Quick Brushes are disabled on most images

Quick Brushes (all except for Retouch) are disabled on most images in my libraries. Some images the brushes are enabled and work fine.
The images are a mixture of mostly RAW images from a Canon 10D and a 7D. So far I haven't identified any pattern that suggests the camera origin makes any difference––some from each camera work, but most don't.
Any ideas? This is pretty frustrating. Unless I figure something else out, my next step is to uninstall / reinstall Aperture. Thanks for any help!

Problem solved!
Images for which Quick Brushes were disabled were processed using an earlier version of Aperture. When editing an image, the top of the Adjustments showed a little box with this statement and a button to reprocess the image. You can also select any number of images in the browser, right click on them, and select "Reprocess Master." Reprocessed images immediately have access to the full Quick Brushes menu.

  • Feeling pretty stupid.... quick brushes are greyed out

well, using aperture 2 for years, I figured "how hard can 3 be??" well, my quick brushes are all greyed out except "retouch". Anybody have any ideas how to get the tools back? D300 is on approved list, so that's not it...

okay I have part of the problem solved. There was this warning "this photo was adjusted with an earlier version of aperture. There is a "reprocess" dialogue box beside it. Well, once "reprocessed" the quick brushes showed up. Now the picture I imported today hasn't been in any Aperture except this version 3. What's up with that?

  • Favicons are disabled for most websites in URL and toolbar??

Running Firefox 4 and windows 7. After upgrading to windows 7, reinstalling firefox, and connecting to my previous profile, MOST of the favicons do not appear in the URL or in bookmarks (toolbar). Tried no history, then history. Cleared cache a number of times. Tried deleting bookmarks and re-adding them. No change.
    Thanks

  • IPhoto '11 - when I click to 'confirm additional faces', most images are duplicated.

when I click to 'confirm additional faces', most images are duplicated.
iPhoto '11 using 'Faces' - when I click to 'confirm additional faces', most images are duplicated.  It has become a hassle.  Even after confirming and not confirming images, some may still have duplicates pop up again but not all.  How does this get resollved?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • The left-click options in the web browser are disabled in the latest version

In all the previous versions of firefox I've had no issues in the drop down menu when left-clicking to either open a link in a new tab or save highlighted text or even saving an image to my drive. However now with the latest update (20.0.1) I have come across something which disturbs me by the full length of the drop down menu (too long, too much stuff on it) and half the options are disabled, which makes it harder for me to surf the web as I am used to doing. I have taken a screenshot of my issue . I hope it will help. Also, that my OS is windows 7. http://www.darkworlds.se/images/other/firefx20bug.jpg

This is a problem related to having an outdated version of Firebug, most likely you've disabled automatic update of addons.
The easiest way to fix this is to go to Tools -> Addons, and then clicking the wheel button up near the search field. From there you choose "Check for Updates" and unless you need specific versions of an addon, choose the "Update addons automatically" while you are there.
You will most likely have to update Firebug twice, as it updates to an outdated version, and from there to the newest one.
This is the solution I stumbled upon as I had the same exact problem, where I tried creating a new profile and the likes.

  • Desaturation as a quick brush?

    Hi
Can anyone tell me whether there is a way to desaturate as one of the little quick brushes (sorry, I'm probably not using the correct terminology - the little tools that allow you to dodge, burn, saturate etc) or is the only way to create a new "Enhance," pull the "saturate" slider over to the left and then brush it in?  I frequently like to brush away very bright colours in the background which are detracting from the main image and am finding this method a bit tedious.
    Thanks for your help...!

    Good morning Kirby and Leonie
Thank you so much for your helpfulness.  I am an old PhotoShop-on-PC user who has finally seen the light and so I am on the steepest learning curve ever - learning Apple (including those pesky gestures which I know are worth persisting with but oh! how my fingers itch to just grab the mouse and get the job done!) AND Aperture all at once...
As in this case, so often it's right there under one's nose but when EVERYTHING on the screen is unfamiliar, sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees.  I was even all ready to post to Kirby, "no, mine doesn't have that!" when I noticed, oh, yes, duh, it does ;-)
Thanks for confirming what I suspected, Leonie - that if something is tedious, there must be a short cut, and I appreciate the time you guys have taken to help me make my workflow smoother and more efficient.
Like Arnold Swartzenegger, I'll be back...!
    All the best

  • Noise reduction quick brush - no controls ?

    Hi,
After the upgrade to Aperture 3.1, if I apply the Noise Reduction quick brush, I can't see any controls or sliders in the adjustment brick. Does anyone else face this problem ?
I have no idea what should be in there, as I haven't used it before. Only tried the regular NR brick.
It doesn't seem to do anything to the image, even high ISO ones (I thought it might be linked to the RAW fine tuning brick, but it isn't).
Could someone please shed some light on what this tool does, or if you have faced the same issue ?
    Thank you
    Viren

I'm just agreeing with the OP. The NR Brick works as expected. The NR Quick Brush has no effect whatsoever, and, oddly, it shows up as a separate Brick from the regular NR Brick.
Let's go to the screenshots, all taken at the same exact spot on a 24 MP image shot raw at ISO 800 f/2.8. All details at 1600%
    As shot:
    /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/126/12613196-1.jpg
After noise reduction applied to entire image via the NR Brick w. default settings:
    /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/126/12613196-2.jpg
Without the regular NR Brick, but with NR Quick Brush applied to this area, default settings, strength at 100%:
    /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/126/12613196-3.jpg
QED. The NR Quick Brush does nothing. An ugly bug.

  • After updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google, yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. How can solve this problem?

after updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google(web ,image, video, map etc),yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. even I cant log out from different sites cz the log out bar is completely disabled. I tried with Firefox 4;5 and 6, same problem exist . I tried by active all add ons for facebook, same problem exist. If I use internet explorer , I don't find such problem with it.
How can I solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • Quicktime using associations in Firefox when they are disabled.

I have been having this problem every time I install Quicktime. The files I view at work are mainly .tif's and .mdi's (Microsoft Document Imaging files). When I install Quicktime suddenly it opens the .tif's I download to view, even though the associations are disabled in the plug-in on the browser, and in my Folder Options they are still associated with the Microsoft Document Imaging program. Weird if you ask me! Any solutions? When I open the files they open in a second tab using the QuickTime Plugin, instead of my Microsoft Document Imaging.
    Thanks!
    AMD Dual Core   Windows XP

Have you tryed unchecking the tif's in QT settings listed in Browser>Mime settings... and File Types? I have tif's associated with ACDSee in the Folder Options control panel under File Types, and unchecked in the QT preferences and QT is not interferring with them.

  • Rules are disabled after disabling/enabling account.

    Hi,
I have an applescript that enables or disables my work account depending on whether or not I have a VPN connection. My problem occurs when:
    1. The work account is disabled
    2. Mail is restarted
    3. The work account is enabled again
At this point all of my rules associated with the work account are disabled. I can't imagine that this is the intended behavior.
I can re-enable all of the rules with Applescript, but it seems like I shouldn't have to.
The problem can be reproduced without using Applescript by disabling/enabling the account in Mail preferences.

A little more info on the subject of rules, monitors, and alerting:
Alerts based off of Rules will not close themselves, they will always need to be closed manually. If they were alerts based off of Monitors they would (in most cases) close themselves after disabling them. If you don't want to script closing the alerts based
off the rules you can always filter or sort your alerts in the console and select all or selectively select the ones you want to close all at once and then right click and close the alerts based off rules. One other thing, for alerts based off monitors
it is usually best to reset the health of an object and let the monitor close itself rather than close an alert based of a monitor if you have a need to close it. That is unless something funky happened where the health of the object changed to healthy
and for some reason the alert didn't close in which case you can close it. The reason you dont want to just close an alert based off a monitor is because it wont reset the health of the object being monitored and will therefore not re-alert if the issue returns.

  • There are red lines in images iphone 4 ios 5

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 5, most images (in Safari, in Apps such as eBay and CraigsPro, thumbnails in Photo app) are corrupted in that they are pixelated and have red vertical lines running through them.  If I email photos that I take they are fine but if I SMS them or upload them via an app (such as photobucket), they are corrupted the same.  In the photo app, they are corrupted as thumbnails but fine if you open them individually.
I tried a complete restore and I tried the fixes where you delete the /PhotoData/Photos.sqlite, /PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite, and /PhotoData/com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist files on the iPhone.  To no avail.  I am officially frustrated.  I'm guessing Apple support will charge an arm and a leg to even look at this.  Hopefully someone else has this problem and can chime in.
This is a screenshot from the phone to show what the corrupted images look like:

In case anyone stumbles across this, I finally took the phone into the Genius bar.  They replaced the phone as it was under warranty and they had no idea how to fix it.  Never did find out what might have been wrong.

  • What are export unrestricted (XU) images?

What are export unrestricted (XU) images?
    What's the difference between BE6K-ST-BDL-K9 and BE6K-ST-BDL-XU?
    Any help will be appreciated

    Hi,
RESTRICTED CUCM is the "full" CUCM with media and signaling encryption ENABLED . This does not mean the feature is ‘ON’ all the time, simply that it is available for the customer to use.
UNRESTRICTED CUCM versions have all media and signaling encryption features DISABLED to comply with US export laws. This means that they cannot use CUCM encryption.

  • Some commands are disabled. How to fix it?

Photoshop Elements 11 - after opening the program few commands under 'Edit' are disabled (such as 'Copy', 'Paste', etc) are disabled or greyed out. What can I do to enable the commands?

And you do have an active selection? If so, can you post a screenshot? You'll need to come to the forum's webpage to do that. It doesn't work via email.

  • Quick selection tool selecting all the image

    Hi
I'm trying to get use to this quick selection tool , i have an image i need in the middle of the photo and all round the sides i want to whiten, the tool once draggin down either side selections all the picture no mater what setting i use, this is really annoying

    corky49 wrote:

With the quick selection tool you need to drag INSIDE the object you are trying to select. So, say the image you are trying to isolate is a building, drag inside the picture of the building. The selection will expand looking for similar contrast pixels and will hopefully stop at the building edges. If it selects too much or too little you can zoom in and use the add to selection / subtract from selection options and Refine Edges until you get a satisfactory selection.
From what you say you may be trying to select everything except the object in the centre  (so that you can whiten around the edges). If this is so then first select the object (building in my example) then invert the selection using Select> Inverse (or Ctrl+Shift+I).
