.sh
An example of OMS heap size setting of 2048 MB:
    if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" != "EMGC_ADMINSERVER" ] ; then
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xms256m -Xmx1740m -XX:MaxPermSize=768M -XX:-DoEscapeAnalysis -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing"
    if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ] ; then
    if [ "${PRODUCTION_MODE}" = "" ] ; then
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xms256m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=768M -XX:-DoEscapeAnalysis -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -XX:CompileThreshold=8000 -XX:PermSize=128m"

  • Question regarding the installation of a J2EE 6.40 Add-in

    Hi all,
I would like to install a J2EE engine on a test instance of ECC 5.0 and have a few questions regarding the installation...
Do I have to use the MASTER CD to first install the J2EE engine (Support Package 0) and then apply the latest support packages found on the SAP Marketplace?

    Thanks Bhavik for your reply,
That's what I actually thought but I get the following problem... Here's what I wrote into my customer message... I am still waiting for an answer and would like to get this solved ASAP
    Dear SAP,
We would like to install the J2EE 6.40 Add-In on our ECC 5.0 instance
(TST) but get the following error message at the very beginning of the
    installation
    > Cannot find an installed ABAP system, which is a prerequisite for a
    > J2EE Add-In installation. The installation cannot continue.
We checked the installation logs (sapinst_dev.log) and found the
    following :
    > Found these instances:
    > sid: MGR, number: 00, name: DVEBMGS00, host: erpqs1a
    > sid: TST, number: 10, name: DVEBMGS10, host: erpqs1a
Why does the installation say that it can not find any ABAP systems when
having previously found the 2 different instances running on this
    server?
Would this problem be related to the fact that we have two instances on
    this server?
Please find hereunder the way we performed this installation :

  • Question Towards the News and Installation Media

    Hello
Ok basically. Back a phew months ago an install was quite simple with arch. get past ncurses, setup the user etc. reboot into CLI, pacman -Syu everything went fine and automatic. install the DE, setup the graphical drivers. reboot and your in
But since the filesystem upgrade, and initscript updates. installation has become a pain, especially for newcomers to arch to find the solutions with deleting the locale file and updating the filesystem
So basically im just wondering if arch is planning to release new installation media, personally i doubt they will. its not really there fault the changes came along, but it would be nice if the arch installation didnt need the interventions especially for newcomers. either way im not bothered. arch still works great for me, im wondering if ill need to download new media at some point
    Second Question is
Whats homer 0.1 within the news announcements, im a little confused by that and curious of the history of it

  • A question about the Installation process in general

Hey guys, a general question to the installation process.
    The following scenario:
I install a programme on my macbook pro and don't tick all possible installation options (like additional content).
Afterwards I change my mind and want to install the optional content.
So I run the installation programme again and now the question:
If I install the additional content AND the mainprogramme again is the main programme going to be overwritten or am I going to have the mainprogramme twice on my system from now on
Thanks in advance for you help, folks!

If you do a Unicode conversion (no matter in a UC & CU scenario or as a single project) the target system must be empty - means, you will create a new database and load it with the content you exported.
You can't install the export into your already existing database with the same name.

  • I have a question about the new Magic mouse and wireless keyboard.

Just wondering. My computer is in my kitchen, against a wall, and connected to my t.v. directly on the other side of this wall in my living room. My question is this, can I use the wireless mouse and keyboard with the computer in the living room, through the wall, while mirroring the screens? Hope this makes sense. In other words, will the magic mouse and keyboard have the strength of range to connect through the wall. Thanks.

It depends on how far it is and how thick your walls are. If there plasterboard partitions and only 10 feet apart then probably.
If you have a mobile phone with bluetooth, then try sending the computer a picture of file from similar distances to that you intend using the keyboard, if it works then a bluetooth keyboard and mouse should.

If the drive shows errors then repair, if after the 3rd pass of Repair Disk in Disk Utility it still shows errors it's telling you it's time to be replaced. Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP for repair, when it comes back use your backup (either Time Machine or bootable clone) to restore so you can pick up where you left off.
