Hi Vasu,
please suggest us , wether we needs to apply 6141000
to get 12.0.3
As far as I know, the only way to get to version 12.0.3 is to apply patch 6141000 (R12 RUP3). The base installation media only delivers version 12.0.0.
So yes, you will need to install 6141000 to get to version 12.0.3

John P.

As you can see, I have more components on production.
My question is :
It's possible to loss functionality applying the patchset?
(I did read the README, but I'm not sure)
Thanks in advance!Your first issue is that QA is not exact copy of Production. It makes it difficult to really test these sort of stuff. Most of the differences are related to Application Server stuff. Have you checked the compatibility matrix for App server and its repository? Maybe you should upgrade App server as well.
I've applied 10.2.0.4 on HP-UX cluster many times without problem. But that doesn't mean it works for everyone. Your safest option is to make QA like Prod. -
9iAS Bundled patchset 9.0.2.1.0
I'm patching Oracle 9iAS as described in Metalink note 215882.1. The readme file for the bundled patch set 9.0.2.10 says that the set can not be installed when Oracle 9iAS Developer Kits are installed. I have installed PDK Release 2 (9.0.2). What am I supposed to do.
Hi all,
The Patchsets for Oracle9iAS confuse me too.
I have installed 9iAS on AIX 4.3.3 and some patchsets is not available for AIX (ex. patch 2790613)
I have installed
Patch 2542920 Patchset for IAS Core 9.0.2.1
Patch 2703110 Patchset for IAS Core 9.0.2.2
and i don't know if can I install
Patch 2705870 Developer Patch 9i
(i see on metalink 2842923 ORACLE DEVELOPER PATCH 2, but only for Solaris)
Is possible to install IDS core patch 1 now?
in Note 215882.1 is write this (about Non-Core(NC) Patchsets):
"You should apply the latest Core Patchset before applying a NC Patchset"
For IDS Patchset is the same?
Thanks

Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.4
Hello....
I just wanted to know what are the changes maded to the Instant Client version 10.1.0.4.
I saw the new version is available for Win32 and we used it extensively so I would like to know the changes....
thanksJonatan,
You should check Metalink for information about changes. The patchsets are usually fixing lots of small bugs and performance improvements. We recommend that you always move to the latest version when possible. I hope that helps. -
Urgent: About Comps.xml - Patchset, Patches and Components details.
Hi,
In Comps.xml [in Oracle_Home\Inventory\ContentsXML folder] we have information about Patchsets, Patches and Components. According to my information
I. TL_List: It has a list of all the patchset installed.
But when I looked in Comps.xml TL_List, I found that it contain two nodes
II. one is COMP_NAME and second is PATCHSET NAME.
Can any one tell me which information is correct First one or second one?
nullI don't recall having seen a comps.xml in 8i installations (may be some other configuration can have it). In 8i, it was the .SER files under inventory/contents folder (I guess :-)).

Question about a bug which should be fixed in the 10.2.0.4 patchset
Hi,
We have a 10.2.0.4 single instance database on Sun Solaris SPARC (64-bit) and have the same symptoms as described in Bug 4643723 (error codes and the stack trace are the same). That bug should be already fixed in 10.2.0.4 patchset.
Does anyone have experience on how to proceed in such cases - I mean, is making a SR on metalink an obvious action?
Is it possible that the patchset wasn't applied correctly although "opatch lsinventory" outputs that the "10g Release 2 Patchset 3 (10.2.0.4)" is installed and SYS.REGISTRY$HISTORY also contains a record of the upgrade. The upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 was performed 6 months ago and the database was continuously up and runing till then.
Thanks for any answersmany bugs can have the same errors. Raise an SR.
Oracle Support will ask for an opatch lsinventory, and may ask you verify library versions, or relink. -
Different information about patchset
Hello,
customer told me that on the database is 11.1.0.7 patchset so I downloaded CPUJUL2010 (patch 9654987). It is only for 11.1.0.7 on linux x64 but it failed.
I found that it is propably due the different patchset so i have check in in database and in opatch inventory but there are different information.
So I ask you why and how to fix it. I dont want to apply 11.1.0.7 patchset again.
btw, they use ASM and there is everything ok.

Edited by: Tomas Solar on 31.8.2010 18:28I believe if you look at the opatch apply command there is a -no_sysmod option. Check into it....I think it will update the inventory without applying the patch again.
Check it out.

About Apply patchset 10.2.0.2

In order to apply the patch set 10.2.0.2, I need to create other ORACLE_HOME?
Currently My ORACLE_HOME is 10.2.
Thank youOk, I read the previous links and I applied the patch set.
But yet I'm not performed the DBUA from currently 10.2.0.2 in order to upgrade my database
Then I run the opatch utility and its show me:

Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 1 10.2.0.2.0My question is:
I should apply the p5490846_10201_LINUX.zip (CPU patch October) before or after the DBUA ?
Tanks for all. -

the problem is that .NET is availabe only on WinX Platforms.
I hve heared somethong of mono a .NET Framework on Linux/Unix.
But it's not only this base it's the question which tools/Patterns/Principials
they use to ensure high quality coding.

Hi All,
I am trying to apply oracle patchset( 9.2.0.6.0) to Oracle (9.2.0.1.0) on Windows Xp (32 bit) system. While trying to apply this patch I got a message to shutdown OS services like RPC (Remote Procedure Call), COM3+ System Event which should not happen ideally. As per my experience we can not close down the RPC service, Since this is a critical system service. Have any faced similar problem in the past? If yes, then please let me know.
Thank You.Hi,
There are two concerns about your upgrade.
Direct upgrade to 11.2.0 is not support from version 9.2.0.6, at least you should be on version 9.2.0.8.
11.2.0.3 is not supported on solris8, at least you should be on OS version - Solaris 10.

Error while applying patchset 11.1.0.7 to 11.1.0.6
Hi, I am a new DBA and would appreciate any help on this.
I am in the process of upgrading my database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.1.0.7. I installed 11.1.0.6 and was applying the 11.1.0.7 patch. I installed the 11g patchset successfully and was working on 'Upgrading Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6 to Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.7' - Section 9.2 of the readme of the 11.1.0.7 patchset. After starting the dbua and selecting the 11g home that needed to be upgraded, the dbua gave the error -
The upgrade Assistant failed in bringing up the database proddb1. Oracle Home /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev obtained from file /etc/oratab was used to connect to the database. Either the database is not running from Oracle Home /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev or the pfile /oravol00/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev/dbs/init.ora used is incorrect. Correct the error and run the Upgrade Assistant again.
Here are some more details about my system - I have a 10g dev instance and a 10g production instance also running on the same box. The 11g instance location is /oravol00/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev and has a soft link to /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev.
I read another thread on the OTN where another person had the same problem and was asked to start the database in the upgrade mode from sqlplus and then try the dbua again. I tried that - started the databse in startup upgrade mode and it gave me this error -
SQL> startup upgrade;
ORACLE instance started.

Redo Buffers 19697664 bytes
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Can someone please give me some clue on what I did wrong here and how to correct it? Any help is appreciated.
Edited by: user12158503 on Mar 12, 2010 7:47 PMI checked my alert log and see errors from the day I installed the 11g instance. When DBUA said the installation is complete, I thought everything went fine. But now I see alert log had errors since then. I created the database on March 12th and tried to install the 11.1.0.7 patch on March 14th by around 3pm. Here is more clarification on the upgrade. I am trying to upgrade my dev environment. I plan to upgrade using export/import. For this I created the 11g instance and am applying the 11.1.07 patch. Next, I need to apply the PSU patch and then do the upgrade.
I am pasting the alert log errors here. Please advice on what I need to do.
I see these errors from the day I created the database -

Unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on XP - wants me to stop ALL services
Hi,
I am unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on our existing OWB installations (patchset 10.2.0.2) already installed.
I get an error message saying that certain files are in use and that I should stop the "following services". It then proceeds to list every running service!!
I have tried installing OWB with the 10.2.0.2 patchset and then I am able to install the 10.2.0.3 one but that is not a viable solution as I already have several users with OWB 10.2.0.2 installed on their machines and they need to patched to 10.2.0.3 ASAP. I really don't want to have to uninstall OWB from their machines and reinstall it.
So, what's going on? Why does the OUI say it wants every Windows service to be stopped?I think this problem is caused by one or several MS Windows services (maybe MSDTC?). OUI cannot identify exact service name which locks Oracle file(s) and show all services in list.
There are several notes on Metalink about this problem:
Note:356181.1 "Errors about files being in use, when applying a patch."
Note:402546.1 "How To Specify Which OCI.DLL The MS DTC PROCESS Uses"
Note:198699.1 "Access denied on OCIW32.DLL when removing 9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2) installation"
Note:232827.1 "Universal Installer can not replace the oci.dll Error when install/deinstall Oracle Products"
Note:294350.1 "Write Errors, or Files In Use, or NoServicesForProcessException During Patch Installation"
Try to change registry value HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MSDTC/MTxOCI/OracleOciLib to nonexistent file name (for example xxx.dll), restart Windows and try to install patch again. Please give a feedback to this recommendation, I think it would be interesting to all.
Regards,
Oleg

Windows Services blocking application of patchset for 11.1.0.7
I'm trying to apply the patchset to bring Oracle database from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7. Things are running smoothly as-is, but I want to be current. When I try to apply the patchset, it complains that 37(!) windows services are holding files that oracle needs to update. Some of the services I can stop (and I do), but some I can't, either because windows immediately restarts the service or there simply isn't a Stop capability available (e.g. DCOM Server Process Launcher).
I've tried rebooting (several times) - no luck. (BtW, This is on XP Pro, SP3).
Any suggestions on how to get around this? Even to discover what files are being held might help. The log files just list the services causing the problems.
Thanks for any help! That's a known problem on XP,although I didn't yet see that almost all services are involved. Normally the installer complains about some locked DLLs only. Nevertheless try the following workaround (and make sure - as already said - no Oracle service is running):
1) Rename $ORACLE_HOME\bin to something else
2) Reboot the machine
3) Rename back to $ORACLE_HOME\bin and try again

Oracle BPM 11gR1 Patchset 2 AWS
I was working with the Oracle BPM 11gR1 Patchset 2 that was created by Oracle on the Amazon Wed Service (AWS) cloud. I have it installed and everything is working. Howerver, because it is a image that was created by Oracle, what are the passwords for the console, em, bam, bpm that was created?
Information:
US East AMI ID: ami-c241aaab
AMI Manifest: 083342568607/oracle-soa-bpm-11gr1-ps2-4.2-pub
License: Public
The new Oracle BPM 11gR1, including the latest Oracle SOA Suite 11gR1 Patchset-2 is now available as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI). This is a fully configured image which requires absolutely no installation and lets you get hands on experience with the software within minutes. This image has all the required software installed and configured and includes the following:
Oracle 11g Database Standard Edition
Oracle SOA Suite 11gR1 Patch-set 2
Oracle BPM 11gR1
Oracle Webcenter with BPM Process Spaces
Oracle Universal Content Management
Oracle JDeveloper with SOA and BPM plugins
What was the usernames/passwords for all the parts?
The README file states to ask any questions about the image in the SOA forum
Refernce Link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/cloud/whatsnew/index.html (Bottom of page)I found the following web site that can help. The password for everything is welcome1

We're running OAS 10.1.3.0.0 on IBM AIX 5.3 and due to some crashing issues OSS recommended to upgrade to PatchSet 3 (so 10.1.3.3.0).
We originally were running OAS with IBM's SR4 of the IBM JDK.
Now after the upgrade to Patchset 3 (on a test machine), the ORACLE_HOME/jdk version seems to be the first release of the v5 jdk from 2005. It's SR nothing ... J2RE 1.5.0 IBM AIX build jclap32dev-20051102 java
It's 2 years old for heavans sake !!!! Not even DST patched.
What am I missing? OAS 10.1.3.3.0 is pretty much THEE most latest version of OAS Oracle has, yet it comes with a 2 year old JDK. Why? This doesn't sound right, why would a company of Oracle stature do this?
Are others experiencing this also? Why doesn't Oracle bundle a more updated JDK with OAS?It's not a symlink.
Oracle has a script (jdkfix.sh) and a procedure for upgrading the jdk inside OH/jdk. We went thru this on all our OAS 10.1.2.0.2 enviro's and 10.1.3.0.0.
One metalink note that talks about this is Doc. 272808.1.
Basically, you install the AIX jdk in the IBM /usr directory and then run jdkfix.sh which essentially copies the jdk over to ORACLE_HOME/jdk.
There don't seem to be any Oracle supplied patches for any OAS that upgrades the jdk. Which is a bit wonky.
Here's the ls -l from our prod OAS 10.1.3.0.0 install:
