Well, in fact any 3rd party drivers or other software can cause problems, depending on what else is installed on the system.
Bear in mind that these forums are analogous to an emergency room for Mac users - a high proportion of people who post have problems, but the actual proportion out in the real world is much lower. For example, RE "logic driver" if you mean Logitech, consider how many mice/trackballs they have out there running on Macs, compared to the posts on these forums.
But, there's an easy way to avoid trouble - have a solid backup strategy (e.g. weekly SuperDuper syncs to an external drive), and run a backup before installing anything new.

  • Mamba razer mouse & OS X crash

hi, i hope you all tech geniuses are doing fine. i recently bought mamba razor viewless gaming mouse to play diablo and sky rim on my mac. downloaded software(synapse 2) from razor site. now whenever  it is connected to system, mac restarts again and again after every 3 minutes. what is this issue and how to resolve it. my system configurations are as follow
    OS X 10.9.3
    2.3 GHz core i7
i hope some genius will help me
    Many regards

You've seemingly isolated this to a problem with Razer's software.
The Razer web site does indicate their software is supported on OS X 10.9.
For now, you can boot your Mac into Safe Mode and remove the Razer mouse software, or (apparently, based on your description) leave the Razer disconnected pending a fix.
You can either decide to return that Razer product to the supplier and acquire a different mouse (and probably preferably one that doesn't need add-on software and drivers), or check directly with the Razer support folks about any known issues or problems or updates for these crashes.
In short: check with Razer directly...

  • Mouse drivers on mac side?

I like how the mouse drivers are in windows, which is why I am buying leopard to get bootcamp. Can you use these same drivers from windows on the mac side with bootcamp installed?
Another question: Once I have bootcamp installed can I use the partition on parallels or VMware Fusion to open it as a virtual machine if I'm on mac?

if complaining about Apple here is not allowed (why not?)
Because, as per the terms of use to which we all agreed, posts that are just complaints are not allowed.
what is the best way to fix the mouse acceleration problem on Mac OS? I've tried SteerMouse and Usb Overdrive but the mouse still feels weird.
I have no idea what constitutes "feels weird" so I can't offer any advice. I use USB Overdrive with a trackball and it works fine for me, and also use Apple and third-party mice with the mouse control built into Mac OS X and am also satisfied. So without details as to exactly what you find to be a problem, I can't offer any suggestions. It would seem to be more an issue of personal preference rather than something actually wrong, so perhaps that's why Apple hasn't "paid attention".
    Regards.

  • Where can I find Mighty Mouse drivers/prerferences

Does anyone know where the default settings are located for the Mighty Mouse or the easiest way to restore them?
I installed Controller Mate and Steermouse for a bit before uninstalling them but now I can't reconfigure my Mighty Mouse. (I want to disable the right click). I'd like to use Time Machine to restore the Mighty Mouse drivers/preferences.
    Please help!

My mouse system preferences are still there and I can customise most of the Mighty Mouse functions except it won't let me disable the secondary click for some reason i.e. I make the change in preferences but the context menu still appears when I right click.
I have uninstalled the 3rd party drivers using AppZapper.

  • Writing Mouse Drivers

I've not developed at all for Windows. How does the process go? What programs do you have to download, how much do you have to spend, etc.? The end goal here being, to write mouse drivers.

    Hi,
You cannot open a sys file in any text editor or VS. It's a binary executable file.
Moreover, for achieving the above task, you needn't write a device driver. It can be done through application programming on windows.
But, I'm afraid, you need to learn a lot mate. I recommend you learn about windows programming using books or tutorials:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/vstudio/en-US/a39f11dc-55f8-41ae-9ccb-1aeec0b8e35d/books-on-visual-c-2010-win32-programming
    http://www.winprog.org/tutorial/
For achieving this task, you can handle windows mouse/keyboard messages to do your work. Please check the below links:

  • Linux 3.13 - Kernel and Razer Mouse (Hard Freeze)

I upgraded to the new kernel 3.13.4-1 the other day and everytime I'd try to log into Xwindows the system from GDM, it would hard freeze.  So I went about problem solving and couldn't find what was going on.  I then upgraded to the 3.13.5-1 kernel thinking that might fix it.  It did not.  So I went rooting around for a couple hours.  Then I realized that it only occured when I went to touch my mouse.  So I switched to my Wacom tablet to see if I was right. And yep, it worked perfectly with the tablet.  No Freezes.
So for anyone else having problems with the XWindows freezing constantly try switching to another pointer device (unlikely I know).  Or you can do what I did and downgrade the kernel from 3.13 to the last 3.12 version which involves downgrading the headers, nvidia driver, and nvidia-utils if you have them.  I am using the same mouse in 3.12 with no problems.
I couldn't find a bug report anywhere about it and I don't know what actually causes the mouse to freeze the system while the tablet doesn't.
By the way I use the Nvidia Proprietary driver for XWindows so that might be causing it too since it had to be downgraded... not sure...  I can't get any logs from the hard freezez at all.
The 3.13 kernel also randomly decides to lose sync with my main harddrive and then go in a kernel panic on boot sometimes.  Clearly it has a few bugs to work out.  I'm gonna stick with 3.12 for a while.

I just experienced a similar problem after upgrading to 3.13. At first I thought this was an Intel driver bug (I'm using Bumblebee with Intel + NVIDIA drivers), but nothing showed up in the logs, and it did seem to happen when moving the mouse. I'll try downgrading as well.

  • Scroll Wheel Speed in KDE, witha Razer Mouse???

I just bought a Razer Lachesis, with the firmware on the mouse configured from drivers on my Windows install.
    But-
How on Earth do I get the same scroll wheel speed in Arch that I do in Windows?
Some apps-such as system popups (i.e. plasma widgets download popup) follow what looks like the speed set in the mouse on Windows--most user apps do not...doesn't seem to be a Gtk/Qt thing.  Some apps such as the latest Opera10 qt4 64bit, do not follow the "Number of Lines to scroll" setting in KDE system settings.
I just reinstalled Arch64 with Vanilla KDE4.2.4, although I had the same annoyance on KDEMod4 stable.

No I have not, how does one set the wheel speed in Xorg?  I searched in the Wiki and online and didn't see anything.
I read about setting mouse pointer speed in Xorg in the Wiki, but didn't see anything about scroll speed.

  • Problem with Razer mouse

This is actually a problem I had with 10.5 that persists in 10.5. I once had a Razer Copperhead working on my 1st gen MBP 17" using Steermouse. At some point I needed to do an OS reinstall, and in retrospect I think my mistake must have been plugging in the mouse before installing Steermouse, but anyway OSX decided I had an unrecognized type of keyboard and I never did get the thing to work and gave up. Now after the upgrade to 10.6 I still have the mouse not working but I now have the need to use it.
Is there a way to get OSX to forget that the mouse is a keyboard and start from scratch? It is actually shown in System Profiler as a "Razer Copperhead Laser Mouse" but without working.

Im having the same problem. My razer copperhead once worked but now it does not. The mouse shows up in the system profiler without working. Hope someone eventually answers this.

  • Removing ALL remnants of previous mouse drivers

How do I do this? I checked in the obvious locations "Library/Preferences" and deleted any files associated with whatever brand of mouse I was using, along with uninstallation of the software originally installed. My question is: Is there any other directories/folders that will have files associated with mice I'd need to delete? I ask because the apple mouse is behaving a bit screwy. It's either really SLOW, or REALLY fast. The cursor should be moving at the same speed all the time, not suddenly accelerate the way it's doing now. Any advice? I had been using a Logitech mouse with the Control Center software, after uninstallation I was using USB overdrive. That's also been uninstalled now.

Why don't you just use Spotlight and search for any files with similar names??

  • Magic Mouse Drivers - Bootcamp

    Apple,
The Magic Mouse is a great product but thus far you've ignored those who work in Bootcamp with Windows. My occasional jaunts into the Windows world are disappointing and should not be. Please release drivers that better utilize Magic Mouse features in Windows.

This issue appears to be resolved (well, it never required resolution, just the proper drivers) by installing only part of the Apple Bluetooth Update 1.0 for Windows.
The update can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL952
Once the package is downloaded, you must extract the files using WinRAR or any other similar ZIP/RAR utility.
You must extract the files from the update. If you simply try to install the entire update, you'll receive a prompt stating the update isn't required for your specific model, as this update is intended for the iMac.
Once extracted, open the target directory and double-click the AppleWirelessMouse.exe that applies to your Windows OS (32 or 64 bit).
I'm using my Magic Mouse with Boot Camp and Fusion 3.0 running Win 7 and both vertical and horz scrolling work just fine. The Magic Mouse also feels a bit more responsive. Both are welcome improvements.
I'm not quite sure why Apple hasn't provided more information on this, it seems they're okay with the implication that Magic Mouse only works in Mac OS X.

  • I need help with my Razer mouse, SRSLY!

So I want to adjust the mouse speed & the scrollspeed of the mouse. After some googeling I found the razercfg package in AUR that I installed. And It seems as I can't get it to work properly, the razercfg says that it doesen't find any Razer mice. I added the razerd to the daemons in rc.conf as it is a daemon?
Here is my mouse section from xorg.
    Section "InputDevice"
    # generated from default
    Identifier "Mouse0"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0"
    Option "Name" "Razer BoomslangCE"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
    Option "Emulate3TimeOut" "200"
    Option "EmulateWheel" "on"
    Option "EmulateWheelTimeOut" "250"
    Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
    Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option "VertScrollDelta" "6"
    Option "Resolution" "1800"
    Option "CorePointer"
    Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
    Option "SampleRate" "500"
    EndSection
So the question is: What is wrong, and how do I make things work properly?

As it seems, there's no new firmware for the Razer Boomslang 2007CE , and I also read on a page that the scrollspeed was hard-coded into gtk. I found a way to increase the scrollspeed in firefox however.
To adjust the scrollspeed in firefox simply enter: about:config in the adressbar and edit:
    mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines boolean false
    mousewheel.withnokey.numlines integer 15
where false enables the numlines option and 15 is the number of lines it scrolls for every click. You can put any integer you want, so it does not have to be 15, it's just that I use 15.
And for the mouse-speed, there is a option for that in xorg.
    Just add:
    Option "Sensitivity" "2"
And 2 is just a random integer, you can set it to any other number that suits you.
That solved like 85% of my problem, the only thing missing is the scrollspeed in all other apps (if it's not hard-coded into gtk that is).

  • Mighty Mouse drivers

I've bought a new Mighty Mouse for my MacBook. The two 'main'-buttons work fine, and also the scroll. But the squeeze and the scrollbutton (for an extra function) doesn't do anything. I've done the right settings in systempreferences (I see a picture of the Mighty Mouse). After this I installed the drivers (didn't this at first), but nothing changed. I can't even turn of scrolling ... It's like the drivers don't work, but I have Mac OS X 10.4.7

make sure you have a check mark in the mouse settings for vertical and horizontal scrolling and should be all you need to do.

    Hi,
I have a macbook and I also run vista on it. I would like to know if there are any drivers released from Apple to support right click and select option on vista. Precisely I want to operate the right click and select option from the track pad on Windows vista just the way we operate on Mac OS.
On Vista, it is so difficult to operate by placing two fingers and clicking the mouse button on the track pad. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
