Quickbooks / Business Catalyst item number question

I just synced BC with my Quickbooks company file.  Everything worked correctly except when sales receipts were created for orders on the site, it didn't use the product SKU (item number) that I have in BC and Quickbooks (both the exact same numbers associated with products), it created a new item called "Online Shop - Product" and used that for every product sold.  This is a problem for us because we use Quickbooks to track our inventory.  If BC isn't connecting its item numbers to the ones we have in Quickbooks, inventory isn't taken out when it should be.  Is there something I can do about this or is this just how the QB/BC integration works? Very frustrating.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've speced and quoted it 3-4 times, one client is looking to build end of the year, but it depends on the quickbooks version and some other factors (like how deep you want the integration and your expectations) so each quote and implementation is a little different, drop me a private message if you are looking to implement or happy to answer any questions here.

  • Business Catalyst and FlexNav Question

HI everyone, I am doing a lot of responsive websites these days and I am constantly looking for good responsive navigation solutions. Recently I came across FlexNav, and tested it out, and it seems like a great solution to me.
I do wonder about its usability with the Business Catalyst dynamic menu system though. Am I able to add the required class, and data-breakpoint pieces into the <ul> tag? Example: <ul data-breakpoint="800" class="flexnav">
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

  • Business Catalyst Technical Questions?

    Hello All,
I will be working with Business Catalyst soon because of its integration with other adobe programs. However before I move on I do have a few questions that I could not find an answers on.
How many products/ rows can the catalog feature handle? - for sake of conversation lets say I have 2000 products, will the catalog be able to handle that or is there a limit?
Lets say I want to have an auction on a website, is that possible through business catalyst?
Since I have a hosting plan with godaddy I have to change the nameserver so that the site can us BC features. However I have several emails set up already,  will I be able to keep using those regularly?
Over at the webCommerce pricing, there are options for number of users. If I were to pick 3 users does that mean I can only build 3 websites with this plan, or I can only have 3 custom emails for one website?
If I have 5 websites with ecommerce, do I basically need a separate webCommerce account for all of them?
With BC will I be able to build a searchable table similar to this?: http://www.conciergerealty.com/sale-search/?field_resort_tid=&title=&field_region_tid=Cent ral+America&field_season_tid=&field_vista_type_tid=&field_points_value=&field_sales_price_ value=&field_sales_price_value_1=

No limit on products or catalogs. Rendering these on a site you can set the paginated limit of these and the top end per page load is about 500.
Lets say I want to have an auction on a website, is that possible through business catalyst?
Yes, but not as you really want it, it does not really support such features, you could fudge something but this is best for software designed for this purpose.

You would just change the A-record at godaddy to point only the web traffic to BC.

    Yes

Not 100% out of the box, you would need to do custom scripting. But it is possible

  • Business Catalyst Question

Hello. I am very new to making websites and I was asked to make one for a charity. They sell items to raise money for their cause. Anyway, I signed up to use the Business Catalyst and I know what I want to do. How to I use these templates? I see a box that says "hover over what you want to edit and click", but I can't edit anything. For example, changing the text on the template. Can I even do that? Is that what these templates are for? Is there a link to a more in depth tutorial that I am not finding? The ones on here don't answer my questions.

  • Using Business Catalyst for Newsletters - Several Questions

Hello everyone - I hope the format of this forum question is okay.  I have designed our company website with Muse and we host it with Business Catalyst (webBasics+).  We like it a lot and are looking to possibly upgrade it to the next package (webMarketing) simply because of the potential for newsletters (as well as all of the other benefits like blogging and the helpful modules).
My company currently uses Constant Contact for our quarterly newsletters and holiday emails and we send to about 2800 people.  It seems obvious to me that we should ditch Constant Contact as we pay more than $50.00/month and I think it is very limiting as far as being creative goes.  It just makes sense that I should use Bc because I already use it...and the 5,000 newsletters is only $6.00 more.
    My questions are:
Are there a lot of templates to choose from?  100's? 1,000's?
Is it easy to create my own template?  Do I need Dreamweaver (Only have Creative Suite and Muse)?
Is it easy to transfer an email list I have? We have software called ACT and I am a little unsure how this works but I assume there is a certain file type we can export and just upload into Bc.
Are there options to have links to social media (facebook, twitter, etc.) in the newsletters?
Are the newsletters limited in size?  I think Constant Contact limited the width of an email to 600 pixels - occasionally we had text in a graphic we made in Photoshop - so things go a little fuzzy.
Add-on question from #5 Are there ways to layer graphics on top of one another in the newsletters aside from flattening it in Photoshop?  This was the most limiting factor in Constant Contact.
I appreciate any help with answering these questions. Again, I think it is pretty obvious and maybe you have some things to tell me that I am completely clueless about.  I basically have to make the pitch to the powers that be and I want to make sure I have a lot of the ends covered.
    Thanks!

    Hope this helps.
    1) When using Adobe BC I can use dreamweaver cs6 as well, correct? Yes. BC works in DW CS6
    2) If i download Adobe BC on my computer to build the website can I also use it on another computer to keep the products updated? I read that it's online so i'm assuming this can be done for no extra cost but i want to make sure. Yes you can have SFTP access from any computer.
    3) Can you host your website using godaddy or other hosts while using business catalyst? NO, BC is a hosted solution. You can although host email services third-party (i.e. Gmail).
    4) Lastly, if you were to make an ecommerce website for a CLIENT how would you do it? WOuld you use business catalyst or other software such as, authorize.net and a shopping cart? BC includes a full-featured shopping cart (http://www.businesscatalyst.com/features/online-store), so you would manage products in the backend. A payment gateway like Authorize.net or Paypal will be needed (http://www.businesscatalyst.com/features/payment-gateways).

  • How do I remove the acronym tags from menu items in Business Catalyst?

Hello, can anybody answer this for me please? Not having any success googling or foruming it so far.
How do I remove the acronym tags from menu items in Business Catalyst?
    Thanks in advance
    Grant

These are titles and in the dynamic menu will be the item description per item.
These are actually important though and you do not really want to remove them but make them better and reword them other then the same as the link test. These are good for the user experience as well as SEO. A bot knowing a description of a link and where it is going coupled with the URL's and the title of an anchor are all important aspects of your sites SEO.

  • QUESTION: Have you implemented solutions involving multi segment item numbe

    My dear customers and colleagues,
My name is Kannan Tarakad. I am from the order management product strategy team, at Oracle, responsible for order management products. I am collecting information on the usage of multiple segment item numbers, to make some key development decisions. If you have enabled multiple segments of the item number flex field, I would like to hear from you. I would like the following information:
    1. Broad Customer industry (E.g Hi-tech, industrial manufacturing, whole sale distributor etc..)
    2. Release implemented
    3. Broad business flow (E.g. order to cash, procure to pay etc..)
    4. Key reason for enabling multiple segments of item number
    5. Customer name
I look forward to your prompt response.
    Many thanks.
    Kannan

We are using version 6.1 with apache web server set up to serve images. We compress the CSS and javascript but can't figure out if it is possible to compress the dynamic html (should be possible) or how to set apache mod_deflate to compress this content.
ALUI 6.1 has built in compression if you use .net only, does not apply to the java version.
Are you using mod_delate? I would suggest you investigate it if you are not already since it is easy to at least compress the javascript and CSS which can serve to drop your initial page size down from 350k best case to around 80k.

  • Business Catalyst/Muse Question

I got a error when working in Muse, and now am unable to open my site in Muse.  The business catalyst version contains most of the updates that I made.  It is not live in Business Catalyst.  How can I download the Business Catalyst version to a new Muse site?

What error are you receiving when you attempt to open or work with the .muse file?
There's no way to go from a website back to a .muse file. If all that currently exists is the output HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Images the only way back to a .muse file would be to recreate it.

  • Learning curve for a non techie-Business Catalyst. Two specific questions.

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for reading. I am a non techie who is looking at website development as a secondary skill.ie. having the know how to atleast relay my ideas to web developers and ideally to be able to tweak and in the end able to create my own websites.
In this regard, I feel Business Catalyst is an excellent tool, for people like me which mitiagtes the knowledge of coding to an certain extent. I am currently going through some of the content listed in the forums. Is there a book that provides end to end detailed steps of all the implementation to complete a fully functioning website and how much is the learning curve in this regard?
    Also,
Business Catalyst offers all in one features, is it possible to use 3rd party in place of default tools for specific function, say use wordpress for blog and a different email marketing service?
    Have a good one.
    Thanks
    Satish

I personally would tend to prefer wordpress for a small non-commercial website/blog. Its ecosystem of plugins is far more diverse than BCs and you get direct access to the code if you want. BC's blog and forum modules seem somewhat like afterthoughts designed by marketers for marketing, and there's some unevenness to the way they implement what HTML and templates you have access to and what you don't in different context, so to a degree wordpress gives you more fine-grain control over a site.
The transverse of this is that with open source software you don't necessarily have the quality control or guarantee of long-term maintenance that you might with BC. Business Catalyst is far more initially optimized for business (obviously) and its servers can likely experience a higher load and greater uptime than you might get on a typical hosting service with wordpress.
Wordpress is kind of notorious for being hackable, mostly because of its ubiquity, although if you work on it it can be secured to a reasonable degree I think -- I'm not aware of any security issues regarding Business Catalyst, apart from recent issues with the captcha and spam which might have been resolved with Akismet and Recaptcha (both of which you can also get on Wordpress obviously) but personally I don't like having all of my accounts linked with a single Adobe username/password.
But then again, I have to trust that Adobe has their **** together and there isn't some festering zero-day sitting at the heart of all of it because the price you pay for playing in BC's sandbox is just that -- it's their sandbox. They're not releasing the code. If you can't change it with an existing module setting or can't hack around with with javascript then complaining until they fix it's your only option.
In short, I think it depends on your needs. Neither is entirely the wrong answer, and both have their issues. I've been just as frustrated with some of the rendering bugs and limitations in BC as I have with the way Wordpress (IMHO) overdoes abstraction while simultaneously sticking with its horrendous code-and-content mixing template style. If you have inventory and need to push stock and don't really care about mucking around with server-side code or anything really complex than BC will probably work for you, and of course there are always sites like bcgurus and these forums to help out with edge cases.

  • Adobe Business Catalyst question

I had a domaine name that's no longer active. It's deleted. before i changed anything in Adobe Business Catalyst .. So i keep getting weekly reports for my former domaine. How do i stop getting those reports. I have tried logging in to Adobe Business Catalyst, , but i get this message "Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.cphworkforce.dk" Please help.. :-) Kind regards Klaus

    Hey there,
If you stop paying or end a domain purchase it does not mean your BC site will stop running.
Guesssing your development URL is this it?
    http://cphworkforce.businesscatalyst.com/
If not just replace the subdomain with the site name you entered.
You can access the admin here:
    http://cphworkforce.businesscatalyst.com/admin
You can go delete the site, change the settings as you want/need.

  • Is there a way I can have Business Catalyst automatically import product content from Amazon? (e.g. a Web App I could build, perhaps?)

I'm currently building a site using Drupal that is basically a huge book database and book review site. In order to acquire basic information about certain books I'm using an Amazon module that automatically pulls information into my Drupal database (such as author name, page count, publication date, etc.) based on any ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) I enter. It's a pretty nice arrangement. Also, people can click on a link that leads them to the item on Amazon so that they can purchase it and I can collect a puny affiliate commission. Yay Internet!
But I'd like to use Muse and Business Catalyst instead. I was able to create a Web App version of my database but I can't figure out how to 1) automatically import based on ASIN and 2) automatically link each book record in the database to its page on Amazon. Honestly, if I could just get the info into the database alone I'd be happy.
I'm afraid that Adobe would have to create some sort of connection on their end that interfaces with the Amazon API - and therefore there is no way to create such a website now using Muse. But, of course, I don't know everything so I ask you all: is there a way this can happen now?
Thanks for all of your input!

To do stuff like that will always need custom coding and things like API work. You will never be able to use Muse for that, its a basic site design tool that can hook up to BC modules. You will need to use coding software and have custom API work done for things like this.

  • Business Catalyst

    Hi,
I've been a partner with Business Catalyst for a number of years now and have numerous sites with them. As part of the Creative Cloud membership it says I can have 5 sites. I currently pay for all my sites with BC so I guess my question is:
Will the next 5 sites I make live not cost me anything, or can I convert 5 of my existing sites to free ones? Also is there a type of site that's included or can you have all the modules? I've tried to find more information on this on the Adobe site and not found it.
    Thanks,
    Adam

The 5 free sites are webBasic sites and at this time you cannot upgrade them (though that feature is coming).

  • Business Catalyst in Creative Cloud

I have a question regarding Business Catalyst.  It seems that with my Creative Cloud subscription I can create 5 sites in either Dreamweaver or Muse, and upload to Business Catalyst.  But when I log on to manage my site it seems I get parts of Business Catalyst, ie. just the reports and domain setup?  So basically I can't do anything further with my site via BC it's just a host.  Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.  Thanks.

    Hi Sean
With Creative Cloud you can create unlimited number of sites with Muse & Dreamweaver and from these sites only 100 can have a temporary status.
With Creative Cloud Muse and Dreamweaver you can create only WebBasics sites, in order to allow you to redeem your 5 free webBasics subscriptions. Should you need to use a different BC plan, just let us know and we will change the plan for you.
Also, if you are interested to use BC to create sites for your customers, contact us http://www.businesscatalyst.com/contact and we will provide you more details & help.
    Best regards,
    Aniela

  • I need urgent help in business catalyst SOAP api for [Product_UpdateInsert] operation.

    Hi Everyone, I am new in Business Catalyst, but, my company is working with BC for a while. I have a task to import external data (such as catalogue, products, orders, shopping cart etc) to business catalyst native tables via SOAP api. I am able to use "Product_ListRetrieve" function that gave me products from BC. Now I want to insert and update product list, for which the api call is "Product_UpdateInsert".       echo $sf->getTrace();
      //fwrite($errorLogFile,$errorlogText. "Error Dump: ". $sf->getMessage());
      return;

Hi BCMan, Thanks for replying. Yes, the error is from BC side. The format was invalid. I fixed the issue today. Actually, I was pushing data from my PHP server to BC host system using SOAP api. I am still getting format errors, but I am able to insert data into products table.
One more question if you don't mind. Is it possible to use JQuery/Javascript to push data into BC tables in real time (while browsing products table) using customized pages? There are documents to solve this. However, I could not find examples of how I could fetch data from JSON file using JQuery and then populate products/catalog/order tables.
    I appreciate your help.
    Thank you.

  • Is it possible to host sites on Business Catalyst without purchising Creative Cloud membership?

Hi, gotta quick question. I've started designing a few sites in Adobe Muse and have been hosting them on external servers that the client already has a contract with.
I like the idea of hosting on Business Catalyst but I don't really see the need for the Creative Cloud features as I already own all the Adobe Software I need.
    So the question is this:
Is it possible to host websites with Adobe Business Catalyst without a Creative Cloud membership and if so, how do I achieve this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi 'Phunction',
There are a number of options for you. You can become a Business Catalyst reseller and host your clients. Or you can host with one of the existing Business Catalyst partners, like us . No need for a Creative Cloud subscription.
