QUICKTIME VISUAL MESSED UP

Hi. For awhile now my quicktime visuals have been totally messed up. Whenever I open a video using quicktime, the audio is fine, but all I see for the visual is a turquoise colored blur. I updated quicktime to the newest version but it still doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix this???

I had the same problem with video files downloaded from my camera.
I solved the problem by going to the following page and following the directions under the heading "Disable Direct3D video acceleration in QuickTime"
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303706
Good luck

  • Making TDs editable creates visual mess

When I make table cells ice editable it creates a visual mess in the editor. There seem to be overlapping region borders on the tables making it very difficult to read the content. or perhaps its also showing row borders (no the rows aren't marked as editable)
    see screenshot below

  • Quicktime has messed up my podcasts visuals

Since installing Quicktime 7.1.6 the visuals ( still photographs) on my .mac webpage will no longer play. I get a picture of the Quicktme logo and the mesage "this enhanced podcast requires Quicktime 7.0.2 or later". Everything seemed to work fine until I downloaded the new version of Quicktime. Any suggestions?

    jc,
At best, all I can offer are suggestions. May you and any other that reads them, find each at least worth considering.
I share your dilemma and it appears (from the number of messages posted) many others do too. I can only conclude this latest upgrade of QT 7.1.6 has a few minor/major hiccups yet to be resolved. As a plus, there seems to be a plethora of "potential" fixes by many well intended and highly capable individuals. Yet, at least for me... none has resolved the issue you describe with our podcast visuals. I suspect by now that apple is at least aware of this problem and is hopefully already working diligently to resolve this issue. If I could suggest anything, it would be to exercise patience while apple works to resolve and continue reading as many posts as possible regarding this issue. Sooner or later, someone WILL discover what will resolve our dilemma. Until then... I suggest a measure of patient awareness as our optimal course of action.
Til then... may all who share this problem choose harmony over frustration as our fingers share our thoughts. And, that each takes the time to preview and modify them before posting to the world.

  • Quicktime player messing up video visual

Used to be able to view any video file from my digital camera in Windows Media Player, then downloaded Quicktime and all my existing video files converted to say Quicktime Movie under file type. Now cannot play any of them properly in WMP, just get audio with wavy pink & green screen, and same happens even with the latest Quicktime. Any ideas how to solve? Please tell me I haven't lost all those precious videos forever!

QuickTime Control Panel / Advanced tab.
Check the box for "Safe mode".
    Quit and relaunch QuickTime.

I just get a big "Q" (QuickTime trademark) when I try to view a Flash etc. I'm really annoyed Apple are making updates that keep messing up computers. This never happened until 2 months ago. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem so I can continue view sites with Flash plugins.

Reinstalling Flash plugin tends no to work.
I got web browsers to show Flash based content again by removing one of the QuickTime plugins from the Internet-plugins folder.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • Is Quicktime 10 messing with my FCP/Compressor exports?

Just upgraded to Snow Leopard which included QT10, which is utterly useless.
Anyway, besides my general dislike of the new QT10, I have a feeling the newly installed ProRes codecs associated with the upgrade are messing with my exports from both FCP & Compressor. We shoot HD, and often export cropped 4x3 versions of that HD. I just exported a batch of sequences at Apple Pro Res 422 960x720 from a 4x3 sequence.
When I open that in Quicktime, it has been stretched to be anamorphic. If I import into FCP, it tells me that while the frame size is 960x720, the pixel aspect ratio is HD (960x720). Only when I set this to square do I get the proper 4x3 aspect ratio I desire. Likewise, a batch I sent out from Compressor the other day had the same problem.
The solution I've found is that, in Compressor, I have to force the export to be set to square pixels. Easy enough I suppose. But my question is, why does Pro Res (with the new QT10 and ProRes codecs installed) now default to this HD (960 x 720) pixel aspect ratio and default to giving me stretched footage? If the HD footage I'm shooting is square pixels, why is ProRes trying to do anything else with it other than keep it at square pixels?
Also, will Apple create a Pro version of QT10, because as it is, its useless for video work. QT7 Pro is a pretty helpful utility for those of us in video post-production, I'd hate to see that go away and be replaced with QT10.

  • Quicktime Visual Problem

I have an instructional CD that I bought and it works by using the GUI of QT...but for some odd reason when I play the CD, the controls on QT that let you pause, or shuttle through the video are not displayed...but yet they are there. It's a black bar where they should be...but if I click in the spot they should be in...it works.
    Examples:
If I play a movie, or use other products that make use of the qt GUI...I see this (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c289/Bmoner/bar.jpg)
When I watch a trailer online or view anything that accesses the GUI, i see this (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c289/Bmoner/nobar.jpg)
I know for a fact that it's supposed to be there too, because I've never had a problem until now. Does anyone know what MAY be wrong?

I suddenly had all sort of problems (before 10.4.9) with QT logo and Question Marks throughout all browsers and also suddenly unable to continue training programs using files such as "avibasicmono.htm" and "introbasicmono.htm" .
finally think I have solved the QT logo by replacing Flash 9.0 with the old 8.022.
I could now also see current issues of magazines again on a site www.picturebusiness.uk.com (weird naming).
however I am not able to see the training videos at all but I hear the AVI files

  • Need immediate help! QuickTime completely messed since system recovery!

Our computer crashed due to a virus not too long ago. When we recovered the OS, QuickTime reverted to version 6, but 7 remained on the HD. I uninstalled 6, but 7 still doesn't work.
    Specifics:
iTunes keeps encountering an error and needs to close whenever I open it.
Every application using QT closes with an error and displays "Some of your QuickTime software is out-of-date," and clicking "Do It Now" causes another error.
I cannot uninstall QuickTime. Everytime I try, the procedure rolls back and I get the message "Fatal error during installation."
    Help please!
    Edit: I uninstalled iTunes.

That's not the solution; it's just a test, which shows that bad data in your home folder is interfering with Safari.
Quit Safari and move the following items to the Trash:
    Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari
Try again. If Safari still doesn’t work, quit it again and move the following file to the Desktop:
    Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Then move the following items to the Trash (some may not exist):
    Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Library/Safari
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. Select File > Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the old bookmarks file.

  • Removing Quicktime just messed up itunes. Ooops!

So for some reason I removed quiktime (don't ask why ) and now itunes is sluggish, won't play songs, and browser feature won't work. I tried removing the program and re-installing but the problem remains! Any Ideas?

So for some reason I removed quiktime (don't ask why ) and now itunes is sluggish, won't play songs, and browser feature won't work.
that's unusual. your itunes shouldn't be launching at all if you've got no QuickTime on the PC. (it should be giving you an "itunes has encountered an error" message every time you try to launch it.)
what version of itunes do you have on the PC? to doublecheck, head into your "help > about itunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom.
in your Add/Remove programs, is there an entry for QuickTime currently showing up?
do you have a copy of "QuickTime Alternative" running on that PC?

  • Downloaded earlier version, but now quicktime is messing up

After ruining basically my entire pc by downloading 6.0 I downloaded an earlier version of itunes which works, but doesn't open because now my error message is "quicktime failed to initialize, error #2095 please make sure quicktime is properly installed on this computer" so i tried to remove quicktimes and the uninstall features are missing!! what can i do next? Please help.

    hi Jenna!
try downloading and using the Installer Cleanup utility to remove the existing QT installation registry entries:

  • Can't install Quicktime or Itunes

I'm having a complete difficult time with this.
I've tried to install "iTunes + Quicktime" about 20 times now.
It says Quicktime installation messed up and iTunes can't work without Quicktime and quit.
So I get the stand alone version of Quicktime and try to install that.
I get "The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for QuiicktTime could be completed" Then it tells me to retry.
I've done everything I've read. I've tried Windows Install Clean Up, but iTunes nor Quicktime is in there, the only thing that is "Apple Application Support"
I've deleted all the apple and quicktime registry entries I found, I've deleted anything reffering to either apple or quicktime.
    I've reinstalled vbscript.
    I'm out of ideas.
I've spent hours googling this now and nothings worked.
The Operating System I'm installing it on is Windows XP.
    Someone please help.

    Excellent news!
Strange how sometimes the fixit works better than the manual methods, and sometimes the manual methods work better than the fixit. It differs from Microsoft fixit to Microsoft fixit too. (Unfortunately, because these "anomalous 2738s" are pretty rare as install errors go, I don't have a good feel yet for whether or not it's the fixit or the manual method that's more likely to work in iTunes/QuickTime installation contexts.)
Afraid I'm not very good on earbud troubleshooting, but fingers crossed the folks over at the iPod communities might be able to help:

  • Cannot install quicktime due to newer version already installed

I'm in desperate need of help. I've been trying to install Itunes for the last 4 nights but QUICKTIME is messing it up. I keep getting the error that a newer version of QUICKTIME is already installed and the installation can't continue.
I've been scouring the internet for hours over several nights to find a solution without luck.
There is no entry in the Programs uninstaller for Quicktime.
I've scoured all my HDs for quicktime and removed all entries
I've run several reg cleaners and regedit to clean out any reference to Quicktime
I've used the 'how to uninstall quicktime' support page and used the MS install cleanup utility, cleaned out temp files, used JV Powertools to clean out Quicktime.
I've used both the standalone installer and the Itunes installer
I've tried using safemode to install but the installer doesn't work in safe mode
I've tried uninstalling several codecs in the chance that they are somehow effecting this
I'm at the end of my rope and both me and the internet appear to be out of ideas. Of course, I need to get Quicktime on to use Itunes and my Itouch.
I'm running a fully updated Vista install. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I am using Windows XP on an HP Media Center PC m7167c. I have tried everything to fix the issue. Nothing works. HEY APPLE, Can you please fix your QuickTime installer to override the "Newer Version Already Installed" message when there is no QuickTime installed. This problem has been going on for over a year. Please provide an easy alternative way to FORCE INSTALL QUICKTIME. Thanks

What do you mean when you say the install disk is ejected? How are you trying to use it?
Will your Mac start up normally? If so, what happens when you insert the installer disk?

  • E72 Great hardware Terrible software WHY?

I bought an E72 last weekend, because I needed a phone that has long battery life. I have to say I'm really disappointed with Software on the E72. My last 2 smart phones were Treo 650 and Apple iPhone(s). I'm still hanging onto my iPhone after this whole experience with the E72, and I'll still keep my E72 and hold out Hope that Nokia will improve. Given Palm Os not Web OS over the current Symbian OS on my E72 I'd take Palm OS.
The problem is not the Hardware, Nokia phones are gorgeous infact I would say better looking than RIM's or HTC for devices with physical keyboards. The problem is Software, having used the E72 for about a day and a half I realized that my iPhone didn't really come with an instruction manual... after trying to figure out how to configure the E72 I resorted to Google and the Manual that came with the E72, there are still some unanswered questions.
The main problem with the software is that there is NO flow... when I use it, it feels like the people who developed it each when in their own direction. For example updating software... the first thing I did when I started the phone is I plugged it into the charger, and tried to check for software updates... I found out via google there is a separate way to update firmware and actual software the SWUpdate program doesn't do firmware. Why not? and if it doesn't why don't you tell the user? to update the software you can download it via pc and upload it, punch in some key combo on the device and check for over the air updates.
Another problem is the software introduces the idea of "profiles" fantastic something I wish the iPhone had...there are different ways to change profiles "Mode" (work/personal) "Destination" (for connection profiles) are these 2 things linked??? I don't know it doesn't feel like it... I thought if I created a work destination and a home destination I can link it to a mode. I'm not sure if I can or can't do that. This leads to the problem of Applications always BUGGING you when it needs to connect to the internet. Why can't apps be smart and use the data connections set in the DESTINATION based on priority?
User interface of even the Nokia apps is terrible... for example the Nokia Messaging application that connects to Ovi, Gtalk, Yahoo and MSN.... the Tabs at the top of the screen to switch between services takes up 1/3 of the screen space WHY? Why can't you just combine all the lists or atleast provide an option to combine all the user lists into 1 big list?
Other problems that I had to google... when trying to update the OVI Store application I got a certificate error during the install process... The root cause of the problem was that the date/time was set incorrectly on the phone it took a good 30-40 minutes of googling to find that.
Is there a way to quit programs in your task manager or application switcher without actually switching to them?
The file manager for seeing files on your phone and SD Card are in OFFICE again what kind of logic is that?

Welcome to Symbian. I have been using it for over 5 years now and the answer to many of those questions is "there is no logic".  To the location of the file manager, to the details about the firmware updater or to many, many interface and usability details.
My personal favorite is the fact that you cannot tell the difference between a folder (e.g.: Office) or an application (e.g.: App. Manager) just by the icon.
But this is Symbian 9.3 and with time you will realize that many of it doesn't appear to make sense and isn't obvious. Usability is typically poor. There is no way around this and anyone comparing to an iPhone or other modern gadgets will feel confused.
The positive aspect is that despite all the visual mess and lack of coherency, the E72 and other Symbian toys still provide a lot of functionality and power you will not find in other gadgets. The good profile flexibility is just a minor example.
I suggest you install JBakTaskman (at 1.35 now if I recall correctly) as it makes things easier when it comes to finding applications. You can just type part of the name and they will be located quickly without having to look around in folders. It also helps manage open Applications, Processes and Tasks or even define rules to auto-close them as needed.
Another good application to make things easier on newbies is Voyager Home Screen (again, allows you to quickly find any app and makes things a bit easier).
Keywords here are: Ugly and confusing? Yes. Powerful and productive? Yes. If you get past the first impact, you'll love it and realize that it actually packs a lot more punch than fancy touchy devices that are now popular.

  • Error -50 when opening itunes....PLEASE HELP - been this way for 2 months

Hi Everyone...I have had this issue for 2 months now and even when I have been talking to apple support team they are unable to fix the problem.
When I try to open my itunes i get the error message -50...I am running the 64 version of the itunes when its working, with my operating system of Windows 7...Apple technical support thought that it might be my anti-virus program - which is systems mechanic pro (an all in one program for cleaning out my computer)
I have tried un-installing and then re-installing, over and over again. I have also tired deleting file and installing older versions and I again get the same error. If anyone has any ideas or solutions that would be greatly appreciated as I have been without my itunes for 2 months - and I'm sure you all can understand that your not able to do anything without this program...PLEASE HELP

I resolved an issue of this description just 2 nights ago. I am guessing the error number is a 'General' error number not a specific one, becasue from reading I see many reasons or fixes for the same error code and as in my case possibly a different underlying causes.
My (it was my wifes iTunes ) that would not open on her work provisioned laptop. Being a server admin I am the luccky one at home that get to fix it.
The System side scenario of my (-50) is this:-
    1. Work provide (Windows Vista ) laptop.
    2. Work distribute Software to laptop via networked Windows Distribution services.
    3. My wife uses Quicktime to listen to medical audio off the net that requires Quicktime.
    4. Quicktime installed from said Windows distribution services All works no problem.
    5. Son visits us from USA with an iPad.
    6. Wife buy's an ipad the week released in Australia.
    7. I install Itunes to her laptop so we can 'register iPad'and she can manage her Apps, Doc's and Tunes.
    8. All works good.
    9. iTunes 10 is released and updates her iTunes.
    10. I get called (not sure if same day tho) Help me I don't want to loose or reset my IPad to fix this.
    11. I as she had tried several uninstalls and reinstalls of iTunes.
12 No change.... still (-50) on loading iTunes.
    13. I call Apple Support (after all we pay for the additional support pack).
    14. Apple check a number of services such as 'MobileDeviceHelper' is loaded and they appear to be.
    15. Apple guide me through an orderly uninstall of ALL Apple Apps that are hooked into iTunes. (order of uninstall is specific to be done properly I will post apps removal orde at bottom of this thread).
    16. I get to Quicktime and I note the Windows distribution of Quicktime 7 and additional Quicktime 10 application installed in 'Windows7 Control Panel 'Programs and Features).
    17. I as an Admin at my wifes work (no I have nothing to do with the desktop Builds) realise I need to go in to my wifes work and (yes) reinstall the vesion 7 Quicktime from our Application Distribution service then Uninstall it.
    18. I do just that Work provisioned Quicktime 7 is uninstalled.
    19. I then set about uninstalling the remainder of the Apple applications that are 'connected to iTunes and for good measure two others that are not.
    20. All is now gone
    21. I reinstall iTunes7
    22. 'Voila' it opens now.
I seems to me that the update to Itunes introduced an additional install of Quicktime and messed things up. if software is 'distributed' to the laptop as ours is Updates like Quicktime cannot happen unless distributed by work. Neither can you uninstall work distributed apps unless connected to the work network. (Oh we do have (Local Admin) permissions on the work provided laptop to do what we did) Obviously Work provisioned Quicktime will not go on again..
Oh the Order of uninstalling the Apple apps from a Windows 7 Laptop as provided by the Apple Support Guy is.
    1. iTunes
    2. Quicktime (where I saw the 2 Quicktime installs)
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Application Support
For good measure I also uninstalled
    7. Mobile Me Control Panel
    8. Safari
Restarted the Machine and presto it was working again. I did not manually go and delete the Folders left behind if any were after the uninstall. I noted all my wifes stuff Apps, Tunes, Doc's etc came back when iTunes loaded and the iPad was not connected (which I did first). iPad was connected and sync performed normally.
Thankfully the marriage is on an even keel again.
I now have my oWn iPad
and I now am ******* after a MacBook Pro
Rachel at work still says ... Get a Mac
    Work still resisting.
May be MazzBritt not uninstalling in the right order. the Apply guy was adamant it needed to be done so.
    Hope this helps some one........
