Quick Edit Greyed out in Custom List

I have set up a SP 2013 environment using the trial software.  I have created a new custom list using the
Custom List App.  I've created all the columns and I just want to use Quick Edit to be able to cut and paste columns from an excel sheet (I'd prefer to import the excel sheet but that icon is missing!).  Unfortunately, this is greyed out.
Just to test further, I created another custom list using the Custom List in DataSheet View
App - I can use Quick Edit in this list.
Is there a way to enable Quick Edit in my original list..?  I don't want to recreate all the columns again - there are quite a few.
Thanks

I'm late to the game on this, but I just encountered the same issue.  SP Foundation 2013 demo in a VM.  Simple, four-column list.  Nothing fancy.  I have the box checked to 'Allow individual item checkboxes.
The important variable for me is that I set the view to display Newsletter style.  That's what's causing the Quick Edit box to gray out (apparently, any choice other than Default causes this).
I found a resolution at https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2876824?wa=wsignin1.0 .  Eventhough that page talks about SP Online, the proposed fix works on SPF also.  Click
the List tab on the ribbon for your list.  Then, click Modify View.  Scroll down and click on the plus sign next to Style to expand that section.  From the 'View Style' choices, select Default.

For eg --Say if the field 'status' is 51 in my internal table then the checkbox should be editable  in the List display otherwise the checkbox should be greyed out .. Can this be achieved? Or should I use Classes to do it. Please adviceu2026

    Hi Shankar,
This is possible using CELLSTYLES (lvc_t_styl), which can fulfill the behaviour you require for your scenario.  I would suggest you to go through the below mentioned link posted on SCN which to asked for the same set of requirement.

  • Only using Quick Edit to interact with a list/view in Sharepoint 2013

    Hello All,
I would like users to only interact with a view in Quick Edit mode as it has all the functions I need (Edit, add and delete) without having to open Web Forms. Is there a way to hide the "New Item" link on all current and future views for a list?
    Thanks
    MM

    Lobo,
If you want to hide "+ New Item" which come as web part top left corner, then edit web part
Select "Data Sheet view" as default view from "Selected view" drop down of "edit web part property"
    - "Data Sheet view" as web part don't show " + New Item" link.
If that list is display as web part in any of the page not as data sheet view as default then below steps will help.
Make "Toolbar type" as No toolbar just below selected view
Change view style to default to "Basic table" from "Edit the current view" of "edit web part property"
If you want to remove "new item" from file tab of ribbon, then permission need to be removed as contributor to read only.
Please 'propose as answer' if it helped you, also 'vote helpful' if you like this reply.

Since you didn't name your form, I assumed you have only one
    form in
your document. Normally, you would name your form
    <form name="foo">
Then you can reference it directly:
    document.forms["foo"]
To disable a select object named "bar" in a form name "foo",
    the
    following will accomplish the task:
    document.forms["foo"].elements["bar"].disabled=true;
    //or as a shortcut:
    document.foo.bar.disabled=true;
The "document" is a reference to your current document, not
    the title.
    This assumes a non-framed environment.

  • Facetime icon greyed out in contact list

I am runing 10.10.1 for my iMac and have the latest software on my Iphone 6.  The contact I would like to use FaceTime is in China and uses a iPhone 5.  My computer contact list shows the Facetime icon greyed out.  The same contact in my iphone has no indication of a Facetime option.  I have checked my settings for both messages and FaceTime.  I have used messages to communicate with this person.
Why can I not use FaceTime?
    Thanks,
    Brad

I would guess that something on your contact's end is the issue - can this person make Facetime calls to anyone?

  • Quick Poll Greyed Out  - unable to edit

    Hello,
We have a series of quick polls assigned to individual campaigns and all are 'ongoing'.  These are then assigned to KM IViews and assigned to users via roles etc.
Last week we were able to edit the quick poll, editing the text, participants etc but for some reason we are now unable to.
I've logged in as administrator and checked permissions etc but still unable to edit.
There are no locks pending in the portal.
any idea what the issue could be?
    thanks
    Simon.

    Hi ezadler,
Did this issue only haapen to this one particular list?
Please check if there are more related ULS logs in 15 hive.
And also try saving this library as a template and create a new libarary based on it, then check if issue still exists, then change the "multiple lines of text" type
    Enhanced rich text to
Rich text (even Plain text) if possible, then check again.
    Thanks

  • Can't edit greyed-out HTML [was: hi]

can anyone help us out we editing html file on dreamweaver, but some file can not be edited due to be grey or locked ... not to unlock it please help really appreciated
[Subject line amended by moderator for clarity]

If your page is mostly grayed out, it is most likely a child page created from a Template. You can only edit content within Editable Regions.  Everything else is controlled by the main template.dwt file.  For more info, hit F1 help and read about Dreamweaver Templates.

  • How to enable enable Quick Edit button in Discussions List (SharePoint community).

I wonder how I can enable the Quick Edit button in Discussions List (SharePoint community), see attachment. This is no problem on other list in SharePoint. I need to import data that I have in a Excel sheet from and old forum (not Sharepoint). So if I can
enable Quick Edit, I will just copy data into my Discussions List. Hope somebody can help me???

    Hi,
Please execute the commands below to enable Quick Edit feature in Discussion board list:
    $web = get-spweb "http://sp/sites/sitename"
    $list = $web.Lists["listname"]
    $list.DisableGridEditing = $false
    $list.Update()
Now you could use Quick Edit in Management view.

  • Quick Edit Mode and InfoPath form

I have a SharePoint list that has a InfoPath customized form.
The InfoPath form has two drop down fields that have a Data Connection to a another support SharePoint list
The connection allows the second drop down list to be filtered by what the user chooses in the first drop down list (cascading fields).
The data in the support SharePoint list is updated.
If a user edits an item using the InfoPath form all is good BUT if a user edits an item in the Quick edit mode the drop down list fields are not updated with the changes in the support list.
I think this is because if InfoPath is not used the data connection is not invoked and the support list changes are not pushed down to the consuming SharePoint list.
Is there anyway a user can edit an item directly in the SharePoint list and still get the data updated in support lists that use a data connection in the InfoPath form?

    Hi,
Yes,it is by default that the Quick Edit feature cannot consume InfoPath data connection. Cascaded Lookup function is not supported on Quick Edit Mode in SharePoint 2013.
As far as I know, there is no solution to enable cascaded lookup function on Quick Edit Mode.

  • Songs greyed out whenever I connect my iPod to iTunes?

I own an iPod touch 4G. The problem I'm having is whenever I connect my iPod to iTunes, a certain 6 songs show up as "greyed out" and are listed as the most recently added songs. It's not a huge problem but it's bothersome. One of the songs, "Survival" by Muse is on my iPod, the exact same version I purchased and it is not greyed out and I can play it normally. The other songs I don't have on my iPod (not from their respective albums at least, but from a compilation I purchased). They do not show up greyed out on my iPod music, just on iTunes under Music under my iPod name. I don't know why these 6 songs show up greyed out, there's no reason they should. Please help me get rid of this so I don't have to deal with it again!

Try a new cable and different USB port
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • How can I get rid of a greyed out video title on my iPhone 4?

I deleted the video from the phone then trashed it in iTunes. I can't find the video anywhere but it shows up, greyed out, in the list of videos.
Can anybody help? Thanks in advance.

Try checking "Manually manage music and videos on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings, click Apply, open the folder on your iPhone on the left sidebar by clicking on the triangle to the left of its name, click on the Movies folder and see if you can click on the video and delete it from there.

  • Compressor will not launch at all and is greyed out in FCP

Running FCP 5.1 on Mac Pro 10.4.7 and compressor export is greyed out in the list. The program will not even start up on it's own. I've deleted and reistalled twice and still does not work. This all started after and archive and reinstall earlier in the week. Everything worked perfectly back then. Any ideas on how to fix this. I have a deadline to meet and I'm mpeg2less and gotta make some DVD's. Very important stuff I need to deliver.

Unfortunately, Archive and Install moved some important stuff that is installed initially when you did the install of FC Studio.
Some of these "bits and pieces" are now in > /Previous Systems/Previous System 1
Here is Apple's listing of what basic OX stuff got moved and where.
(FC Studio of course is not mentioned, just the basic OS X stuff)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Unless you know exactly what to put back into place, and enable root to move things back into your "System" folders, don't even atempt to do so.
You could follow this Apple doc to reinstall Compressor,
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93234
Or reinstall FC Studio in it's entirety, and run Software Update to get back to where you were before.
This should be as a last resort, as other specific receipts and preferences must first be removed,
    as in reinstalling FCP here:

I want to deactivate Acrobat 8.1 on one computer so I can activate on another, but the deactivate button is greyed out.

My standard list of things to do first for these wierd sort of problems, but I also tend to run these before I go to burn an iDVD project just to be safe. Keep in mind this list represents the programs I tend to use. There are several alternate programs that do the same things with some combining the functions of some of the ones below. So everyone has their favorites, but here are mine...
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system, especially any external drives that you use for iMovie and iDVD projects.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Reboot your Mac (after running Cache Out X you are given the option to restart the machine).
My guess is that after running Cache Out X and restarting you might find your hard drive space back again. If not, you might try booting off your restore/install CD or DVD that came with your system and then trying to delete that log file, then rebooting with your hard drive again.

  • Apply and OK buttons greyed out in console after updating custom lists

    Service Manager 2010 SP1
I updated some custom lists that are used in our incidents and now the OK and Apply buttons are greyed out in the console. It's been years since I built this out and I'm hazy on how it all works. I tried putting everything back the way it was but the buttons
are still greyed out. Any new incidents created AFTER I made the changes to the lists are working OK.
    Any ideas what happened here?
    Any help appreciated, thanks,
    Dan

yes, that's usually the reason but as far as I can tell, all of the required fields are filled out and I've even changed each of the fields to see if that would help but it doesn't.
This only seems to be happening with 20-30 tickets that were created before I changed my lists. Newly created tickets are OK.
