R12 Windows XP

I've installed R12 on Win XP and it sucessfully worked. (I will provide the steps later on)
I have
Setup1
1- Visual Studio .Net 2003
2- Cygwin (installed as per oracle note)
Setup2
1- Visual Studio 6 SP 6
2- Cygwin (installed as per oracle note)
I've faced the following 2 issues for both setups
1- During Phase 1 (DB Install) i got an error regarding a missing dll (PSAPI.DLL) despite the fact that its there (Someone recomended to remove IE7 during R12 Install)
2- I get the following when applying patches
AutoPatch error:
The value of the attribute identified by ID '0' is unavailable.
AutoPatch error:
adpsrl(): Error calling aduattrGetAttr(adprelrec,COMPRISING_PATCHES).
AutoPatch error:
The value of the attribute identified by ID '0' is unavailable.
Error calling aduattrGetAttr(adprelrec,COMPRISING_PATCHES).
Is't related to the first error or there are missing libraries?

Oracle finally updated their Windows R12 documentation to reflect what is actually required for installation:
Oracle Applications Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.0) for Microsoft Windows
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=402311.1
Software Requirements
The software requirements for Microsoft Windows are listed in the following section.
Release Maintenance Tools
Acquire and install the release maintenance tools listed in this section. Follow these guidelines when installing the target installation directories:
Do not install the tools in the Program Files directory, or any other target directory with blank spaces in its name.
Do not install the tools under the APPL_TOP.
You will encounter problems relinking if the executables are in a \bin directory under any of the Oracle Applications product tops. Make sure each of the executables is in the PATH after installation.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Install Visual C++ 8.0 included in the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
MKS Toolkit
Version 9 or higher. Use any of the Developer series (for Developers, for Professional Developers, or for Enterprise Developers). Obtain this software from the MKS Web site at:
http://www.mks.com
Note:
While MKS Toolkit is recommended, Cygwin can be used in its place. See Using Cygwin to Maintain Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 on Windows on OracleMetaLink (Doc ID: 414992.1) for information.
GNU Make (Shareware)
Version 3.81 is required. Download and unzip patch 5897842. This patch contains the GNU Make source files and the pre-built executable file, gnumake.exe.
Copy gnumake.exe (located in make-3.81/WinRel/) to the UNIX Toolkit installation directory, for example, C:\MKS90\mksnt.
Note:
Installation of GNU Make is not required when using Cygwin. The GNU Make comes as a part of the Cygwin distribution.

  • Upgrade 11.5.10.2 to R12 Windows

    Hi
    I am currently planning an upgrade as follows:
    FROM
    Windows 2003
    11.5.10.2
    11.1.0.7
    TO
    Windows 2008
    12.1.3
    11.1.0.7
    I would like to go down the following upgrade path:
    1. Clone current environment from W2003 to W2008 using rapid clone
    2. Upgrade on new server to 12.1.1 using Rapid Install
    3. Upgrade to 12.1.3
    I have checked the final certifications and thats all ok, however in step 1 for the clone 11.5.10.2 on W2008 is not certified with 11gR1.
    So, is it still ok to go down this route when the cloned environment is not certified, even though I will be upgrading to a certified version? I would prefer not to have to upgrade the database to 11gR2 as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    We were in a similar situation with a different OS, and we managed to follow the same approach (even though the target OS was not certified with 11i). We got the confirmation from Oracle support first through a SR before we proceeded with this approach (clone + upgrade). So, please log a SR to confirm for your OS.
    Some other certified approaches would be upgrading on the source node then clone the R12 instance. Or, install the same OS of the source node on the target node, do the clone and the upgrade, then upgrade the OS.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • How to run the cmd or bat files in the con current program R12 Windows

    Hi,
    I would like to run one cmd or batch file, usually it is looking exe file only.
    How do we register the cmd or bat files?
    We encountered lot of problems to call the exe files, now we want to know to use the cmd file or batch or prog file (abc.cmd or abc.bat or abc.prog)
    Application: R12.0.4
    OS: Windows 2003
    Awaiting for your sincere response,
    Thanks,
    M.K.Thamaraiselvan

    Hi Hussien,
    Please help me that
    1. Create a file under the %FND_TOP%\bin directory called testhost.cmd
    In the file put the following two lines:
    ls >> testhost.txt
    exit
    2. From the %FND_TOP%\bin directory, do the following:
    copy fndcpesr.exe testhost.exe
    I understood the above 2 steps, the below one, is making confusion. Can you explain that what application i have to choose. 3. Register testhost (use 'testhost' for the Execution File Name) as a concurrent executable in Oracle Applications.
    4. Register a testhost host program as a concurrent program in Oracle Applications.
    5. Add the program to your report group.
    Awaiting for your explanation clearly to go ahead.
    Please explain me that which application i can choose while define the executable and program.
    awaiting.
    Thanks

  • R12 Windows E Business suite: - Customization Register - Urgent

    Hi,
    I would like to register one customization top, while i used to do in FND_APPLICATION, in that APPLICATION ID. i am taking the next value to register my own custom top.
    But i unable to register it. i am getting
    SQL> @ ZDBAOL11.sql 1 N

    new 26: v_site_id NUMBER := 1;
    old 28: v_install_dff VARCHAR2(1) := NVL(UPPER('&2'),'Y');

    Appl Id :200
    Appl Id :260
    Appl Id :222
    Appl Id :201
    Appl Id :0
    User Id :0
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (APPLSYS.FND_APPLICATION_U1) violated
    Error registering application DBCUSTOM at statement no 3
    Program Aborted
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    Also, i am checking that every attempt the application id has been growing but it is not registering yet.
    so i want to set the application id which was used it before the one, from that i want to try the next value to register my custom top.
    How can i go back to set it particular application id (cursor will move from the record.)
    SELECT fnd_application_s.NEXTVAL FROM DUAL;
    SELECT fnd_application_s.CURRVAL FROM DUAL;
    Please help me, for an example
    Applicaiton id has to set it as 20043, i want to register my custom top as 20044(application id)
    How we do go set the record pointer.
    Awaiting for your sincere reply
    Thanks.
    M>K.TS

    If you don't want to modify the sequence, you can't go back - unless you directly update core tables after record is inserted (not advisable).
    And even if you go back you'd need to make sure you don't double-up on any number or you'll get unique constraint violations on insert.
    If you're sure you can go back to 20010 then change the sequence.
    You can alter sequence like this (but be very careful !!) note that the "select nextval" after -80 change would be made by the application - you don't run it in SQL!!
    SQL> create sequence gr_s nocache;
    Sequence created.
    SQL> select gr_s.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    1
    SQL> alter sequence gr_s increment by 20089;
    Sequence altered.
    SQL> select gr_s.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    20090
    SQL> alter sequence gr_s increment by -80;
    Sequence altered.
    SQL> select gr_s.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    20010
    SQL> alter sequence gr_s increment by 81;
    NEXTVAL
    20090
    SQL> alter sequence gr_s increment by 1;
    Sequence altered.
    SQL> select gr_s.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    20011

    R12 installs 10g Database. to my knowledge 10g is supported by 64 bit H/W and O/S. if i am true, then r12 is not possible on 32 bit H/W. then should i migrate to 64 bit H/W.
    suggestions please.........
    charan.

    Hi Charan,
    R12 Windows 32-bit installs fine on 32-bit Windows 2003, and will use 32-bit components for the entire technology stack and applications. You just need to have cygwin or MKS Toolkit, MS Visual Studio 2005 and gnumake. Detailed instructions are in the Metalink Doc:
    Oracle Applications Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.0) for Microsoft Windows
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=402311.1
    There are several forum threads that discuss R12 installations on Windows, the following one should get you started:

  • Configuring Disco with R12

    Hi,
    I need to do a fresh configuration of 10g discoverer with R12 single node on linux. Here are the steps i am planning to do (ref doc.Note:373634.1).
    Please correct me if i am missing something.
    1. Install R12 (single node)
    2. Download Oracle Business Intelligence Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
    as_linux_x86_bi_101202_disk1.cpio
    as_linux_x86_bi_101202_disk2.cpio
    3. Install Business Intelligence Server in a different Oracle home on same server where R12 is installed.
    4. Apply Discoverer Plus and Viewer MLR Patch 5367472 to your R12 installation.
    5. Configure Oracle Discoverer 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
    copy dbc file, update tnsnames.ora etc.
    6. Create the Discoverer End-User Layer
    7. Set disco URL in OAM and Run autoconfig.
    8. Set Application profile

    To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    Discoverer Administrator / Desktop: Download and apply Patch 5566430 - APPS: MLR FOR E-BUSINESS SUITE R12: WINDOWS ADMIN/DESKTOP
    Discoverer Plus / Viewer: Download and apply Patch 5367472 - APPS: MLR FOR E-BUSINESS SUITE R12: LINUX PLUS/VIEWER for your platform

  • Unable to start APPS after R12 installation. But, DB is UP

    Hi,
    I have installed R12 on my laptop with External Hard drive connected. The installation completed successfully. I can connect to the DB tier. But, apps... sometime it connects and sometimes it doesn't. I was wondering is it something to do with the services I am starting?? Here is the sequence of the services I start for R12 Apps.
    OracleServiceVIS
    OracleVIS_db102_RDBMSTNSListenerVIS
    OracleVIS_TOOLS_c_oracle_VIS_apps_tech_st_10_1_2TNSListenerAPPS_VIS
    Oracle Process Manager for VIS_bhaskara
    Do I need to start any extra services or the Order in which I am starting the services is not correct???
    Thanks a lot for you help.
    Bhaskara

    Some people have reported good results with R12 on Windows. I find R12 on Windows about 100 times more flaky than on Linux on identical hardware. Add an external hard drive into the mix, and you have very slim odd of it working correctly, or for very long. External hard drives try to power themselves down at inopportune times when you run Oracle products on them. You also increase your chances of needing a media recovery of your datafiles if your external hard drive loses power, and you have any datafiles there.
    It is a couple days work, but I recently upgraded 11.5.10.2 Vision on Linux to R12 and have a 70GB footprint. This easily fits on a laptop 100 or 120 GB (non-perpendicular recording =>stable hard drive). Also the memory footprint is much less on Linux, and I can run R12 fine on 2 GB RAM laptops, even have R12 and 11.5.10.2 with Demantra Demand Planning OAS 10.1.3 running concurrently on a T61 with 4 GB of RAM. I have R12 Windows running on a Windows machine with 3 GB of RAM, and with all the applications up, I can log in, but RAM is at 3 GB and the page file is almost full. I only advise people to install R12 on Windows that have a ton of RAM and patience trying to get it and keep it all running.

  • An error occurred while attempting to establish an Applications File Server

    Hi,
    I have following problem with concurrent manager logs and outputs (I am on R12, windows):
    "An error occurred while attempting to establish an Applications File Server connection with the node FNDFS_APPLTOP_eviasl. There may be a network configuration problem, or the TNS listener on node FNDFS_APPLTOP_eviasl may not be running. Please contact your system administrator."
    There is plenty of similar threads and several metalink notes (including below) about it, but mine seems to be slightly different issue.
    Troubleshooting the "Error Occurred While Attempting to Establish an Applications File Server Connection" [ID 117012.1]
    As you can see from error message it says node name is FNDFS_APPLTOP_eviasl, but uname -n returns only eviasl. Where this APPLTOP is coming from?
    J:\oracle\VIS\inst\apps\VIS_eviasl\ora\10.1.2\network\admin\tnsnames.ora contains entries like below one (whole file is very long, but it does not contain entry with APPLTOP):
    FNDFS_eviasl = (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=eviasl)(PORT=1626))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=FNDFS))
    Another tnsnames from ORACLE_HOME contains only below entry:
    rep_eviasl_VIS_eviasl_TOOLS.xxxxxx.xxx=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=eviasl)(PORT=1950))
    Yesterday I had issue with concurrent manager, so I was running adcmclean to fix it and this issue started after that.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Piotr

  • Install R12 on a Virtual Machine hosted on Windows Vista

    I wanted to install Oracle EBS R12.1.1 on Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit but used to get .\jre\nt\1.6.0\bin\java error. Hussein Sawwan
    helped and said that this is not certified. He adviced me to create a VMWare Server. Following is my experience. I hope it is helpful. Any
    suggestions, additions are more than welcome. Thanks to all who helpmed me especially Hussein Sawwan, Helios, Gareth Roberts.
    I used to get .\jre\nt\1.6.0\bin\java error after the installation would zoom through 33%. That was because my staging area was not correct. The staging area should be just next to c:\ or whatever be the root directory (or drive). No space or special characters in folder name. My current structure is as follows:
    c:\r12stage. Under r12stage I have following folders and subfolders
    oraAppDB -- 49 Disks
    oraApps -- 11 Disks
    oraAS -- 3 Disks (This comes from the Rapid Install Tools)
    oraDB -- 5 Disks
    startCD -- 1 Disk plus other folders. Just copy startcd from the unzipped download and paste to r12stage area.
    I then created a virtual machine using VMWare Server (free download but need to register to get the serial number). Because I installed
    vmware server on Vista Home Premium 64 bit Host OS, I have to boot my machine by pressing F8 and then select Disable Digital Signature
    Enformcement. Thanks to Gareth Roberts for this tip. Create a vm and install Windows 2003 by selecting the .img file (first cd) by selecting Use ISO image and then path of the windows 2003 cd 1 (zipped file). start the virtual machine, that will install windows 2003 and then ask for location of 2nd cd. On the host machine, where the second win 2003 zip file resides, unzip the second zip file and name the folder as cd2. share this folder to the __vmware_user__ and from the virtual machine, map network drive to \\hostmachinename\cd2. Select this as the location of cd2 and complete the installation. Install MKS Toolkit from http://cygwin.com/ and visual c++ from Microsoft website. for information on this please refer to the following URL. Thanks to Muhammad Habib

    After installation is done and Windows Update is run, share the r12stage directory on the host machine to the vmuser and launch rapidwiz.cmd from the command prompt and follow the instruction. For internet connection from the VM use Ethernet as NAT.
    If the installation errors halfway through, clean up your VM by following instructions in document id 292424.1 in MetaLink. If you dont have access to Metalink then I summarize the steps briefly over here.
    Launch the Registry Editor.
    Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software key.
    Select the Apache Group subkey and delete it.
    Select the Oracle subkey and delete it.
    Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Current Control Set\Services.
    Carefully select and delete each service beginning with Oracle. For example, delete "Oracle Apache Server PROD_<nodename>".
    When you are finished, exit the Registry Editor.
    Navigate to the Environment Variables editing screen according to your system setup. For example, right-click My Computer and select
    Properties. From the Advanced tab, click the Environment Variables button.
    Select the following system variables if created during the failed installation, and delete them: DISCO_JRE, DISCO_VBROKER, JSERV,
    VBROKER_JAVAVM, VBROKER_TAG, WV_GATEWAY.
    Select the Path variable, but do not delete it. Carefully edit it and remove any component with "Oracle" in the name, or that otherwise
    references the failed install. For example, delete "E:\11.5.10\test\visora\8.0.6\bin;".
    Save and exit System Properties.
    Open a command window and navigate to the C:\Program Files\ directory. Delete the Oracle subdirectory.
    If your Oracle Inventory directory was not C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory and was therefore not deleted in the previous step, locate it
    and delete it.
    Restart your machine
    It is now safe to remove the Oracle filesystem that was partially installed during the failed installation. Go to the base install directory,
    or top-level directory under which you installed either the Database Server (DATA, DB) or the Applications Tier Server (APPL, ORA, COMN)
    directories, or both. Note that you may choose to rename a directory before you delete it. This allows you to use the same directory name and start a new installation even before you finish the delete filesystem operation. For example, if you placed your filesystem in a "test" directory under
    "E:\11.5.10":
    C:\> E:
    E:\> cd 11.5.10
    E:\> rename test oldtest
    E:\> del /s /q oldtest
    In another window:
    C:\> cd <stage install directory>
    Q:\> rapidwiz.cmd
    After cleaning up if you still get error like RW-50004: Error Code received when running external process. Check log file for
    details. Running database Install driver for VIS instance, after 13% complte step 1 of 5 then I suggest that you re-create the machine and follow the above steps again. Including installing win 2003, mks tool kit , vc++, etc. It will be a success.
    Starting concurrent manager takes up enormous memory and slows down everything, so if you dont need it then dont ever start it. APPS password is apps and sysadmin user is sysadmin.
    Good luck.

    I had Vista 64-bit machine, installed Ubuntu in VMWare. Installed Oracle apps on 32-bit Ubuntu under VMware and was able to access Oracle apps. But, it is very very slow. It hangs sometimes and takes 15-20mins to display Ubuntu screens. Am I missing something here. I have a 4GB RAM and VMWare can not use all the 4GB. It may be using 2GB of 4GB. Am I missing something?
