RDF implementation / Upgrade

Hi,
I was looking for some documentation related to RDF (Retail Demand Forecasting) implementation and had the following queries:
* Is there any link/path from where I can find documents related to RDF (PPT, PDF)?
* Is there a pre-configured solutionf for RDF similar to MFP?
* What is the elapsed time for an implementation of RDF solution? Similarly, how much time will a typical upgrade of RDF solution require.
Thanks in advance.

Pravin

  • Can you please share your experience in implementing / upgrading the Primavera EPPM R8.3?

    Hi,
In our company various versions (V7, R8.1 and R8.3) of Primavera being used in various locations. To bring all the location to a common platform, management has decided to implement  / upgrade Primavera EPPM P6 R8.3 and also planned to integrate Primavera P6 R8.3 EPPM with Oracle (EBS) Projects application . Hence, If any of you implemented Primavera P6 EPPM R8.3 or upgraded the earlier versions to Primavera P6 R8.3. Please share your ideas and also the pros and cons of implementing R 8.3 EPPM. For your information we are going to have SQL database since all the existing databases are in SQL.
Please share your ideas and experiences.

    Hi,
we have done a lot of implementations and migrations to the P6 EPPM R8.3 from different former versions and this is working fine. the dbsetup does a good job.
A good way in my point of view is to set up a new P6 EPPM R8.3 system with a new PMDB Instance which will keep the configurations so that you easily can migrate or exchange the instances. Always remind to have a validated backup of any instance before migrating.
Before migration you should mind the following points:
The source version of the old P6 PMDB instance is:
P6.2.1 or before => first you need to migrate it to P6 V7.0 before you can migrate it to P6 R8.3
P6 V7.0 => check if you have used P6 WebAccess: if not okay, else check if you used jackrabbit (look for migration tool), Workflows (close all before migrating); Check if using Jobservice XER-Export (no longer available); Jobservice Batchreport (only Workaround available see Knowledgebase); Risks in the P6 Client (need to be manually migrated)
P6 R8.0 to R8.2 => Using Extended Schema, Enterprise Reporting Database, own BI Publisher Reports => Check stept to be taken for migration
    Other questions are:
Which authentication method will you use (native, LDAP, SSO)? If not using native and you want to connect the BI Publisher then you need also to use that authentication there.
The migration itself is pretty easy if you take care that all sessions are closed (no users or unclosed primavera sessions settings  on that instance, stop all Applications, interfaces or Services connected to the instance. Cleanup your refrdel_deletes, logical_deletes and (if used before), extended Schema tables.
Then you can migrate with dbsetup, use additional Service Packs and Fixpacks (actually Service Pack 1) on the instances and then you can connect them into the environment by adding it to the P6 Configuration.
I mentioned you don't want to put all data into one final PMDB-Instance.

  • OBIEE 11G Implemented - Upgrading Oracle EBS 11g to R12

We have OBIEE 11G implemented and are currently sourcing the data from Oracle EBS 11g.  We are upgrading our source database to R12 and need to know the impact on our Informatica mappings.  Can anyone point me to some documentation, or have leave some helpful hints on how to proceed with this project.  Thanks.

    Hello,
I assume you are using BI APPS, there shouldn't be any impact on informatica mappings. Informatica comes with prebuit adapters for EBS 12 version, you need to use ORAR12 adapter.

  • Difference between Fresh implementation, Upgrade & Rollout

    Hii
How the functional consultants responsibilities & scope of work varies in each of these projects? Like in fresh implementation as we follow  ASAP methodology do we follow the same methodolgy in other type of projects also. If we follow the same methodology, what do we do in business blue print stage in upgrad& roll out implementations?Because already during implementation BPO's would have shared their requirements & busines processes & accordingly we would have implemented. But in upgrades & rollouts how the project is done. Please anybody who has already worked on upgrades, help me out in getting a clear picture on how upgarde projects are takled & the responsibilities of functional consultants in upgarde projects.
    thanks in advance.
    chandra

<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an End To End Implementation (Fresh Implementation)</b>
When you talk about the role of a Functional consultant in an end to end implementation, I think it won't be possible for me or anybody to define everything but I will try to summarize it:
    1. Functional consultant is expected to generate knowledge about the current business process, design current business flows, study current business processes and its complication, in all we can say getting through with current business setup. Flow diagrams and DFD are prepared, most of the time in Vision format, all this forms the part of AS IS document.
    2. Everything configured has to be documented as per their categories in the form of predefined templates, these have to be then approved by the team leads or who ever the consultant is reporting to.
    3. Mapping and GAP analysis is done for each module, I have seen people defining integration after mapping, gap analysis and configuration is done, but as per my experience in implementation, it is a simultaneous process.
    4. Before starting configuring  future business processes in SAP, the DFD/ERD are prepared, this documentation is called TO BE, which can be also siad as the result of mapping and gap analysis.
    5. Sometimes Functional consultants are also expected to prepare test scripts for testing the configured scenarios.
    6. End user manual and user training is also expected from F.Consultants.
The project normally starts off  with a Kick off meeting in which the team size, team members, reporting system, responsibilities, duties, methodlogy, dates and schedules, working hours which have been predicided are formally defined.
ASAP methodolgy is used in Freh Implementation.
<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an Upgrade</b>
Upgrade could be an technical Upgrade in which the existing configuration is technically upgraded & then the function Consultant & Abapers do the necessary modification required in the Configuration & Developments. This would be based on AS-IS & TO-BE Study & as per the scope of the project. The Servers / system are completely different, along with different version of SAP.
<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an Rollout</b>
In Rollout, more or less, the configuration is in place, it is just a matter of extending the same based on requirement. It is possible that there may be small changes required to be done in configuration & developments, which have to be handled by Functional Consultants & Abapers.
Hopefully this information is of use to you.

  • Need help on implementing functionalities of solution manager

Hi solution manager gurus, i have to propose a method to implement SOLMAN functionality
Landscape consists of around 15 servers
    SAP users 800
typical 3 system DEV-CONS-PRD landscape on all instances
Till now only Upgrade service functionality has been used in SOLMAN, they would like to implement the services below
       1.  Engagement and Service Delivery u2013 service delivery and issue management
       2. System Administrations (Solution Monitoring, Root Cause Analysis, System Diagnostic, including non-SAP IT environments)
       3. Implementation/Upgrading SAP Solutions (Scenario Management)
       4. Business Process operations (Incident Management, System Landscape (cross IT landscape)
       5. Change management (for functional enhancements and updates)
       6. Test Management
Can anyone suggest the right approach in implementing those services
also can anyone suggest a rough possible time line in implementing this with rough FTE?

    Hi,
my suggestion is to check the standard documentation of the interface IF_EX_ME_GUI_PO_CUST.
After that you can check the method IF_EX_ME_GUI_PO_CUST~TRANSPORT_TO_DYNP in the example implementation class CL_EXM_IM_ME_GUI_PO_CUST.

  • Oracle RDF graph DB data modeling

I am wondering how Oracle RDF graph DB modeling the attributes of the node or relationship? Suppose a node (dubject or object) is a person which has a lot of attriubtes, say age, birthdate, ssn, address, etc, it sounds to me Oracle RDF cannot assoicate attriubtes to the node and instead it just models each attribute as a node in the graph. Is it common practice to include so many attributes in the graph database?

    Hi,
RDF (and Oracle's RDF offering) in general allows associating as many attributes as you need to nodes in the graph. You are right in saying that those attributes are
modeled as RDF resources (nodes). This promotes sharing of resources.
e.g. The first two triples associate the same street resource with two individuals. The third triple
provides some descriptive information about this street resource.
    <urn:John>  <urn:livesOnStreet>  <urn:StreetXYZ>
    <urn:Mary>  <urn:livesOnStreet>  <urn:StreetXYZ>
    <urn:StreetXYZ>  rdfs:comment  "Sunset Rd. .... "
It is usually up to an application to determine how many attributes to use. The underlying RDF graph model supports
multiple attributes and Oracle's RDF implementation supports multiple attributes.
It is also possible to store attributes in a separate relational table and use a SQL to join the graph query results
    with your relational data.
    Hope it helps,

  • I need the check list for SOLMAN implementation

    Hi gurus ,
i need the check  list for solution manager implementation and what are the things to be discuss with the client , i am new to SOLMAN, i have to do this by the evening , any one can help me out
    Cheers
    Gopal.rao

    Hi Gopal,
I am not sure if this thread of yours is in continuation of the other thread you have started which has been replied by two other Forum members.
The checklist depends upon which Scenario(s) of SolMan you are trying to implement.
    - Implementation/ Upgrade of ERP systems
    - Service Desk
    - Change Request Monitoring
    - Diagnostics
    - Solution Monitoring (includes BPM/ Interface monitoring)
    - Delivery of SAP Services (EWA, .....)
Unless you specify the scenario you are seeking information on, it is difficult for anyone to pose a satisfactory reply.

Depends on your experience and the technical knowledge you have. Yes, there are implementation / upgrade projects are going on. Whats on the existing company are there no implementation projects? are you willing to change the job then you need to search on the job search sites. Where are the requirements for project implementations.
If you are sound in technical and has exprience then you will get.

  • Activities to be performed before implementation

    Hi guys
Could anyone please tell me the prior activities to be performed before the implemenatation. As per my understanding we nedd to upload master data.
At present the present activities run through AS400 application, I need to undersatnd the activities to be performed and the what are the relavent master data to be uploaded and cut over activities to be performed.
    will be og great help.

Yes, u have to upload the master data through  LSMW.
    Regarding the Cut over activities...
Cut over activity is an important and crucial activity during implementation / upgrade of SAP or any other ERP package. This needs to be meticulously planned such that all the steps / activities to be performed are listed and executed in the required sequence. Some of the main activities are as under:
    1. Transport all the Configuration settings related to Entreprise Structure and Master Data related transports.
    2. Create Master Data - GL Accounts / Cost Elements / Cost Centers / Profit Centers/ Customer Master / Vendor Master / Asset Master / Material Master etc.
    3. Upload all open Sales Orders / Purchase Orders.
    4. Upload Closing GL Balances as on the date of cutover. In case of Open item managed GL Accounts - line items of the GL Accounts need to be uploaded.
    5. Upload all open items of Customers and Vendors.
    6. Material Quantity / value to be uploaded and this should tie with GL Balance.
    7. For conversion activity create four to six Conversion GL Accounts - one each for Assets, Liabilities, Expense Accounts, Revenue, Materials etc. The sum of all conversion accounts should be zero. Once the conversion activity is completed Block those GL Accounts.
    8. Get a sign off from Business for all the conversion activity. The financial ststements should tie with the legacy system.
Transactions should be posted only after obtaining the sign off.

  • To implement javadoc that has newly introduced i/f s & classes

    Hi,
I have Java 6 installed on my Linux workstation. I have APIdocs for the same.
Well, while handling database in my application, I want to modify my DataSet.
I've also come across the WebDoc community and have been to http://doc.java.sun.com/DocWeb/api/java.sql
But I can't use DataSet, BaseQuery interfaces from java.sql as they are not bundled in my existing java SE 6 apis.
Can anybody help me out how to download/implement/upgrade APIDocs to use these additional utility classes and interfaces?
    Thank you.

    Hi jschell,

The thing is , I'm unable to utilize some interfaces like DataSet, BaseQuery etc. (these interfaces and other new classes n some more interfaces s are given in the list, for which I referred the link in my previous thread, which is actually vaild if you open it and go through the details :-) ) coz these interfaces are not in the existing APIs if you observed.
Do you understand what the word "invalid" means?
It is pointless for you to continue to refer to that link because it is wrong, incorrect, lying, nonsensical, mistaken.
Pick whichever word you want from that list.
The link I gave you provides the only interfaces/classes/exceptions that you can use in java.sql in 1.6. You can't use anything else because they don't exist. No matter how much you want to use it the real world doesn't allow fantasy.

    Hello there!!

    Hi Saurabh,
sorry, I am not able to support you in finding the cause for the connection problem.
    Anyway, my recommendation:
    - Delete the SolMan 3.2 installation
    - Install Solman 4.0
    - Apply all Support Packages
    - perform the configuration on 4.0 according the IMG
Configuring SolMan 3.2 is wasted time, if it has not been used in the past. SolMan 4.0 supports implementation / upgrade from/to SAP ERP 2004.
An upgrade in the future costs much more time and money, then to reinstall 4.0 now.
Deleting SolMan 3.2 and reinstall SolMan 4.0, this will only 2 extra days. Upgrade takes about 4-10 days.

  • Best Practice of copying Production to Development

Hi everyone.  My management would like some documentation  on the Best Practice of copying Production systems to Development.
    1. In the past, we've setup the clients and connections/interfaces and shrink the database by deleting unneeded production data. Now that there is note 130906, saving the ABAP versions may be easier.
    2. Every two or three years we copy our BIW Production to Development.  This is also labor intensive to set up the development system again with source systems.
    3. We've copied our PI 70 system to a sandbox, and again this is labor intensive to reset the PI object names, since the system names are imbedded in the object names.
    4. I've done java systems to, so I'm not to concerned about these.
    5. There is talk of copying the following Production systems to Development systems - SLD, PI 7.1, Solution Manager, SAP R/3, BIW, MII...some of these make sense, others we question if it is worth it.
As a note, we copy our SAP R/3 Production instance to our QA environment about twice a year and to another QA system monthly.  We also copy our CRM Production to our QA environment twice a year and BIW Production to QA environment once a year.  We can leverage what we know about copying to PRD to QA, but we want to give them alternatives about copying PRD to DEV.
We'd like to use SAP's TDMS to move data from PRD to DEV.  But unfortunately, that project has not gotten management  attention as being a high priority (yet).
Rather than take my  word for it, is there any SAP provided documentation that would give my management a set of alternatives on their desire to copy our Production systems to Development.
    Thanks...Scott B.

From a E2E200 perspective SAP recommends the following landscape:
    Maint = Dev -> QA -> Pre-Prod -> Prod
    N+1 =  Dev2 -> QA2 -> Pre-Prod -> Prod
Maint is all object versions to remain ideally the same versions, and only transports to fix a short dumping Prod system.  N+1 is where you have implementation/upgrade projects worked on and allow you import the entire project of transports.
Another consideration, when you restore a Prod system to a Dev or new Dev system; you are destroying all of your version info which means your developers can't view or revert changes for the objects.
