Hi,
anyone please tell me about two types of SAP installation i.e Distributed and Central installation.
I want more detailed description on Distributed Installation.

In Normal words in a Central system Sap application as well Database application runs on a single system and in a distributed system these two tuns on two differnet system.

i installed a new netweaver 04s - system on sles10sp2 as distributed system.
SCS is ok, Database DB6 installation is also successfull.
Now i install the central instance, but when sapinst checks the installation type (i select nothing), the installation failed with:

How to check installation type in OBIEE

Hi all,
I need to upgrade OBIEE 11.1.1.5 to OBIEE 11.1.1.7. OBIEE 11.1.1.5 was installed by other person.
In-Place upgrade is not possible in simple install.
I need to check the installation type in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
Kindly guide me as soon as possible.

i heard about the AS have already included a light weight DB, is that true? if true, in which installation type?

In 9ias infrastructure, wich is a basic need in almost al the other options, you receive a enterprise vs 9.0.1 database.
In most cases you don'nt want hold production data in the IASDB database.

Operand for installation type

Hello Experts,
According to my requirement, the billing is being created without checking the operand for installation type. System is allowing to create the billing document if some operand is missing for installation type. How do we prevent from getting billing if some operand is missing for installation type.

Hi,
To be honest I'm not sure what you mean. For example it's not possible to set value as required on operand level - you can do this only in facts. So one more time:
1. I'm going to any working installation and I can see that on facts everything is ok - it should be possible to be billed

2. I'm going to EA50 and I'm creating operand

3. Now I'm going to rate category that is used by my installation and now go to facts page. Here I add this operand and set it as required but leave value empty.

now i see it on red in rate category facts

4. If i go once again to my installation on facts tab I can see that this operand has shown up with no value, so someone will have to set it before billing because it's obligatory

Can I have multiple Serialized items on a service request for an "Installation" type of SR?

Can I have multiple Serialized items on a service request for an "Installation" type of SR? We normally ship our machines out in batches of 6, 12, and 20 with installation by our Field Servie Techs. They would like to be able to open a single SR for the installation but would want to "Tag" the Machines for it. I am not sure the posibility of this?

Add a Custom Script to Windows Setup
After Windows is installed but before the logon screen appears, Windows Setup searches for the SetupComplete.cmd file in the %WINDIR%\Setup\Scripts\ directory. If a SetupComplete.cmd file is found, the file is executed. Otherwise, installation continues
normally. Windows Setup logs the action in the Setupact.log file.
This is how it works after Windows Setup Completes.
And if Windows Setup Encounters a Fatal Error and is prevented from completing the installation, Windows Setup searches for a command script in the following directory: %WINDIR%\Setup\Scripts\ErrorHandler.cmd. One of two actions will occur, depending
on whether the script is found.
If the script is not found, a dialog box is displayed with the error text. A user must dismiss the dialog box before Windows Setup exits.
If the script is found, the script executes synchronously. No dialog box or error text is displayed. After the ErrorHandler.cmd script completes, Windows Setup exits.

Regarding the second question about script which installation type is being done, based on what I know, there seems to be no such scripts I could found out. for the installation type, we could take a look in the windows setup log to check the differences.

Sun Solaris: guess installation type

Hi,
a tricky question for you: how can I guess which kind of Solaris installation is on a system?
For istance, how can I know wheter a Solaris Entire Distribution + OEM installation was done? Is there a configuration file? Should I check all SUNWC package names and compare them with my "pkginfo" output or is there a file that contains something like "entire distribution + OEM installation"?

Quicktime Installation Type

I am trying to install quicktime, but I need to install the full version instead of the 'basic version' because I believe I need the 'authoring components' in order to run exportfm plugin from FM Pro 7. The problem is that the only option during installation is 'basic' and I'm guessing that these authoring components are not included in the basic version. Do I need to buy QT Pro to have the choice of 'basic', 'full' or 'custom' install?

I am trying to use a function in filemaker called convertimage. I get the error message 'The required QuickTime resources are not available. A full installation of QT 4.0 or greater is required. Try the following method:
ldd ./ns-slapd | grep libnspr | awk '{print $3}'
If the target file is a symbolic link, you are using a package/native install else this is a zip install.
example:
pc1234$ pwd
/data/test/DS/Patch6/bin/slapd/server/64
pc1234$ ldd ./ns-slapd | grep libnspr | awk '{print $3}'
../../../../lib/64/libnspr4.so
if [ -h /data/test/DS/Patch6/bin/slapd/server/64/../../../../lib/64/libnspr4.so ]; then

Installation type new/existing database

Hi
By accident, when we were doing an install of 10g r2 Oracle Enterprise
Manager on AIX 5.2, mistakenly chose 'create new database' instead of
'use existing database during the install. does anyone know how to
change this to 'use existing database' without reinstalling?

You could try export/import and then change the connection parameters in the emd.properties file to point to the existing database.

Installation Type issue

I have installed TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on my windows
xp and i am working with oracle enterprise manager database control. I want to user
Grip control. I download Win32_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0 from otn.
But when i install this s/w on my system only additional management agent option is
select which can't change. i install s/w using this option. but after creating a new data base
which show agent service but grip control does not work i.e. (i use web browser to open it at http://htss27.hira.com:4889/em but getting Server not found.
Do i need to install something else for using grip control
if yes plz send any link

Hi,
I think you are mixing a few thing together.
1) You have a separate software for oracle database.
2) You have a separate software to install OEM agent on the host where oracle is running so that this agent coud communicate with OEM Grid
3) You have a separate OEM 10g Grid software which you will use to install OEM 10g Grid so that you could monitor all oracle servers where you have installed OEM Agent.
If from "Oracle software", you mean oracle database, you can't upgrade oracle software using OEM grid control as i told you above that both are separate softwares.

PI/XI 7.0 Usgage Type installation on SCM 5.0 based on NW2004s

Hi All,
I have installed mySAP SCM 5.0 on AIX 5.3 + Oracle 10.2.
Initially i have selected the Usage type "AS ABAP + AS JAVA" with the application set "SCM APP"
Now i want to add "PI/XI" Usage type with "SCMWCL - Web Communication Layer" software unit.
Is this possible to do this on an already installed SCM system [quality system]?
And explain how we can do this?
I have downloaded the required SCA files
SAPSCMWCL**_0-10003502.sca
SAPSCMWCL**_0-10003502.sca
= 01 till 12
Can i upload this with "SDM"? OR do i have to run "sapinst" and select the "SCMWCL - Web Communication Layer" software unit.
And if i have to do this, should i select the installation type [SCM] as "typical" or "custom"?

You can find most of the documents you're looking for on Service Marketplace at the following link: http://service.sap.com/installnw2004s . Check near the bottom as well.
One thing to keep in mind is that NetWeaver starting with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s release is being portrayed more and more as one product as opposed to individual components. The documents you find reflects this. So the installation guide for ABAP+Java for example is the guide for NetWeaver as a whole on a particular OS/DB platform.
