  • Every time I try and install iTunes 9.2 my laptop freezes up

Every time I try and install iTunes 9.2 my Acer Aspire 5920 freezes up when the install gets to registering iTunes Automation Service. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have the iPhone 3GS 32 GB, with the new iOS 4 OS. Since I have the OS upgrade I can't get update my iPhone without 9.2. In the past I have had problems getting iTunes to update but have always been able to go back to an earlier version but now with iOS 4 that is no longer an option.

For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\<User>\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Each time I try to install itunes I get a windows installer message telling me that the installation package could not be opened.  Verify that the package exists and that you can access it???????????

Each time I try to install itunes I get a windows installer message telling me that the installation package could not be opened.  Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.....

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

One thing is for sure, and that is if the only page i visit is the Google homepage (not logged in) or this site (mozilla forum), the problem does not occur, ever. I can't make it happen.
If i visit yahoo.com (not logged in) (or ighome.com, logged in), as examples, it happens every time.

  • QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3

QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes.
That's the error message I have gotten for the past 3 days since trying to upgrade itunes. I have the newest quicktime downloaded, have deleted itunes and quicktime and redownloaded it all, and it still won't work. I have NO idea what to do to make this work, but it's driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please give some advice.

You can try to fully remove both iTunes and Quicktime. Then reinstall the software again. The following link will walk you through the removal of both programs. Make sure you complete Step 16 in the article. Good luck.

  • Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3...

My error message is: Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3 or higher. Please reinstall iTunes.
This all started when I was trying to upgrade. I have downloaded the new quicktime and when it came to the option of reparing or uninstalling, I chose repair.
I read through other problems, but didn't find this error message.
Can anyone please help me? In a way in which I don't lose my library?

Sorry. Um. Try to completely remove the Quicktime program from the Add/Remove directory via Control Panel. Reboot your computer. From the Apple website Save the Quicktime program to your Desktop (i.e., rather than "run from this location.") Install Quicktime by clicking on the Quicktime install program that should be present on your desktop. When it is done, reboot your computer.

I hope that that is the correct link.

Every time I try to install iTunes 10.7 onto my PC it fails and the dialog box indicates that iTunes.cab file are corrupt and cannot be used.  I have cleared any Apple files from my Program Files, so there is nothing to be corrupted.  It is on a PC with Window 7 and 64 bit.  Trying to figure out how to get by this step?

    Hi There,

I then went to the following apple link

Follow everything to a T and you will get the use of your Itunes again.
Hope this helps. Good luck (And remember to breath lol )

  • Can't update Quick Time so can't install latest iTunes

I am truing to download and install the latest version of iTunes but my WIndows 7 PC is saying that it can't uninstall an older version of Quick Time player. It cant find Quick Tme.msi. Can anyone help me please?

Hi "whatheck" and thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it doesn't help me much. I am trying to use the control pannel route to uninstall Quick Time but it says it can't find the .msi file so it cannot uninstall Quick Time.
When I try and run quick time it says it cannot find the .msi file so it won't run. When I try and install Quick Time either as an independant install of as part of an iTunes install it says I have an older version of Quick Time installed which it cannot find / over write.
    I'm stuck ....... now what?
    Thanks
    Andrew

Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
