Quiz Reports

First - apologies if this is a duplicate post, but I want to
be sure of the answer before I go back to my boss and ask for some
resources.
We are publishing our assessments in .exe format, and sending
results via email in Outlook, where tracking is done manually - we
don't have an LMS. The e-mails provide minimal data, and don't tell
you exactly which questions were missed.
My boss would like to be able to see which questions
test-takers are having the most trouble with. I have provided
test-takers with a "Review Quiz" button, but from what I can see,
there's no actual report available of which questions were missed.
Is this something I need a Web developer to do for me, or is there
something built into Captivate that I can use?
Anne

Hi Anne. You should be able to get individual question
results along with the score. (I'm assuming Captivate 3). The score
is the "core data". It includes: Status, Location, Score, and Time.
If you want question results also, go to Edit, Preferences,
Quiz, Reporting - then check the radio button to include
"Interactions and score" in the lower right of the dialog for
Reporting Level. The email (either body text or attachment,
depending on what you select) will include individual question data
listed under "Interaction Data". Here's a simple quiz result email:
Results=
Core Data
"Status","Location","Score","Time"
"passed","6","75","00:00:19"
Interaction Data
"Date","Time","Interaction ID","Objective ID","Interaction
Type","Correct Response","Student

"04/16/2008","11:29:29","Student

"04/16/2008","11:29:31","CaptivaDiva","QuizTest1","choice","B","B","C","10","00:00:01"
"04/16/2008","11:29:35","Weather","QuizTest1","true-false","true","true","C","10","00:00:0 2"
"04/16/2008","11:29:38","Autos","QuizTest1","fill-in","Cadillac","Cadillac","C","10","00:0 0:02"

Hope this helps.

Have Adobe Captivate 6 (not interested in upgrading)- Struggling to publish a simulation in a format that QMP can pickup - QMP needs a qml file. previous versions had no problem all had tick boxes for QMP in the Quiz - Reporting Settings but this version does not have. If i publish to Flash QMP does not see the file.

  • Adobe captivate 8.0 quiz reporting

In Adobe captivate 4, there was email reporting. In Adobe captivate 8, Is this feature still available ? How do I do the quiz reporting without any external app or LMS ? How can I have my results e-mailed or stored in the database ?

I have found the JavaScript API for this..
It can be done by the following,
       var cp = document.Captivate;
       var totalPoints = cp.cpEIGetValue('m_VarHandle.cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints');
       var pointsScored = cp.cpEIGetValue('m_VarHandle.cpQuizInfoPointsscored');

  • Re: cp5.5 and quiz reporting.....again

Sorry, I know this is being done to death but I need to understand what goes into the .php file
that my web server company will host.
I get that I need to have a .php file, and my server company do handle .php files
but can't find what the file contents should be.
Any clues would be wonderful, I have contacts that know about .php files but no
knowledge of CP and others who know CP but use LMS so the quiz reporting to server is not
    in their arena.
Can someone point me to any forum question or web site that explains the actual .php file contents?
    thanks

Some details about how to set up this solution can be found here: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/08/reporting-the-quiz-results-to-a-local-server.html
The blog post also gives you the location on your system of the template PHP files you need to use.  The code is in those templates.

  • V6 quiz report LMS as completed after 3 failed attempts

I have a pure quiz in captivate 6 that allows the learner to take it 3 times only eg
Attempt 1 = fail = report LMS incomplete
Attempt 2 = fail = report LMS incomplete
Attempt 3 = fail = report LMS incomplete
What i need is not logical but.........
    I require the LMS to
Attempt 1 = fail = report LMS incomplete
Attempt 2 = fail = report LMS incomplete
Attempt 3 = fail = report LMS complete
    Is this at all possible?
Happy to try anything with instructions
Thank you in advance and hope the above is clear enough
    Jo

Hmm, very illogical indeed. Not consistent with normal SCORM behavior at all.
Just  some ideas, without having checked them completely. You are using score or completion of slides as criterion? If it is the last option, make sure there are some slides to be viewed after the last attempt by using the Action on Fail that you'll find in the Quiz Preferences. I hope that is the case. But what if you have to report a score?

  • Quiz Reporting - No results are populated! Please HELP

    Greetings,
I am currently developing a quiz for internal use. Something
very simple. I publish in flash, I have only 7 (short answer)
questions. However when I complete the questionaire, my email
client launches with the proper subject line, but that's it. I have
used multiple email clients (Outlook, OutlookExpress, Thunderbird)
with the lowest security settings available. I have also configured
my gloabl flash settings to allow everything. Even with all this
done I still get nothing. I've researched and found that Adobe
Captivate2 is compatible with my version of IE, although I haven't
had success with Firefox either. I have used 3 different computers
on my company's network, and 2 laptops that aren't even on it, in
addition my computer at the house.
Below are my settings I have been using (per Adobe's
    instructions)
Reporting - enabled (email, with my email address filled in)
Report status as defined by report data
    Report quiz results only
    Report Interactions and score
Please help! Captivate is a great utility that I love
utilizing, but I feel this is a huge deficiency per my needs.
Adobe's Tech Support could not help. I emailed them my project and
they said it worked just fine on their computer. Which I find hard
to believe given the 6+ computers I have tried to use this on. The
final suggestion they had was to create an entirly new project from
scratch with Captivate2 (originally was using 1), but I have seen
    no difference.
    Thank You

Hi chazzzmd and welcome to our community
Unfortunately, E-Mail is pretty weak and convoluted. Results
vary widely and are largely undesirable. But even so, are you able
to post the .CP file or resulting movie somewhere where the rest of
us can see it? Maybe one of us will see something that will help.
I've seen many here use something called
    YouSendIt to do this.

  • Quiz Reporting - Best Practice?

I have been experiencing issues with the email quiz result function. No score in the email. I have tried as an attachment and in the body. Note: I've got this function to work at other job sites.
What is the best workaround for this? Another app such as Questionmark? The company I am working for is not using an LMS. I thought of using Moodle. Would each user need to be a student? That would be too many extra steps.
I need to be able to track users pass/fail information.
Ideas on best practice for assessments with no LMS?

  • Quiz Reports not working

I have search this problem but found no solution. This is for
    Captivate 3 latest update.
I want to create a quiz where the user needs to enter in
thier name and fill out a couple things so i can see it in the
report. Then go through the quiz. Instead of it showing me the
    results only which is this:
    Core Data
    "Status","Location","Score","Time"
    "failed","3","0","00:00:08"
I want to be able to see the users name and other information
with the quiz on the report, which i setup by instuctions.
In the Quiz Preferences i have this selected:
    Email:
    my email
    Choose Report Data:
    Have tried all of them
    Reporting Level:
    Interactions and Score.
    Also tried many other ways.
Under the email part if i change it to attachment it still
sets it up in the body of the email and not as attachment.
Any help? If you have a .cp that works if you could ftp it to
me that would be great (if it is allowed here).

Sorry, but the e-mail functionality is very problematic.
Several people have reported having the exact same problem (most
    recently in
    this
thread), so it's not just you.
I'm hoping somebody else has a happier answer, but in my
limited experience you don't seem to be able to receive interaction
data via the built-in e-mail reporting functionality.
My guess is that the formatting of the interaction data is
causing the process to break, but I have yet to see someone report
a fix or workaround for the problem.

  • Creating a Final Quiz - Reporting

I'm new to captivate.  I have a 4-question Final Assessment. At the end of the fourth quesiton, the participant is prompted to click on the 'sumit' score.  The score is emailed to me.  When I open the email, the data looks like:
    Core Data
    "Status","Location","Raw Score","Max Score","Min Score","Time"
    "passed","5","100","100","0","00:02:02"
Is there a way, in Captivate 4, for the final assessment data to be formatted so it can be read easily? Either in the body of an email, or linked to an excel spreadsheet.  For example:
    Participant Name: Name appears here
    Course Name: Course Name Here
    Date Submitted: Date Here
    Final Score: Score % Here

As Lilibiri noted, the email reporting functionality is pretty limited. CP4 is really designed to reside in an LMS, if you need any real reporting.
Still, there are some options. I've developed a way to manage it with PHP + MySQL:
    http://wheatblog.com/2009/04/adobe-captivate-4-storing-quiz-scores-with-phpmysql/
The above also contains a link to a way to handle it with ColdFusion + Microsoft Access:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/store_cpresults_print.html
Here's another developer's method for getting the data into JavaScript:
    http://pipwerks.com/2008/09/07/send-captivate-quiz-data-to-javascript/
There's also some software out there, which I've tested (can't remember the name of it at the moment), which will parse those cryptic emails into useful data which can be exported to Excel.
I'm working on expanding my solution, which currently is you only need a final score (i.e. it doesn't report the details of each interaction, just an aggregate for the entire quiz).

Yes, that selection refers to whether or not the student has
completed a view of the slides, and to what degree. It is only
applicable if you are using a learning management system (LMS), and
then, only if the LMS you are using is SCORM-compatible.
Glad to see you ask the question, and I hope this helps.

  • Quiz reporting in Captivate 7

Can a Captivate 7 project be configured to report Quiz Attempts to an LMS?

Just to clarify something here.  Are you certain that the "number of attempts" it is showing you there in the LMS is the number of attempts that a user made WITHIN the Captivate module during a single session?  Or is it just showing you the number of attempts the LMS "thinks" your learner has made on the module because it's tracking the number of times the module was launched?
I think you need to do some testing and attempt a quiz two or three times in a single module session and then see whether the "number of attempts" in the LMS reflects that number, even when the module has only been launched once from the LMS.

  • Quiz reporting via Email. Can I have your recommendations please?

    Hi all,
I'm building a questionnaire via Captivate 4 which is to be distributed throughout all users in my organisation. For about half of the people I am able to distribute this quiz via a LMS so that I can get the tracking/reporting back via SCORM 2004.
Unfortunately I am not able to use this method of tracking for the rest of the people (who are stationed in our retail branches). The IT network bandwidth in these branches are so small and already occupied by other softwares, our IT team would not let me use the network (or the LMS) to distribute the questionnaire. The only option I've got is to save the questionnaire package in each branch PC and use the Email reporting facility on Captivate to get the scores back from the learners.
So I want to find out from other users (like yourself!) about how your experience was with this Email reporting feature (if you have used it at all). Browsing through Adobe Captivate forums (including this one) I am got the vibe that its not a very reliable function. Saying that.. most of those threads are quite old (posted couple of years ago).  So I am hoping whether Adobe have fixed any of these bugs by now and if this functionality has become more reliable.
Your opinion / experience will be much appreciated
    many thanks
    Jay

You'd have to try harder than that to offend me.
My personal bugbear is people getting blamed for things that are not their fault, especially when no apology is forthcoming to the people maligned.  It's not me you need to apologise to.  It's all those hardworking souls at Adobe who you claim "let you down" for something that was most likely totally outside their control.
Let's say for argument's sake YOU were Adobe, and you include a feature in a software app, because people said they want it, and then this feature doesn't work for reasons that are NOT your fault.  Wouldn't YOU feel YOU were being unfairly treated if someone said it was YOU that let them down when the real reason is something else?  I definitely would.
Adobe isn't going to step in and tell you you're being unfair.  But if that's the way I see it, count on me to defend them, just as I would defend YOU if I thought you were getting a raw deal from another person on this list.
I don't have a problem with people complaining about features in Captivate that genuinely don't work as advertised.  I've done that myself.  Ask anyone on the Captivate DEV team or the Pre-release team.
So by all means express your opinion. This list is as open as any you'll find in the IT world.  Just don't count on everyone here agreeing with you when the facts don't support your allegations.

  • How to retain the master slide background at the end of the quiz reporting page of a project

I have noticed that the content of the master slide is not retained till the end in the quiz results page of the project. What should I do to retain the contents till the end of the project?

    Hi,
Thanks for your time. I have checked the transitions. i didnt give any transition to the slides in the project and i also check the preferences too, i had disable the options that is to fade in and fade out. My problem is "I have 12 slides in this with an intro slide and 10 question slides and then the quiz results page. In that result page, it is showing the result at the end of the result slide the pause button in the skin turned to play button. While clicking that play button it shows only the results, review quiz button and retake quiz button only. It doesn't display the images, widgets, text and some other options which is used in master slide or in the slide itself " Why those things have disappeared? Can you guide me how to overcome this issue.
The solution for the playbar is quiet good. One more doubt in that, The play bar should be displayed in that page but it should be disabled, Is there any solution for this? If yes, kindly share with me

  • CS6, no longer available? Quiz Reporting by email attachment

Our company has a custom-built ColdFusion LMS which pulls in data from Captivate via the Email attachment option. See below:
This option looks to have been removed from Captivate 6.
Anyone know how to get around this issue?
    Thanks

You are correct that the email reporting option has been removed from Captivate 6.
I suggest you look at the External Server Reporting option which uses PHP files and port the code over to ColdFusion to work with your custom LMS.  That's probably the most direct route.

  • Reporting User Views without Quiz

I am attempting to record user views through Acrobat.com and the Quiz Results Analyzer without including a Quiz in my lesson.  I create tutorial lessons that do not require the user to do anything except watch the demonstration.
I currently use the "Project End: Send Email To" function to generate an email for the user to send - but this requires user cooperation and therefore does not provide a complete tracking.  I cannot figure out how to setup the Quiz Reporting without including the actual quiz - or if this is even an option.
Let me know if you have any ideas!

Well, now that you question it...maybe I shouldn't be so sure!
However, I think I just misremembered as to why it won't work...
When you report to Acrobat.com, a 'Post Results' button is added to the quiz summary slide.
If you don't use quiz slides, you don't get to see a quiz summary slide.
Without a quiz summary slide, you don't have a way to post results to Acrobat.com...
(right? or maybe there is  a workaround for getting a quiz summary slide to show when using just custom-scored interactions?)
I know in the past I've tested the Quiz Results Analyzer and it indeed showed interaction data, though the reports were somewhat lacking. That was back with CP5...and that I had to use quiz slides...
