Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Java update & now getting random music playing

My mac updated java and now right after that I'm getting random music playing songs that aren't on my mac every once in a while. Like about 7 in the last hour. This is crazy.
    How do we stop this?

This happened to me this morning too!  Unfortunately at 4:00 am, I had been about to change my alarm settings and it started happening.  Pushing the upper right hand button temporarily stopped it but it kept happening - had to turn my phone off and take battery out.  I have no songs on my torch and it was a song I had never heard before.  I checked that I hadn't accidentally turned on you tube or something but that was off - I can't figure it out!  Any ideas?

  • Re: Random music playing after smart cover closed

My music is randomly playing after I close the smart cover.  Not much fun in a business meeting.  Any ideas?

i had the same issue and it wasn't music from my library. I shut dow all running apps and it continued

  • Random music is playing and we can't figure out where it is coming from, random music is playing and we can't figure out where it is coming from

ONe of our Macs has just randomly started playing music and we can't figure out where it is.  iTunes is off, all browsers are off.  Anyone know how to search for the source??

Have you got iChat.   There have been examples where this was the cause.  If you have, turn it off to check.   You could also go to activity monitor to check what parts of you system are active.

  • Macbook Pro plays random music since instal of Snow

My Macbook will randomly start playing background music. Its not coming from itunes and I have no other audio programs. Ive even tried playing my music using itunes and it just overlaps each other. Its always instrumental. Sounds like Joe Satriani or something. It will last for a few minuets then its gone. It happens about once a day at random times. I have NO idea whats going on. lmao. Any ideas???

I think I found the answer. I had almost the same problem. Some Xmas music was playing and pausing whenever I hit the space bar. It' realy annoying when writing!
I noticed that I installed a widger calle Gingerbread Man. Eventhough my widgets weren't on, it simply activated (or paused) the music when the space bar had been hit and that I summoned my widgets once.
I removed the widget and the music stopped altogether. Sweeeeeeet silence!

  • Music playing randomly through apple tv

Why does music randomly start playing while browsing through apple tv

    kicro wrote:
I'm wondering whether it more likely is the slow processor or minimal 2GB of RAM in my aging, low-end PC.
unlikely as the itunes server is an old mac mini g4 with 512mb of RAM, and runs flawlessly streaming all my content (music and SD/HD video).

  • Music randomly stops playing (same problem in multiple apps)

Since a few days, my Z1C will randomly stop playing sound, while I'm listening music. It will do this up to multiple times per minute, seems somewhat like a online game lagging really badly, after which it will just pause.
It does this on multiple apps (I tried it on the following
    - Spotify
    - Walkman (or whatever the music app is called now)
    - Audible (audiobooks)
The issue happens both when I listen through my bluetooth headphones (Jaybird bluebuds x) as well as on speaker.
I have had the phone for somewhat more than a year now, I recon. The headphone jack is broken because of my own rough handling, but that wasn't a big deal so far because I use bluetooth anyway.
Anyone know what to do about this?

    Hi Bmot,
    Welcome to the community.
You could try booting the device in to safemode, at least this way you can find out if software is the suspect or if it is more likely hardware.

  • Music Randomly Starts Playing

Since upgrading to 5.0, my blackberry tour does this annoying thing where it randomly starts playing the music I uploaded onto it.  I'll listen to music on my blackberry while I'm at the gym and when I'm done I hit the stop button.  Then I'll be standing in an elevator at work the next day and music will start randomly blasting from my phone.  Needless to say this is rather embarrassing and obnoxious.  Anybody else have a similar problem or have any ideas on how to fix it?  Thanks.

Have you received a MMS message with music attached lately?
    Read this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Tour-9630/Unwanted-ringtone-plays-after-normal-rin...
The fix for many has been to delete that MMS message, delete the randomlt playing and song and then do a reboot of the device:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

  • IPad randomly started playing music

No joke. I was watching a video on Netflix, and this music started playing. I thought it was a part of the show until it played through the  intro of the series. So I hit the home button and it stopped. It hasn't done it again but it was creaking strange. It wasn't even a song I own. It was piano instrumental. This happen to anyone else???

I can't figure out how you started music playing.
In silent mode, iPhone doesn’t ring or play alerts and other sound effects. However, clock alarms, audio apps such as iPod, and many games still play sounds through the built-in speaker when iPhone is in silent mode.

  • Random music starts by itself and at random times.

For the last week or so my 5s randomly starts the Music app and plays a random music from my library.  It's very annoying and has been a little embarassing in business meetings when a Greatful Dead starts playing in my pocket.  Stopping the music app and killing it from the background will quite the device for a short period but will start up again by itself.  Restarting while holding the Home button will stop it from doing this for a few days but eventually it will start doing it again.  Seems to happen when the battery use gets down to around 60%.  I don't know if this is coincidental or if it might be related.
Anyone else having this problem?  Should I suspect a hardware problem and return it for replacement?
I've also had a few hard freezes, with either a totally black screen or frozen at the lock screen.  Again, re-starting while holding down the Home button will resume normal operation for a while.
I don't have any unusual apps, and the ones I do have were obtained from the App store and were working great on my iPhone 5.
Has my 5s been possessed?  Does it need an exorcism?

Same problem, but have not been able to connect it to the battery use. Mine seems to play which ever music source I last used, i.e. Pandora, TuneIn, or my MP3s, and it seems to start after a text message or email alert plays.

  • Music plays wrong song

On the new iPad, my music play list, I'll tap a song but a different random one will play. Already restarted. One time I deleted all songs and reloaded them, that worked for a while. Suggestions?

So I turned off shuffle and that did it! But you would think, even with shuffle on it would play the first song as you select it and then shuffle after, like iPhone does. Oh well.

  • HLS encryption VOD randomly stop playing on IOS

We have 4 AMS servers load balanced (DNS) with identical application on each. RTMPe is playing fine from flash desktops, however, HLSe on IOS devices randomly stops playing part way through the content. I do not see any relevant errors in AMS/Apache. The front end player shows the following errors when the content stops playing:
"CoreMediaErrorDomain" "No response for media file in 0.49632s"
"CoreMediaErrorDomain" "Segment exceeds specified bandwidth for variant"
Similar issues discussed here: http://openradar.io/15060374 (thought not AMS specific).
This could be a player issue. It seems to randomly have issues grabbing an HLS segment. Has anyone else had any similar issues?

I just wanted to add an update in case anyone else runs into a similar issue.  I seem to have found a solution to the problem.  Here's what I did:
    1) Plugged in to my computer and removed all music from my iPod (just unselected "sync music" then allowed the iPod to sync).
    2) In iTunes, under the summary tab of my iPod, I selected "convert higher bit rate songs to 256 kbps AAC" in the options section.
    3) I synced my iPod.  This took a REALLY long time, as I have just over 52GB of music that I chose to put on my iPod.  This is 52GB AFTER the conversion to 256kbps.  Anyway, it took a couple hours to sync the first time because it had to convert almost every song.  After the first sync, it doesn't take long to sync unless I add a lot of songs and even then, it only takes a few minutes.
I've listened to my music on a variety of devices (in my car, different types of headphones, computer at work etc) and haven't noticed any degradation in quality, despite the fact that nearly all of the original music files on my computer are 320kbps.  I'm not sure if the problem I was having was due to the higher bitrate or the fact that the original music files are a variety of formats (aac, mp3, wav, and some others).
I did this later in the evening after I posted the original question and have not had a problem since (about 15 days).  Skipping songs seems to go a lot faster as well.  I use my iPod a good 6-10 hours everyday, so I think that having no problems in the last 15 days is pretty good evidence that this is a good solution.
Hopefully this is helpful to anyone that stops by here

  • Random sounds playing from Macbook unprompted

My Macbook Pro is playing random sounds when it is not being asked to.  Computer on right now, with no music playing and very short snippets of sound (2 seconds at most) are playing out the speakers - trying to identify them they are not parts of songs I have (iTunes is not running right now) but sound like the sonic element of a video that is buffering.  The biggest segment I heard just a few minutes ago where an American lady said quite a few words (sounded like an infomercial).  It's happening maybe every few minutes, but not at regularly timed intervals.
Sounds sort of like trying to tune a radio and only catching snippets of sound (but less regular)
Currently running - google chrome, finder and messages.
Also open Dropbox, Copy, Evernote, f.lux, Gdrive and Twitter apps.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) / Running Yosemite 10.10 (I'm not 100% sure but I think this problem started before Yosemite upgrade)

  • Random Shuffle Play

New iPOD user! My old .mp3 player had a random shuffle play. Basically, it would randomly play songs within a playlist. I've figured out how to shuffle a playlist, but that is a one time shuffle...not a random play. Is there a way to play songs in a random order within a playlist?
    Thanks!

I didn't have my iPod with me when I wrote that, but when I try that, it still works for me.
First of all, you have the "Shuffle" under Settings set for "Songs", correct?
Then, navigate to Music > Playlists. You will se one or more playlists that you've synced to your iPod.
Highlight (with the clickwheel) the playlist that you want to play with shuffled songs. Do not click on the playlist's name, but simply highlight it as if you were going to click on it.
Then, clicking on the Play/pause button on your iPod, you should begin to play that playlist's content that you've highlighted, just in shuffled order.
Doing that exact method, it works for me. Does it work and shuffle the playlist's content for you when you try that?

  • ITunes randomly starts playing media

My iTunes (10.5.1) will randomly start playing music or podcasts without prompting.  In the last 30 min. it has started playing 6 times without me pressing play or interacting w/ iTunes at all. I have a MBP w/ Snow Leopard. It's really a bother when I'm not in my classroom and it interrupts another teacher's lesson! His solution was to close the cover and it stopped. It only seems to happen in the 9 a.m. hour, which is just weird! Anyone else experience this or have any ideas on how to fix it?

So I think I have this figured out.  The other teacher is using an Apple Remote to control his Keynote presentation and it not only advances his presentation, but he is starting my iTunes!
Funny. (Also, I feel kind of silly.)
